Chapter THIRTEEN - Well, isn't this cozy?

Amanda pulled up in front of Lee's apartment and she giggled to herself. She had seen one of the agents sitting in his car while she was at the cemetery. She thought she would have some fun with him. She lost him within 10 minutes of driving around. She was glad she ditched the agent so she could head to the second destination without being seen. She made her way to her second extra stop and ran inside. She came back out with a tiny box and a card…this time it was for Lee.

Amanda got out of the car and made her way up to Lee's apartment. She got out her key and opened the front door. She walked into the living room and her eyes grew wide. There were vases of flowers everywhere. On every shelf, on every table. On the coffee table there was another box and a letter. Amanda took her coat off and flopped down on the couch. She looked around the room and all of the flowers. She smiled and thought of Lee. He was making today so special. It was all because he asked her to take a package. She slipped her heels off and got comfy on the couch as she opened the little box Lee had left for her. Inside this box were two charms. The first one was a tiny engagement ring. She smiled knowing that she was now able to proudly wear it with everyone seeing it. She giggled to herself when she thought about what the Steno Pool really thought about her and Lee's engagement. She wondered what the Agency thought about the great Scarecrow and Mrs. King. She always stayed away from the gossip in the office but there were more times than she could count that she and Lee were the number one topic at the water cooler.

Amanda looked down at the second charm and it made her heart melt. There were two connecting hearts that had their names engraved on them "Lee and Amanda". She reached over and grabbed a tissue from the box and wiped her tears. She felt she loved Lee more now than she ever had. She couldn't wait to see him. She settled back on the couch and read the letter left by her husband.

Amanda,

If someone had told me four years ago that I would have met the love of my life at the train station I would have laughed at them. I wasn't looking for anything at that point in my life. I thought normal life was going to nightclubs. I was reckless and I only cared about myself. I let my codename dictate who I was. No one ever saw Lee Stetson…they only saw Scarecrow. That all changed when I met you. I let you in and you saw the real me. Even when I tried to push you away time after time, you never gave up on us. There is something about you Amanda King that just makes it easy for people to love you. You walked into the Agency and had every person you came in contact with love you. You bring out the best in people. You bring out the best in me. I want to make you proud of me. I want to spend the rest of our lives showing you off as my wife. I want everyone one to know that you are indeed Mrs. Lee Stetson. I know that I didn't talk to you about proposing in front of your family and our friends but it's time honey. It's time for us to live as man and wife. It's time for us to be a family.

I hope you had a wonderful day looking back at some of our incredible memories. There are so many more that I could have included, but I think you got the jest of what I was trying to tell you. Four years ago my life began, Amanda King, because I took a chance on a housewife from Arlington. My beautiful Amanda. Thank you for staying so loyal, for sticking with me and for loving me. Thank you for seeing Lee and not Scarecrow. Thank you for making me a better man, a better friend. I love you very much, Amanda Stetson. A lifetime isn't long enough for me to show you how much….so I will settle for forever. Just walk with me forever, Amanda. Just walk with me forever. I love you.

Lee

Now, you may be wondering where the last stop of this amazing day could possibly be? Your one and only clue is this….."Anyway we're among friends so it's a safe place to talk." I will see you soon, my Amanda. I love you!

Amanda wiped the tears forming in her eyes. She smiled as she flopped her hands on her lap. She took a deep breath and stood up. She finally was meeting up with Lee. What a day it had been. She clipped the two new charms to her bracelet. She looked down at it and thought about all of the memories behind each one of the tiny charms. She slipped her shoes on again and pulled on her coat. She locked the door and headed to her car. The butterflies in her stomach that she had at the beginning of this scavenger hunt came back as she knew Lee was waiting for her at the end.
