'What do you tell your wife?' Vegan yawned as she rolled off me.
Vegan always asked what I'd say to Chi-Chi to sneak away or inquire about her.
I lay in bed beside her, panting; she always left me panting for breath after our affairs.
'What would you tell Bloomer?'
'I'd tell him that I'm going to screw his little brother and kiss Yamcha for me.'
She and Bloomer had separated for nearly three years. Vegan had a tiny cottage hidden in Southern District; she had it built two years ago with her modeling money.
Trunks lived with his father on the opposite side of the world. Vegan saw him every day, but she lived alone; she had only herself to answer to.
'This has to end.' I said. 'I have to end this.'
'And so you shall.'
She doesn't believe me; I've trying to end this for two and a half years now.
I didn't even believe myself anymore.
'I can't keep lying to my family, Vegan.'
She sat up and turned to me, her perky breast bouncing as she did.
'Then tell them the truth.'
'Vegan.' I sighed.
She got out of bed, and her seductive, uncovered body sauntered over to the door.
'I'm going to get myself a drink.' She huffed. 'Would you like one?'
'It's been three days, Vegan; I should go.'
'Then go.'
'I wish you'd stay home and train.' Chi Chi huffed as I sat at the table that night. She positioned a hefty plate of food in front of me. 'It gets so lonely when you're gone.'
'I'm here!' Goten whined.
She laughed and ruffled his hair; I smiled and picked at my food.
'I'm sorry.'
I apologized to her every time I came back from training.
Chi Chi sat down and watched me for a while, then asked, 'What's wrong?'
'Nothing, I'm just... tired.'
'Of what?' Chi-Chi asked. 'I made your favorite.'
'No, I don't feel well.'
'Oh, ok then.'
'May I be excused?'
'Sure, sure.'
'Are you ok, dad?' Asked Goten.
'Yes, I'm fine.'
My relationship with Vegan began two and a half ago; my wife served me divorce papers, took Goten, and went to live with her father.
Gohan had already started living with Videl, so I was alone. The following night, Vegan showed up; she caught Bloomer in bed with Yamcha. She needed a place to stay, and the loneliness was killing me; that's how it started, but it didn't get sexual right away.
At first, we were just talking about our failed relationships and sparring. We'd been living together for six months before we started having intercourse. One night, I found her crying; she and Bloomer got in a fight, and he said something like he never loved her and only stayed because of the kid.
When I held her in my arms, I only wanted to comfort her. Vegan isn't like Chi-Chi; she didn't cry and scream at every little thing. So to see her like this, so shattered, so distraught, it hurt.
I just wanted to stop the tears, but before I knew what was happening, we were kissing.
Until then, I'd only ever slept with my wife.
'You have nothing to feel guilty about.' Vegan retorted. 'She hasn't been your wife for six months. And you know my predicament; we've done nothing wrong.'
I never meant for it to happen again; after a while, it got easier and easier to be with her. Vegan never complained about me using the wrong fork at a restaurant. She never yelled at me about not making enough money. She never wanted me to change; I was perfect to her.
We went on like this for six months; then Chi Chi came back, saying that she wanted to try to fix our family.
Vegan actually encouraged me to do it; she said what we did would be our little secret. I tried to make it like it was; I honestly did, but we'd get into fights about the same goddamn things...
I only went to Vegan to vent just because the sexual part of our relationship was over; that doesn't mean we can't talk to each other, right?
It got sexual again almost immediately, and I missed her.
I missed being with her, being free to be me, unapologetically me.
I can't do that with Chi-Chi; I love her, but I can't be myself when with my family, my wife.
'No one has to know, Kakarotto.' She cooed one night while I was in her arms. 'Our little secret.'
And so, we keep our little secret.
