Chapter 2

.

As Tuvok went to question T'Pol he reviewed what he knew about her. T'Pol was the descendant of a vulcan who served alongside captain Archer more than 200 years ago. She was a sociology professor before she joined the Maquis. She felt it was illogical to obey the peace treaty if the cardassians were clearly violating it. T'Pol was assigned to Chakotay's ship, and ended up stranded in the Delta Quadrant along with Voyager. At that point it seemed perfectly logical to T'Pol to agree to the truce, why restart a war that might be over long before Voyager returned to the Alpha Quadrant? Why would T'Pol murder Susan? It seemed illogical, but at the moment Tuvok had no other leads.

.

Tuvok: You have heard about Susan's death?

T'Pol: Yes, a tragedy.

Tuvok: Mr Neelix says you were talking to her shortly before she died.

T'Pol: Yes. She was on an away mission a few days ago, I was asking about their society. I am trying to write a book about the sociology of the different planets we have encountered.

Tuvok: I have noticed that you volunteer for quite a few away missions.

T'Pol: Indeed. In all honesty I am hoping that the Federation takes my observations into account when deciding potential prosecution for my actions with the Maquis.

Tuvok: Captain Janeway has promised to speak on all of your behalfs should this ship return home.

T'Pol: He word was never in doubt, but her influence is less than absolute. It would help to have an exemplary record to show.

Tuvok: That is logical. Can you think of any reason why Susan would take her own life?

T'Pol: No. She joined the Maquis because her son was living on the border, she was willing to risk prosecution if it meant seeing him again.

Tuvok: Making her suicide all the more illogical.

T'Pol: In my experience suicide is usually illogical.

Tuvok: True. I have no further questions at the moment. If I think of any I will let you know.

.

Shortly after T'Pol left Tuvok B'Elanna Torres confronted her.

.

B'Elanna: Tuvok let you go?

T'Pol: Ofcourse.

B'Elanna: Yeah, I guess if you kept up your poker face he'd believe your story.

T'Pol: I did not kill her.

B'Elanna: We both know she wouldn't have killed herself.

T'Pol: I can only say for certain that I did not murder Susan. Beyond that, I'll wait until the doctor finishes his autopsy before reaching any conclusions.

B'Elanna: How long before me or someone else dies under mysterious circumstances?

T'Pol: I cannot say.
