We rode together in the Capsule Corp plane; Eighteen helped Vegan apply her makeup while the children played. Krillin and Bloomer were standing near me, while Chi-Chi and Yamcha stood away from us. Probably to bad mouth Vegan without someone yelling at them.
'Did you know that Vegan was coming?' I asked Krillin.
'No, did you?'
'No.' He replied. 'Eighteen would have insisted that she came with us.' He looked at Bloomer. 'Why didn't you tell me?"
I glanced at Bloomer; he watched her like a wolf eyeing a lamb.
'Bloomer.' I said sharply.
'What?' He said, clearly irritated.
'Krillin asked you a question.'
'What did he ask?'
'Why didn't you mention Vegan coming?' Krillin asked.
'I didn't know. Trunks sprung her arrival on me 20 minutes before she came.' He finally turned to us. 'They have been sneaking around and meeting up for the last three years.'
'I didn't know that she wasn't allowed to see him.' I said.
'Of course, she's allowed to be with him; she's his mother!'
'Then what's the issue?'
'They could have told me!'
'You didn't want to hear about Vegan.'
He narrowed his eyes at me and turned back to Vegan.
'I'm Trunks' father, his reliable parent; I should have been informed if something happened to Trunks.'
'Like what?'
'Like what, what?'
'What could have happened to Trunks?'
'I don't know!'
'What could happen to him that his mother couldn't handle?'
'I'm his father.' He said finally. 'If something happens in his life, I need to know. Besides, no one even knows where she lives.'
'I do.' I said.
'So do i.' Krillin admitted sheepishly. 'I think Eighteen has a key.'
'You both know where she lives?!' We nodded. 'Well, where does she live?'
Why was he so eager to know where she lived? I didn't need him popping up and spoiling what little time we had together.
'Didn't your parents tell you?'
'Dad mentioned her wanting to build a cottage somewhere. I don't know any more than that.'
'Why not?'
'I don't know.'
'Did you scream at him too?'
'Keep your nose out of my affairs!'
'Vegan isn't your affair.'
'You are such a bastard!' Bloomer snarled.
Everyone stopped and stared at him; Bloomer stomped to the front of the plane with his parents as Chi-Chi and Yamcha walked over to us.
'What was that?' Chi-Chi asked.
'Bloomer is mad that Vegan is honoring his wishes.'
'What do you mean?'
'He's mad that no one told him where she lived.'
'Oh, well, he kind of should know.'
'He didn't want to hear about her.' I pointed out. 'You can't tell someone something if they don't let you.'
Chi Chi nodded in agreement. 'He's still Trunks' father. He should have known in case of an emergency.'
'Like what?'
'He could have been hurt-'
'I have senzu beans, his grandparents, and she's his mother knew where he was going.'
'She's been gone for three years-' Yamcha began before Vegan snarled, 'Shut up, curvă.'
'Vegan, that's not nice.' I said.
'When have I ever been nice, but I need her to keep her mouth shut about something that doesn't concern her!'
'Excuse me, but Bloomer and I-'
'Aren't married, hell, you're not even engaged. And the relationship between my son and me isn't, nor will it ever be, any of your business. And if you come near me again, I'll knock you out.'
Yamcha hurried away from Vegan as Chi-Chi turned to me. 'What wasn't nice?'
'What do you mean?'
'Vegan called Yamcha a... Uh, what was it again?'
'Curvă.' Vegan repeated.
'Yes, what does it mean?'
'Loose.'
'Loose?' Repeated Chi Chi. 'What do- oh.' She turned back to me. 'How do you know what it means?'
'Vegan taught me how to speak in our native tongue.'
Chi Chi stared at me in surprise. 'You learned something about other than fighting?!'
'Yes.'
Why did she think I was completely brain dead?
'Kakarotto soaked up my teachings like a sponge.'
'I could never get him to study the way I did with Gohan.'
'I have more information than you.' Vegan replied with a tiny smile.
'What could you possibly have more information about than me?!' Chi-Chi boomed. 'How to beat a stick with a rock?'
Everyone stared at them as Vegan's smile turned into a smirk; she was irritated.
'His brother.'
'The man who tried to kidnap our son?! Why does he want to know about him?'
I heard myself saying, 'Chi Chi, tu nu asculți.'
She turned at me in confusion as Vegan chuckled. 'Why would he want to know where he came from?'
'He's nothing like him!'
'I knew Raditz, and I know Kakarotto; they are similar in some ways.'
'Still, I know more about him than you!'
'Suppose you are right; I mean, I only know about his heritage, people, family.'
'My father was a scientist, and my mother was a butcher.' I told her to ease both women. 'I bet that's where Gohan gets his smarts from.'
'Oh.' Chi-Chi said. 'I wasn't aware; you don't talk about it.'
'You never like it when my sayian side flares up.'
I looked at her; Chi-Chi glared at Vegan, who was wearing a smirk as blush was applied to her cheeks.
