Mario never thought he would die in this way. He had no idea what happened, everything after he hit his head on the ground, everything went black. He thought this black hole would eat him and that was it. In his subconscious, he saw visions, visions he did not know what they meant. He saw the 8 Stones from before, and many locations he had never been to before. He even saw new faces and old ones, good and bad. Then he heard evil laughter. After all of that, Mario began to slowly regain consciousness. He woke up to feeling something poking him on the nose. His eyes groggily opened up and he met eye to eye with a chicken. Mario was confused but was too out of it to move it off. He moved his head to see Mayor Goodway looking around.
"I hope Ryder gets here soon…" She said to herself. Mario could tell the woman was distressed so he achingly moved, causing Chikaletta to jump off Mario. Slowly, he elevated himself with his arms and got up into a sitting position. He got a head rush and he held his head to restabilize himself. His vision blurred a bit but only for a little while. Luckily, due to him being very durable, he didn't break anything, and he only had one cut on his arm from the brick that scraped him on his way into the wormhole.
Mario then jumped to his feet after regaining his coordination and looked around his environment. He was expecting to be in some sort of dark realm due to that black hole, but everything looked surprisingly normal. There were buildings, trees, and people walking around without a care in the world. In front of him, he saw the Beach and the large body of water before him as well as the bridge that went above it. Following the lineage of the bridge, he saw the Paw Patrol look out at the tower which He took for a Lighthouse. Looking behind him he saw City Hall. He could definitely tell he wasn't in the Dark Lands or the Mushroom Kingdom anymore. He then returned his gaze back to Mayor Goodway and he slowly walked to her. He was significantly shorter than her so he stood on his toes to tap her on the shoulder.
"Excuse me, ma'am?" He began.
"Yes? How can I-" She then screamed when she turned around to see that the man that was unconscious was now awake. Not only that he was standing and not even limping or standing funny or acting like he broke anything. Mario was startled a bit and backed up.
"Sorry, ma'am," Mario apologised, "I didn't mean to startle you, but do you know where I am?"
"But how?! You were- weren't you?!" She was lost for words. Mario was a bit confused. He didn't know in this place it wasn't normal for people to fall from the sky and live without any injuries.
"Are you okay?" He asked, "You're acting like you saw a Boo."
Mayor Goodway was confused by Mario's analogy but nonetheless, answered Mario,
"I am okay, it's just… you fell from the sky and you took quite a fall. I thought you'd be dead from it but you look fine." Mario wasn't sure what to think. He has had people be concerned for his health or any injuries he may take but she was more concerned than most people he knew. Mario wanted to ask again where he was but noticed something approaching. It was the Paw Patroller, returning from Adventure City. Mario was both curious and amazed at the truck. There weren't many trucks or cars where he lived and any vehicles he saw were either taxis, motor bikes and go karts. He had never seen such a big truck before. It stopped before them and the side opened. This took Mario's fascination to a whole new level. Technology in the Mushroom Kingdom wasn't all that popular either, but it was just as , if not more, amazing than magic which he was used to. Out of the truck came Ryder with Marshall and the rest of the pups minus Chase.
"Mayor Goodway!" Ryder said, running up, "We're here, where is the man that fell from the sky?"
"Well… uh…" Mayor Goodway began and gestured over to Mario who looked lost on what they meant.
"This is the man that fell from the sky?" Marshall asked who was confused. He was also surprised to see a talking dog, but to be honest, he has seen much more wacky things on his adventures.
"I fell from the sky?" Mario wondered out loud, "That would explain why I was laying in that flower bed."
Ryder, Marshall and the rest of the pups looked at Mario weirdly.
"How awe you standing?!" Zuma blurted out.
"What do you mean?" Mario asked, "I just fell out of the sky, I have been through much worse falls."
"Woah!" Rubble said in awestruck, "Are you a superhero?"
The pups looked at Rubble with side eyes. Rubble embarrassingly rubbed the back of his head.
"In a way, sort of." Mario answered his question, "Anyways who are all of you? And-"
"Your arm!" Marshall pointed out, Mario looked at his arm to see the cut, "That pretty big. Let me bandage that for you and see if you have any other injuries."
Mario hesitated to help. He wasn't sure if he could trust these new people and dogs. However he was lost or every worse, misplaced so he responded to them with,
"If I let you check me, will you tell me where I am?"
"Of course!" Ryder answered for them all, "We are the Paw Patrol, helping people is what we do. And this Adventure Bay." The rest of the pups nodded with him. Mario did too and then allowed Marshall to do a check up on him. Which Mario thought was pointless since he was doing all good.
Chase was nearing the Lookout. His mission was to check around it to see if there was another person in need of rescuing. Once he got there, he jumped off his motorcycle and began to search around. He didn't see anything.
"Time to use my trusty nose." He said and began to sniff for anything unusual. He got one thing. The smell of mushrooms, but slightly different. He followed the scent all the way to the Lookout elevator. He figured whoever was here, used it and went to the top. He entered the elevator as it took him to the top. The first thing he felt was a draft. He looked up and saw there was a hole in the roof of the Lookout.
"What the?" Chase wondered out loud and then he got the scent again. He looked in front of him and saw a man in green with a big moustache laying on the floor unconscious. It was Luigi. He slowly approached him and stared for a little while. He then got the courage to nudge him. He didn't get a response. Chase figured he needed Marshall here so he was about to call Ryder, but was stopped when he heard a distorted bark. His ear twitched and he looked around.
"Who's there?" He demanded, "This is Officer Chase of the Paw Patrol! Show yourself!" He didn't get a response after a while of silence he felt something was wrong. His ear twitched again and he turned around and saw another dog on the man's body. It was pale white and had white glowing eyes with a red collar and golden tag. It barked which sounded squeaky and distorted. Out of reflex, Chase called out his net cannon,
"Arf! Net!" He fired and he was surprised to see it phase right through the pup. This dog titled it's head before rummaging through the man's pockets and retrieved a golden bone from it. He ate it
in one bite and then proceeded to lift the man up which caused him to wake up. Luigi stood up and looked around and saw his ghost dog. The new comer dog jumped through the floor and disappeared.
"Thanks Polterpup!" Luigi thanked his dog friend, "Now where am I?" He looked around and turned around and saw Chase. They stared for a while in silence.
"Uh… Hello, I-" He was cut off by Luigi's scream. Luigi was surprised by a talking dog. He shouldn't be surprised but he was shocked when most dogs in his world just bark. Chase backed up a bit startled before accidentally firing another net on Luigi. It got stuck on him and he began to freak out running around the Lookout. Chase was unsettled by this man's over the top panicking. He had to stop him. It just might be a bit hard doing that…
Mario was a bit confused after hearing he was in a town he has never heard of. Seeing that he could trust these people and pups, he decided to tell them about himself and where he was from. He even told him what he was known for.
"Wait so let me get this straight," Rubble said looking at Mario who was getting his arm wrapped up in a bandage. "Your name is Mario and you are a superhero in a place called the Mushroom Kingdom and you battle a guy named Bowser for a living?"
Mario shrugged, "Not a paying job but I do what I do to make people happy and to keep them safe."
"Dude! That sounds awesome. But whewe is the Mushwoom Kingdom?" Zuma asked Mario, it sounded hard to believe.
"I actually don't know," Mario thought about it, "All I know is that magical things can happen there? How about here? Don't magical events happen here?"
"Not really, unless you call helping people magical." Rocky answered, scratching his ear.
Mario was a bit puzzled. Everything here was normal, which was abnormal for him. He started to think he was misplaced. He also wondered where the Princess and his Brother were.
"You said you have a brother too?" Marshall asked, tightening the bandages around his arm.
"Yes, but I don't know where he is, he disappeared at the same time a giant black hole appeared."
"Black hole?" Ryder was a little concerned about what Mario just said, "How did that appear?"
"I have no idea." Mario simply put it.
"Well there you go!" Marshall said as he patted the bandage he put on Mario's arm, "All bandaged up. And I did a quick x-ray scan and nothing's broken!" This didn't surprise Mario.
"Good job Marshall." Ryder commended him for a job well done.
"I must admit this must be the strangest thing that has ever happened in Adventure Bay." Mayor Goodway stated, "Could things possibly get any stranger?"
"Mario? Who are you talking to out there?" A muffled voice came from Mario's pocket. Everyone looked at him and Mario felt a little uncomfortable.
"What?" Mario asked, "It's just my ally Starlow."
And with that Starlow came out of Mario's pocket and levitated in front of him.
"Mario? You okay? After you hit your head I thought you were out for good!" Starlow said inspecting Mario, "And your arm is bandaged? What happened?"
"I'm fine Starlow," Mario began, "And to answer your question, these fine people and poochy's helped me."
The pups were confused by Mario's analogy, and they showed this by tilting their heads. Starlow looked over at them.
"Really?" Starlow said a bit baffled, "I wasn't expecting you to make new friends already."
The pups were now shocked that this floating talking circle thing was speaking to them, and the fact that it was in Mario's pocket the whole time.
"Hello Starlow," Ryder greeted as he walked up to her, "My name is Ryder, these are my Pups Zuma, Rocky, Rubble, Skye and Marshall."
As they were introduced, they all waved and said hello.
"And I am Mayor Goodway, the mayor of Adventure Bay!" Mayor Goodway greeted energetically, "And this is my Darling Chickaletta! Say hello to Starlow, my little chicky!"
Chickaletta clucked not paying Starlow any mind,
"It's… just a chicken?" Starlow said, frowning nervously. After that strange greeting from that bird, Mario returned her gaze back to Mario.
"Mario! Where's the Princess and Luigi?!" Starlow asked with fear in her voice.
Mario looked at her with unsureness in his eyes, "I don't know Starlow." Mario looked down and cursed himself in his thoughts. He remembered that his brother fell through that wormhole and he couldn't save him, nor could he do the same for Peach. Ryder felt they were in need of help, so he was about to offer his assistance when the Lookout started calling his Pup Pad. he figured it was Chase so he pressed the answer button. He was met with Chase's face looking like he was under stress.
"Hey Chase. Did you find anyone?" Ryder asked. He was then met with a scream that sounded like distress. "Is everything okay?"
"Ryder sir, there was someone at the Lookout! Now he is freaking out and-" He then suddenly stopped to dodge a lightning bolt. Ryder's eyes widened at that sight.
"Chase?! What was that?!" Ryder asked, sounding surprised.
"This man is firing lightning at me. He nearly hit me a few times!" Chase answered dodging another bolt.
"Who are you?!" Was heard from the other side. Mario knew that voice too well, because he grew up with it. It was his brother Luigi!
"Luigi?!" Mario and Starlow shouted. He was relieved his brother was alive. He wanted to tell him he was here but by the time he jumped up high into the sky knocking Marshall off him and got to the Pup Pad, Luigi shot another bolt of lightning, this time hitting the Lookout's computer causing it to shut down. The other end of the call went black for Ryder.
"Chase? Chase!" Ryder said trying to re-establish contact but to no avail.
"That was Luigi! Once again he's overreacting." Starlow said, trying to pardon Luigi's actions.
Mario knew he had to get to that Lookout to see his brother, so he then quickly asked,
"Where is your Lookout?" Ryder then pointed at the tower he thought was a lighthouse.
"Over there." Ryder then answered.
Marshall got up after being knocked down, shaking his head,
"He sounds like he was distressed."
"Luigi is a bit timid and scares easily," Starlow explained, "We need to get over there and calm him down. Surely he will when he sees you are alright."
Mario nodded, as Starlow returned to Mario's Pocket and then began to run over to Lookout, and crossed the road to do so.
"Look out!" Skye shouted to Mario. At the same moment a car was coming down the road. I honked it's horn alerting Mario about the danger coming. The car was going too fast to stop. What happened next shocked everyone. Mario jumped, but not a normal jump, he jumped higher than one person should. He sailed over the car and landed on the other sidewalk before starting to run again.
"Whoa." Zuma said, trying to process what happened, as were the others, "Did you just see what I just saw?"
"He jumped over that car, effortlessly." Rocky said, answering him.
"COOL!" Marshall and Rubble both said. Everyone looked at them. A little embarrassed on saying that out loud they both gave awkward smiles.
"Come on Pups!" Ryder broke the awkward silence, "We need to go with him!"
Ryder then ran to the Paw Patroller and the pups followed suit. However Marshall tripped over his legs and tumbled forward. He then sailed into the Paw Patroller before the rest of the pups with a crash.
Marshall laid there for a bit before getting up,
"Hey! I may not be able to jump as high as Mario, but I can surely tumble farther!" He comically said which earned a laugh from the rest of the pups. The rest got in and the Paw Patroller was off to the Lookout.
