"I saw a lot. It was overwhelming, actually. I liked meeting Pam and Godric. That was nice. I can tell Godric means a lot to you." I tell him.
"He does mean a lot to me." He says. "We have to go to the club today. Someone has been stealing from the Fangtasia accounts and I have to find out who. I have summoned Sookie to help with that."
"Alright," I say. I get out of bed and start to get ready to leave.
"Will Demetrius be coming with us?" Eric asks me.
"Yeah, he can if you would like." I tell him. Quickly getting changed. "We would just need to have water for him."
"I will make sure he has that." Eric tells me taking my hand as we walk down the stairs slowly. I lean on him for help still feeling pretty weak.
"How are you feeling, dear?" Adele asks me.
"I'm still not doing well. But Eric has stuff he needs to complete so Demetrius and I are going with him." I tell her as Demetrius trots after me.
We leave the house and get into his car. Dem hops on my lap and hangs out there. We drive to Fangtasia and head on in. Sookie and Bill enter after I sit down at one of the tables. They are holding hands how very cute. Dem is sitting at my feet. Eric has placed a bowl with water near by for him. Sookie sits at a cocktail table as Pam leans against the bar, her arms folded. Eric walks to her.
"Pam, Longshadow and I are partners in this club." Eric says. He circles Sookie as he walks. Bill is leaning against the bar on the opposite side of the wall from Pam. "And we recently noticed that sixty-thousand dollars has gone missing from our books. And Bruce..." He stops walking. Bruce, a bespectacled older Caucasian male is sitting across from Sookie at the cocktail table. He looks quite scared. "...is our accountant. Perhaps you can start by listening to him." Bruce is shaking terrified of what will happen to him.
"He's not saying anything." Sookie says.
"Don't be coy." Eric says. I look over and see Longshadow, behind the bar, passes his hand over the open flame of a cigarette lighter. "It's humbling enough to turn to a human for assistance. We know what you can do."
"And I know what you can do too. Why don't you just glamour him?" Sookie snarls.
"Now, don't you think we might have tried everything before summoning you?" Eric asks her. Sookie just stares at Eric. "So...it would be a great favor to me and to Mr. Compton if you help us."
"If I find out, who did it, then what?" Sookie questions.
"We'll turn that person over to police and let the authorities handle it from there." Longshadow finally adds something in.
"Hundreds of years old and you're still a terrible liar. Come on." Sookie says turning to face Longshadow as she talks to him. She turns back to face Eric. "I'll make you a deal: If you promise to hand over the person who did this to the police, I'll agree to help you any time you want."
"I won't allow that." Bill pipes in.
"All right. Why not?" Eric agrees ignoring Bill entirely.
It doesn't seem like anyone paid Bill any mind. Sookie grabs Bruce's hand and listens to his thoughts. I know Bruce didn't steal the money. He has a family to provide for. He was the one who brought it to Eric's attention. He thinks that anyone who steals from vampires are idiots.
"Bruce, it's okay. Take a deep breath. Did you steal their money?" Sookie says trying to calm him down to get a clearer read on his thoughts.
"No, no. You gotta believe me. I didn't do it. I swear to..." Bruce stumbles over trying to make sure we all believe him.
"Shhhh. Do you know who did?" Sookie tries to sooth further.
"No." Bruce tells her.
He doesn't think it is Ginger because she is too stupid. He does wish he knew who it was. Sookie looks up to Eric.
"He's tellin' the truth." Sookie tells Eric.
"You trust the skinny human to clear the fat one?" Longshadow asks Eric.
"Bring the next one in." Eric orders ignoring Longshadow.
He really wants to find out who this person stealing from him is and he wants to find them now. I pet Dem while thinking. Sure, I know what happens, but I do like to leave some stuff up to guess work. Like I don't know how he accomplished it. Ginger doesn't touch the books. I guess he has been skimming off the till every night. A look of relief falls over Bruce's face, and he cries. He plays with a wedding band that is visible on his left ring finger.
I continue to pet Dem while seeing them bring in the next person. I wonder how he got away with taking money for so long. you think that the books would have balanced till now. I wonder if he took it as a few big sums saying it was something it wasn't. He could have also taken 20$ a night that would add up as time goes on. He doesn't seem like the type to.
I wonder how Ginger is involved. Maybe Ginger spotted him taking the money and he had to glamour her not to say anything. That seems like a plausible idea. I do like to figure this stuff out. I see big events in the future. I sometimes don't get to see the little decision. It is always interesting to see that in person. It really does help add up to the big decisions that I see. Dem starts to hop up trying to get on my lap. I lean down and lift him up. He settles down in my lap rather quickly.
"You won't be able to sit on my lap for long lil guy." I quietly tell him. I look up and see Eric smiling at me. A few more employees come in. I ignore what's going on. I head over to Eric's throne and sit down. I feel like this is more comfortable. Dem jumps up and sits on it as well. Eric just looks at us and smile. Pam leads a blond woman holding a lit cigarette to Sookie.
"This is the last of our humans." Pam says clearly bored.
"Hmm. Yummy." Ginger says to Sookie. Pam seats Ginger and also puts out her cigarette.
"Ginger. This woman has some questions for you. Now, be a good girl and answer them, will you?" Eric says to her. Talking to her like she is a child. She must have something very wrong with her.
"Aye, aye, master." Ginger says. Ahh clearly, she has been glamoured a little too many times. I guess that is a hazard of working for vampires. Sookie reaches out for Ginger's hand, and Ginger takes her hand away. "Don't you touch me." Ginger tells her.
"Hold her still." Eric tells Pam. He looks over at me looking a little worried. I give him a small smile. He looks back at the table with Sookie and Ginger. Pam walks up behind Ginger and places her hands on Ginger's shoulders. Sookie takes Ginger's left hand into her right.
"Ginger, someone's been stealin' money from the bar." Sookie says trying the polite approach.
"Really? Huhn." Ginger says stupidly. She glares at Sookie. She does not seem to like Sookie in the slightest bit. Sookie looks up toward Eric and Pam. She must have found something interesting.
"She didn't do it... but she knows who did." Sookie tells them. Yes, she has been glamoured not to know though.
"What? you." Ginger threatens.
"Who? Who's gonna kill you? Ginger honey, what's his name?" Sookie tries to coax the answer out. Smoke rises from a burning cigarette. Ginger does not answer. "It's blank, like her memory's been erased." Sookie looks confused. I guess she has never read someone that has been glamoured. She really needs to use her power more. Ginger looks up toward Eric and Pam.
"I don't know anything, I swear." Ginger says looking scared.
"She's been glamoured." Pam announces.
"It's a vampire." Sookie says just figuring it out.
Yes, Sookie only vampires can glamour. Here we go. Time for the drama to begin. I bring my fingers to my temples and rub them. Longshadow jumps over the bar toward Sookie and exposes his fangs. Longshadow tries to strangle Sookie. Ginger is screaming. Before Longshadow could bite Sookie, Bill steaks him. Eric appears right in front of me right before Bill steaks him. He explodes spraying blood and guts everywhere. Ginger screams and vomits. I chose the right place to sit. I didn't get any blood anywhere. Pam just moved out of the way. I'm glad Eric tried to defend me.
"Ginger, enough." Pam orders sternly.
"Thank you." Eric says to Pam. Seeing that the screaming is destressing me. "Humans. Honestly, Bill, I don't know what you see in them." He comments. I glare at him.
"You will do well to remember that I am human." I spit at him quietly. I storm out of the club with Dem follow behind me. I go sit on the curb by the club. I feel him follow me. He sits beside me. "Isn't sitting on the ground above you." I spit at him.
"No, not if my mate is sitting on the ground beside me." He says. "I am sorry. The comment was meant to hurt Bill. You got hurt in the crossfire and that was not intended. I will endeavor to be more aware of what I say and how it could hurt you."
I look at him. "Thank you." He looks at me confused. "I didn't think you would come out here to apologize."
"Of course, I would. You are my mate. Not some random human. You were made for me in every way." He says looking me in the eyes. "I do have one question."
"I might not be able to answer, but I can try." I tell him.
"Did you know that it was Longshadow stealing? Did you know Bill was going to stake him?" He asks me.
"That's two questions." I chuckle. "I did know both. If I interfered, I would have died. So, I just got out of the way. I knew you would appreciate me being out of the way more. That way I was harder to get to if Bill decided to turn on me."
"Thank you." He says pulling my into his arms. "Thank you for making sure you didn't die. I just found you. I don't know what I would do if I lost you."
"Probably follow right after me." I say jokingly.
"Something I have learned in the past few days, is that I would follow you anywhere" he tells me. "We should head back in. I need to talk with Bill."
We both stand and head back in. I look around. I see Ginger is cleaning up the mess, but I don't see Sookie. She must be in the washroom cleaning herself up. I head over and help Ginger clean the floor.
"How did I end up with you people? Jesus. Mother Mary in heaven. I'm so sorry, Mama. I'm so sorry." I hear her muttering to herself.
"When Ginger is finished, glamour her for me." Eric tells Pam. He had moved to stand beside her.
"Are you sure? She's been glamoured one too many times already. Who knows how much of her is left." Pam says a little concerned. I know she must feel for her girls being a Madame back in her time.
"It's either that or turn her. You want her?" Eric says. I know he probably does want a childe.
"Please, I'm not that desperate. Glamour it is." Pam says with discuss.
"Excellent." Eric says. He turns to Bill. "Come. I'll buy you a Blood." He holds his hand out for me to take. I get up off my knees and take his hand. My hands have blood on them, but he doesn't seem to mind. He leads Bill and I to his office. Eric sits on his chair then pulls me onto his lap. He gives Bill and a bottle of Tru Blood as Bill sits across from us. Dem is still sitting by Ginger. He seemed to be helping her stay calm. He has that effect on people. He also knows when he is needed.
"Thank you." Bill says.
"How do you stomach that stuff? Don't you find it metallic and vile?" Eric asks.
"I don't think about it. It's sustenance, that's all." Bill replies. Eric laughs "What?"
"If you're their poster boy, the mainstreaming movement is in very deep trouble. Tru Blood. It keeps you alive, but it will bore you to death." Eric explains.
"Let's cut to the chase, shall we?" Bill says wanting to get to the point.
"You killed a vampire, Bill. For a human. What are we gonna do about this?" Eric asks him. He rubs my arms trying to sooth me. I know it's for the use of the word human. I know he doesn't want to insult me, but this is vampire business. I understand that.
"What do you have in mind?" Bill asks
"I'll take the girl." He says casually. My head whips around to face him in shock and question. I deflate. Of course, he wants Sookie.
"No. You can have anyone. You have your own human. Why do you want her?" Bill asks getting agitated. I then realize that Eric doesn't actually want Sookie to be his in that manor.
"Why do you want her? You're not in love with her, are you?" Eric asks surprised.
"Sookie must be protected." Bill says but explains nothing.
"That sounds like an edict. But it couldn't be because I would know about that. Admit it. You love her." Eric says thinking. I think it is an edict. There is no way what he says isn't.
"If I hadn't done what I did, would you have let his disloyalty stand?" Bill questions.
"Whatever I did to Longshadow, I would not have done in front of witnesses. Especially not vampire witnesses. Not smart, Bill. Not smart at all." Eric says. Bill leaves and storms out. "What do you think, Charlotte?" he turns me to face him straddling his lap.
"I think he is protecting her for a higher power. I think the higher power hired him to protect Sookie. Maybe for them, maybe for Sookie. I couldn't tell at the moment, but I would keep a closer eye on things. It might help reveal something you might have missed." I tell him cryptically.
"Do you know what is going on?" He asks me.
"I have a strong idea of what is going on. But I can't tell you everything I know. I told you what I could." I say.
"Thank you. I will take your advice and keep a closer eye on things." He says. "Do you know anything about Godric being missing?"
"I know lots of things. What I can tell you is that you will find him. you will need Sookie and my help. But you will find him. He is at a crossroads though." I tell him.
"Crossroads?" He asks confused.
"It means the future is undecided. There are too many decisions not made to decide what is ging to happen. So, it is a blank spot." I say.
"That's interesting. Has that happened before?" He asks curious.
"Yes, it's actually more common then not. Sometimes I won't notice the black spot cause it just skips over it. other times it's very noticeable. I would have to actually read him and not attempt to read him through you." I explain.
"You can read people through other people?" He asks shocked.
"Sometimes. I have to look for them and they have to be blood family. I also have to know who I am looking for. Like I can't look for some future baby's future that may or may not exist. It can be difficult to describe. The big thing is I have to actually look for it. I can't just touch someone and see their great grandfather's past. I looked for Godric's future when I was touching you. I can also choose if I want to see his future or past. I didn't want to look at his past." I say.
"Yes, I don't think I would want you to touch him. it might not do well for you." He says. "It is over 1,000 years longer then mine. So it would cause you more pain."
"Yes, I imagine it would." I say in a far away voice. I start to think about Godric meeting the sun. If I touch his hand before he meets the sun, he will hopefully bring him and I back inside to focus on heeling me. It will buy us more time. It will cause me a great amount of pain, but it will be worth it. I just want Eric to be happy. I also think Godric can be happy as well. I know he will find peace if he lives. I haven't gotten the chance to see it, but I feel it. I lay my head on Erics shoulder. He starts to work on some paperwork. I fall asleep against his shoulder. I dream about a future with Eric and Godric. I have heard of mates being shared before between childe and maker. But could Eric and Godric do it. if it meant mine and Godric's happiness, I could bet he would. He may not show it much, but he does love Godric and he will come to love me. I do have another birth mark on my spine. It is letter I believe. I never really bothered with it. What if it is Godric's name? Naw, it couldn't be.
