"We do not suspect that Ian Doyle had any involvement."
"I'm sorry. Did you just say Ian Doyle?" The voice of Anthony DiNozzo asked as he strolled from the elevator and over to his desk.
Jethro picked up his head, glancing up from his file, "Where you been, DiNozzo?"
Tony ignored his boss as he walked over to McGee's desk where Ziva was standing after she had just gotten off the phone with Aaron Hotchner.
"Ian Doyle?" He repeated
Ziva furrowed her eyebrows, "How do you know the name?"
"I asked first."
"McGee." Jethro called, "Pull up everything you can about Ian Doyle."
Timothy nodded, "I was already on that, boss. There's not much. Most of the information was redacted by Interpol. They caught him seven years ago, but he escaped six months ago and then killed an FBI agent named Emily Prentiss. He's still in the wind."
Jethro turned towards Tony, "Now, how do you know the name Ian Doyle?"
"Oh, well…um, he was a suspect in a murder when I was a Baltimore detective. We were about to arrest him when Interpol swooped in." Tony explained
Ziva stayed quiet through all this, getting caught up in her thoughts. She had a lot on her mind, and there was a lot of her to think about.
A Mossad misson, her sister, a marine captain, the FBI, Ian Doyle and Interpol. How did it all fit together? Nothing made sense. At least not yet, but hopefully his sister will give them some answers.
It really wasn't likely though. Since Ziva was no longer a Mossad operative, she wasn't privy to information about Mossad missions.
"Ziva, take Tony with you to bring your sister in." Jethro ordered
Her eyes widened, "Um…Gibbs, I already told you I talked to her. She is innocent."
"She knows something about our dead marine." Jethro added as he walked away, heading up the stairs to talk with Director Vance. He figured that a call to Eli David might shed some light on what their dead marine has to do with Mossad.
Ziva gave a sigh as Anthony and Timothy both turned to look at her.
"Anything you want to tell us, Zee-vah?" Tony asked
"Let's just go." Ziva insisted as she stormed over to the elevator.
Anthony and Timothy shared a glance with each other, before Tony following after Ziva.
Arriving at the Israeli embassy, Anthony saw Ziva's sister and the two of them just stared at each other.
"Detective DiNozzo?!" She uttered, shocked.
"It's agent now, Agent Pr…" Tony corrected as he was interrupted and shushed by the other woman.
She put her finger to her lips, "Likewise. It's Officer David."
His eyes widened, "Oh…you're Ziva's sister?"
Ziva was just looking quietly between Liya and Anthony, "You two know each other?"
Tony hummed, "Your sister and her team stole my case in Baltimore."
"Ten years ago, Agent DiNozzo. You're still not over it?"
"Considering that if I had put him away he'd still be in jail, then I guess my answer is no. "
Liya smirked as she just shook her head.
"Li." Ziva spoke softly, "We're here to bring you in. My boss's order. He wants to talk to you."
Liya nodded, "I expected nothing less, Z. It's what I would have done when I was still on Hotch's team."
"I still do not like it though. You are my sister."
"I'm your big sister, Z. It's my job to protect you. Not the other way around."
Ziva hummed, "Yeah. I know."
She thought back to when she was five years old. It was the first day of her training and Liya had been on her way home from completing a mission.
- 1987 -
Five year old Ziva David is anxiously waiting for her big sister's homecoming, when her father decides that it's time to start her training. They are doing knife training starting with throwing darts at a dart board.
Ziva practices throwing darts with her father for about twenty minutes before Liya comes bursting in the front door.
"Where's my favorite sister?!" Seventeen year old Liya David calls out
Ziva turns away from her father, beaming as she makes eye contact with her sister.
"LiLi!" Ziva exclaims, running into her sister's arms.
Liya wraps her arms around Ziva as she picks her up. She holds her sister close as she stares daggers into her father's eyes.
"We had an agreement." Liya says, walking over to her father, still carrying Ziva in her arms. "I join the family business and you leave Ziva alone. She will not be part of this. She will not be trained."
Eli steps up, standing up close and getting in his oldest daughter's face, "We are at war, Liya. This country needs the best of the best. I breed and raise warriors. You and Ari, and someday Ziva and Tali too."
"You already have me, and you have Ari. You ruined us for your gain. I won't let you ruin Ziva or Tali. They are off limits. Do not train them." Liya speaks with a venom in her voice, still holding Ziva in her arms, holding her against her chest.
The five year old has her arms wrapped tightly around her big sister's neck, burrowing her face in Liya's neck as she tried not to listen to the conversation better her sister and father. She did not like the training with her father and she didn't like when people yelled or argued, but she knew she was safe. She knew her sister was protecting her, and that Liya would always protect her.
