Chapter 2
They took her to the station and she refused to talk or eat. Pippa Cox came and was updated. She attempted to talk to Kim, but she was in total shutdown mode. They were all sitting around when Beth Anne Rollins showed up. She was beautiful. She had blonde hair and her eyes were very distinctive. Fin leaned over to Olivia, "She has a 25 year old daughter?"
Olivia laughed, "She also has a 8 year old and 3 month old." Fin nodded, realizing she must have started young. Olivia watched her as she talked to the police officer at the front desk. She took a deep breath when the officer pointed to Olivia.
Beth looked concerned and worried, "Where the hell is my daughter?" Pippa stepped in, informing her that she was safe but they needed to talk. Olivia and Fin sat with her. Beth questioned them the whole time, "Why did you pull her out of school?"
Olivia didn't want to be her enemy, "She had bruises on her arm." Pippa explained the process of what needed to happen, before Kim could return home. She also informed her that Noah would be picked up as well. She asked about family members, because they often tried to place them with family, before strangers. Beth scoffed, "She's fucking 8."
Olivia saw the pushback, "She also defended you and loves you. She told us it was her fault and that's where our concern begins." Kim was safe and wasn't going home. Fin explained what the 8 year old said, "So Mrs. Rollins, Kim isn't coming with you until Ms. Cox completes her investigation."
Nick Amaro walked in with a file smiling and handed it to Olivia. She flipped through it. Beth Anne Rollins had been through some very rough times. She had her first daughter at 14 with her 16 year old boyfriend Jim Rollins. They were street kids as known in New York. They lived alone and survived the best way possible.
Jim got in trouble with his best friend, Johnny Drake while Beth was pregnant. Johnny's mother took in Beth and Amanda. Jim took the wrap and he did 3 years, while Johnny went free. Jim married Beth when he got out of Juvenile Detention.
Olivia kept flipping, Amanda ran away and they didn't have much on her. Shortly after Kim was born Jim Rollins was found murdered. Beth lived with Johnny Drake after that, but they never got married.
Nick was a good detective, he even ran Timmer's file and it was long. Drug and rape charges. Olivia closed the file and looked at Beth. She heard Pippa ask about placement, "Would Amanda be able to take Kim?"
Beth looked up with fear, "I don't know where Amanda is?" Olivia smiled, "We can find her." She looked at the two way mirror and gave Nick the look. Cragen told him to get on it.
Fin kept pushing, "You seem to care about your kids, Noah is being picked up now. You're in a bind and you can either work with us and get your children back or…"
Beth snapped, "Or what? You think you're going to get Timmer or Johnny." Beth covered her face, "Amanda was smart and Kim is her twin. She just had more advantages and time. I sent Amanda away because of Johnny. I have put money in her account for years." Beth actually kept it straight, she had a normal job and took care of herself. "She doesn't know about Kim or Noah. When she turned 21 she closed her account and returned every cent I ever deposited. So, I don't know where she is and I don't think she would be willing to help. I do know when you start this process, keep the kids, because we're all dead."
Beth proceeded to give them all the information she had, she never wanted to live that life. She seemed stuck, her only request was to see Kim and Noah. Johnny D started as a pimp then turned to drugs and sex trafficking. He raped Beth the entire time Jim was locked up. He started messing with Amanda although Beth didn't know if he ever got her. She couldn't prove it but he murdered Jim. "Jim thought I didn't love Amanda. I loved her the most. I just tried to protect her by sending her away. I told him everything and he left mad looking for him. Next thing I know he was dead."
She gave them the address of the houses she knew about. As promised she saw her kids, "Mom! I'm sorry." Olivia watched Beth interact with them. "Shhh! It's ok baby. You didn't do anything wrong. I did though. I love you and I want you to be a good girl and take care of Noah. She sat with them, fed Noah, and made sure Kim ate because she wouldn't.
Olivia sat at her desk and Nick gave her a paper. He found Amanda. "Apparently she's a tech kid, makes sense. They make big money, their own hours and you don't need college anymore." Olivia looked at her address, "Son of bitch!" Fin looked up, "What?" Olivia smiled, "She lives in my building."
Olivia pulled her up on the computer. She smiled seeing her face. She had bleach blonde hair and these bright beautiful blue eyes. Olivia had questioned her sexuality before. She had messed around in college and then there was the trial period with Alex years ago. Alex was definitely a lesbian, but Olivia liked both sides. She shook her head and told herself, "No Liv! She's young and damaged." Olivia looked at the computer screen, "And sexy as fuck." Olivia closed her eyes and rubbed her head.
Fin asked, "Liv, are you ok?" Olivia tried to hide her face, because if anyone could figure it out, Fin could. "Yeah, just tired. Let's go talk to her."
They put a car on Timmer and Johnny D. They couldn't just go after them. The other problem was keeping Beth safe. The plan was not to lie, well completely lie. She was supposed to go home and tell Johnny exactly what happened minus some details. The teacher saw the bruise on Kim and CPS had them. Pippa took the kids and Beth told them she loved them. Beth stopped Olivia, "Sergeant Benson, when you talk to Amanda, give her this please."
Olivia saw Amanda's name on the outside of the envelope. Olivia smiled, "Ok. I will." Fin and Olivia headed to her building. Olivia knocked and Amanda opened the door. She looked at Fin first and saw his badge hanging from the chain around his neck and then at Olivia's badge hanging off her belt.
Amanda noticed Olivia right away and looked her in the eyes. "Damn! Cops are sexy as fuck these days." Olivia was shocked, even more that she used her same words to describe her. Fin laughed and Olivia rolled her eyes at him. Amanda smiled, "But you're still cops and I hate cops. What the fuck do you want?"
Olivia was even more shocked. She wanted to say, "I want to turn your ass over my knee and fix that mouth" but she smiled and said, "I'm Sergeant Olivia Benson and this is Detective Odafin Tutuola. We're here to talk about your family."
Amanda, who didn't have the door opened all the way, blinked those blue eyes that captivated Olivia, "I don't have any family." Then she slammed the door. Amanda fell against her side of the door and breathed in and out quickly, almost having a panic attack. She did have a mother but her father was dead. She remembered seeing it in the paper and crying. Her dad loved her. She decided long ago to stay in New York, but she was afraid they would find her one day. She had secrets that no one knew and she would keep it that way.
She heard Olivia's voice, "It's your mom Beth, your sister Kim, and your brother Noah." Amanda froze and talked to herself, "What sister and brother?" Her mind was racing and she couldn't move. She heard the voice again through the door, "Amanda, I know this is shocking. Here's my card and I live in the building if you want to talk." Olivia wrote her cell and apartment number on the card.
Amanda saw a business card pushed under the door. She picked it up, but still didn't open the door. The card smelled like her. "And Amanda this is from your mom." Olivia pushed the envelope under the door. Olivia and Fin left.
Fin walked Olivia up and sat down. "Liv, that doesn't happen every day. Are you feeling her too?" Olivia grabbed the Chinese menu and rolled her eyes, "Everything that has happened today and that's going on, that's what's on your mind? She's a kid." Fin laughed, "She's brown and raised herself. That's not an answer and you're sexy as fuck."
Olivia put him out after that. She checked her phone. Cragen had a car sitting on Beth and Johnny's home for safety. She heard a knock and thought it was the food. She opened the door and saw a nervous kid.
Amanda was holding Olivia's card and her mother's letter. Amanda moved as she saw the food delivered, "I'm sorry. I'll leave so you can eat with your family." Olivia pulled her in, "It's just me. Come in." She paid and grabbed the food. She saw Amanda standing there afraid to move. "Do you want to eat with me? I have plenty." Olivia unpacked the food and grabbed plates. Olivia made her a plate, "You should eat something."
Amanda pushed the food around, "You saw her?" Olivia nodded, "I did. I met her today." Amanda was in disbelief, "I have a sister and a brother?" Olivia nodded again, "Kim is 8 and Noah is 3 months old." She could see her thinking so she explained what she knew and where the kids were.
That only frustrated Amanda, "Great a fucking picture perfect family. So what the fuck I am supposed to do? Why did you come to me? You think I'm gonna save them or something?" Olivia touched her back and rubbed it, "It's ok Amanda. Your reaction is valid." Amanda started to calm down. Olivia gave her a minute, "Hey, eat your food." Amanda looked up, "Are you my mom or something?"
Olivia smiled and leaned in her ear, "With that mouth, you better be glad I'm not." Amanda felt a shiver and her whole body felt weird. "And I mean, you think I'm sexy as fuck so I know I'm old, but hopefully mom doesn't pop into your mind."
Amanda turned bright red and stuffed food in her mouth. She did that ever since she was young. Had no control and would pop off before thinking. It was actually one of her worst faults.
Amanda held the envelope, "I don't want this. I don't want anything from her."
Olivia took it hoping she would change her mind, "Ok, how about I hold it?" Amanda started crying, "If I don't take them, I look like a jackass." Amanda didn't even know them. She left that part of her life so long ago. She was overwhelmed with emotion.
Olivia sighed and moved closer to her. She rubbed her back and tried to offer comfort, "Amanda no one expects more than you can offer. You can get to know them even if you feel like you can't take care of them." Amanda did something not even Olivia expected, she kissed her.
Olivia pushed her back. Amanda froze, "I'm sorry! I… I… I've got to go." Amanda ran and Olivia stopped at the door. She thought she did something wrong, maybe got close to fast. Olivia finished a whole bottle of wine after that.
The next morning Fin noticed, "Bad night?" Olivia told him everything. "You let a kid put the moves on you?" Olivia was pissed, "Fin, it crossed the line. I shouldn't have even let her in." Fin joked a lot but Olivia was his friend, "Liv, you didn't cross a line. She's an adult and she kissed you." Fin smiled wide, "Did you like it though?"
