Chapter SIX - Guess what? ITS OVER
Amanda pulled up to Liberty Larry's junkyard and turned off the engine. She got out and walked up to the trailer Larry used as his office. She knocked on the door and it swung open. Larry was standing there in his usual cheap suit. He had a smile on his face as he said " Mrs. Stetson…nice to see you again. It's been a while."
Amanda smiled at him and said "Hello Larry. I was told to stop by here. Do you have something for me?"
Larry escorted her through the parking lot and over to the machine that crushes the cars. Amanda shuddered a bit remembering when she and Angelo Spinelli were trapped in a car that was about to be squashed. Amanda looked over by the controls and there was another bouquet of roses, another small box and a letter. She picked up the box, letter and remembered to grab one of the roses. She wanted to have one from each place to remember this day. She thanked Larry and went back to her car. She got in and settled and took a deep breath. With each letter Amanda was getting more excited and falling more in love with her husband. For Lee to arrange something like this was just one of the most romantic things anyone had ever done for her. She opened the letter and began to read.
My Amanda,
Remember this place? This case was hard for me. I never let anyone really into my personal life. Except you. It was so easy to talk to you and I realized then that you were a true friend and cared about me. I let you in and I am so glad that I did. I think that I was in love with the idea of being in love with Eva. She never really loved either Angelo or me. And you saw through her. Your incredible instincts saw who and what she was. I am beyond grateful for your advice then and I still look to you for your input in our decisions. Having a mystery marriage seemed like a good idea, but Sweetheart, it wasn't. We need to have our family with us. We need to celebrate our love and share it with those that love us. You have shown me that. Again thank you for always being honest with me. I love you.
Now your next two stops are right near one another. The clues for the first one have something to do with a winning coffee can and the Sound of Music ( which I know you have seen more than seven times since you make me watch it with you every chance you get). The second place's only clue is the Mongoose.
Have fun my love and I will see you soon! I love you.
Lee
Amanda smiled as she laid the letter on the seat next to her. She picked up the little box and opened it. Inside was a little car charm. She giggled as she clipped it to the bracelet. Just then she saw Larry running up to her car carrying the small bouquet of roses. She rolled down the window and she heard Larry say "Mrs. Stetson! You forgot these! I hope you have a wonderful day!"
She thanked him and told him to keep them. She showed him the one rose she grabbed and started the car. She thought a minute and then realized where she needed to go and they were right near one another just like Lee said. She waved goodbye to Liberty Larry as she made her way towards Embassy Row.
***** Francine Desmond stood by her car outside the venue where Lee told her to meet him. Wow. She thought to herself. Where did Lee ever find this place? This is gorgeous! She chuckled to herself as she thought that Lee Stetson and Amanda King were really married. They had gotten married in secret. She hated the fact that they felt they needed to keep it that way. Lee suddenly came out the front doors and waved his arms.
"Francine, where have you been? Did you drop off the stuff at my apartment? Is everything going according to plan?"
Francine rolled her eyes at Lee and said "Geesh, Lee, you are sounding like a nervous groom. Seriously. We take down terrorists and criminals …the way you talk we cant even make a few simple milk runs!" She opened her trunk and took out her garment bag and make up case. She shut the trunk lid and continued "Yes, Scarecrow, everything is going according to plan and Amanda is heading towards the German Embassy. So stop worrying. Now, have the flowers arrived? Where is Amanda's mother?"
Lee showed Francine where to put her stuff. He left her to continue decorating things along with Dotty. Lee realized Francine was right. He was acting like a nervous groom. He needed to see Amanda but he didn't want her to see him…not just yet. He had an idea and told Dotty and Francine he would be back soon. They dismissed him as the flowers and caterer pulled up. He laughed as he got in the Vette. His thought as he drove away was that Dotty and Francine could rule the world.
