Chapter SEVEN - It was personal and when two people care about one another
Amanda pulled in front of the German Embassy and she hoped that this was what Lee meant in his clue. She couldn't very well get on a plane to Germany! She felt funny walking into the embassy in her nightgown and coat but she didn't think to bring a change of clothing. She walked into the Embassy and went to the front desk. The young blonde woman looked at her and smiled.
"You must be Mrs. Stetson! I am so glad Lee finally married! You are as beautiful as he said you were! I am Elsa" She spoke in a thick German accent. She whispered and put her finger up to her mouth " I am part of Lee's family. We are all thrilled for the two of you!"
Amanda thanked her and Elsa handed her another small bouquet of roses, a box and another letter. Amanda said goodbye to Elsa and the young woman gave her a big hug. Amanda went to the car and opened the little box first. Inside were two tiny charms, a German flag and a beer stein. She put them on the bracelet and then opened the letter.

I like to think the year we went overseas was some of our best memories. We both were relaxed in our new found friendship and became closer. I cherish those memories and glad I was able to share them with you. While hanging out at Embassy parties was fun…getting all dressed up and showing off my beautiful partner…not one of those parties holds up to a night at your home with Dotty and the boys. You have given me a family, Amanda. Something I never thought I would have. Thank you. Maybe someday we can talk about possibly having one of our own? I know that's a big loaded question, but even in our line of work….we can at least try? Right?
Well, after you read this you need to head over to catch up with the Mongoose….or maybe someone else from our past! Have a wonderful time. I miss you but hope this has been fun. We have so much more to do today!

Amanda smiled at the letter and held it to her heart. Tears started falling from her eyes and she quickly brushed them aside. A baby? Lee wants to try and have a baby with me! I can't believe it! We never even talked about it. Well, he's made a day of surprises for me….I think tonight when I see him I can finally tell him my secret. She reached down and patted her stomach. "It's gonna be okay, little one. Off to the next stop!"
***** Amanda next pulled into the British Embassy and walked into the lobby. She looked around for someone at the desk but overheard someone calling her name. She turned around and saw Emily Farnsworth walking towards her! Amanda's mouth dropped open and she ran to hug the older woman.
"OH Mrs. Farnsworth! It's wonderful to see you! What are you doing here?"
Emily hugged her tightly and said "Now Amanda, you know we are family! Please …it's Emily! I have a special delivery for you from you darling husband." She shook her finger at Amanda `` You know, I am still sore that the two of you never told me about you getting married!" Amanda's face turned red and she looked down at her feet. "I am sorry Emily. I know we should have. But I think Lee is trying to make it right. We haven't set a date yet but he did propose again in front of my family so…it's a start. We can now have a wedding where everyone can come." Emily hugged Amanda again "Oh darling! I was angry for about 3 seconds and then I was overjoyed! My sweet Lee is married to the love of his life. I told you one day this would happen. I predicted it in that picture I drew of the two of you." Amanda blushed a bit and said "Honestly, Emily, I never thought it was going to happen. When it did and we finally expressed our feelings for one another it was like we just knew it had always been that way. We just didn't realize it…even then."
Emily grinned at the younger woman. "Well, let's have a bit of an early lunch….or is it still brunch…. Oh don't worry…it's all part of the festivities. You look like you need something to eat! Come with me."
Emily showed Amanda into a little room off the side of the lobby and it was all set with a table for two and all kinds of pastries and dishes for the two of them. Amanda sat down as Emily poured them some tea.
" I know that this isn't a full British tea but I think it will do just nicely! Now, I want you to tell me everything I have missed since I saw you last! Lots have happened and I want to hear all about it!"
For the next hour Amanda told Emily all about what happened between her and Lee. Emily just sat back and enjoyed ramble after ramble. She knew that Lee and Amanda were soul mates and were destined to be together. After Amanda finished her stories, Emily stood up and handed Amanda another familiar small box and a letter.
"Now, my darling. I think you have some more adventures to go on so I will say goodbye for now. I think I will see you sooner than you think! Have a wonderful rest of your day!" Emily hugged Amanda goodbye and walked out of the room. Amanda opened the little box and saw two charms. One was of course a little British flag and the other was a little teacup. Amanda smiled as she thought of the tea room Lee had taken her to after they finished the Mongoose case. He was so excited to take her there and they had a wonderful time. She sighed and opened the letter and began reading.
My dearest Amanda -
I hope you have had a wonderful morning looking back at all of the adventures we have had. Honestly I think that I enjoyed them more than I let on. Have I told you lately that you are an incredible agent? I don't think I have. But you are Amanda. Remember what I told Harry. I would follow you blind in a snowstorm. That will always be true.
Remember there was a time that I didn't think you were cut out for this job. In reality I think it was me fighting my feelings for you. I think that I was afraid…I had never had a real relationship and I wasn't sure what to do. Thank you for sticking with me and not turning in that resignation. I don't know what I would do without you. So, the next stop on your adventure is where we had our first really big fight, Hot Mama. I was so scared when you said you wanted to resign. I couldn't let my best friend and partner go. I hope you are having fun. I love you.

Amanda smiled as she collected the letter and box. She went over to the flower arrangement that was on the buffet table and she took out one of the roses. She walked out to the car and headed towards the next stop…her home.
