Chapter 1: The Fox and the Wolf
Of all the things to happen spraining my ankle wasn't on the list. After an hour I'd managed to hobble my way into a cave. My ankle was screaming in pain but now there was nothing I could do. I was in unfamiliar territory and I couldn't cry out lest I bring attention to myself. Once I'd taken a few minutes to inspect the cave for immediate danger I collapsed and shifted back to my human form. Rolling my pants up as gingerly as possible I took my shoe and sock off to inspect my ankle.
It was black and blue. Swollen and tender to the touch I hissed when I grazed my fingers over it. This wasn't good. I may not even have sprained it; I may have broken it.
I wasn't due back for another few days and I didn't have my phone on me. But being this far in the mountains I was sure there wouldn't be a signal anyway. It was supposed to be cool tonight but if I got to cold, I could just shift into my wolf form. Sighing I knew I needed a plan before someone found me.
Fortunately, or unfortunately I was found about thirty minutes later. He was a half breed. I'd never seen one before. He didn't smell like wolf either, he smelled like something else. I wasn't quite sure what it was. He was standing outside of the cave wide sapphire blue eyes staring at me. He took a step closer and when I didn't growl or try to attack him, he took another step forward.
His golden colored ears were flattened, and I finally noticed his bushy tail. The tail curled around him and he held it in his hands. It was large and tipped white at the bottom. He didn't say anything, but he looked terrified. He was nervously fidgeting with his tail and constantly looking behind him.
His pants were torn and so was his shirt as if he'd been walking through a briar patch. Turning to me he bit his lip and then kneeled in front of me. That was all I remember. I passed out from the pain after that. When I came to my ankle was still killing me but there was a makeshift bandage around it. The boy was sitting beside me, and I noticed that we were deeper in the cave with a small fire going. He looked so sad.
Reaching out I touched his arm. Startled he jumped up and fled to the mouth of the cave before turning back around. It was night out now. I wanted to tell him thank you but before I could say anything he was gone. With a sigh I tried to keep as close to the fire as I could without burning myself. My ankle was killing me and now my stomach was growling.
Sitting up as best I could I noticed that there was something cooking. There were fish that had been stabbed through with a stick. A canteen rested right next to my hand. Well at least I wouldn't starve tonight. I ate the four fish that were there and hunted around for more. I found a small pile of berries that I assumed he had picked and ate them as well.
Sleep didn't come easy for me that night. I was pretty sure at this point I had broken my ankle. My stomach was still growling when I finally drifted off. I slept horribly. Every sound woke me up and had me terrified that I was about to be found.
When morning came, I woke to someone petting my head. I hadn't realized I'd shifted back into wolf form. Looking up I noticed it was the boy from last night. He smiled at me and continued his petting. I rest in his lap until my stomach started growling.
Pressing a kiss to my fuzzy head he stood up and blushed. I gave him a wicked grin as he shook his hands and raced out of the cave. I was afraid he wouldn't return but an hour later he was back. He carried with him a small basket filled with all kinds of food.
It was filled almost to the brim with berries. There were a few fish thrown in as well which I tackled first. He seemed pleased with himself as he watched me eat. His tail curled around him, and he put it in his lap stroking through its lustrous fur. We hadn't spoken since he'd found me, and I felt as though I needed to at least give him my name.
Once I was done eating, I motioned with body for him to turn around. My ankle was still hurting so I had to be careful of that. Cocking his head to the side he gave me a quizzical look. I tried it again, but he just shrugged his shoulders and went back to stroking his tail.
If I shifted, I would be sitting naked in front of him. I wanted to speak to him before he left again and who knew how long I had. Quickly I shifted back to my human form and located my shirt. Slipping it on I looked up to see the boy blushing.
"Names Axel," I said reaching out a hand. "I wanted to properly thank you."
He stared at the hand before leaning in and sniffing it. Pulling away he went back to preening his tail again.
"Uh what's your name?" I asked.
"Roxas." He whispered.
His eyes grew wide and he shook his head. He was up in an instant and at the mouth of the cave before I could call out.
He was gone for the rest of the day. I tried to get up and hunt for myself later that night, but I couldn't do it. My ankle was getting worse. I barely slept that night. I'd forgotten to make a fire and Roxas hadn't made one before he left so, I slept in the cold too exhausted to shift to my wolf form.
Roxas returned the next morning with a noticeable limp. He was sporting a black eye and a split lip. He looked utterly defeated. Once he saw me, he whimpered and limped over as fast as he could. I noticed he was carrying a blanket with him which he draped over my naked legs. I'd tried getting my pants on, but I couldn't do it with my ankle hurting as bad as it did.
Reaching up to cup his face he leaned into the touch tears spilling down his cheeks.
"Hey," I croaked. "What's wrong? What happened to you? Who did this?"
Shaking his head, he lay down beside me and curled in my arms. We'd known each other for only a few days, and he was acting as if we were lovers. He cried in my embrace for a while. He was sobbing so hard he was shaking.
I ran my fingers through his hair and murmured soothing words. A wave of dizziness washed over me, and I was afraid I was going to pass out. My eyes closed and I drifted off while Roxas sobbed.
When I woke again my ankle was throbbing and Roxas was sitting in front of me legs tucked under him tail in his lap again. I needed medical help and quickly but every time I tried to move, I wanted to vomit.
"Roxas," I whispered. "I need you to do something for me. Can you do it?"
Nodding he watched me intently.
"Meeting place. I asked my friends to meet me in a place called the Pride Lands. I got turned around and lost my way there. Do you know where it is?" I asked.
He thought about this for a long while before nodding vigorously.
"Please go there. Meet my friends for me and bring them back here." I said.
Again, he nodded. He was halfway to the mouth of the cave before he shifted. Fox, he was a fox not a wolf. I'd never seen a fox before. I was getting sick and too weak to shift to keep myself warm. I pulled the blanket tightly around me and slept.
I felt light as air. Like someone was carrying me. I woke up sometime later with a cool washcloth on my forehead and my ankle resting on a few pillows with a new bandage. There was a golden colored fox curled up next to me sleeping. The walls of the room I was in were a sky blue. The sheets were gray and there was a nightstand next to the bed.
It took me a minute to realize I was in my bedroom. My laptop was on the nightstand, and my tv was sitting on my dresser.
"Hey you're awake." A voice called.
Turning as much as I could I saw Sora standing in the doorway holding a laundry basket.
"Your friend here came and got us. As soon as we started carrying you back, he followed us. How'd you make friends with a wild fox anyway?" He asked.
"He's not a wild fox. He's like us." I croaked.
Taking a step in the bedroom he lay the laundry basket down and came to sit on the bed beside Roxas. He never stirred.
"I'd always heard rumors about foxes, but I've never seen one up close before." He whispered. "How did you end up in their territory?"
"Wrong turn, then I almost stepped into a trap and would have gotten my damn leg chopped off but instead I rolled and fell on my ankle." I groaned.
"Zexion says you sprained it really bad. He wrapped it up for you and said to keep it elevated. You've also got a small cold to. He said to stay in bed until you feel better. Are you hungry? I can make you something to eat." He offered.
"Please I'm starving." I said. "Bring something for Roxas to if you don't mind."
"Sure thing. Let me put these clothes up first. I'll be back in a little bit." He said getting up and getting his basket.
Once he was gone, I looked over to Roxas who was sound asleep. I'd never touched his fur before, it looked so soft. I reached out my hand to run through the thick fur. He started stirring when I touched him. Wide blue eyes opened and stared at me.
Shifting to his human form he darted in my lap and curled up in my arms. He was quick like a fox. His thick tail was soft as he rested it on my arm. I noticed now that I was cupping his butt. Leaning in he pressed our noses together blue eyes searching my green ones. It was hard looking at him like this.
Quickly he pulled away and was back lips pressed against mine. They were gone before I could do anything else.
Sitting back ears straight up he listened intently before shifting back into a fox. Curling up beside me he closed his eyes just as Sora came back into the room. I had no idea what had just happened. I almost told Sora as he handed me a bowl of soup. Another one was set on the nightstand for Roxas. He also carried with him a cold compress which he gingerly wrapped around my ankle.
"You need to ice this for a little bit, it'll help with the swelling." He said.
It felt so good but after just a few short minutes it was painful. I was starving so I ate quickly. Sora left after making sure I was comfortable and closed the door behind him. Roxas stayed curled up for a few minutes before sitting up and shifting back to his human form. Crawling over me he reached for the bowl of soup. He ate his bowl within minutes and was in my lap trying to eat mine next.
I managed to avoid his advances for the first two or three bites. But when he turned in my lap and showed me his wide blue eyes, I had no choice but to give in. I was still hungry, so I called for Sora.
Roxas whimpered and shifted back into his fox form curling up and pretended to sleep. Sora was gone for thirty minutes. When he returned, he carried with him more soup and sandwiches.
"Are you afraid of my friends?" I asked once he turned back to human form and was happily eating.
He was still naked, and I tried not to let my eyes drift to far down. He didn't seem to mind being naked either as he wasn't rushing to cover himself. He ate most of the sandwiches and took another bowl of soup for himself. I ate quickly so I wouldn't have to ask Sora to make me food a third time.
He stared at me for a long while before shrugging. Besides the one time he'd told me his name he hadn't talked.
"Has anyone treated you for those wounds you've got?" I asked once I was done eating.
His eyes grew wide and he shook his head whimpering. His tail curled back in his lap and he started playing with the tip of it. A door closed somewhere in the house making him jump and turn towards the door. His back was exposed, and I wanted to vomit at what I saw. He looked as if he'd been whipped and now the wounds were infected.
It took me a minute to get my voice working.
"Zexion!" I cried startling Roxas.
Whipping around to face me he looked as if I'd betrayed him. Zexion and Riku came rushing in, stopping short when they saw the naked boy on my bed.
"Please help him." I said.
Roxas turned back and forth from me to the doorway. Roxas put up a hell of a fight. He shifted quickly into his fox form and darted towards the door. Riku was quick to reach down and pick him up wrapping a hand around his muzzle.
"Don't hurt him!" I cried.
"I'm not going to hurt him but I'm not going to risk him biting me either." Riku growled.
"Let's go next door I've got all my equipment there." Zexion said.
Roxas doubled his efforts after that. He was clearly scared out of his mind, but no one seemed to care.
"Put him down! He's terrified put him down!" I shouted realizing how bad of an idea this really was.
Roxas managed to scratch Riku's arm forcing Riku to drop him. He scrambled away and back into the bedroom turning human and launching himself in my arms. My ankle exploded with pain and I cried out holding Roxas tightly.
He started crying after that. With the mass of fur, I couldn't believe I hadn't seen the wounds on his back. He was shaking and no amount of coaxing would get him away from me.
"You're scaring him back away! Everyone back away!" Sora growled pushing his Mate and Zexion out of the way.
Slamming the door in their faces he stood in front of the door and adopted a smile.
"Hey Roxas, my name is Sora and I'm one of Axel's friends. You were the one who showed us where he was. He's on the mend now thanks to you but you need to be looked at as well. You're extremely hurt, and your back is infected. My friend Zexion needs to look at it. We won't ask any questions ok? We just want to help." Sora explained.
Pulling back, he looked to me ears flattening against his head.
"Do you want me to come with you?" I asked.
He nodded whimpering and clutching my shirt tightly. With Sora's help I managed to get on my feet. Wrapping an arm around his neck he helped me hobble to the door with Roxas sticking close to me.
"Come on next door," He growled brushing past the two men.
Riku wrapped my other arm around his neck and helped move us along. I made sure Roxas was close often turning my head to make sure he hadn't darted off. He followed swiftly behind making sure to give Zexion a wide berth.
The air was cool as we stepped outside and headed next door to Zexion's clinic. Demyx was sitting behind a small desk arms crossed and head on his arms. He was fast asleep as always.
We were ushered to the back into one of the many unoccupied rooms. Someone had gotten Roxas to at least wear a shirt I noticed as he climbed on the bed for patients. Sora and Riku were ushered out of the room after they helped get me settled on one of the chairs. The door closed, Roxas stared at me terror written on his face.
"It's ok, everything will be ok." I soothed taking his hand.
He nodded and squeezed my hand tightly as he could. Zexion had him rid his shirt next so that he could look at his back.
"We'll have to clean this and then I'm going to get him started on antibiotics for the infection. We'll bandage your back and you'll need to change it every day alright." Zexion said.
Roxas stared at him before looking to me. I nodded and he turned back to Zexion and did the same.
He didn't make a sound as Zexion cleaned the wounds and it had to have hurt. Once they were dressed and the pills given, he turned to me waiting. I helped him back in his shirt and took him back to my house where he promptly fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.
"Where did you find him?" Sora asked nervously playing with his cinnamon colored hair.
We were in the living room talking silently so as not to wake Roxas. I was taking up most of the couch while Sora and Riku took the love seat. Zexion was sitting on the floor back against the couch where I was resting.
"Almost stepped in a bear trap and twisted my ankle. I just started crawling until I found a cave. He was the one who found me." I explained.
"Can't believe foxes are real. My dad always said they were. I thought they were a myth," Sora turned to Riku. "And you said my dad's stories were full of hot air! Goes to show you!"
"Yeah, yeah sorry ok? He's taken a liking to you." Riku said.
"I've noticed he looks to you for confirmation." Zexion said.
"Yeah I don't know why. We barely know each other." I said.
Roxas came around the corner then ears lowered and holding his tail. Surprisingly he was wearing a shirt. It was long on him coming down past his thighs. He didn't look at anyone else in the room, just at me.
He looked sad. Whimpering he took a step forward and then another until he was crawling in my lap. Fuzzy ears tickled my chin as he tried to get as close to me as possible.
"Savior," Sora murmured.
Stopping his movements, he turned to Sora and nodded. I hadn't realized his hands had been moving. Now they were moving rapid fire.
"He says you were the one who saved him. He's been trying to thank you this whole time. He says his life is yours and do with it what you wish." Sora explained.
"How do you know what he's saying?" I asked.
"I took sign language seriously in high school unlike you two!" He cried. "You guys just goofed off for the entire class!"
I looked down at Roxas who gave me a bright smile. He'd been staring at me for a while now as if waiting for my next order.
"You can talk," I whispered running a hand through his hair. "Why don't you?"
Wrapping his arms around my neck he pulled himself close and kissed me. I was caught completely off guard and so was everyone else in the room. After he'd pulled away from the kiss, he shook his head. His hands started going a mile a minute and I couldn't understand what he was saying.
Coaxing him to turn around he began his spiel again with Sora translating.
"He says he stopped talking when his mother and sister died, no they were murdered. He hasn't spoken for years. He didn't even realize he could still speak when he told you his name." Sora responded.
"Your mom and sister, what happened?" I asked.
"Father murdered them when I was five. I was forced to watch. I was so upset I just stopped talking. He says I'm not a man, that I'm just a boy still and he must beat the man out of me. He's been trying to get me to talk for years and I won't. The day I met you I prayed to mama before I left. I told her I'd had enough, and I was ready to join her and my sister. I said if she wanted me alive, she'd have to send someone to stop me. You were the one who stopped me, mama sent you to me and I'll forever be indebted to you." Sora translated.
"I don't want you to be indebted to me." I said turning him to cup his face. "Hey, we'll get this sorted out alright. Stay with us for a while. We can help you."
He gave me another bright smile and nodded. He was tired. His eyes were drooping, and his sign language was getting harder to read. We'd only been sitting out in the living room for maybe twenty minutes before he'd joined us.
"Go back to sleep." I whispered. "We'll be here when you wake up."
Nodding he curled up in my arms and fell asleep. It wasn't what I'd had in mind. He was light as a feather as I wrapped my arms around him and stood up. Zexion followed closely behind pulling the covers back so I could lay him on my bed.
"He's been tortured. Who would do that to someone? I'm surprised he's as calm as he is. We should see if he'll be willing to see someone. He'll only get worse from here." Zexion explained as we made our way out of the room.
"Not right now. Let him get settled first. Right now, I'm the only one he trusts, and I don't want to break that." I said closing the door softly behind me.
"Alright. But if you change your mind, I can talk to Aerith and see if she'll be willing to take him on as a patient." Zexion responded.
He was right. I knew he was. Roxas slept for about two hours. When he found me Zexion, Riku and Sora had left to go back to their own homes. I was in the kitchen debating on what I wanted to make for dinner. I felt arms wind around my waist and a face buried in my back.
When I turned to see him better, I noticed he had tear tracks. He buried his face back in my shirt. I held him tightly not sure what else to do. I couldn't understand him even if he tried talking to me. Scooping him up in my arms I carried him to the couch and sat down. He wept in my shirt while I rubbed his back and whispered soothingly to him.
I didn't know what else to do. He clung to me tightly. He calmed down after a while and then his hands were moving again. I couldn't understand him. I didn't want to call Sora back over to be my personal translator he had a life to.
Roxas hands stopped moving once he realized I couldn't understand him. His ears were flat against his head and his tail was hanging limply behind him.
"You had a bad dream." I guessed.
He nodded.
"Was it about your family?" I asked.
He perked up and nodded again.
"Was it the murder? Do you still dream about it?" I questioned.
Another nod. His hands were slow as he took his hand and started moving it. His fingers were closed around something imaginary and he was making a writing motion. Paper, he wanted pen and paper.
Sitting him on the couch I got up thankful I had a small whiteboard on my refrigerator. My mom had gotten it for me saying it would help me remember to put my grocery list down. So far all it had done was sit there until Sora came over and drew something else on it. This time it was picture of a dragon. I erased it with no qualms and brought the board and marker to Roxas.
He seemed happy to just have the board. He hugged it tightly but didn't write on it. Maybe just having it was enough for him. I told him that I was going to go make dinner and went to turn the tv on for him.
He freaked out. Once he saw the flat screen sitting on my entertainment center he hissed. Below the shelf that my tv was sitting on was another shelf with my gaming consoles and remote. There was nothing of interest there. He hid behind the couch and I heard the squeaking of the marker against the board. He held it up so that I could only see his arms and the board.
What is that? Was written on it.
"It's a tv. Surely you've seen one before?" I asked coming around the couch to sit beside him.
He shook his head. Where had he lived his whole life, a cave? I forgot about dinner. Instead I went around showing him all my electronic devices, starting with my phone. I thought he was going to have a heart attack when I showed him my laptop. His eyes were wide, and he started whimpering when I turned it on.
"It's alright! It's alright here look its off now." I soothed turning the laptop off.
He visibly relaxed.
"You've never seen any of this before?" I asked.
Again, he shook his head.
"But what about all that medical equipment you saw next door? You didn't freak out then." I said.
Erasing the last thing he wrote he scribbled away showing me his answer when he was done.
I'm used to being at the doctors. I'm always getting patched up for something. It read.
I hated this. I hated whoever had done this to him. He smiled up at me holding the whiteboard to his chest.
How old was he? To have gone through so much and still be able to smile. I envied him. After I showed him all the electronics, I could think of we went back to the kitchen. Nothing was unfamiliar there. He'd never cooked before so everything I did was fascinating to him. It wasn't like I was cooking a complicated dish it was just lasagna.
He ate like a mad man then went back for seconds. He curled up in bed with me that night. So, we talked.
"How old are you?" I asked.
Eighteen today. I was supposed to be taking a Mate tomorrow. She's a wolf from another pack. Father wanted a strong alliance with this pack. Father said they were willing to see past what a fuck up I am.
Tears welled up in his eyes. It wasn't just his father who thought this, he did to. Something didn't set right with me. He was a fox about to mate a wolf. That didn't make sense. So, I asked him.
I live with wolves. Momma was the only fox. Father captured her and made her his. But she couldn't have children with him. Foxes aren't always monogamous, so she got pregnant by another fox. Father never said she couldn't. She did the same with my sister. She was trying to keep him happy. But after my sister was born and he realized she was a fox to he killed them in a fit of anger. He hates me, he's always hated me, and he's always made sure that I know. But he's getting older and he wants an Alpha to take over. Beatings were frequent in my home. He's tried to kill me more than once. When I was younger, he used to use me as bait with the other wolves. They were to train on me. They ripped my hair out, bit and scratched me. But I knew that if I mated with the wolf, he wanted me to, she would kill me and take over. He sighed after he'd finished writing.
The board was so small he had to erase what he'd wrote and then start again. It took about twenty minutes before he was done erasing and writing.
"You're not a fuck up! Roxas if wasn't for you I'd probably be dead in that cave! You took me in and fed me and wrapped my ankle. You kept me warm by building me a fire because I couldn't do it!" I cried cupping his face.
He leaned into the touch closing his eyes and nuzzling my hands.
My ankle was still hurting but the ice pack I'd been trying to keep on it had helped. If I hobbled around and didn't put much weight on it, I was fine.
Eyes opening, he leaned up and kissed me pushing me back down on the bed. Crawling on top of me he straddled my hips and tried deepening the kiss. I hadn't known him long at all and he was already trying to make out with me. Was this a fox's way of saying thank you?
I'd be lying if I said I didn't kiss him back. Threading my fingers through his mass of spikes my hands came across his ears. They were so soft. At some point during our make out session he lost his shirt. Flipping us over I continued the kiss. Roxas tugged at my shirt until I finally took it off. His eyes took in everything. His lips tackled my neck next kissing and sucking on spots until he was leaving marks.
He smelled sweet. It was driving me crazy. How had I not noticed that sweet smell before? My hands traveled down until I was brushing against his cock. It was hard and slick as I started to stroke it.
He whimpered, sweet noises finally escaping his kissed bruised lips. His hips started moving as his lips searched for mine again. He latched on tongue coming out to dance with mine. Even his kisses were sweet. I couldn't get enough.
I had to pull away after a few moments to discard my pants and search in the bedside drawer for lube. Popping the cap, I squirted a generous amount of lube on my fingers and felt for the fox's entrance. He squirmed at first not used to the digits but relaxed when my fingers brushed his prostate. After getting him used to two digits I pushed in three. Deeming him ready I pulled away and lubed my cock.
Being careful of my ankle I spread his tan legs and began pushing myself in. He was tight. I waited for him to adjust and when he nodded, I started slow. The first time I hit his prostate his eyes went wide, and he began to move his hips with the rhythm. Leaning over I pressed our lips together. His arms wrapped around my neck and his legs around my waist.
I was tired of going slow, so I sped up and when there was no complaint I continued. Roxas lips never left mine. His body rocked in time with mine and we kissed until we were breathless. His arms tightened and he let out a moan before cum started to spurt out. With a few more thrusts I followed behind him breaking our kiss and biting his tender neck. He moaned tightening his grip and holding me in place.
I slipped out of him and caressed his cheek. His eyes followed my movements as I got off the bed and limped to the bathroom that was connected to my bedroom. Getting a wash rag, I wet it and came back to Roxas. He watched me intently as I crawled back on the bed to wipe his stomach. He made it very hard as he captured my lips and brought me back down to him.
He curled up in my arms after I'd wiped him down and thrown the washcloth on the floor. After turning the lights off I kissed his forehead and listened to him breathe. After he was sound asleep, I kissed his forehead and followed suit.
I was up bright and early making breakfast by the time Roxas roused. He came into the kitchen wiping bleary eyes. He was naked and I made a mental note to go get some clothes after we ate.
"Everyone will be over today I'm sure. Would you mind putting a shirt on?" I asked getting the plates out.
When I turned around, he was gone. After I'd set the table, he returned wearing one of my shirts. He looked good in it. Everything was ready to eat when he came back.
His tail swished as he ate savoring every bite. I was right Zexion, Sora and Riku showed up just as we'd finished eating and were washing the dishes. When I turned to greet them Zexion and Riku were sniffing the air.
"What'd you do?" Riku asked.
"What do you mean what did I do?" I questioned handing Roxas a plate to dry off.
"Why does Roxas smell like you?" Zexion hissed.
I turned bright red. Everyone but Sora let out collective sighs. He was busy signing to Roxas.
"Come on Axel! You've known him what maybe a week max and you're already sleeping with him?" Riku cried.
"Can you smell that?" I asked.
Riku and Zexion looked at me like I was crazy. Before they could start in on me again Sora and Roxas turned back to us.
"He's in heat you idiots." Sora growled.
Roxas nodded concern on his face.
"I didn't realize males could go into heat." Zexion said.
"From what limited information Roxas remembers from his mother all foxes go into heat. He said she used to live with some foxes before she was kidnapped by his father." Sora explained.
"Foxes don't normally have packs though." Zexion responded.
"He's adamant his mother was in one. He said when they started getting kidnapped, they grouped up and began living together. He thinks it was his father the whole time. Anyway, not the point, he's in heat and they had sex. There's nothing you can do." Sora said.
Roxas face was red as he turned and waited for me to hand him more dishes. I quickly washed the last few dishes and stormed to the bedroom. Roxas followed swiftly behind taking my hand when I'd finally stopped. Wrapping my arms around his waist I leaned down and kissed him.
"I'm not mad at you." I whispered.
He smelled so good. The closer I got to him the better he smelled. I had a hard time getting to the closet to get a change of clothes. We were both being driven by our hormones. He backed me up until my legs hit the bed. Sitting down Roxas sat in my lap and continued the kiss.
"Oh, come on you two! Here I am taking up for you guys out here and you're in here making out!" Sora cried.
At some point I'd lost my shirt again and my hands were up Roxas shirt running the pads of my fingers against his nipples. I was lying down with Roxas on top of me. He squeaked when he heard Sora and rolled off me.
My brain felt fuzzy, like it was full of cotton and I couldn't get that damn smell off me. I wanted Roxas more than I'd ever wanted someone before. I wanted to stay in bed all day and mark his pretty skin. I wanted to bury myself in him and make him mine over and over. I hated feeling like this. It didn't feel like me. I didn't feel like me. If Sora wasn't there I would have closed and locked the door and took Roxas. His thoughts seemed to be on the same thing as he stared at me hungrily.
Sora waited as I changed and found something for Roxas to wear as well. When I couldn't find anything, Sora sent Riku to their house to find him a pair of pants. He came back about ten minutes later with a pair of pants. He was able to hide his tail in the pants, but his ears were another matter. They flicked back and forth as if taunting us.
"They might just think he's a weird cosplayer." Sora said watching Roxas ears twitch.
I headed back to the closet and found an old black beanie I used to wear. Bringing it out I showed it Roxas. He shook his head reaching up to touch his ears.
"Ok weird cosplayer it is." I said throwing the hat back into the closet. "But Rox if you don't wear the hat minimal movements on the ears. Most people won't understand your ears ok?"
Biting his lip, he went back to the closet and grabbed the hat. Putting it on he took my hand and we made our way back to the living room. Sora took Roxas to the bathroom next to help him cover the bruises around his eyes.
Sora and Riku accompanied us to the mall. It was probably the right call as Roxas all but had a panic attack in the store. We were currently in the family bathroom with Roxas sitting on the dirty floor his hands on his ears. He would take them away for a few seconds and sign to Sora before returning them back to his ears.
"He says it's too loud. His ears are super sensitive everything we hear; he hears at max volume." Sora translated.
"Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. Let's go home guys we'll order some clothes online or something." I suggested.
Roxas eyes were closed and he was rocking back and forth now whimpering. The mall was packed with people. I'd forgotten it was getting close to Christmas so there were tons of sales going on, so it was busier than normal. Helping him up I wrapped my arms around his waist. Sora and Riku were our bodyguards as we made our way out of the mall.
Once we were home, I brought out my laptop and started pulling up websites. Roxas eyes were wide as we browsed around. He pointed to various shirts and pants that he liked. Sora had gone home to find a few clothes for Roxas to wear that he hadn't worn in a while. When he returned, he had with him two shirts and a pair of pants.
Roxas tried them on while Sora fetched a pair of scissors to cut a hole. He sighed when his tail popped through and wiggled it around. His hands started moving and I recognized what he said. It was probably the only thing I'd learned in class. Thank you.
We finally settled on a few shirts and pants along with some underwear. I chose expedited shipping so that we could get them faster. After closing the laptop, Sora and Roxas lounged on the couch and watched tv. Since I worked from home, I was able to be with Roxas as he settled in. Riku and I headed to my bedroom to talk. I could still smell Roxas, he smelled so sweet.
"What's up?" I asked.
"There's something your hiding. What is it?" He asked eyebrows raised.
If there was anyone who knew when people were hiding something it was Riku. I swore that man could smell bullshit a smile away.
"He was supposed to be mated off to someone. Yesterday was his birthday. He said she would have killed him because he wouldn't be able to impregnant her. She would take over as Alpha. His father has tried to kill him and even used him as bait when he was little. Riku I would have never done that to him if he wasn't in heat. I know it's not a good excuse. He kissed me and we just progressed from there." I said.
Sighing Riku put his head in his hands. "I understand." He said. I knew he was thinking back to the day that he and Sora had met. Kairi had been after Riku for years. When Sora had finally settled in our Pack, he and Riku became close extremely fast. They'd met a month after Sora had settled in. Within a week they were Mated. It didn't surprise me though. Sora was good for him. Riku was quiet and often people feared him, but Sora really balanced him out with his sunny disposition.
We joined our Mates after a little while to watch tv. Sora and Riku left before I started to make dinner. As soon as the door closed Roxas crawled into my lap and brought me in for a kiss. I'd noticed how intoxicating his scent was and I'd been having a hard time keeping my hands to myself.
Now that everyone was gone, we could do what we wanted. I would have loved to carry him to the bedroom, but my ankle was still tender, and his back was still bothering him from last night. We just kissed instead. When his stomach started to growl, I pulled away and told him I was going to start dinner.
After we'd eaten and were relaxing in my room, I looked at his back. It was still bad, but it looked better than it had yesterday. As we lay in bed, I ran my fingers through Roxas mane of spikes.
"I wish you would talk to me." I whispered.
Leaning in he nuzzled my hand leaving kisses on it.
I got a call later that night from Zexion. Roxas was lying on my stomach fast asleep as I watched a movie on my laptop.
"Everything alright?" I asked.
"Yeah your mom called. Said she's been having a hard time trying to get in touch with you. She wants to see you tomorrow." Zexion said.
I'd forgotten about my phone sine I'd gotten home. I was more worried about helping Roxas settle in. It had been sitting on the kitchen table for the past day or so now. I'd just moved it recently to the bedroom.
"Alright I'll let her know that I'm coming. Did she say what time?" I asked.
"As soon as you can." He responded.
Wishing him a good night I hung up and continued my movie. My mother was Alpha of our Pack. She and my dad had gotten together and when she didn't relinquish our Pack to him, he bailed. Mom had never gone to find anyone else. She did contact my dad when she found out she was pregnant, but he said he'd only come back if he was Alpha. She raised me with the help of our Pack. I had plenty of role models in my life and I grew up with a lot of friends as well.
I knew if I explained Roxas' situation that she would understand. I knew she wouldn't turn him away and she would allow him sanctuary here. Roxas stirred but once I resumed running my fingers through his hair he settled down.
I fell asleep about two in the morning. I was too busy worrying about my meeting tomorrow to sleep. I'd just closed my eyes and curled up close to Roxas when he started thrashing. I was slapped in the face and then my bad leg was kicked. Howling in pain I rolled away as Roxas started to scream. I wanted to wake him, but I remembered what my mother had done for me when I had night terrors. Rolling off the bed I limped to the door and felt around the wall for the light switch.
After turning it on I got back in the bed a safe distance away from my mate and waited. I talked to him as he cried out hoping he would rouse soon. My heart ached for him. Is this how helpless my mother felt when I was having night terrors? As soon as he started to cry out my name I reached over and touched him.
I knew I shouldn't, but I wanted to let him know somehow that I was there. It lasted for about five minutes. When he finally woke there were tear tracks streaking his cheeks. He looked confused when he saw me sitting at the edge of the bed.
"Hey Roxy," I whispered reaching my arms out. "You were dreaming. Do you remember what you dreamed about?"
Nodding he crawled forward and collapsed in my arms sobbing. Once he'd calmed down enough, we lay back in bed. I held him tightly until he was so exhausted, he fell back asleep. I didn't get a chance to tell him about seeing my mother so when I woke up the next morning, I left a note on my side of the bed. He smelled delicious so before I left, I leaned down to kiss his cheek.
I smelled bacon as soon as I walked into my mother's house. It was the farthest home in the village sitting by itself. Three children raced past me giggling as I headed to the kitchen. My mom fed anyone who came over. Hayner, Pence and Olette were always over at my mom's house. She gave them sea salt ice cream every day after school if they'd done well. They were sweet first graders who adored my mom.
I heard the door close as I entered the kitchen. There was a plate filled with bacon and toast. My mother was at the stove making pancakes.
"Good morning Axel." She said turning to greet me.
"Mom," I said coming to give her a hug.
She was tall, but shorter than me with brown hair that was almost always braided and green eyes like mine. She was wearing a simple pink dress and barefoot. She kissed my cheek before pulling away to flip the pancakes.
"What's going on?" She asked after the pancakes were done and we had sat down to eat.
"Do you mean about Roxas the fox I'm sorta mated to now?" I asked.
"Yes, exactly that." She said.
I told her everything. How I twisted my ankle and how Roxas had found me lying inside a cave. He'd taken care of me for a few days before I'd gotten worse and went to meet up with my friends. I told her about his father and the abuse he'd been subjected to.
We ate in silence after I'd explained everything to her. I was nervous, my hands shaking after she'd cleared the plates away.
"So, you decided mating with him was a good idea?" She asked.
"He's in heat mom. I didn't realize foxes went through heat. We were both vulnerable, but I don't regret it." I said.
"Do you trust him?" She asked.
"Yes." I answered.
"Do you love him?" She questioned taking my hand in hers.
"I'm falling for him already." I said.
Leaning in she kissed my forehead and patted my hand.
"Ok that's all I need to know then." She responded.
I helped her with the dishes and afterwards we sat back down at the table in the kitchen to chat
