Lukas Oldenburg POV
The day was sunny, as the people standing in line for their next rations; one of them being was Lukas Oldenburg who like his peers was waiting for the rations to be delivered to them. Tensions in wall Rose have started to get more and more heated, with the refugees and the residents of wall Rose. It was mostly little things, but as of late more fights started to breakout, not only that but the food situation was also getting worse, in six mouths lease and lease food was being had out with a huge number of people fleeing to wall rose. Also with no kings Intervention the wall Maria was still not taken back, and that could only meant one thing, the king has completely abounded his people to their enemies. And now Marley was sending the nine titans after them. As he was thinking his thoughts were interrupted by a friendly voice calling his name.
"Good Morning Lukas" said a man the same age as him. Author Alert, he was a good man one of the first people to meet him and help him with settling in, and as of late, with the fall of wall Maria.
"So the food problem hasn't been fixed and as it seems its only getting worse" he more stated then asked.
Lukas Sighed. "Yes and not only that, but tensions are rising, just yesterday some refugees and residents from wall rose broke out into a fight, two people died in the fighting, If nothing is to be done soon, then things my hit the breaking point ". Lukas stated as Author could only nodded in agreement to the statement.
If only things could go differently, the total population of the walls was already of overpopulated with a total of 3.5 million people living in the walls the total deaths of the fall of wall Marie is some were 200,000 people died, the other got to wall rose. But rose and wall Sine can only feed 2.9 million people at best, meaning that at least 400,000 people who were going to starve even more are going to starve if the rations end.
In the past 20 years lot advancements in the farming Industry came up, with new equipment and a four-year crop rotation method and With medical advancements. The population of the walls increase from 1 million to 3.5, but even with the technological advancements, they still could barely feed that number, and with the loss of wall Maria where most food was produce, things were going to end bad if the government doesn't do anything and fast.
"So how are the kids doing" Lukas asked Author, after the fall Author took in Mikasa and Eren for the time being, Armin was his grandson. After the death of their mothers death and father disperses.
"Nothing much, Doctor Yeager's boy still wants to join the scouts, and Mikasa will propbely join him in that endeavor and Armin is also looking at joining the military sadly" Author said looking at to somewhere. Lukas nodded, the Eren form what he knew always watend to join the scouts and the Arkeman followed Eren almost everywhere.
"So how's Leon, has he been doing okay" Author asked.
"Mostly Okay, most of the shock and aftermath is gone and he is talking finally he has become more talkative" Lukas answered; he hoped everything was ok with Leon but the truth was he didn't know. After waiting his time came up and he got his rations for the day, and then saying goodbye to his friend before leaving to where he and Leon was staying at the moment. In the pass six mouths a lot of things happened for them one was he saw his brother again he was doing good and said if something happened he could take in Leon. Also Leon has become more kin on joining the military, he wasn't happy about that but what he could do, after losing his mother and seeing her dead body, Leon just changed. He should have seen that coming, nobody after seeing that wouldn't change and after seeing his mother that loved him with her entire Heart die in front of his eyes well that was just expected. And he couldn't blame him, Leon wanted to save his people and regain his home that he lost.
As walking through the main street of the refugee camp he had seen a crowd in front of a wall talking and shouting. Wanting to see what the commotion was about he went up to the crowd and started to move up to the front after getting there and seeing what the whole commotion was. And what he saw froze him in spot as he read.
Royal decree
By order of the king and the royal assembly starting in one mouth from now operation to retake wall Marie will begin. All refugees of age of 15 or higher are to be conscripted into the task force and be prepared for the day the operation begins, any refusal our resisting to the conscription will have the conscript's family and friends will be exacted. He now understood on why there was a commotion, and why people where mad, he was mad at this. He knew the government and king always found a way to bullshit its self out of intervention or saving there people. But this was new; he didn't think the queen or king would kill off over 500,000 people to fix the food problem. Worse of all what will he be telling Leon about this and how will he live with this. He needed to contact Tobias he is the only family he has left.
Leon Oldenburg POV
It was a normal day for Leon as any other could be after the fall. He started getting ready to tall his grandfather on his planes of joining the military and he didn't know what reaction he would have. He had plans for the scouts so he could retake what was toking away from him by the titans and nothing was going to hold him back. He also wanted to ask his grandfather to start teaching him how to use their family powers. His thoughts were interrupted by some commotion.
"You're just a bunch of cowards!" a boy shouted.
"WHAT DID YOU SAY BRAT!" a garrison solder said to the boy.
"If you did your dame work, wall Marie wouldn't have fall".
"Thanks to us we this walls still stand" one garrison solder answered, before the bet the kid.
Leon knew the kid and the other two who were helping him up, the boy was Eren Yeager the son of Grishish Yeager, and the one kid who said he would kill every titan on the steamboat. In the past six months the kid was getting into trouble with the solders, the Kid helping him up was Armin Alert the grandson of Author Alert, who was a friend to his grandfather, he always tried to stop fights that Eren would start, and was the more level headed in the group. Last was the girl who he now knew was Mikasa Ackerman, she was the most quiets out of the three and like Armin tried to keep Eren from doing something stupide, she also was the only one to notes him when he was close by.
"Eren how much times I told you need to stop starting fights" said Mikasa.
"They started," he answered, her.
"And who gotten betting up Eren" now Armin spoke .
'it seems like the kid still is causing trouble around, as always' Leon though.
Leon had better things to do then to listing on to their conversation. He started to walk to his places where he and his grandfather lived at the moment; he would need to get there before nightfall. He was going to ask his grandfather to start teaching him on how to use the family powers that he had and fighting in general, it would be better to him to learn from somebody then learn it himself and if he wanted to join the army and the scouts he would need it if he wanted to survive long enough.
As he walked through the main street of the refugee camp, felt he was being watched, he knew it was Mikasa but didn't react on it he needed to find his grandfather and he didn't have time for this today. In the six mouths as fall Maria fall he and Mikasa would bump heads time to time, they never really talked with each other. The only thing he knew was her first and last name, including the power that she held from the Ackerman's bloodline, it explained way very little people wanted to fight her. After some time he finally gotten to his place that he lived at the moment.
It was a one room apartment with two beds in the far corners of the room and a table in the middle. He would say that they got lucky on getting this place most of the refugees lived in bunkhouse or in tents outside. It could be said that he would take this place then the bunkhouse, and he was happy about that at least. As said he mostly got himself ready for the military by doing excuses, and though it wasn't anything big, he would reader be at least fit then completely out of shape. After sometime the door to the apartment open and there his grandfather was caring the rations he had for them, but something was off, he looked worried and sadden by something, Leon thought of starting a conversation with his grandfather.
"Good afternoon grandfather, how's been your day," Leon asked then getting a look from him, before the old man sigh.
"It been fine as always" after answering Leon, he didn't say a word. This was very weird for Leon his grandfather was the talkative type of person, who liked to start conversations and very little time he was completely quiet that was after the death of his father. After sometime his grandfather spoke up.
"Leon… we needed to talk" his grandfather said, Leon only nodded a bit before getting a bit worried. His grandfather sited down at the table waiting for Leon to join him, after that his grandfather started to explain.
"It seems that the royal government is preparing an operation to retake wall Maria in one mouth" he said with sadden saying that for some reason he was unhappy. For Leon this was good, they could final get their home back from the titans and stops living in the dup they called a refugee camp.
'This means we can go home, but why is grandfather sad or he didn't finish'. Leon though why his grandfather looked saddens.
"The people taking part in the operation are Wall Maria residents who are older than 15 and the scouts, any refusal or resistant's to conception will end with that persons family and himself executed" his grandfather said.
'WHAT, the government is going to send civilians who will have only what one mouth to get them self's ready, it's going to be a massacre' Leon was completely shocked with the revelation, the government was going to Massacre HUGE number people for them to feed most of humanity. But worse of all, his own grandfather was going to be one of the people to go on the operation, he was already older than 50.
"But wait that means that you will be also on the operation" Leon said with his grandfather only sighing in response.
"I'm sorry Leon" he said.
"NO I won't let them" Leon shouted he had already lost his father, mother and other family that he had, and now he was going to lose his grand farther, he won't have and now of all time he just couldn't.
"Don't be stupid Leon they said any refusal will end with that person family and himself executed meaning you and your granduncle and his grandson" Lukas spoke up he couldn't have Leon doing something stupid that he will regret.
"But they ca…!"Leon tried to say before being interrupted.
"YES they can Leon and they will, I'm sorry but that is all" he said, Leon was on verge of tears as he could believe it he just couldn't. As he was about to run out his grandfather spoke up and said that changed the mood.
"But that's not all you will be living with your granduncle after I leave, but there is another thing I must tell you but you must understand that you can't tell anyone this anyone, do I make myself clear, Leon". Leon could only nodded he didn't understand what can be more imported then what he was just told but sill listened to what his grandfather was about to say.
"Leon want do you know about the time before the titans" his grandfather said, Leon looked confused at the equation, and only said what he though.
"Well somewhere between 743 the titans appeared and killed off all most all of humanity, with the only survivors escaping to the walls" he said this was what all of them learned in school and was the history of their world wasn't it, but way did it matter at the moment he didn't understand. But when he looked at his grandfather his face should something that he could understand, then his grandfather spoke up.
"Well that is what everyone is told but the truth is far from it" he said.
' wait is he impaling that people live outside the walls, but how is that possible' Leon was now more confused on what his grandfather was talking about, what there were people that lived outside of the walls he though.
"The truth is Leon that humanity has not gone extinct outside the walls, that is the truth!" Lukas said.
One Mouth Later
Lukas Oldenburg POV
As standing in one of the columns of the conscripts writing for their final moments Lukas was thinking about his life form meeting the king and his brother for the first time to the moment he first meant his wife. Also when his first son was born, to where he was forest into hiding to that talk he had with Leon one month ago about the operation and the truth. He was sad that it came to this, but there was nothing he could do about it now, he can only trust that Leon and Tobias could finish what he couldn't free the people of Paradise from the Reiss and fight back Marley and return the Oldenburg family to greatens. His brother had agreed to take care of Leon and teach him how to use his powers. He looked into the crowd finding Leon standing and looking sad, almost crying, Lukas only nodded and smiled at him.
'Don't worry kid, at list I will die fighting as did my forefathers" Lukas though as he looked at Leon, behind Leon stood his brother Looking at him with sadness, even his brother who often was more of an ass still sadden that another part of his family was about to meets his end.
'Take care of him Tobias; he will need it in the upcoming battles he will have to fight very soon' Lukas was now looking at the gate ones more , this would be the last time he would see this gate in fact the walled city itself. And that was all he could do now soon they will begging the operation and truth is he didn'tknow what to do. At the moment he felt a tap on his shoulder, he turd his hand and meant Author face, Author was also Part of the operation as they were both over the age of 15.
"So it came to this didn't it old friend" Author said looking at Lukas.
"Sadly it did Author" Lukas answered.
"Well at least we can trust the next generation for a better future then starvation" said Author.
"Yes we can, so how did Armin take the news" Lukas said as looking at Author, Author went quiet but then answered the question.
"Not very well he couldn't stop crying for two whole days even Mikasa and Eren looked sadden by it" Lukas question was answered.
"I'm sorry about that Author" Lukas said.
"Don't be, you your self are leaving Leon" Author answered.
"Yes I'm only hope he will accomplish what I asked of him" Lukas said.
"Well I would just want to say it was interesting knowing you Lukas, let's hope the after Life is better than this hell" Author said jokily.
"Yes let's hope about that" as Lukas said this, the solder in front called that began of the operation to retake wall Maria.
'Well it seems it begins" he looked at Leon before looking back in front.
'Goodbye Leon' he though.
"MOVE OUT" said the man in front of the formation being somebody big in the scouts, as they moved Lukas could only think of one thing and that was his family.
'John, George, Sofia, Rose, and father I will be joining you soon, but before that I will go out fighting' was his thoughts before the gates close behind him.
Leon Oldenburg POV
Leon was looking as the gate closed he still could believe this was happening but then again the same he thought about his mother. He looked around the crowd meeting hundreds of people from teens to children to the residents of Trost looking to the gate before slowly the people started to move away, as he looked his eyes meant with the Orientale girl, as she looked at him, with something of understand meant, but he could even look at her long he was still sad at what happened. As he felt an arm on his shoulder, his granduncle looked at him with sadness. He only seen his granduncle ones in his life but still it felt hard for him to say anything.
"Let's go Leon there is nothing we can do anymore" Tobias said, Leon could only nodded at his grand uncle as they moved away from the gate, thinking of the talk he had with.
"So are you going to do what your grandfather asked you to do" Tobias asked looking at Leon.
"Yes, I will do what my grandfather asked me to do and save my people" he answered Tobias, at that Tobias could only nod, as both moved on Tobias started to talk.
" As I have promised my brother I will start teaching you how to use both our power, the ODM gear and had to hand fighting, but do understand, I will not go easy on you" he said looking at Leon. At the same time Leon could only nod understanding the kinds of people he will have to go against.
"I understand granduncle, so when do we start" as Leon asked Tobias, the old man just smiled and said.
"Tomorrow if you like".
N/A: Well that was Chapter 3 sorry took me so long to post it, had a lot of work lets just say, I also should explain some stuff. the First being that this will probably be a Mikasa x Oc paring for this story and there my be explicit content in the story, still thinking about that. well that is all for now, next chapter will come out some where next Sunday.
