Chapter 1
On the count of 3
Curly fries were not well known around Ponyville, until after that night. Often ponies found him without purpose. Curly Fries had no good talent. So the ponies ignored the poor stallion. Curly Fries lived on the bad side of town where every attack happened in Ponyville. Curly fries, on many occasions, were ridden to the frostbitten cold nights. Homeless. Faith ran low for Curly Fries, as his life was washed away with never-ending lonesomeness and depression. No one wanted a stallion such as him. A fat mustard horse, with messy smoky-colored curly mane and stubbed tail. He was also not very attractive to many.
"Truly one of the most pathetic unicorns to ever live" they'd say. The taunts and mockery we're endless. That was this stallion's life. It was going to end soon. 3 Curly Fries knows his magic wouldn't save him. 2 he wishes for more options. 1 He needs answers now. Before the impact, a gray pony soars the sky. Bringing him protection and a second chance. Who was this mare? Who cared enough about him to save him from a fate such as so. Who was this angel? It was the muffin mare. Derpy Hooves…
Curly Fries wakes up. Curly Fries clenches a fist. Curly Fries looks at his hooves then back and forth. Where was the gray mare? Was this just a dream? He was home but he wasn't alone. I felt someone in his room. Pop, pop, pop, It smelled like soap.
"Hello," Curly Fries asked, his voice shaking under his breath. A mare's chuckle zooms through the area. Curly Fries sees movement.
"What do you want," Curly Fries asked. His curls up to the end of the bed, Curly Fries feels a sudden thud. There is a pony with a gray coat and blonde hair. She hands him a bubble wand. Curly Fries sits there stunned in slight confusion.
"Go on," She says. Pointing her hoof to the bubble wand. Curly Fries blow bubbles. He felt she was harming him. Curly Tries to pop it. Trying to have a bit of fun in the emotions. Derpy Hooves yells at the top of her lungs "DON'T POP IT!". Curly Fries got scared, letting out a tiny yelp shaken confused scared he still wanted to die. He hears a ping from the kitchen.
"I'll get them," She says. She brings out muffins. Steam rises from them. That's when Curly Fries noticed her eyes. They were deformed. Mismatched. Crossed is a pretzel. Curly says nothing.
"Who are you?" Curly Fries asked. His voice cracked under the pressure. The Mare responded.
"I'm Derpy Hooves, Who are you?" Curly Fries took a quick pause, he looked down then back up seeing the pony more. He senses that there's no threat.
"I. I'm Curly Fries" he hesitated. He wasn't even sure what the pony was doing in his house.
"Ok Curly Fries, nice to know who I saved!" she cheered.
"Nice to meet you too." The mare hand Curly fries a muffin. She brushes his hair back and walks off. She opens the apartment door. Just before she's out she stops.
"I was once in your shoes, you know. Alone, miserable, useless. Just promise me the night ok Curly Fries ok." Before Curly Fries speaks she rushes out the door. Curly kept his promise he gave her the night. Just the night. Little did Curly Fries know many nights were to come.
Chapter 2
Bubbles
The morning was greeted by the mare heating a muffin from the day before. She put a butter slab on it. Served it with some Curly Fries.
"Why are you doing this?" Curly asked at the table chills down his spine as he hides his face in his shirt.
"Why do you have a table for two," Derpy asked jumping off the topic
"In case of hope just the slightest chance to find a friend or find a lover" Derpy ate her creation. A smile on her face as if she didn't care. Curly Fries gets up and grabs a coat. Curly Fries hadn't missed work in years he had over 2 weeks of paid vacation he could use. He didn't want Curly to know it'd be his last.
"I call you in for a vacation," Derpy says. Curly was in total shock. Looking behind him he sees her smile.
"Why did you do that? If I work I don't have to think about it." Curly fries squeaked. Curly Fries tears up and was almost ready to use his magic on derpy to fight her.
"I know we need to solve this head-on," Derpy insisted.
"I don't know you. Why do you care?" Curly yelled.
"I just do, I see something in you," Derpy says. Curly Fries' heart flutters. No one ever had told him that. Why was it now that this was to happen? Curly Fries stops crying. He wipes a tear. Derpy pats him on the side. She hands him a bubble wand.
"Go on," She says. Curly Fries blows a bubble and it lands on him. He tries to sweep it off.
"DON'T POP IT!" Derpy yelled. The bubble wiggles and wobbles. Soon the bubble pops on its own.
"Did you see the way it moved? Did you see that" Derpy says
"It was nice," Curly Fries said. He wasn't sure where she was going.
"If you'd popped that bubble you might not have seen that way it wiggled or the way it stayed on your shoulder" Derpy grabbed his hooves and rushed out the door. Their outside ponies stared at the two. Ponies gabbed and gossiped. All of the worlds filled like fluid in Curly Fries's ears.
"Derpy can we please go back," Curly Fries asked.
"Just keep going," Derpy yells. There they head to Sugarcube Corner. Never had Curly fries thought of going here. There they order a muffin. Curly sits next to the girl and they talk. She blows a bubble.
"Where is the bubble going," Derpy asked
"I don't know? Up" Curly asked. The bubble shifts down.
"Not anymore" Derpy points out. POP
"I wish it would land on my shoulder as the last one," Curly complained.
"That is not always going to happen you know"
"Why"
"Because if you want something sometimes you have to let go and we had to let this one go."
"I don't know if another one will overland on me"
"You don't know that's the fun in bubbles" Curly Fries gets up he suddenly feels better. He let go of the word of the pony's rumors. Derpy and Curly Fries walk home. When they reached the building. Derpy leaves. She pauses.
"Promise me the night," She asked.
"I promise," Curly said and he did just the night.
Chapter 3
Double Dare
Again another morning with the girl he began to enjoy the company. Rather than bubbles, he was greeted with a question. "How do you make french fries?" She asked
"Didn't you cook them for me yesterday, you told me at the Sugar Cube Corner" Curly asked.
"Yes, but they were really bad" Curly had to admit they were not great just by the way she spoke of them.
"Fine, I'll show you" Curly sighed. He showed the mare. He pulls out his fryer, a small portal in his home he uses sometimes, and puts in the oil he takes potato chopper and chopped them quickly then the derpy's amazed by the magic. Guided by magic. He does several things teaching her the steps floating them around her. Finally, they finished her pulls out the fires and lets them rest
"What now?" Curly asked. Derpy puts them in a bag. She grabs his hooves and runs outside. Curly Fries gulps
They head to the Everfree forest. Never had he thought he'd go there. The silence was nice but his thoughts flooded his head.
"Let it go," he told himself
"Derpy can we please go back," Curly Fries asked, unable to take it.
"Just keep going," Derpy yells in glee. Curly Fries accepted he felt something. Like he knew he'd be ok. There they find a pond. Critters played and danced everywhere. Derpy blows a bubble. Curly fries stand there.
"Why are u just standing there pop it," Derpy said.
"But you don't like it"
"I know I'm asking u to defy my wishes"
"Ok I'll pop it," he said in question. curly fries pop it with hesitation. After that, they feed the animals. Curly fries were happy the ducks loved his French fries. Derpy and Curly Fries walked home. Derpy drops him off at his building.
"I promise you the night," Curly said, assuming what Derpy would say.
"Well I have an appointment tomorrow with the doctors so I need you to do something for me" Derpy goes on
"What's that derpy" Curly Fries asked
"Promise me two" Curly Fries tears up but there's nothing he could do. Curly promised her two just two.
The two days were torture for Curly Fries, but even so, he went to sugarcube corner and the Everfree forest. That's when he met others. A pink pony and he became friends, him and Pinkie Pie, everything was falling into place. Curly Fries didn't even know. His head filled with his thoughts, he had to keep his word. Day 4 of his vacation was a mess too. It wasn't till Derpy came to see him, he felt completely him again. As Curly did what he was told, he began to connect the mare's bubbles with his world. Day 5, Derpy didn't bring bubbles. They went outside. Curly Fries didn't feel scared. Curly wondered where. It was a long walk, but they made it to Appleloosa. He'd been here many moons ago. There, they were greeted by a few ponies, the apple family Granny Smith, Apple Bloom, Big Mac, and AppleJack, There they buck and pick apples. Curly tried to grab one, but it was stuck. Derpy gave him a look. Curly Fries stopped. Climbed down the ladder and looked up."Don't feel bad Curly Fries, it's just an apple plenty more out there" Derpy says. Curly fries knew it was true so they walked on.
Chapter 4
Dreams
Curly and Derpy walked home with an apple. Derpy and him we're to make muffins and apple fries. It made Curly Fries happy. As the night drew they ate their apple creations. Curly's mind began to fill. Finally, he cried. Derpy flew over to him.
"What's wrong?" Derpy asked
"It's NOTHING," curly insisted.
"Don't say that. It's nothing. It's something, we don't want to end up as we did a week ago." Curly kept crying. Curly falls into the pegasus girl's arms. There he was hugged. As quickly as his tears stopped Curly Fries fell asleep. Derpy flew him to his bed.
"I'll be here all night if you want to talk," Derpy says to the silence. There she gets herself into the bed and snuggles curly fries. An hour later Curly wakes up in the arms of the mare so warm. She is asleep, her breath soft and her heart steady. Sounded normal. He was surprised. It was peaceful and calm. It put him back to sleep. Curly wakes up again and she is gone. Their note was on his nightstand.
I think I need the day off. I'm trusting you with the night. I know you can. Curly felt conflicted. Why would she trust him like that? So he ignored it and ate a muffin. Then he sits alone in his room. Until the knock. Was that Derpy? He had only wished. It did not come true.
Instead, he was greeted by Princess Luna. She was much taller than he'd thought. Curly bows down.
"There is no need for you bowing. I must show you something," she says. She brings out a jar where a creature pounced. Curly Fries remembered the Tatas. A creature that scared all of Ponyville. The ball moves around banging on the jar wanting to be free.
"Luna what are you doing with this my lady," Curly Fries asked nervously. She smiles.
"Do you not remember that night when the Tatabis ruined the city in our dreams"
"Of course, I remember but not well why everything happened so fast"
"This was feeding on my regrets. It got stronger and stronger until the bubble popped and it consumed dreams. If I'd just forgiven the past. The destruction of many pony minds wouldn't have happened. You need to forgive yourself. You need to let out any feelings you have or like the Tatabis it will consume you and everything around you. I've noticed how secure you are keeping everything locked and making sure everything is in top shape. I'm giving you the spirit of the Tatabis please protect it" Luna walks out without another word. Leaving a jar. Curly Fries felt a purpose and like that he promised Derpy the night. Just the night.
Chapter 5
Final Countdown
Five days left how fast time has flown.
"I know there's something you're not telling me, whatever it is you can tell me" Derpy paused.
"Well I'm fine really" Curly insisted
"You can't keep it forever," Derpy says.
"Just give me time," Curly said Derpy takes one more step then pauses. He knew what she felt but he had to say it right.
"I'm done asking for the night next 3 nights can you promise to stay"
"I….I…." Curly wondered if she'd be back.
"I'll visit" Derpy giggled
"When"
"You never know" Curly knew that she'd show she was a friend.
"Ok, I promise 3 more nights" was he going to do it or not. Four Days left today she brought the bubbles. Like normal she took his hooves and moved him along soon she was too fast and there he was alone near a castle. He walks going to the castle where he sees an alicorn. Twilight Sparkle.
"Hey nice to meet you I'm Twilight Sparkle what's your name," She asked
"I'm Curly Fries" He goes on and starts to talk. Curly Fries was doing so much he never thought possible. That's when he realized he could do it. He could do so much. That day he went to a cottage, Meeting Fluttershy, and watched Wonderbolts in the sky meeting Rainbow Dash. Got a new suit and tie with rarity. Before the end of his day, Derpy returns.
"You did it. you can do anything. I saw you. It was amazing" Derpy says.
"If I can do anything then tomorrow I'll tell you my secret," Curly Fries says. That night Curly Fries was scared he knew his secret was going to change everything they had but if Derpy said he could do anything. He could. Curly the next morning dressed in a suit and tie. Derpy showed up and she had bubbles.
"Derpy I" She blew a bubble
"What do you want me to do"
"Whatever you want" Curly Fries popped it. Quickly he takes the bubble wand and blows another. It popped. On its own.
"But first It's time my bubble pops. I'm popping it. I'm making this happen. It's not popping on its own. It's time I told you something. I love you. I need you. I….." Curly Fries was paused
"I know but the truth is I'm not from here… I love you but …"
"I get it, long-distance is hard….."
"You're Ok with this"
"In the beginning, you blew me a bubble. That bubble flew away but I wanted to land on my shoulder. At that moment you told me to let it go and if I love something I need to let it go, and though this hurts I've never been happier in my last 13 days…. like a bubble it will go down. Like it is now. I'm letting you go because I can. I can do anything. I just hope we can at least I have a friend if you want to be my friend"
"We can always befriend until the end of time. Speaking of time tomorrow I'm leaving to go home where I belong. Will, you come to say goodbye"
"Only if we go somewhere today just us"
"There's more than just us, show me your friends" Derpy smiled. Curly knew this was her final day so he let it be just so. In Ponyville ponies are known as Curly Fries.
Chapter 6
Tardis
Derpy claimed she was riding a blue box-like thing called a tardis that she and Roseluck. We're going to go back to their place and time. Derpy claimed She was going to go back to the good old days. Curly Fries didn't understand it seemed strange blue boxes, somepony he'd never been introduced to by derpy. He didn't care. Curly Fries sucked up the last bit of time he had with derpy in a long time. Derpy and he went to a memorial of a fallen treehouse library. A pony was crying.
"You know everyone said this place was useless and that it should go away." Derp goes on
"But as soon as it left everyone was sad they had forgotten what beautiful things this library brought to them " Derp pauses as she inhales then lets it go. "I think the pony didn't like it because they said it was haunted or something to do with magic but A pony named Twilight Sparkle saw the good in the library. She didn't believe in superstitions however it makes sense she liked it here. Anyway, something that seems so small and unimportant can turn out to be something everyone missed out on."/ Derpy said while dropping a flower. She walked off there and they headed to the mountain.
"A hero named Fluttershy saved us before she climbed this mountain and took down a dragon which was bringing smog in the air she didn't think she could do it but if it wasn't for her friends to fail she would have never known her true strength and would have never talked to the dragon" Derpy exclaimed. They were at the base of the mountain. Derpy turns around. She keeps walking. They head to Rarity's boutique.
"Rarity would have never gotten her 3 stores in Ponyville, Manehattan, and Canterlot if she didn't trust her magic and wait to see what made her special." Derpy keeps going there and they head to the Sugar Cube Corner.
2"If Pinkie Pie stopped partying after Cheese Sandwich took over, who knows where'd she be." Derpy exclaimed. They walked in, got muffins, and rushed out. There Rainbow Dash zooms the sky.
"RAINBOW" Derpy yells. Their rainbow tells her story of the Wonderbolts and how she had been on the reserves for so long and when the others called her Crash. That's when Curly Fries knew he wasn't alone he wasn't the only one who suffered. They end at Appleloosa.
"I'm leaving tomorrow morning. I'll get you, don't worry," Derpy says. Curly Fries was super sad, his emotions ran wild and he cried.
"What's wrong Curly Fries," Derpy asked
"Right when I'm just getting comfortable with my life you have to go. Why couldn't we have made this work…." Curly cries. Derpy kisses his cheek.
"It'll be ok I believe in you," Derpy says she trots away and soon Curly Fries goes home.
Chapter 7
Good-Bye
2 days till his vacation was over and tonight was his last night with Derpy. As the night comes to a close he stares at the Tatabis that Luna gave him. He smiles. 13 days ago he would have never thought this would happen to him. He didn't know the future would look so bright. Curly Fries goes to bed. His night was quiet. Perfectly quiet. A knock on the door wakes him up. Their derpy and 2 other ponies were there. A rose pony and a time-turner pony. They lead him to a corner of an old building where there is a blue phone box. One said had spray paint that dripped saying bad wolf. The two other ponies get in. Derpy stands there
"Promise me to promise me the rest of your life," Derpy says.
"Of course," Curly says Derpy prances in the box. Before the door closes Curly looks inside it was larger than he thought. Slam the door closed. Curly here's a woosh, and then another. The Blue Box disappears. Just like that, the girl was gone. Who was this mare? Who cared enough about him to save him from a fate such as so. Who was this angel? It was the muffin mare. Derpy Hooves… The day after Derpy left Curly Fries met a black pony with dark brown straightened mane and spiky tail she was Pudding Pop. She was special
"You want to know what bubbles taught me," Curly Fries asked. Holding a bottle of bubbles, Pudding Pop nods in agreement. Little did she know a miracle of love and friendship was to come.
6 years have passed. Curly Fries is a year into marriage with Pudding Pop, she's stolen his heart and became his wife, they also had a child on the way. On the night of the child's birth, a different mail mare gave them a box. A gray pony, with 2 mismatched yellow eyes, and blond hair. She wasn't too much older looking from where they left off. Curly Fries knew who she was, Derpy Hooves.
"Thank you Derpy Hooves," Curly says to her. She smiles while handing a box.
"Here's some advice on the right ways to raise a child and a muffin" She walks off.
"If you ever want to see a paradox without you let me know" she exclaimed
Curly Fries opens the letter You doing it right! He closes the letter and eats the muffin. When the muffin was finished Curly Fries heard a scream. He knew what he needed to do. He knew whatever he was doing. He was doing it right.
Now Curly Fries has a loving Pudding Pop with their Child Chilly Fries. They've opened a food truck with all the money from their business and moved to a better part of Ponyville.
