The Beginning

[POV: Vali]

I had always wanted to be reincarnated but I never thought that I would. Life really is full of wonders.

The first thing I remembered was waking up in the body of a 6-year-old child as if that wasn't enough I was situated in this very large room fit for a king. This was a weird experience because for the first 10 minutes I thought that it was a dream. It was only until I felt a terrible pain in my head and memories of a person I clearly knew not started flooding in did I finally realize that I was in Asgard home to the Aesir and warriors such as Thor who was not born yet and Odin, my uncle and the current King. This was not something I had expected in a million years.

This body's name was Vali and he was the son of the late VĂ©, the only brother of Odin. I had never thought that this would happen. As I entered the hallways of the palace a woman who I had known as a demon from hell from the memories found me.

"My Prince, why aren't you in lessons?" questioned the she-devil

"Ah, I forgot?" I replied innocently

I actually had no clue why I was here and yes I was a Prince.

"Let me help you then," she said helpfully

She then led me through the giant and never-ending hallways as we finally stopped at a large door and she left me there.

I slowly opened the enormous doors and the first thing I saw was a middle-aged man, who I recognized immediately from my memories because he was none other than Tyr the god of war. He was sitting on an armchair he then looked down at me and gestured to me to come towards him, and so I did.

"Hey, teacher" I waved and called out to him, playing the part of his friendly 6-year-old cousin.

"Hello Vali, I trust you've been well?" He spoke in a loud voice that held a certain inexplicable charm to it.

"I've been fine."

"Oh so then what held you up? You usually aren't late to any of our 1 on 1's?"

"I kinda forgot we had a meeting today," I spoke sheepishly while bringing my hand up to rub the back of my head awkwardly as a shonen protagonist would.

His eyes narrowed for a minute before he replied.

"Very well then, see to it that you don't forget again. I abhor tardiness, but since this was your first time being late, I'll let it slide. But make sure it does not happen again, is that understood?"

"Sir yes sir," I spoke while saluting to hopefully convey childlike seriousness to the elder god.

"Good. Then today I will be teaching you about authorities Vali," he said in a very serious manner.

I nodded my head and listened attentively curious about the topic.

"Every Asgardian is born with an authority; an understanding of the universe which grants its user incredible abilities."

"They can range from something small like [Dirt] to things beyond your wildest imagination, an example would be mine which is [War]."

"Are you with me so far?"

"Ya, I understand so far."

"Good then as previously mentioned, an authority in simple terms is an understanding of our vast universe which gives birth to magical abilities. Most if not all gods are born with innate authorities, granting them access and control over magical abilities far easier than other races. It is one of the reasons we gods are so revered around the entire universe."

"So other races aren't born with authorities?" I asked feeling slight awe at the fact I was able to get such a cool ability, though hopefully, my authority would actually be useful and not useless.

"No, it is something that is unique to gods, if every race had innate access to authorities then there would be never-ending bloodshed for superiority between all the races. So in this case, less would be more. As fewer people have access to it, those people have mastered their abilities to the point they can contend with those who have greater inborn authorities."

"Although there are exceptional individuals within the mortal races that are able to comprehend authorities, and as such are given the title of Sage. Essentially they become 'gods'. There are many different stages of authority comprehension, so if a mortal understood an authority to a decent level they would have increased strength, regeneration, vitality, etc. But if they were to comprehend it to a higher degree they would be no less than a god."

"I hope you're able to keep up with my pace."

"Yeah, it's kinda confusing but I understand the gist of it."

He nodded and I could see approval in his eyes, as he went to speak once again.

"Well then, as for how well you can use your authority depends on the individual and their comprehension level. For example, someone who had a weak authority like dirt, but had a high comprehension level would perhaps even be able to 'upgrade' your ability by 'studying' earth and understanding it to give themselves an earth-based authority. But it is incredibly rare as they have no starting point."

"So it works like a mix of luck - your innate authority - talent - for how fast you comprehend complex authorities - and hard work - how much work you're willing to put in."

"Really? So it just comes down to plain-old luck?" I asked in disbelief, as whilst it wasn't the hardest thing to believe; it certainly wasn't the way I was expecting for Asgardians to be given their authority.

"In a way, yes, but in a way no."

"Say what now?"

"It is based on luck, yes, but it also comes down to your personality. If you are say incredibly stubborn then there is a higher chance you will get an authority dealing with hard. For example, an authority based on steel, or some other kind of alloy."

"That… That actually makes a lot of sense." I spoke, feeling enlightened in a way. It almost made me feel like the main character of a cultivation novel. It made me feel like I had just reached enlightenment and had broken through the next level of the cultivation realm.

The more he spoke the more it started to make sense to me.

"So what's my authority?" I asked now ever so curious

"Well the easiest way to find out is to go and draw an Authority Circle," He replied

"An authority circle is something that is made from magic which detects which authority someone can awaken. As for how it works, well you don't need to know that yet. It is far too complicated for your puny brain my young cousin."

As he spoke he started to use some sort of magic that was currently beyond my understanding. When he was finished he gestured for me to step into a complicated circle.

As I stepped into the circle, two bright lights burst out nearly blinding me.

"Wow. It would seem lady luck has taken a liking to you, I have never seen anyone born with 2 innate authorities, and that too ones of such power, and magnitude. [Life] and [Light] are amazing authorities. It would seem as if you've truly hit the jackpot" He explained carefully.

As he finished his explanation, I was really amazed by my luck. I thought I was loved by the universe. Getting reincarnated as an Asgardian in the marvel verse, my favourite fictional universe.

Then learning I was being mentored by the god of war himself was quite a nice surprise.

And now finally this, my life truly was filled with wondrous surprises.

"Well, that concludes our lessons for today. I'll see you in a week's time, I hope you'll read more about authorities in the royal library in your free time."

"Aight, I'll try."

"Cya!" I yelled out as I simultaneously waved at Tyr as I was running out the huge doors.

"Goodbye."

Soon after the lesson ended, I headed towards my room to reflect and try to access my authorities, [Life] and [Light] damn talk about being op from the get-go. As long I wasn't a complete idiot and trained and explored my authorities I would be a powerhouse in the near future.

The End.
