Chapter 2: 104th cadet corps
Year c.847
Paradise Island, Remnant of Eldia
Training camp, somewhere close to, Wall Rose,
Leon Oldenburg POV
"Detect your hearts" yelled their instructor.
As all the cadets did as said, saluting to their instructor while standing in formation, waiting for the beginning of their new lives as cadets of the training corps to being. One of these cadets knew he would pass with flying colours, his height was of 5.33 foot, with black hair and blue eyes, this cadet were no other than Leon Oldenburg; he knew what next would happen he had already been through this with his granduncle, He went through some intents training to get him where he need in 2 years and with that he didn't think it would be that heard for him to get into the top ten and the MPs. But for the other cadets it will be much harder being that most had no military training before joining.
"Today you start your new life as cadets of the 104th cadet corps" the man said, standing in front of the cadets.
"My name is Keith Shadis and unfortunately for all of you… I will be instructor" the now Keith Shadis added in has he started to walk through the formation.
"At this moment you are nothing but livestock for the titans to eat and shit out. But in three years it will be my job to make you little shits into titan killing marching's do I make myself clear cadets" he yelled.
"YES SIR" yelled back the formation.
"Now not all will you make it and some of you may even die in the proses but I can say this that this three years, will make it will become humanities strongest solders and defenders" Keith Shadis said as he walked through the formation stopping in front of a small blond kid, which Leon remembered.
'Wait a second is that Armin didn't think I and him will be in the same corps and if he's here than the other two must be here too.' Leon thought to himself.
"Who are you little shit!" the instructor yelled at the blond.
"Sir, Armin Alert form Shiganshina District sir" Armin answered the man.
"Well is it that the most retarded name I ever heard in my life" Shadis said.
"Who the fuck named you your parents" the instructor yelled into Armin's face.
"My grandfather SIR!" Armin answered back to the instructor as.
"Well then cadet Alert why do you of all people what to join the military" the instructor continued.
"To contribute to humanities survival and victory SIR!"
"Well that's JUST fantastic you will be the first to be feed to the titans" he said as he moved on from the kid to his next victim. That next victim would be medium height dirty blond standing with a smug look on his face, the first big mistake the cadet maid.
"Well what's your fucking story" he asked the boy.
"Names Jean Kirstein from Torst district sir, and I'm here to get into the Military Police" Jean said to the instructor with a smug face. Leon knew that this was not going to end will not only he was saying it smugly he was also saying this to a former scout.
"Is that so, you want to live in the inner districts do you" the instructor said looking directly at the cadet.
"Yes s…" but before he could finish the instructor head butted the cadet, as the cadet fell on the ground.
"Who the fuck told you can sit cadet, before you think of going to the military police you will have to go through me do you understand cadet!" he said. Leon could only smile he knew that something like that would happen, the cadet was asking for it.
'should have seen that coming, you did ask for it' Leon though even to a small laugh came out of him but sadly for him it seemed like Shadis still had good hearing.
"YOU!" the instructor was now looking and heading to his direction.
'Shit didn't now he had god herring still, but then again he was a scout'.
"Who are you cadet".
"Leon Olden, from Shiganshina District, sir" he answered.
"Well then cadet Olden do you think I'm funny" Shadis asked.
"No sir"
"So you think I CAN'T be funny cadet, do you cadet" Shadis said
"That is not what I mea…" as he was about to say something he felt that raging in his head form an upcoming attack from Shadis but he didn't move. He didn't what to piss of the instructor on the first day, and so he got punched in the stomach it was a good punch he would say but his granduncle punched much harder than this. So he stepped back a bit before returning to the formation. To say the cadets and the instructor himself where shocked.
"Well so it seems your strong Cadet not all people can just stand up after that I will give you that, but understand cadet Olden, you do what I say, from shiting to eating to laughing understand." said Shadis as he moved on, his other victims would be a cadet's by the name of Thomas Wagner and a girl Mina Carolina, with that Leon just zoned but then in the corner of his eye, he sees some movement. Out if curiosity he turns his head around and what he sees makes him go completely speechless,
'Am I seeing things this can't be for real right' he thought as a redheaded girl was standing there with a potato in her hand ready to eat it.
'No she would doesn't she know that Shadis is going to KILL her and she knew this right' but then she did it, she took a bit out of the potato. As the sound went through the whole formation he realized people had started to look at the girl one of them being Shadis himself completely confused on what she was doing.
"Hey… you there… what do you think you're doing?"
The girl just continues to eat the potato and started to glances right and left wondering who was the instructor is addressing, again this just made Leon's jaw drop to the floor.
'Was she stupide or something, or she has a death wish' Leon could only watch as the seen on folded in front of his face.
"YOU ARE OFFICALLY ON MY SHIT LIST WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU" Shadis only screamed at the girl as he looked at her, the girl fastly saluted and said.
"Sasha Blouse from Duaper in wall Rose's southern region".
"Sasha Blouse then what in god's name are you holding in your hand cadet Blouse?"
"A steaming potato sir I came across it in the kitchen so I picked it up!"
"So you stole it… but still… why here of all places eat it?"" he stated it more then asked.
"Sir are you asking why people eat potato's sir?" she asked and then everyone froze nobody said a word even some of the quiet kids just looked completely dumfounded at what Sasha just said, she just called there instructor a stupide. But what happened next just made things worse, the girl either being nice beyond belief, or trying to buy her way out of death reluctantly said, "Here, have half sir."
The instructor as everyone else still completely confused picked it up, "Half?" He said looking at her like no one had ever offered him food. The girl just smiled at him.
(Later that day)
"Hey look! Potato girl is still running!" Connie called.
"Wow… she's been at it for five hours now. Her reaction to being told to run until sundown was nothing compared to when she was being told was getting no food for the next three days" Eren said.
"From what I remember that's Dauper is just a small hunter village in the mountains" said Leon looking at the group of people in front of their barrack, Connie just nodded to him. After that Leon saw wegon leaving the camp full of people and already knew who they were.
'well it seems we have our first dropouts didn't think it would happen on the first day though' Leon thought he remembered that not all people can just stand up to the strass that this kids will be going through. Of course he wasn't the only one to see this, the other saw it to the first being Eren.
"What's that" Eren looked at the wagon leaving the camp.
"Dropouts" Mina said "they requested a transfer to the reclaimed lands."
"Wait but it's the first day" Armin said.
"That's how it is" Leon spoke up "if this people couldn't have handled the first day then it's better for them to make them self's useful in better areas where needed, as farmers for the reclaimed lands." Leon said as looking at the group.
"Can't believe anyone would want to be pulling out weeds and rocks for the rest of their life's" Eren said looking at the wagon.
"Well better that then being completely useless to Humanity in the army" Leon answered to Eren. The Eren looked at Leon with a bit of anger before saying.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Well would want to have people who would stand there groud against titans our people who would run at the first sign of danger. With them working on the reclaimed lands we have more food and could feed what's left of humanity."
'More like Eldia' Leon thought, as Eren didn't say anything before Connie asked a question to him.
"You know you're pretty strong being you could take that punch," Connie said as the other cadets started to look at him with curiosity. Well he could tell them the truth he was training with his granduncle before joining the military; he didn't have to tell about his powers to them.
"Well let's just say I had a lot of training before joining the military with my granduncle" that was more of the understatement as the two years of "training" was more Like hell on earth for him.
"Well then that's something, also didn't you say that your form Shiganshina." The three boys only nodded.
"I wasn't born their but I lived there for most of my life, before that day" Leon said as the group went quiet knowing what Leon meant, both Armin and Eren didn't say anything.
"So did you see it the, colossal Titan" asked Connie as everyone was looking at Leon.
"No I didn't" he lied. He knew if he told the truth he would be asked hundreds of question and he didn't want a part of that.
"What about you Eren and Armin did you see it" Connie now asked the two other boys.
"Yes we did" Eren answered the question, as Leon thought,
'Well Eren you're about to regret that.'
(Dinner)
As Leon walk through the crowd to find a places where he could set, he could only found one were Marco and Jean, the cadet who got headbutted where setting at. He walked up to their table a.
"Can I sit here?"
"Sure why not" Jean answered.
"Names Leon by the way" he said" both of the cadets nodded.
"So Leon what part of the military do you want to join you never said when being asked by Shadis" Jean asked.
"Well the same as you two the MPs" Leon answered, he would lie there was now point to it.
"So you want to go live in the inner distracts too" asked Jean.
"No" Leon said taking a drink from his cup.
"So why are you going into the MPs then?"
"Let's just say I have a mission" Leon said, of course he could say he was going against the government, and try and overthrow them, that would lead him to being at best arrested or worse dead.
"Well I hope you are successful on your mission then Leon" said Marco, as Marco said that the other Cadets were interrogating Eren with hundreds of questions about the titans and that day. He lied about not seeing the titans because of that; he didn't want to answer hundred questions. But it seemed that Eren didn't get it.
"Come on guys, that's enough of the questions, Okay I think Eren rather not relive everything he's been through." Marco step in and stopped the interrogating.
'Finally some fucking sensible words for ones.'
"Sorry Eren we didn't want to bother you" Connie said being ashamed that he and the other put Eren through all of this just to satisfy his own curiosity.
"We just wanted to…" Connie was about to say before being interrupted by Eren.
"Don't worry about it, it's Fine" Eren said as he took a piece of bread before talking again.
"These Titans are just some small frays" Eren said, this almost made Leon face palm on the table, at what Eren just said, it was probably the most stupidest think he ever heard before in his life. Most of the history of Eldia and Humanity was people hiding or running away from titans, only the 9 shifters could actually fight the titans equally and overpower them. When the walls were made by the 145th there wasn't any way of really fighting them. This changed 70 years before the fall when an inventory by the name of Angel Aaltonen would be the one to create the ODM and the first to kill a titan. But even with the ODM's the titans were still very dangerous both the abnormal, and shifters. Saying that titans are some small fry is stupide and bad, meaning this people will be going into not knowing how dangerous their jobs are?
'this guy is a threat to anyone around him with such thinking, his going to get a lot of people dead because of him' Leon though. He was about to say something before Jean was the first to say something.
"Is this guy just stupid or has he gone completely crazy" Jean said looking at Eren.
"Big chances, both" Leon answered, as jean started to ask Eren.
"Not that it's any of my business, but is it joining the scouts a death wish."
All of the attention was now on Jean who smiled at Eren. His interlocutor looked at him attentively.
"Well we see … well more like I will see. You seem very happy hiding behind the walls like a fucking coward."
"I think there is a difference between fighting for the freedom for humanity than being a completely crazy psychopath and running into a titan's mouth Eren" Leon said looking at Eren. At saying that Eren suddenly got up from where he was siting and moved to their table, Jean got up from his chair to confront Eren where's as Leon just sat there and continued to eat.
"THE ONLY WAY WE CAN WIN IS FIGHT, HOW DOWN YOU UNDERTAND THAT YOU FUCKING COWERD!" Yelled Eren at Jean who himself started to yell.
"HUH WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY YOU SUCIDE BASTERD" Jean yelled back at Eren. For Leon this was becoming annoying it was the first day and already there was fight about to happen, also he was about to get a headshake from there yelling and not wanting Shadis to kill them all for this commotion, he though to would be best to break it up.
"OI, both of you break it up now, it's the fucking first day" He got in between them and push them both back. Both of the boys were looking at him. But before Eren and Jean could say anything more the bell rang meant the end of diner, and so people started to go to their barracks.
"Sorry about that, didn't mean to criticize your Ideas, Lets make peace."
"Okay sure thing" said Eren as he left. After that most people started to leave as Leon started to walk to Marco and Jean.
"Well that went batter then what I expected, well in the end no fights brock out" Leon said to the two Marco nodded but Jean was not listening to him, as instead he was staring at a girl that Leon new to well, that being Mikasa Ackerman. Probably the only oriental on Paradise, being that she was also an Ackerman as she followed Eren.
"You have very beautiful hair" Jean blurted out before thinking, Leon could only cringe inwardly on what Jean just said. It sounded just weird to say to someone you don't even now.
"Thanks" she said before following Eren out. Jean just stood there were looking dumfounded, as Leon came up put she hand on his shoulder before shaking his head and saying.
"Jean you just fucked up big time" before leaving saying his goodbyes to Marco. He would say the Oriental didn't look good, no he won't, in fact he would probably say she was the most attractive out of all girls in the 104th in his opining with hers amazing looks. But coming up to somebody you don't know and saying they have beautiful hair and staring at that person is just weird at best, and creepy at worse.
"What do you mean" said Jean confused, but Leon was already out of the building going to his barracks. As he came in he looked around seeing that most have been asleep or about to so he went to his bunk, he would need the sleep for the upcoming aptitude test.
But before he could get to his bunk he bye accidently bump into a cadet.
"Sorry about that, didn't look where I was going" he said to the cadet who was tall blond kid right in front of him was a much tall kid.
"Don't worry about it, it happens, by the way names Reiner Braun, and this here is Bertolt Hover" the blond cadet said.
"Names Leon Olden, Nice to meet you" he said before shaking both of the cadets hands and going to his bunk he was going to have some sleep for tomorrow.
(Next Day)
"Listen up shits. Today you will be doing the aptitude test, in this test we will see if you can balance when on the ODM gear, if you pass you will be allowed to continue your serve's to the King in the military and if you fail, you will be heading to the farmers. You have two tries today and tomorrow" shadies said. For Leon this was nothing, he already trained with Tobias for two years, and least just say it was hell on earth. It seemed some cadets were nervous at the test and no wonder; this was there only chances to get into the military if they fail well then it's to the farms, some of the cadets looked confident they could do it.
"Cadet Olden" yelled shadies as he looking him.
"Yes sir" Leon answered.
"You will be the first to go on the test"
"Yes sir" replied Leon as he came in front of the group and got himself on the test. The test itself was easy being that he trained for this for the past 2 year's part of his training with his granduncle. He thought it would be bad if he showed off a bit, so he did and to say some people where incompletely shock at this of some annoyed, knowing he was showing off one of them being shadies himself.
"Well it seems like you won't be completely useless for humanity get him down Cadet" he said to Thomas. As Leon came to his spot in the group of cadets he realized as some were staring at him, some with amazement and other with Jealous.
'shit maybe it wasn't such a good idea to show-off now half the corps hates me" his though do get interrupted by Reiner
"You're pretty good with the ODM Leon the only other person that close is the Ackerman" Said Reiner, standing next to him. In truth it wasn't that heard almost all of the cadets should pass this test with no problems.
"Well the test is easy it's when we start learning how to use them against dummy titans or obstacles were the things start getting hard."
"So your saying that all of the cadets are going to pass" Reiner asked looking at Leon,
"Ye only people who are completely bad at balances or have something wrong with their gear."
As Leon said that a crash could be heard, when Leon looked at the places where the people were taking their test. And there was Eren who was flipped on his head. Leon was a bit confused on how Eren did that, as again he was maybe horrible with balances or his gear was broking.
"Well it seems Eren is it going to kill all of the titans" Reiner said looking at Eren.
"What's the fucking problem cadet Yeager?" Said shadie, as some of the Cadets started to laugh
"This is the fucking most easiest part of the whole of the course, if you can't do this how the fuck are you supposed to get through the rest of it" shadies now Yelling at Eren who himself is shocked at the revelation. As Leon kept looking at Eren, he believed something here was wrong, then he seen it.
'Wait his belt it's broken, now I know why his been flip upside down, it's because of his broken belt, I should tell the instructor but… let's see wants Eren is going to do about this' Leon thought.
(Later that day)
Leon was coming at the bathroom and going to his bank, getting ready for his sleep. But before he could reach his bed he was stopped by being called out,
"Hi Leon" said Reiner looking at him from his bunk were both Bertolt, Eren and Armin were siting. He went to them before answering the cadet.
"Yes Reiner is there something you want" he asked the cadet.
"Well you see Eren here is asking on how he can get the ODM gear to work for him, got his ideas"
"Well when I'm in my ODM I relax and clear my head, in other words like I'm flying" he said looking at Eren.
"Aye I already tried that and it didn't work out, everything I do I just fall I don't know wants wrong with me" Eren said looking upset. Leon new he could tell him about the gear but, then again Eren could learn from this so he had a different idea.
"Hi Reiner weren't you about to go out on a late night walk it's probably best for clearing out minds and could help you tomorrow" Leon said looking at the four cadets before going back to sleep for tomorrow.
(Next day)
It was the next day as everyone was waiting for when Eren would begin his test, for him staying in the corps or going to the fields. Leon was standing in front seeing want Eren would get, will he fall or stay up for some time.
"Cadet Yeager, are you ready!" Shadies yelled at Eren. The boy could only nod at that waiting for when they would start.
"Rising him up" as Eren was raised he was holding on as for the next 30 seconds he would stay up and not flip. To say Leon was shocked was an underestimate, the kid stayed balanced for 30 seconds on broken gear, not even he couldn't do that, probably.
'Well you sure are something Eren Yeager, not just anyone could do that I will give you that'
"Well it seems Eren will be going to the farmlands" said Reiner looking at Eren.
"He stayed up for 30 seconds on broken gear I will say his not that bad"
"Wait what!" Said Reiner looking surprised,
"Look at his belt" Leon said, before thinking it was time for him to say this to Shadies.
"SIR" Leon yelled, as this got the attention of all of the cadets and Shadies himself.
"What is it cadet Olden" said Shadies
"Sir Cadets Yeager's belt is broken"
"Is that so well then cadet Olden wouldn't it being so kind of you to hand over your belt so to see if this is true" said Shadies. Leon did what he was asked to do, and when up to Eren and given his belt. And as Leon said, Eren didn't flip on his head and stayed up right. After that Shadies looked at the cadet and said.
"Well it seems you have a good eye cadet, it seems the supply team did a bad job of giving out gear he looked at supply team before saying.
"Well with that over we can start or real training today" said Shadies, the next hours were nothing but strength and cardio training, to get them up to shape, mostly push ups and sit ups, and Planks were for the strength exercises, and a 3 km run. For most cadets this was hard being that, this was there first time doing huge amounts of exercises, the only people that did this with no problems, were him and four other cadets, dose being, Mikasa, Reiner, Bertolt, and Annie. He knew that Mikasa was going to get second right behind him, but the other cadets were pretty good, it was weird, it would seem like they already had training. But he didn't real care in the end, so he let it slid, after the training exercise section, they started to learn how to use there ODM gears more, and when that was finished they went back to the mass hall to get there dinner, before calling the night.
Dinner was mostly uneventful, as Jean and Eren again began, there yelling at their some shit he really didn't care about, he thought about breaking it up but, he was already tired of the whole thing so he left to his bunk to take his sleep. But before that he thought.
'This is going to be some interesting three years.'
N/A: Well that was chapter 4, sorry for it being late, I was just taking a break after school on weakens. But I will try to produce more soon, being I have more time to work on this story. Also some characters my live because of the OC in this story, just want to point that out. One more thing, this story now has three followers and Favorites, to dose people I say thank you, and I do how more people comment on this story I do want to know how batter I can make it.
