3rd Person POV

Marinette yawned. Today was yet another Monday, and last night had been really long, with Chat Noir all up in her face about having a date. He even suggested Nadia Chamack, second-biggest town gossip, cover it on live TV! What a goofball.

Another yawn. "Tikki?" Marinette said. "Yes?" answered her small kwami. "Is there an event today? Marinette yawn-said. "No, other than the fact that its a school day," the kind kwami responded. "Thanks Tikki, you're the best," replied the bluenette.

Marinette flopped down from her bed to get dressed. As she was pulling on her signature jacket, her mom called, "Breakfast in five minutes, honey!" "Okay!" Marinette shouted back.

At school (she finally made it on time), she saw something that made her gag. She instantly regretted being on time.

Lila was claiming that she knew the exchange students and they were quite nice. She said that one would be arriving from China, another from Cuba, and a third from the Dominican Republic. "They're not from here," she stated maliciously, "so don't be surprised if they can't speak good English."

Marinette's POV

Oh, how I hated that witch! I felt like Lila was being purposefully racist about people from Africa, Cuba, and Asia. I knew my mom's family from China, and every one of them was telling me how they learn to speak near-perfect English at school. Unless the exchange students were unable to afford school expenses, they should speak English well or even French! I was feeling a surge of emotions crashing through my system, churning like white-capped waves in an ocean of discomfort and hate. I breathed deeply and left the area with a snorting hmph loud enough for Lila to hear it over the clattering commotion of clamoring girls who were trying to get a glimpse of Lila.
