A quick little cojeel drabble I had to get out. Enjoy!

Cobra waited until he heard the soft clink of a glass of water being set down on the nightstand before he rolled over. "Not sleeping tonight?"

Gajeel managed to keep his eyes open long enough to look down at him. "Got up to get a drink and then started thinking," he rumbled tiredly.

"So I heard," Cobra yawned, his pointed right ear flicking twice.

"I was thinkin'," Gajeel went on, flopping back onto the bed next to Cobra, "That water don't really got a taste. And, unless you ate somethin' bad, your own mouth don't got a taste, neither. But you can taste someone else's mouth. And then I wondered what my mouth tastes like."

Cobra blinked. Sometimes his boyfriend's mind wandered when he was too tired and this was a prime example. Still... given the nature of his own magic, it was nice to be caught off guard once in a while and so Cobra would indulge him: "Kind of like a rare steak, I guess."

"A steak?"

"Yeah. Maybe not the steak part exactly, but there's definitely an iron taste."

Red eyes observed him quietly, before a strong arm squeezed him close. "Y'know, you could always do for havin' more iron in yer diet," Gajeel grinned.

Cobra rolled his eye. "What do I taste like, then?"

"Kinda sweet, but in the way fruits or vegetables or something can be kinda lightly sweet. Also kinda tingly and spicy," Gajeel compared the taste, giving a weary yawn of his own. "I think it's the same kinda sweet-spicy kick that a strawberry's got."

Cobra's brows knit, his sharp ears perking as he listened for what the hell a "spicy" strawberry was. "... I think you might be mildly allergic to strawberries."
