Pain. Everything was pain. The Gheist let out a sound similar to a groan.
It's armor was heavily damaged, and the pack of Beowolves that managed to sneak up on it caused it so much damage that further inhabitation was impossible, and staying anywhere without proper protection was suicide.
This was the end. There was nothing close enough for it to crawl through, and it could feel the pack waiting for it to go further into the woods, and ignoring that it was filled with those Lights.
Suddenly, a loud sound jolted the Grimm right up. It was a sword! A perfect container for it to rest in and heal up! The beast thanked the God for his graciousness, and left the suit, showcasing its heavily damaged body and cracked mask.
The armor glowed that violent red one last time, and then permanently settled down, all the old steel plates cracking into smaller pieces.
The Gheist entered the sword, and settled into a deep sleep.
Jaune's POV
"No no no no no!" He lost it. He actually lost it. The family heirloom, the weapon of his great-grandfather. He was doing fine at first, flying very quickly above the forest. Well, not fine, but at least he still had his weapon! But then that spear got thrown into his hoodie, and the force behind it caused him to lose his sword! Now he was stuck on this stupid tree, with that damn spear lodged too deep to pull out. There! Snow Angel just landed next to him!
"Hey there beautiful, would you mind?" Jaune asked her, gesturing to the spear lodging him in place with false confidence in his tone. In response, all she did was look him in the eyes, scoff, and walk away.
"Great. Now I'm stuck here and I'm gonna be food to some wild animal, and have my sword lost to my family forever!" Jaune silently despaired.
He was stuck there for at least 10 minutes, until that redhead came along and pulled him off.
"Hello there Jaune, is there still a spot on your team?" Pyrrha asked, a small smile on her face. "...very funny." Pyrrha laughed at this and pulled Jaune down.
Panic soon erupted on Jaune's face. "My sword! I lost it! We need to find it quick!" "Calm down Jaune, I just saw it near a clearing. Let's go get it, shall we?" Pyrrha replied, calming him down.
"Y-yeah, thanks Pyrrha!" Jaune told her, walking with her to the clearing, until a particularly sharp branch cut into his face.
"Jaune, what's that on your face?" Pyrrha asked. "It's just a cut, don't worry about it."
"Why aren't you using your Aura to heal it?" She asked him with a confused expression.
"...what's Aura?" Jaune replied making Pyrrha's expression even more confused. "You don't know what Aura is?" She asked.
"Of course I do! Do you know what Aura is?"
Jaune told her, albeit with false confidence.
"Aura is the manifestation of your soul. It shields you and gives you strength, and is the main reason we can fight against the Grimm. You can also channel it into weapons to improve them, like making a sword sharper or a gun jam less. With enough practice, you can make it become a physical shield to protect you, or use your Semblance." "It's like a force field!" Jaune exclaimed. "If you want to look at it that way. Now, close your eyes."
"Uh, okay." Jaune said, closing his eyes and letting Pyrrha touch his cheek. "For it is in passing that we achieve immortality. Through this we become a paragon of virtue and glory to rise above all. Infinite in distance and unbound by death, I release your soul, and by my shoulder protect thee."
Pyrrha suddenly let go, panting and steadying herself.
"Pyrrha, are you okay?" Jaune asked her worry etched into his tone.
"I'm fine, activating your Aura cost me a lot of energy. You have quite a lot of it. Now, let's go get your sword." Pyrrha said, mentioning to the sword stuck in the ground.
Jaune grabbed the sword and pulled it out, almost falling over by how easily he pulled it out. "Is this my Aura?" He thought to himself. "I should start channeling it into Crocea Mors, so it can work even better!"
Gheist's POV
The Gheist was asleep resting from his wounds, when suddenly it was woken up by a large amount of Light pouring into its body, causing it to feel like it was burning alive in the blade.
It could not think or move because of its grievous injuries, so all it could do is screech to nobody but itself in pain.
It blacked out because of the pain, not dying but hibernating, getting used to the pain.
Jaune's POV
"And the leader of team JNPR is... Jaune Arc!" Ozpin told them. "W-what?" Jaune exclaimed. "Congratulations young man, I know that you'll make it far." Ozpin told him. "Congrats partner!" Pyrrha told him, giving a punch to his shoulder that caused him to fall over, making the whole auditorium laugh.
"Welcome to Beacon, I guess..."
