A/N: Written for prompt #21 Rhythm at 100ships at dreamwidth
Hunter groaned and buried her head in her hands. Everyone, including her had been worrying since they'd arrived in Connecticut, and they had so much stuff to do on top of that. Hunter's head felt full.
"What's wrong?" She looked to see Willow, who had a slight frown on their face.
"I need to take my mind off things," Hunter replied. She caught a sound coming from down the hall. Apparently, someone had put on music. Hunter didn't recognize it, like most Human music, but it was nice and catchy. "Do you want to dance?"
Willow looked surprised but nodded and said, "Sure."
She took their hand and led them into the living room. Together they began to turn and shuffle, feeling out how to move together. Eventually, they began to form a rhythm, dipping and twirling and sliding with each other. Once she was confident in her ability to synchronize with Willow, Hunter began paying attention to the lyrics of the song they were dancing to.
…Life ain't passing you by
I'm trying to tell you
It will if you don't even try
You can fly if you'd only cut loose, footloose…
More sliding, and turning, and shaking. Willow had taken the lead, and she was simply following. Dancing was nice, exhilarating, even. It felt great to move about, to listen to the song and follow along with Willow's steps and not have to think about all that they had been through and all that they would have to go through in order to get back home and save the Isles. But for a few minutes, she was able to forget all of this and have a bit of fun with Willow.
…Please, Louise
Pull me up off my knees
Jack, get back
C'mon, before we crack…
A few of the other occupants of the house had gathered - Amity and Camila. The Nocedas' front room (or "living room" as Luz and Camila had called it) wasn't particularly small by Human standards, at least according to them. However, when all seven of them were in it it did feel cramped. It wasn't that full, but the additional people made it harder to move. Still, they danced on.
…Everybody cut, everybody cut
(Everybody) everybody cut footloose!
Willow twirled Hunter around and they struck a pose as they finished. Their impromptu audience clapped.
"That was great!" Camila said as the next song started. "You two are really talented."
"Thanks!" Willow replied.
