Jesse's Question

Disclaimer: Something of a sequel to 'Thea's Solution For Roy' and is set Post-Crisis but Jesse and her father managed to get off Earth-2 before the Anti-Matter Wave got them. I'm ignoring the whole Speed Force dying drama as well for this.

It'd been roughly two weeks since Wally had returned to Central and in that time, he'd taken to sticking around in Keystone City to handle old business. Something Jesse had been a little bummed out over as she had been wanting to speak with him and even though he'd told her they'd talk after he handled some personal business, she had started to think he was avoiding her altogether. As she had wondered just what exactly could keep him so busy over there that didn't require being 'Kid Flash' since he had only been seen in that manner a few times the past two weeks. Part of her wondered if this was his way of getting back at her for the way she had handled their break up but Jesse chastized herself for that as she knew he wasn't that kind of person. But it did have the habit of making her feel guilty again for how she had handled that those years ago. "Look, all I know is, he's either giving back or selling off all the Cars he got in Races back in the day while seeing old friends." Joe told her after Jesse decided to finally ask someone about it.

And having felt he was the best choice out of everyone on the team. "So you don't think he's just avoiding me?"

"I don't think he is but that's not really for me to say as he hasn't said anything to me." He told her with a sympathetic look.

Jesse nodded in defeat as she sighed. "Guess I should just go and confront him then."

"You didn't hear it from me but he's at a party right now for a friend's sister who just turned 18." Helpfully informed the retired Captain.

Getting him a hug and a kiss on the cheek from the younger Girl before she sped off from the West Household. "I hope I did the right thing but at least she won't be mopin' around anymore."

It'd take Jesse a little bit to find where the party Joe mentioned Wally's at thanks to not thinking to ask him about it, nicely enough it'd be at a Race Track where she found her Ex and his friends. "I guess it would make sense he'd be here." She muttered to herself as she nervously went off to find Wally.

Whom, as it would turn out, was passing on the Nickname of 'Tail Lights' to a Latina Girl named Alexia. "I won't let you down, Wally!" The girl told him and he smiled at her before hugging her.

"I know you won't, Kiddo." He replied before spotting Jesse in the crowd.

Something Alexia took notice of and asked who she was. "An old friend, let me go see what she wants, okay?"

"Okay, but don't take too long or I'll have to kick your ass. And hers too."

Chuckling, Wally made his leave to where Jesse was standing. "What's up?"

"I know this isn't the right time but can we talk? Please?" She asked of him somewhat pleadingly, causing him to sigh.

"Yeah, sure. Let's go up into the stands."

As they did, Alexia watched with unhidden Jealousy as growing up she'd always had a crush on Wally! "Old friends, right."

Once the former Lovebirds were in the stands, Jesse quickly got to business. "Are, are you avoiding me?" She asked him and shocking him over it.

"What!? No! I've just been pretty busy, Jesse." Wally immediately told her.

Jesse cocked her head to the side with her arms crossed. "Really? Because you've had time to talk to your dad and everyone else but me the last two weeks."

She watched as he made to refute her words and then stop as he realized she might've actually had a point. "Huh… Wow, I, I guess I was avoidin' you." Realized the young Man and causing her to feel hurt by his words.

"I thought I had everything handled where you were concerned, Jesse, but I guess after seein' you two weeks ago it wasn't completely handled like I thought." Considered Wally to her.

Sure, he hadn't found love with someone else just yet given all his travels and the like, but he was certain he didn't feel that same spark for Jesse anymore. Especially given the fact he'd spent a few additional years on his own in a Monastery for Speedsters on another Earth before Crisis had happened. But just because he didn't feel that spark didn't mean old hurts hadn't completely gone away. "S-So where do we go from here? Because I want to be in one another's lives again, Wally. I realized way too late that how I handled things between us was just so wrong and I've been wanting to make up for it for so long." She told him with glistening eyes.

Yes, she had wanted to put a focus on being Jesse Quick and herself but that didn't mean she had to cut out Wally from her life. And if she could, she'd go back and prevent herself from doing that. Unable to stop herself, Jesse rushed up to him and hugged him as she began to cry. Leaving Wally to hold on to her with a heavy sigh. "I honestly don't know where we go from here." He replied seconds later into her hair.

But maybe they'd figure it out together.

Author's Notes: I've never cared for the shit way the writers handled things between Wally and Jesse and this is kind of one way of dealing with that.
