Chapter one. The dragonets hatching
crack* the yellow egg splintered *crack* the blue egg crumbled *crack* the brown egg broke *crack* the red egg smashed *crack* the multi colored egg broke open *crack* The white egg was slit neatly over and over until it cracked and then six perfect dragonets sat there blue, white, brown, orange, pale yellow and pink staring curiously at the big dragons staring down at them. but there was another egg that had been taken out of the nest and placed in a patch of moon light that the three full moons cast down on their little island out to sea. "Where's the other one?" Eagle asked a little panicked "i put her over there" shadowstalker said pointing at the nightwing egg "nightwings that hatch under full moons get powers beyond anything imaginable by-" "we get it Shadowstalker" Crocodile interrupted "your tribe is wonderful and powerful we know" they looked back at the dragonets in the nest. the sandwing was wrestling with the seawing "Sage and Eel" shadowhunter suggested the rainwing had fallen asleep and the mudwing promptly flopped down on top of him and tried to fall asleep to, but the rainwing stood up with many squeals of outrage and went to fall asleep somewhere else. shadowstalker just picked him up then she carried him to a hammock they had set up for him earlier "Capybara" she called as she set him down the mudwing then harrumphed at Capybara and wobbled over to sleep on the skywing who wriggled around to make room for her "hmph Boulder and Milkweed" she said writing down their names above their beds she walked over and separated Sage and Eel she picked up Sage and put her a pile of sand on the floor then she dumped Eel into a small pool of water Crocodile yelped but then Eel popped up she was giggling Eagle rolled his eyes and started to help shadowstalker with the dragonets he gently separated Milkweed and Boulder then layed Boulder down on a rock ledge to sleep shadowstalker picked up Milkweed and started to place the baby mudwing in a mud puddle but Crocodile sweeped over took the baby mudwing from shadowstalker and just placed her on the ground next to the puddle "she could drown" Crocodile sad at shadowstalker's look of disapproval her face cleared where's the icewing Frost turned around and pointed curiously at himself "no not you silly" shadowstalker giggled "the baby" "oh" Frost said he turned around to show them his tail where the baby ice wing was sitting on it and poking Frosts tale then looking at his own tail kind of 'hmmming' with his face all scrunched up "ha ha he kinda looks like a Reindeer" Crocodile laughed the shadowstalker got the look she gets when she has an idea she sidled over to the pile of polar bear furs for the icewing and she wrote Reindeer above his bed "REALLY" Frost asked annoyed "couldn't i have at least named the icewing" "In my tradition the mothers choose the names and here i am the mother so i name the dragonets" "none of these are even yours" Eagle pointed out as he left the cave to go check on the skywing "true" Shadowstalker whispered "be right back" Frost grumbled as he left the cave when he came back Reindeer was in his bed "we should probably get to bed that one hasn't even cracked-" but he was interrupted by a fierce *tap* from the other cave then several more in rapid succession "it's hatching" Shadowstalker squealed rushing into the other cave a few moments later a perfect purplish tail jabbed out followed by legs, beautiful black wings and a perfect little head she stood up surveyed the dragons around her then ran over to hug the black one which was Shadowstalker but then the baby dragon yelped and jumped away from Shadowstalker "what's wrong?" Shadowstalker cooed to the dragonet. The dragonet looked up at the three full moons but then she started tracing constellations in the air with her claws "Starseer" Shadowstalker said looking at the baby in awe the baby looked at her and totaled over to place her palm on Eagles leg "yip" Starseer screeched she looked curiously all around and placed one talon on Frosts tail "AAACK" Starseer screamed she pulled away quickly the put a talon on Crocodiles leg she kind of backed up but then jumped into his arms "aw" Crocodile chuckled "i'll be right back i have an uneasy feeling" she came back with all six of the dragonets "what are you-" Eagle and Frost started "shh" Shadowstalker whispered "i think… I think i'm having a vision"
