Land of the living 1934

The shooting of his first film had begun and Ernesto was very nervous: the screenplay had been written by himself and he was satisfied but Pedro Martinez, the actor who was to play Don Hidalgo, the antagonist of the film, seemed not to want to collaborate

"Guys, we can't go on like this. It's the fifteenth time we repeat this scene and it still doesn't convince me at all!" said the director Juliano Sandoval very angry

"The scene is perfect, it's this idiot who can't act!" Ernesto raised his voice

"And you're nothing but an arrogant balloon, you're not even that good as a musician!" Pedro retorted

"What? I didn't understand, what did you say?" he approached him threateningly, brandishing a bottle. Frightened, Pedro tried to limit the damage done

"Nothing, it was just an outburst of anger, I didn't mean what I said, I ..." and Ernesto threw the bottle on the wall dodging him

"Enough, stop criticizing me! My music teacher was like that, he did nothing but criticize me. He always said you are not enough, technique is not enough, you lack emotion or Ernesto why don't you come down from the pedestal that you are nobody? And then he did favoritism. " he spat out all the poison he had in his body

"Ok, now that's enough! You Pedro just thinks about shooting this scene well so we can finally go on and you Ernesto, just because you are the best musician in Mexico, you don't have the right to lead everyone around, am I clear?" Juliano concluded

"Perfectly!" Pedro answered. Ernesto instead counted to ten to calm down and then, as if nothing had happened, he said in a mellifluous voice

"Crystalline!"

"Very well, now let's get back to work!" and the thing seemed to end here but then Ernesto approached Pedro and whispered in his ear

"You know, I made my music teacher pay for it even with interest so I advise you to be very careful!" and he walked away with a grin. Pedro didn't take that threat very seriously, but he didn't cause any further disagreements on the set as he wanted to finish that damn movie and get paid. Maybe if he had done it, it wouldn't have taken another 88 years to get to the truth about the fate of that elusive music teacher and what Ernesto meant by "I made him pay with interest too". But in the end, justice always works.
