Friday Morning. It's the end of the week. A happy day. And yet, these two amazingly dedicated, peas in a pod agents were filing paperwork when McGee came in at 7 AM.
Timothy Farragut McGee could not believe his eyes when he saw Bishop and Torres putting in the work on a quiet day and the fact that they were here early was astounding too. It was expected and quite natural of Bishop to do this, but Torres? Ha! No way in hell is he doing this without some serious motivation.
"So... Good Morning," he said.
"Morning McGee," said Ellie lifting her head for a second from the stack of papers and giving him a classic morning smile. She delved right back into work after doing that.
"Mmmh," grunted Nick as a sign of returning the wish.
"Gee, Torres! That's a hell of a greeting," chuckled Tim.
"Whatever. I got work to do, man. Imma finish this all before going home today and I'm free for the weekend. Meanwhile, you will stick your butt on that chair and finish that ungodly mountain of paperwork all through the day, while I will be out enjoying! ," replied the man in black chirpily.
What Nick did not realize was that his boss was standing right behind him. Honestly, the man was a cheetah.
"What? You got a hot date, Torres?" asked Gibbs from behind.
Nick answered a little too fast by saying, "No."
"You sure about that? You're working pretty hard there."
"Yes, Sir. No, uh, no no dates for me." After a minute or so of awkwardness, he said, "I'll just get back to doing this."
"Mmhmm. You do that," replied Gibbs with a slightly uncharacteristic smirk on his face. He walked off and went straight to Sloane's cabin with a coffee in his hand.
What he did or did not see were the little looks that his resident blonde and Spanish ninja were exchanging. He did however note that Bishop was wearing one of Torres' t-shirts.
"Nice t-shirt, Ellie. Looks good on you," Gibbs commented whilst walking off.
"Thanks, Gibbs. Look good too?"
McGee was confused and he did not handle office suspense well, despite being an acclaimed author.
"What was that all about?" he asked.
"Who knows?" replied Bishop. "Maybe Elaine at the diner spiked his coffee?"
The three laughed and went back to work. But McGee could not shake the train of thoughts halting at his mind's station. What was Gibbs talking about? And since when does he care about what we wear? What the hell is going on?
If only he could notice the looks and glances that his two co-workers were giving each other. One could describe it as adorable, loving, cute, possessive, fierce, and probably even sexual at some times.
The day passed and there were so many moments these two agents shared - brushing of hands at the coffee cart, smiles at the lift, ear rubs at being caught staring at each other, exchanging looks, playful teasing, amusing and meaningful conversations all day.
McGee thought something was off when Ellie offered to play music since the bullpen was getting dull.
"Why?" he questioned.
"Meh," she said while shrugging her shoulders. "Just feels right. It's getting a little boring. Any requests?"
When she received no answer, she started her own soundtrack, and 'You' by Naomi August was up first.
"Oooh. Nice..." said Nick not bothering to look up from his pile and Ellie nodded in agreement.
McGee questioned, "Where have I heard that before?"
"Must in the mall, Tim," answered Sloane from behind him.
"Oh, you're heading out?" asked Kasie who came up to get a couple of signatures from the team.
"Yeah! I'm done for the day. You heading out too?"
"Mhhm. We could walk out together. I just need a minute for these signs," waving paperwork in the team's face. She picked up her bag and linked her arm with Jack and the pair started to walk out. Kasie yelled behind her back, "When you're done with em, drop them off at the lab!"
A while later, Bishop was done and she decided to go home too.
"Well, I'm done. Pizza, beer, and movies, here I come!"
She dumped her share of the files at Gibbs' desk for signing, who went home even earlier than them; around the same time as Sloane...
"Night Bishop. See you Monday," said McGee and waved her off.
Nick on the other hand had a completely weird look on his face that Tim could not decode. It was something different, something never seen before on his face.
"Night Ellie..." he said partially dejected.
As she was switching off her lamp, Jimmy came in on his way home and said, "Hey Bishop. Gibbs told me to give you this. Night!" and handed her a piece of paper and left.
Eleanor was as confused as the other two on receiving a note from her boss. Before opening the note, her face was stoic and after opening it, there was a split second of her face dropping, and the next second, it was gone.
"All good, Ellie?" asked McGee. Torres was looking at her expectantly too.
"Yeah. Just a comment on the last case's paperwork," whilst hastily shoving it in her drawer. After a moment or so, she smiled and left to go home.
Torres finished an hour later and went home too. He was staring at his phone while leaving and waiting for the lift; the same phone which buzzed a number of times in the past hour, which was suspicious to Tim.
"Night McGee."
"Night."
As soon as he stepped in, Nick had a huge smile on his face and his nose stuck in his phone. McGee was still riding his train of thoughts and decided to work on it.
That's when he started to put the pieces together. The song that Bishop played in the morning was often seen playing on Nick's phone. She was wearing an anomalous black t-shirt today which caught Gibbs' attention too. These two were sneaking peeks at each other all day. They took breaks at or around the same time and one of these times, Bishop's lipstick looked a little smudged; which he had brushed aside as the work of a cup of coffee. Jimmy nodded at her and Torres too when he came up. He remembered a drunken Torres once saying that his favorite type was a woman with caramel-blonde hair, chocolatey-hazel eyes, and about five foot seven... and Bishop certainly fits the bill. What the hell was going on!? He also noticed that Torres' phone started buzzing incessantly after Ellie left. He recalled that these two were unusually close and comfortable while sitting; at least by office standards and the hand things these two used to engage in frequently. He had enough! He walked over to Bishop's desk and broke into her drawer. He saw the note that Gobbs had delivered to her and opened it to read it. He collapsed dramatically after going through it. It simply said in Gibbs' debatable penmanship - "Way to go Bishop! You finally broke Rule No. 12. Took you long enough"
Meanwhile, Torres walked into a small cafe where Bishop was already waiting for him, dressed quite nicely. "Well... look what the cat dragged in..." said Eleanor. Nick sheepishly replied, "Sorry. Couldn't decide what to wear."
"Who's the girl now?" she asked chuckling.
Torres sat down opposite his lady love and ordered food for them both.
"McGee was onto something today. Think he knows?"
"Nah. It'll take him a while to piece it up. He's slow. Thankfully so!"
"Still... I think we have to be careful if we want to wait to drop the bomb.." Ellie got cut off as Nick's lips were suddenly on hers, a little noise of surprise leaving her before she realized what was happening. Nick was kissing her. He had come over to her side and was actually making out with her! It was something she didn't feel often enough and she wanted more. Ellie snapped out of her stupor quickly and tightly gripped Nick's jacket tightly with her free hand, his free arm wrapped around her waist pulling her flush against him. They both went weak at the knees and neither would admit that this was the best kiss they ever had to date. Well, they wouldn't admit that the one in front of them was the one they wanted to kiss for the rest of their lives.
Surprisingly, Nick was the one to pull away first, and he heard a small whimpering noise, like that of a hungry kitten. He couldn't stop looking hot and making his smile smug. Ellie decided that she would totally get him back for that later. After all, the bed is an excellent place to do that, and if all goes well... that's where these two planned to end up for the weekend.
"Well, we kissed..." Nick grinned shamelessly. "So I guess it is a date. Isn't it? To the best of my 'Dating Handbook for Agents', this definitely counts as a date.
Ellie laughed and her cheeks were on the verge of hurting from how widely she was smiling.
"Yes, Luis. That was definitely a date kiss..."They both took some time to drink their scotch before she broke the silence.
"Well... I'm not sure if one kiss counts. I mean, my memory is a little foggy on the 'Dating Handbook'..."
Nick chuckled, and Ellie smiled fully as they met each other halfway for their second kiss. This was one passionate and fierce and bubbly and cute all at the same time. If only McGee could see them now and know of their weekend plans...
