So try number two. I'm far from a decent writer(of the few people that might have read what I've written, may know that), I'll slow down the pacing this time and do a few other things due to some constructive criticism from someone helpful.
I'm looking at you, guest. Also, if you don't like the anime, why would you click on a fanfiction of it?
Chapter 1
Third P.O.V
Welcome to the Magic
Where to start?
The basics of this world should be sufficient.
Some of you may have heard of a condition called "Chuunibyou", more commonly known as 8th grader syndrome. It is highly likely that you, one of your friends have had it when you were younger, or even have it right now. Just sit back and think of a time you might have thought you were different from everyone else, in any way shape, or form.
Its Chuunibyou causes the person with it to think this way. It could be as small as thinking you were smarter or more mature than everyone else around you. Or be as extreme that you believe that you wield powers from another reality and magic is embedded in your way of life. That every day was filled with battles to the death with monsters from other worlds or even other people who have similar powers.
Now, how it comes to be within someone is also fairly simple. Chuunibyou happens around the time of puberty and when what you believed in while in your childhood, doesn't line up with what you see in reality. From dragons to warlocks, witches, mages, magic, fairies, and gods. Back when you were little, quite natural to expect them to just be there hiding, it wouldn't be the strangest thing they would do.
When that ends up just being words on paper, on a website, or in movies or videos, it has two main effects. Some just leave that fantasy world behind and build a new reality based on the so-called facts that we are given about the world.
Others, increase their belief in these things tenfold and envelope themselves into it. They become part of this "Fantasy". Now people usually snap out of this by the end of middle school or high school but are left with a dangerous amount of embarrassment. Some people will fall to the ground clutching their ears rolling on the floor to try and drown out the amount of cringe flowing into their ears. I think this response is justified in a sense, it is pretty bad.
That is what the world knows as Chuunibyou but is that the reality? Not exactly.
Our protagonist, Yuuta Togashi, was just "cured" of his Chuunibyou after finishing middle school. His extra persona was known as the Dark Flame Master. From about 4th grade to 8th grade, he was the talk of his school with his dark and overly edgy facade. He wasn't too happy when he 'came back to reality' and saw what everyone else saw. So when he had the chance to start over, he jumped at the chance. He wanted to have a normal life with regular friends. He wanted to turn the life of the Dark Flame Master to ashes(Don't mind the pun), but fate has...other plans.
I'll send you off to see life through his, surprisingly not normal, green eyes.
Yuuta P.O.V
.
As I was putting all the boxes of my past on the balcony of the apartment that I call home. I took one more good look at the tightly sealed boxes. They had things like diaries, models of weapons, "Magic" items, and other things that would be called toys.
These boxes full of *bad* memories will be sealed tight and disposed of. I could feel a shudder coming up just thinking about all the cringe seeping from the box.
I felt a nice late evening breeze hit my back. The summer was coming to an end, and the start of my life as a normal person can start as well.
That was my line of thought until a bit of a hardware store rope lowered softly from right above me.
What in the-
Stocking coved legs lowed down to my balcony, much to my shock, then the stranger's legs wailed out, most likely due to lack of balance, and kicked me square in the face.
"Ow!" After I winced in pain and then grabbed the person's leg on instinct.
After the legs landed gently on the railing, I finally got a good look at the stranger and locked eyes. It was a girl around my age, one of her eyes was a pricing blue while the other was coved by a medical eye patch. Her dark purplish-blue colored hair rested on the top of her face in the form of bangs. With her standing there in a nice frilly black dress, and young she looked, Yuuta had one train of thought.
Damn, she's kinda cute.
"Did you see?" She asked with her tone shrill and sharp, reminiscent of a fine blade.
"Huh?" my eyes trailed to her skirt before I finally realized what she meant. "Ah! No, I didn't see anything!"
"Do you want to see?" Her voice was much softer this time. She was looking at me oddly as if she was trying to look into the pits of my soul.
"Huh?"
"Hey, Big brother!" My little sister, Kuzeha had called out from the apartment, "What are you doing back there?"
"Kuzeha? What-" I had turned around for one moment to see who it was and when I turned my head back, the girl was gone. Like she was never there. Now that I think about it, what girl would be doing that kind of thing at this time? Must have been my imagination acting up. Maybe a side effect of trying to be normal for once.
"Wow, that's a lot of stuff you got there big bro" Kuzeha walked closer to look at my old stuff. She giggled as she picked up a familiar sword that was too big for any of the boxes. "Isn't this that sword you spent a whole weekend doing poses with and pretending you were fighting-"
"Hey, don't touch the Termination Breaker Sword-" I stopped talking and slapped myself, "I mean...that"
She giggled some more at the sight of my new flustered face.
"So what are you doing with all of this 'Dark Flame Master'?" She asked me mockingly
"Don't call me that! And for your information, I'm putting the past behind me." Yuuta said, "First chance I get, I'm sending all this to the dump and erasing my old self forever"
"Whatever you say, it doesn't seem like your getting rid of that melodrama any time soon"
"Hey!"
.
The next day, I was at the train station, when I ran into someone. Literally.
The sound of several items dropping to the floor could be heard but when I looked up, nothing was on the floor. I looked at who I had run into and was greeted by a very pretty orange/brown-haired girl that was wearing the female version of my uniform.
"Oh my gosh, I'm sorry, are you ok? I've been so distracted, I should have been paying more attention" I quickly apologized. I started to look around to make sure nothing was on the floor.
"Oh no, don't worry about it!" She smiled awkwardly at me. "I really should have been looking where I was going. First day jitters, am I right?"
We shared a short laugh as we quickly dusted ourselves off and continued on our own separate ways.
This can't be happening. A cute girl, with a good sense of humor and personality? That goes to my school? Is this some kind of reward for trying to be normal? Thank you, whoever is up there, I won't mess this up.
Then, I saw her. The girl that was on my balcony last night. Same everything besides the same uniform as the other girl. She reached out her hand as the door of the train that had pulled up opened. She giggled to herself before walking in.
This can't be a coincidence...was she really at my apartment last night?-
I was yanked out of my thoughts as I thought heard someone call my name. I rushed towards the train doors as they started to close.
Out of the blue, a hand grabbed the door, bent the door, and slowly pulled it open further. The hand was seemingly coated in metal but then the metal covering seemed to flicker out of existence.
"Are you just going to stand there or are you going to board the train?" A new voice asked me. I turned to see who spoke and saw it was a guy in the same school uniform as me. His dark hair was wild and was long enough to cover a good portion of his face if he tried. I could see his dark, nearly black eyes peering into my soul.
"Well?" He asked again, this time sounding impatient.
"Oh-yeah thank you" I quickly said as I stepped aboard. I looked again and his hand wasn't covered in any metal, I felt like I saw a green flash, and the door wasn't bent. Maybe I'm just imagining things. That was the only explanation...right?
I made it to school in good time but had taken the boy who held the door open for me to the nurse. He had requested help.
"Oh, are you hurt?" I asked him when he brought it up
"I caught that door for you...my hand needs a bandaid... or something," He said as if it was the most normal thing to say although it didn't sound natural and it sounded like a load of BS.
"That's not possible..." I started to say but faltered when I saw the look he was giving me
"You have no idea what is possible and what isn't," He said softly.
After that, no more talking between us.
I stuck my head into my new classroom and saw no one that I recognized. I picked out a seat near the middle and noticed a familiar head of orange/brown hair.
It must be fate! My life is coming together. Soon I'll have a friend group of at least 5 friends and get myself a girlfriend. Maybe a high school romance!
I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned to look and saw a dark-haired tan boy behind me.
"Hey, got any extra lead?" He asked, "I forgot to bring extra"
"Oh sure," I said as I handed him a small case of lead.
I felt someone's eyes on me and saw the boy from the train. He was looking at me, almost amused like he was watching a little kid talk about how they had their life planned out. It almost felt like he was reading my mind...
My attention was snapped back to the guy next to me as he said "Thanks. Say, what junior high did you go to?"
"Hishiyama junior high, you?"
"Tenshigorubu. Isn't that place really far from here?" He asked as he leaned in
"It is. I transferred here to...get a change in scenery." I replied with a chuckle, "That's why no one from my old school is here"
I heard a snort from across the room.
"You too huh?" The boy said "Then I'm glad I met you since I don't know anyone either. I'm lady killer Makoto Isshiki; nice to meet you!"
"I'm Yuuta Togashi" Yuuta replied with a smile. He had a normal friend. My first normal friend.
Goal #1 Progress 1/5
I turned at the sound of someone falling out of their chair. It was the dark-haired kid.
"Don't mind me, I just...heard something funny" He said with a small pause as if to think about what to say. No one besides me seemed to notice him or the somewhat saddened look that flashed across his face when no one noticed him. With a small grunt of frustration, he shoved a few loose strands of hair out of his face with his now bandaged right hand and loudly plopped back on his chair. For some odd reason, no one reacted as if he didn't do anything.
"So, Yuuta, what do you think about the girls here?" Isshiki asked as he leaned in a bit closer.
"Eh? Girls?" I said
"Yeah, quite a selection of hotties if I do say so myself," He eyed various girls in the class as he said this. I, for one, couldn't keep my gaze from landing on the orange-haired girl from before.
"Yeah, I guess you could say that," I said with a dreamy sigh.
Isshiki followed where my eyes went and said "Oh you like Nibutani? She's pretty popular with everyone, romanticly and platonically and on top of that she's the class representative. She's not really my type but I can see why you might be having trouble keeping your eyes off her. If you want to shoot your shot, you'll have to beat a lot of competition"
"Is that so?" I smiled and just enjoyed the moment. This is it, a normal high school life. Regular high school antics, no more extra weirdness or Chuunibyou. I'm all in now for normal!
Yeah, that's not happening. Sorry, buddy but you just caused like 50 major flags with that line.
Wait, who is that?
"It's you, arent it?" A very familiar voice said from behind me. "I was hesitant at first, but it seems there's no doubt that you are the person I've been looking for"
I slowly turned and found the eye patch girl.
"Do you know her?" Isshiki asked
"What? No, I've never seen her before in my life!" I quickly exclaimed
"That's a lie, but never mind that" The girl closed the distance to my desk. "It's of most importance that-HNNNNG"
She doubled over grabbing at her eye as if it was in pain.
I heard the guy from the train jolt out of his chair and hurry out of the room.
"I-inconceivable! I knew I was getting an abnormal reading from you before, but this is unlike anything else! How many mouths...no...years ago was this meeting been set in stone by the hands of fate!"
"No way, she's confessing to you! Ack, so jealous!" Isshiki said as he grasped the air in frustration but still smiled at Yuuta full of pride for his new friend. I was catching on though.
No...please...don't tell me that this is...I thought I was done with...
"The resonating of my eye is stronger than anything else I've ever experienced...this must be..." The girl was straining to stay on her feet.
...Chuunibyou
"My eye! My eye!" She exclaimed right before she collapsed in front of me. I stood up as she looked up at me from a squatting position. "My eye..." She let out a small whimper, still clutching her eye.
After that, I was tasked with taking her to the nurse, and just like my luck, the nurse wasn't anywhere to be seen.
.
In the infirmary
.
I quickly dug through the cabinets until I found eye drops. Makes sense right? Her eye made her fall to the ground and whimper so she should use these to help. Assuming her chuunibyou will let her put them in without a fuss.
I handed her the bottle of clear liquid. "Here you should be fine with some eye drops. We should hurry, we wouldn't want to miss the entrance ceremony"
She kept her eyes on me as she stared at me like she was trying to figure something out about a new item she had stumbled upon and wanted to learn about it.
When would be a better time to ask a thing or two?
"Were you on my balcony last night?" I asked, and she simply nodded. "What in the world were you doing?"
She made a quick sideways glance before returning her gaze to me and pointing to her eye patch.
"My cured eye resonated when we had first encountered each other and once again when we met earlier today. Factoring in your abnormal Magic reading, this is far from a coincidence. You and I must have known one another in a previous life. I feel as though you are a keystone in our future events blessing us with good fortune. This is why I sought you out."
She is a bigger chuunibyou case than I was...This might be harder than I thought.
"Well...that was...complete nonsense," I said, trying to decipher what I just heard. "Let's get to the root of things. What's your name?"
"The universal entities recognize me as the 95th holder of the Eye that once belonged to the Wicked Lord Shingan and the only self-aware Nemah in existence. But if you are asking for the name I was assigned at birth, is Rikka Takanashi"
Rikka gave a bow with the perfect amount of dramatic flair before she let a small eye drop out onto her finger. And once she touched it to her mouth and unsurprisingly wincing at the taste, she said. "This flavor...this must be holy water. I assumed it would be more difficult to find in modern-day but it appears to have shifted forms. For our protection, it shall be sealed" She closed the cap tight as she could.
"Oh good god." I sighed heavily. "Let's just head back to class... I don't even what to know what you meant by magic reading."
"Magic reading is your potential for magic" Rikka answered the one question I didn't ask. "Simply a measure of your magic possibilities. Could also be referred to you MP/AP. This brings me to my first question. Who are you really Dark Flame Master?"
I froze in place as I was walking to the door. While grinding my teeth together, I managed to force out a question. "What...did...you...say?"
"Dark Flame Master?" Rikka repeated, once again giving me a neutral face. "Are you surprised? One of the abilities of my wicked eye is to know the True Name of anyone I see, among other things. What I find confusing, however, is that your race is stated to be human but your Magic reading clearly states that of 5 times of an average human."
"Forget that!" I said as I frantically closed any distance that could have been between us in a matter of seconds. "Where did you hear that name?"
"Hmm? You don't believe me?" She seemed surprised as if any word that had come out of her mouth since I met her hand made any sense.
"Of course not! Someone told you, is that it? Or maybe you've seen me before? Answer me!"
Rikka let out a nonchalant sigh. "A typical human reaction...and quite frankly you seem embarrassed about-" Her visible eye widened. "That's it! How couldn't have I figured it out sooner?"
"I said, ANSWER ME!" Throwing all expectations of a gentleman out the window, I forcibly covered her eye with one hand and used my other to pull her head back.
"AH! STOP! I can't see!" She cried out. "I heard you and your sister talking last night!"
"Eh?" I asked as my eyes widened
Her now, semi annoying voice flashed into my mind.
'So what are you doing with all of this 'Dark Flame Master'?'
Damn it...KUZEHA!
I dropped the poor girl, who first brushed her hair out of her face.
"Listen up! You can't ever tell a soul about that, got it?" I said sternly, pointing a finger for extra emphasis.
Rikka shook herself off and adjusted her collar. She just returned it to its messy state before I made it...worse? Better? I'll settle with different.
"I see. I should've foreseen this, but it seems you've been chuunirized" She slapped her fist down into her now open palm with resolve burning in her eye.
"Chuunirized? Wait, forget that I ever had any of my cringy elementary-school delusions!" I exclaimed. "All of that crap about being the Dark Flame Master and the warlock of the Black Flame Dragon stuff. If anyone finds out about that-" I storm of dread fell over me. "-then I might as well kiss any chance of being treated like a normal human goodbye"
Rikka gave me a puzzled look before she spoke again. "Why on earth would you want to be a normal human?"
"Because I am A human, and you are too, so start acting like it!" I crossed my arms once again fixing a stern look on her. "I am done with that junk about being some kind of magic user! I am, absolutely, 100%, with no reservations, done!"
"What if I could prove you wrong? Would you listen to me then?" She asked.
Letting out a sigh I asked "What? Are you going to show me a magic trick or something or-"
"Archane Distortion!" She posed suddenly while her arm was shot out towards my person, Shone style.
"Are you even listening to me?" I asked
"You couldn't sense my Arcane Distortion? Or course, A Nemah as great as yourself could require a stronger seal than normal...wait. I'm getting something... A very powerful reading coming from your right arm! It's steadily rising beyond even demons' power! No way...it cant be."
"Oh save the melodrama, I already know how you-HNNNG!" I let out a short gasp as a strong ache shot through my arm until it eventually began to fade.
You've got to be kidding me. Of all days to get arm cramps it's today and right now? My day couldn't get any worse.
"As I feared, the Dark Organization has created a seal of altered past events that suit their purpose then put it over your memories to hide the truth. My Arcane Distortion was enough to wake the Dark Flame Dragon's hibernation, which easily has enough strength to break the seal...but if it breaks the seal before you do-" Her eyes widened with horror. "-you will be incinerated right where you stand! I must de-chuunrize you before that happens!"
"Oh quite it," I said sighing for the umpteenth time talking with this girl. "It was just a coincidence, you didn't make my arm cramp. Besides, most people get over their Chuunibyou nonsense once they graduate middle school. Shouldn't you have figured out that you are just as normal and human as everyone else and that your wicked eye isn't real?"
At first, Rikka said nothing, and then she burst out into a smile. "Then perhaps, you would like to have a look at it."
"Excuse me?"
"My cursed eye." Rikka stood up. "But I'm warning you. Once your seal has been pierced by what you will see, there is no going back."
Why does that sound familiar?
I wordlessly stepped forward, expecting a normal eye, like her pretty ocean color or possibly a contact. What I was greeted by under her eye patch was a pure abyss.
While her uncovered eye, as I said was a pretty-looking ocean blue, the covered one was seemingly golden. This eye shimmered in the light as small fragments danced around like someone had poured glitter into some water. The most captivating thing about it was the fact it glowed. A nearly blinding light shot out of her eye. Adjectives like beautiful, terrifying, crazy, genius and much more zoomed past inside my brain as I stared back into it. Millions of yellow-tinted images flashed before my eyes, but all of it was somehow contained within this single eye.
Naturally, the human brain can only take so much at a time. I eventually couldn't take it anymore and forced my head away, feeling a small pain behind my eyes and a slight headache setting in. And, Rikka, completely unfazed simply covered her eye once again.
"Oh my, is it that time already?" Her eye widened. "Darn...Alright, find me after school. Until then, you must not let the dragon overpower you, no matter what, or our world as we know is doomed"
With that, she left the room.
What the heck just happened? Lets recap. I just met a girl with a god-level Chuunibybou who also just so happens to have a small golden galaxy in her eye.
No, No, wait, that isn't logical! It must have been an eye contact! She must have been wearing one of those eye contacts that you can get with designs on them, like how cosplayers do it! Nothing magic here. Just a weirdo that seems to be interested in me. End of story
It was far from the end of the story. Before I left the room, I for some reason, thought about one extra thing. She didn't even need the eye drops.
I made it on time for the entrance ceremony and listen to Nibutani's speech. Just as she was finishing, another shot of pain in my arm. Damn it, another cramp! I managed to keep myself from making any nose.
I felt another one later during homeroom and another one during each period. It was starting to get more painful. Now I was fine with dealing with it until he got home, it wasn't ok when I wanted to try to get to know Nibutani better because I stupidly chose to test my luck after managing to interact with two people today.
After lunch, I walked over to her desk after I finished lunch.
"Hey, Nibutani-ARGH!" I grasped at my arm as she looked at me. Well, I had her undivided attention now. And for some reason, I don't feel like its good.
"Huh? Is something the matter?" She asked as she gave me a quick glance.
"Uh, it's just... I mean, I have... there's uh... you look... I have to go, bye!"
You win this round dragon.
Black Flame dragon VS Yuuta, 1-0
After class, Isshiki opened another conversation with Yuuta.
"Hey, dude, some of the other students and I are gonna grab a bite to eat after school. Do you want to come?"
"Huh? Are you inviting me?" I asked, eyes going wide. (For like the millionth time today someone's eyes go wide.)
"Sure! You in?"
"Are you kidding me? Of course, I'm- KYAAAAAAYK!" I winced and began to massage my forearm.
"Err...You good?" He asked throwing a glance at my arm.
"Yeah, it's just...this has been happening all day for some reason."
"Weird. Your arms look kinda red now that I'm looking" He reached forward to touch my arm before jumping back with visible pain on his face. "Och! Man, that's burning hot man!"
"Hot? Why would that be hot?" I asked raising an eyebrow.
"I don't know, but you should probably put some ice on that when you get home. And maybe see a doctor"
"Yeah, good point," I said letting out a disappointed sigh. "Sorry, I won't be able to make it."
"It's no biggy man. There's always next time, right? See you tomorrow?"
"Your right."
Black Flame dragon VS Yuuta, 2-0
Once school was *finally* over, I shoved my arm into my pocket as I walked to the train station. To my surprise, Rikka was sitting on a bench close to the entrance.
"You have arrived" She stated.
"Only because this is the train station," I said as I rolled my eyes. "Wait, how did you know I wasn't going to find you after school, as you said to?"
"I used my Eye of the Wicked Lord to see into the clear future, wherein I would meet you here instead of outside the school. It is my most powerful ability, I can know what is about to happen with 100% accuracy."
"Oh really?" I asked with a raised eyebrow. "Fine tell me what I'm about to say next."
She closed her eyes, seemingly concentrating before speaking. "You will exclaim something makes no sense then realize the opposite is true."
"That's just nonsense..." I paused a little. "Ok you had me for a second, but I still don't believe you. It's just not possible you can tell the future."
"Okay, fine." She said. "Your arm will hurt again during the second time from now when you speak."
"So by that logic, you could win the lottery every time by looking for the correct number," I said. "Or you could always win rock paper scissors."
"When that is true, I try not to use this ability to see the distant future," She explained. "For if I ever predicted an event I did not wish to happen...then there is nothing I can do to stop it. My fate would have been sealed as soon as I saw it through my cursed eye."
"Yeah, ok that makes sense but- WHAGRA!" I exclaimed as I grabbed at my arm. It was much stronger this time. It felt warmer too.
"The Black Flame Dragon grows stronger..." Rikka said as she tapped her chin. "And you haven't de-chuunirzed at all. This isn't good at all."
"Again, with that crap? Cant, you talk like a normal human for three seconds-"
Rikka pulled out a long length of cloth bandage. "Thankfully, I have repaired for this exact situation, and obtained this from the infirmary."
Before I could protest, she wrapped it around my arm, just like my old persona.
"There we go. That would keep the dragon in check for now, until you can tap into your full power as the Dark Flame Master."
"Oh cut it out with..." I stopped and realized that my arm stopped pulsing. "Hey, it stopped hurting! Thanks a lot, Rikka. Wait, what are you doing?"
Rikka, who had stopped concentrating again. "I was checking the direction of your intentions. It seems that you are my new downstairs neighbor."
"Yeah right, you found that out last night," I said before realizing something. "Wait, when did you move in? I thought an office lady was working upstairs."
"I moved in the day before yesterday. Touka Takanashi is my older sister"
"Oh, so it's that type of situation," I nodded. "That's actually the most normal thing you've-"
"That situation, of course, is a ploy. Touka is the high priestess of the Invisible Boundary Line administration, as well as an associate of the Chuuniriaztion Project. Her power is so great, that not even I, an exceptional warrior among the unstoppable Nemah, can defeat her" Her eyes fell downwards. "That is why I sought you out, Dark Flame Master."
I just had to open my big mouth.
"Don't call me that."
"With our powers combined, we can defeat Touka and find the Invisible Boundary Line, obtain the Golden fish Fin AKA the Red Dragon Scale, and de-chuunirize the entire world! But yes, for now, we attempt to pass as a pair of human siblings."
I heard a familiar snort and quickly turned my head around several times before finding no one. I could have sworn that was the snort of the guy from the train. Speaking of him, after he vanished from class, I don't think I saw him again.
Changing my focus back to the small girl in front of me, I managed to pass it off as me trying to figure out whatever just came out of her mouth.
We both walked over to a vending machine and I asked her. "Want a drink?"
"Hold on a second..." She raised her arm and concentrated once more. "Rikka Takanashi, Wicked Eye holder 95 requesting access to Arcane Burea Service 16 1 Mana Potion. Entering passcode, up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, insert coin..." She snatched the coin out of my hand before placing it into the slot for it. "B, A!"
As Rikka received her drink, I glance behind me to see the train leaving behind them.
"Mana potions are critical for the daily routine of any spellcaster, even if you only cast one or two spells being caught without any mana could spell doom for even the strongest NemaaaaaaaaaHK!" Rikka yelped as I once again, throw my normal nice-ness out the window and I grabbed her from behind and gave her a double noogie.
"You nearly made me miss the train earlier and this time we missed it!" I exclaimed. To both of our surprise, the screen of the machine lit up with an anime girl.
"Congratulations! You received a free drink!"
Rikka quickly took a confident pose. "This is the power of the Eye of the Wicked Lord!"
"Nice try. you were just as surprised as I was" I deadpanned
"That's not how it works!"
Suddenly the sound of stretching tracks grated my eardrums. Once again, the train was back and a metal-covered hand was bending the door open. The same black eye bore holes into my head.
The guy gave me a lopsided smirk, one that is normally given to troublemakers. "Yo, hoping on?"
Rikka strangely ignored the fact his hand was seemingly metal and bending a train door.
He gave me a sly look. "Everyone normally only sees what I want them to."
Once I blink, Rikka was staring at me impatiently and the guy was just...gone.
So once we showed up at our apartment, all of Rikka's things were in my place.
And then after a close call with my sister ripping off my bandage, thinking I was relapsing. (I'm NOT by the way) When she took it off, I felt like my arm was getting ripped apart from the inside out, pulsating with something that felt very different than blood.
After that, we spent the next couple of hours taking all of her boxes up to her apartment. It would have been painful to watch her do it by herself and it distracted me from the slight twinge coming from my arm. It was even doing it with a new bandage.
I had a slight suspicion that maybe there was something there in her crazed ramblings. But there is no way, that there is a dragon in my arm. Besides brainwashing is such a basic tool for authors to use. The easiest, no deep, sensual, explanation needed. Alas, it was all irrelevant. My chuuni phase is long dead and will stay that way.
After the box moving was done, Rikka ended up joining my family for dinner.
Classic mom sending hints about a future(with a certain female), curious sister(also about said female), and youngest sister playing with things she shouldn't. Such as a large sword that is meant to go into the trash.
My youngest sister, Yumeha, ended up pulling out the Termination Breaker Sword from outside and hitting me with it. Hard.
After some pushing and prodding, I managed to not get my sister taken over by Chuunibyou. Rikka was going on and on about how she could turn Yumeha into an excellent mage because of her magic reading, I managed to carefully avoid that, by changing the subject every time Rikka mentioned it.
That night, I headed out to my balcony, ready to ditch all of the boxes at long last. I had packed everything up, ready to be sealed and thrown away. I muttered to myself about how it was all trash and junk, maybe getting rid of it would stop the pain in my arm.
"Junk?"
I turned and saw Rikka had trailed behind me. She seemed almost hurt by my words, her one blue eye looking at the ground.
"You really think all of this is trash?" She asked as she reached into a random box and pulled out a toy pistol.
"Of course, nothing but a bunch of painful memories and worthless junk" I stated.
"...This was the weapon you used to finish off the Witch of the Highlands," she said before reaching for another item. "and this is the jar which once contained an evil genie. The blade that was used in the blood contract to summon Bahamut, whose sprite now rests inside this jacket"
"And the amulet that can grant a person a single cursed wish..." I said as I glanced at the jewel in her hand. "...I won't deny that I'll miss them a bit, but it's just not healthy for me"
"It is. Just like how important it is for you to be de-chuunirized."
"Rikka, it's not real, okay? None of it is. Even if my arm does hurt, that doesn't mean that there's a dragon inside. Just a stupid kids game..."
"Yuuta..." Rikka took a few steps forward until she was right behind me. She was really begging me now. "Please...just give it one chance and I'll change your mind. I promise"
I still had my back to her, a roll of duct tape in my hand. I let out an annoyed sigh as I stopped, against my will. Why is her voice so freaking cute right now? This that the power of gap-moe?
She is going to be the death of me huh? Screw it, if she's going to kill me might as well go out with a bang. She went through all this effort, the least I can do is humor her.
"Fine" I swiftly turned on my heel and struck my favorite pose. "Be developed in the flames of darkness and disappear!"
Rikka yelped and jumped back, and for a moment I thought she was messing around until I noticed my hand.
I surge of heat exploded out from the edge of my elbow and blasted out my palm. I'm not joking with you. I could see it. I could feel it. A blazing inferno of dark purple flames burst onward in an almighty plume of raging heat, blinding light, and lots of force. Rikka whipped out her umbrella(one she had named Schwarzsech Prototype MK II and claimed housed a demon).
"Schwarz shield!" throwing open the shade to guard against the flames. Instantly a scarlet magical circle appeared across the surface, deflecting the flames to all sides. Once the spots cleared from my eyes, I saw Rikka lifting the umbrella, revealing a big smile.
"I'm sure you're confused, Yuuta. Well, fear not, I'm here to teach you how to regain your former power."
"WHAT THE FU-"

Below them, hearing Yuuta freak out, was the same young man that saw them earlier.
He tilted his head back over the railing of his balcony, staring at the sky. A small grin crossed his face. "Well, things are getting interesting."
He lifted a hand "Infinity's Passing" and a swirl of green energy appeared in his palm, closing his hand around an open can of soda. After he took a sip he laughed loudly, although once again, no one noticed. "Well Dark Flame Master, I cant wait to see if you can bypass my curse any more than you already have. Can't wait to get to know you a bit better buddy, cause we are in for one hell of a ride."
He finished the soda and muttered two words. "Oblivion's introduction", with that a swirl of dark energy formed in his palm and 'ate' the can. "Most spells I've done in a day in years. You two might be more trouble than your worth" He then vanished into thin again.
I've wanted to take this story, add magic, and my own little flare because, why not? I'll see how this goes. Hopefully well. I haven't seen too many stories where magic is involved, that is also finished.
Anyone that made it this far, I'd just like to say sorry to anyone that read the first do the chapter. I felt lazy and that is not a reasonable excuse to make a few people read absolute shit. I hereby swear to not do it on purpose. I'm young alright? I'm probably going to do t again. Probably soon too, so if you read anything I write, assume I got lazy somewhere in the process.
