Arkham City
Monarch Theatre
Outside the building, Joker's thugs were cheering waiting to see Joker the Immortal like he promised. But they all went quiet in shock as they saw Batgirl carrying their boss's body, exiting the Monarch Theatre.
Joker's corpse was on full display. Harley gasped, stepping back in horror. Her pudding was dead. Gotham had lost the Clown Prince of Crime. The former Arkham collapsed to her knee, letting out a sorrowful wail as Batgirl continued her walk toward the exit of Arkham City.
The cops surrounded the main gates with Commissioner Gordon leading the charge.
"All units coordinate... what the?" To say that the cops were shocked to see Batgirl carrying Joker's corpse out of the facility was an understatement. She looked like hell. Like Having to walk through the nine circles type of hell.
"What the hell happened in there?" Gordon asked her in somewhat shock, Batgirl didn't answer her father's question she just left joker's body on the top of a squad car and stared at the corpse for a moment or two. "Batgirl? What happened?"
Batgirl finally looked at her father with a tired look, showing the wear the night has taken on her:both physically and mentally. "I told him a joke."
And with that, she left leaving the GCPD high ranking officer with more questions than answers.
Barbara Gordon: Joker's death has a certain irony to it. He didn't go out in a blaze of glory like he wished. Instead he exited stage right with a whimper and soon, he'll be nothing but ashes and forgotten. And there was nothing I could do except waiting for the sun to rise and remember the beginning.

One day ago.
North Gotham.
Batgirl was looking down from a perch of a building, seeing the civilians going on about their ordinary lives at the streets of Gotham. Well as ordinary as it can get here. It would've been the perfect scenario if not for one glaring issue on her left. She turned her head to the left side seeing the district that was once known as Old Gotham turned into a melting pot of war.
Arkham City. She snorted to herself in disbelief. More like War City based on the rumors about a bloody turf war inside the Super Max for the past several months.
Barbara Gordon: A lot of things had occurred in the last 14 months or so since the incident on Arkham Island. Quincy Sharp took credit for single handley bringing the Joker to custody. Using his newly found fame, he was able to gain enough votes to earn him the Mayor's office. His very first act was to shut down both the Asylum and Blackgate, He introduced a new maximum Security Prison called Arkham City, aimed to detain the worst of the worst within Gotham. He put an Swiss psychiatrist named Hugo Strange who was known for his questionable therapy methods in charge of Arkham City. Despite the numerous protest from several human rights groups and public figures, The City Council approved of the building plans for Arkham City. All of the previous Asylum patients along with the Blackgate inmates were brought in from one hellhole to another. Gotham has become a police state and not in a good way. Anyone with as much as a criminal record and those that tried to investigate either Strange or Sharp was thrown into jail. It's a hell on another hell.
She felt the hair on the back of her neck rise in alarm. She got company.

Chinatown.
Clock Tower
Batgirl arrived to her base of operations on her motorcycle where Prophet was at the Batcomputer. Built during the great Depression after World War 1, The Clock Tower was reconditioned to serve as a primary head quarter by Wayne Enterprises for Batgirl and her allies.
"Hey, Babs. Anything interesting happening tonight?" Prophet said, not taking his eyes off the screens.
Removing the cowl of her head, Batgirl got off the bike and turned it off as she went to greet her broker. "You could say that."
North Gotham.
A squad of 6 highly trained men equipped with the latest military firearms were moving stealthily and steady, spotting the priority target Batgirl standing on a perch of a building in North Gotham.
It was going to be easy pickings. Capturing Batgirl is gonna be easier than Batman.
"Tyger 1 to Tyger Actual. We got a visual on the target."
"Copy that, Tyger 1. You're clear to engage. Remember your orders."
The Tyger leader made a few hand signs and soon enough the Tyger squad split into two groups consisting of three each as they went their separate ways. Tyger 1 went to the left flank while Tyger 2 headed for the right. The Plan was to attack and subdue the high value target before bringing her into Arkham City.
The Tyger leader was stunned when he lost sight of Batgirl. She disappeared like a phantom.
"Tyger 2, I lost visual of Batgirl. Stand by." He reported to the commanding center.
He didn't have long to ponder where she'd gone because then Batgirl appeared startling the fellow tyger guards as she disarmed the leader of his assault rifle, using the butt of the firearm to strike him in the throat, making him lose air before delivering a blow to the temple, knocking him out. Tossing the firearm aside, She blocked a baton attack with her forearms from second Tyger guard and then struck him with some heavy body shots to the stomach and solar plexus. She uppercut him in the jaw for the finishing touch. She ducked under a right hook from a third tyger henchmen before parring a kick to the stomach. Holding the leg in place, She kicked the other leg out, bringing the last Tyger down to the concrete ground before bending the leg in two, breaking the kneecap. The Tyger guard howled in pain before being silent by a swift punch to the temple.
"Tyger Actual to Tyger 2. Tyger 1 is down. I repeat, Tyger 1 is down, over."
"What?!" Tyger 2 Leader exclaimed in shock before a pellet was dropped down, creating a smoke that engulfed Tyger unit 2. Batgirl used this to get the upper hand of the situation as she grabbed the head of Tyger 2 Leader and slammed him down into the ground, he was unconscious after that major blow to the head as Batgirl swept the legs off the second Tyger guard before punching him in the gut, sending him through the wooden wall. The final guard tried to intimate the Dark Dame by showing a few martial art moves.
Unimpressed, Batgirl made a quick work of him by striking the pressure points with well aimed hits before kneeing him in the groin and then struck him in the chest with a spin kick as the finishing blow. "Never show off during a fight."
Having taken care of the Tyger squad all together, Batgirl went to the second tyger guard who was injured for some needed answers. She pressed her knee down on his throat, making it difficult for him to breathe.
"Who sent you?" Batgirl demanded.
"Hugo. Strange." Tyger guard 2 croaked.

Clock Tower
"The self proclaimed 'Chosen Savior' of Gotham tried to have you arrested?" Prophet said after Batgirl was done explaining her encounter, referring to the nickname the Warden of Arkham City had gained from the Mayor following the efforts he made to reduce the crime rate.
Barbara nodded leaning against a book shelf. "It's the third time that's happened since Arkham City was opened 6 months ago." She referred to the first two encounters she had with the security firm that served as the security detail for super max prison. The first was a surprise, She fled rather than having to battle armed men but the second time she was a bit prepared. She took out three men before back up arrived.
"Maybe he was acting on Sharp's behalf?" Prophet suggested. "You know that our beloved mayor isn't too fond of vigilante justice."
The redheaded librarian quickly dismissed the theory with a quick shake of her head. Based on the interrogation she had with the Tyger guard, it came more from the European psychiatrist. Besides the Mayor wouldn't have the balls to do so given it would damage his reputation. "I don't think so. I think the orders came from the Warden himself. But Why? What's he planning?"
Prophet shrugged. "You got me. But you'll have plenty of time to figure that out in the morning." He got out from his chair and went to the exit. His shift was going to start early in the morning.
"See ya."
"Bye Shawn." Barbara said to him before walking up to the Batcomputer, claiming her seat. She pressed a button on the keyboard and several pictures of what appeared to be a ill joker inside Arkham City popped up. Time to do her own investigation. This time it was about the rumors that surfaced a month ago. It was about the fact Joker was dying. But of what was the question. She had a few theories on how. One: the titan overdose back on the asylum. Two: the chemical toxin inside his blood was starting to take its toll. Or three: it was just a sick perverted joke he cocked up with.

12 Hours Later
Arkham City
"Ahh!" The agonizing scream emitting from the GCPD commissioner's daughter echoed in the interrogation room as a electric shock awoke her up. That hurt.
"Wake up, Ms Gordon, we have much to discuss." The old bald man with glasses wearing a white lab coat said as he approached Barbara who was tied to a chair, cuffed to restraint her movements of her arms. It took her a moment to recognize him as the Warden of the Superprison.
"Strange? You are not getting away with this."
"I already have, unfortunately for you." Strange proclaimed with a sadistic grin on his face.

Chinatown
Clock Tower
Barbara was looking through the pictures in the Clock Tower with tired eyes when she noticed something very peculiar in a one of pictures the bat drone took, Tyger security guards handing military firepower to Penguin's men near the Museum.
"What the hell?" She muttered.
XXXX
Arkham City.
"Do you have any Idea how much trouble you're gonna get? When my father gets the wind of this..."
Barbara was silenced by another electric shock to her system, earning another yell from her mouth.
That one stung a bit more than the last one.
"Oh, I wouldn't worry about your father, Ms. Gordon. He will be dealt with in due time." Strange said vaguely. Barbara didn't like the smug tone in his voice. It was as if he knew something and that can only mean trouble.
Gotham Heights.
Barbara took her seat on the couch in her apartment that she shared with Jericho. Jericho wasn't gonna come home for another hour from work. He'd promised her that he would bring in some take out food for the evening. she watched the TV of a what appeared to be a peaceful protest from Bruce Wayne outside Arkham City.
"Good evening, Gotham. For the past year, a bloody and brutal gang war has taken place in the middle of our great city. How on Earth can the Mayor on his good conscience claim that Arkham City is good for the citizens of Gotham?"

Arkham City.
"Whatever it is you're up to, Strange, it's not gonna end well for you."
Strange let out a chuckle of smugness as he leaned his head in too close to her face. "I sincerely doubt it. Because by the end of the night, I will become a hero. Just like you and Mr Wayne...Batgirl." Barbara Gordon's eyes widened in shock of his deduction of her dual secret.

Gotham Heights.
Suddenly Tyger guards burst into their apartment startling her greatly as the tyger guards surrounded her, giving her no chance to escape. "What the..."
"Target secured." One of the Tyger men used the butt of the rifle to strike her in the head, knocking her out.
