In the '80s, Luke, Resus, Cleo and I (Saffron) lived by the lake in a small house with our parents. Despite how simple it was, we loved our lives here. We'd go fishing in a little paddle boat every weekend and hope to catch the 'big one' for our supper. We'd hide away amongst the berry bushes and make them our own personal hideout. Best of all, Luke, Resus and Cleo played with me every day. I had three toys that I played with most when I had free time: there was Tickle Socks, a small pastel pink toy pony with tiny orange-and-red knitted socks Mrs. Watson knitted herself, and multiple strawberries as a Cutie Mark. She had a fragrant baby powder scent that never wore off, especially if you play in the bath with her. Next there was Sugar Heart. She was a pinkish-red pudgy teddy. Her belly had a picture of a few candies and chocolates on it, and she gave off the sweet scent of strawberry bubble gum. Like Tickle Socks' scent, it never wore off. Finally, there's Scrubs, a pooch you can play with in the bath. I like to call him 'Scrubs The Pooch'. He had a cream plastic body with fuzzy brown ears and brown patches, and he came with a red bone-shaped sponge. Sometimes he got filled up with water so I was told to leave him on the side of the bath until all the water is squeezed out of him. I played with Tickle Socks and Sugar Heart while this happened. But what was going to happen in this story was the time I went to a caravan site with my Aunt F and my cousin Six.
"Isn't it amazing?" I asked Cleo as I packed Tickle Socks and Sugar Heart into my Care Bears sleeping bag along with all my clothes and essentials, "A holiday at a caravan site. It'll be like going on a real adventure!" "It won't be as exciting as the ones with have here at home," said Cleo. "It will! Trust me, you'll love it!" I laughed. "I heard that Crackers will be going on holiday too, and his little brother Cheese." said Luke. "What? The boy who's always sketching superheroes?" I asked. "Yep. The one." said Luke. Crackers is one of Luke's friends from school. He's always drawing himself and his little brother Cheese as superheroes, and is an avid comic book collector. Crackers has dark gold fur, while Cheese, being 8 while his brother was 13, had light yellow fur. Crackers likes to call his superhero alter-ego Crackerman, while he calls his little brother's superhero counterpart Cheeseboy. Cheese dresses up as a superhero anyway and calls himself a different name - The Wondrous Cheesy. He likes to pretend to fly around rescuing his toys from the topmost branches of the tree in the garden.
"You know Crackers - he always has his head in his sketchbook. He'll even sketch when it's Summer!" said Cleo. "What makes you want to believe that the two brothers are fond of superheroes?" asked Resus, "They should work for Marvel someday." "And someday, Marvel will bring an '80s throwback," I muttered with gritted teeth. "Kids! Hurry up!" called my Mum's voice from downstairs, "We'll miss our bus!"
We finished packing, and rushed to join our parents at the bus stop outside the forest.
I'll continue with this story someday soon. See you then!
