"Bye Annabeth, see you in 3 months!" I yelled to her from the concrete floors of the train station.
"Bye Percy!" She yelled back from the train.
I was going to miss her so much.
I watched quietly as the train slowly started to pull away from the station. I watched Annabeth's Face slowly slip away into the blur of the train. I wondered silently what the next 3 months would bring, what would I do without Annabeth?
With a sigh I turned my back to the train tracks and walked back to my mom's car. The mud on my shoes felt like it weighted a million pounds. I wasn't excited for this summer without Annabeth. At least here in California there were plenty of people to hang out with, so I wouldn't be alone. I mean Jason lives next door so it's not like I'll be completely alone. I can just surf a lot this summer, or something like that. I trudged over to the car; my mom was sitting there drinking hot coffee. I'll never understand why adults drink that stuff, it tastes like dirt, but Annabeth told me once it's an acquired taste, whatever that means.
"Hopefully Annabeth has fun at her architecture classes" My mom commented once I had gotten into the powdery blue Prius. It still had hoof dents in the hood from that freak accident involving a horse, I guess that just adds something my mom calls 'Character' to the car.
"Yeah" This was my great response. Annabeth had gotten invited to a prestigious Architecture program so she would be gone all summer. I was of course very proud of Annabeth because I know she had worked very hard for this, but I'm going to miss her a ton this summer.
She was my best friend, and maybe, just maybe, I had a teeny, tiny, ity bitty,
crush.
