== A Challenging Goal ==

The next morning, Pahili found out that there were in fact more than one kindred spirit on the island as Ke'ala introduced him to several others who called the island once thought to be barren as home. After watching their parents being slain for possessing the spirit of a kiapolo, each of them fled their home island and found themselves here. Not wanting to expose themselves as also being kiapolo, the refugees remained on the island, even though they themselves did not exhibit magical powers.

Or so everyone thought.

Upon meeting Pahili and with his encouragement, Ke'ala was delighted to find out that every other person she'd shared the island with also wielded the same magical powers that she and Pahili did. It would take time for their full potential to be realized, but just the knowledge and awareness of their potential magical prowess was enough to cause a sense of almost impatient excitement amongst the group.

Pahili also found himself to be quite relieved that Ke'ala had told him the truth about there being more magical creatures on the island as he recognized some of them immediately, though none appeared quite the same as those he'd remembered encountering back in Great Britain. They were also known by different names, in Hawaiian of course. The house elves were known as menehune here while the pixie-like inhabitants were also called menehune, which both made sense and confused Pahili, but he thought better of it and kept that to himself.

Harvesting the parts needed from these magical creatures, Pahili began fashioning new wands for each member of the group, using dragon's heartstring as well as menehune hair, both types. With permission from Kamehameha, Pahili returned to Kaho'olawe with some koa wood which he used for the wands themselves. He was glad the king asked no questions because Pahili didn't want to have to lie to Kamehameha, though he was more than willing if it came to that in order to protect his fellow witches and wizards. The wood worked wonderfully and responded to their inner cores without much trouble, much to the relief and delight of both Pahili and the other inhabitants of Kaho'olawe. It wasn't long before everyone in Kaho'olawe possessed their own magical weapon, a wand created by the Hogwarts alumnus.

"We should build a school here," Ke'ala suggested one day. In truth, Pahili had actually also been considering doing this, especially since the other island residents turned out to be rather gifted students and learned rather quickly. It wasn't very long before PAhili found himself teaching them fourth and fifth year-level magic and it had only been three months since Pahili first set foot on the island. Though he had never formally taught at Hogwarts, Pahili quickly adapted a method of teaching that both worked and kept his first pupils interested in learning. Interpreting Pahili's hesitation as doubt, Ke'ala quickly added, "We don't have to do it immediately!"

"Wha... oh, no. No, I agree and want to build a school. I'd been thinking about it for quite some time, actually!" Pahili confessed, eliciting a broad and happy smile from Ke'ala. "How do we go about doing this?"

The answer had been simple, though being able to execute such an answer without arousing suspicion proved to be a tad more difficult. Being one of Kamehameha's most trusted advisors, he himself went to the king to request that a shipload of koa wood be placed under his own command to assist with rebuilding efforts on one of the islands. Naturally, Pahili failed to mention just which island needed the wood, nor was the question even asked.

"Will you need men to assist with the delivery, Pahili?" the king had asked. Pahili immediately declined, not wanting to have to use memory charms in order to keep what he and Ke'ala planned to do a complete secret.

"I have people waiting to assist, my king," Pahili answered truthfully. The king nodded.

"Very well then," the king replied, waving his trusted advisor off.

"That seemed a lot easier than I thought it would be..." Ke'ala whispered as she and Pahili headed towards the designated ship docked at Kealakekua Bay. They returned to Kaho'olawe just as the sun reached high noon. The inhabitants that remained behind came running to lend a hand at the sight of the arriving ship. Using his own magical knowledge to reinforce the concealment charms already in place, Pahili ensured that any who found their way to the island now would see naught but a barren and dry land before them.

Working diligently almost from sunrise until the sun set beyond the horizon, a structure made entirely of thatched coconut weaving and koa wood was erected within a week as Pahili taught his companions how to use their magical power to build Hawai'i's new wizarding school from the ground up. The sheer size of the finished structure rivaled that of the royal residence that Kamehameha called home and Pahili was grateful that he'd managed to master the intricate details of concealment charms. Though Pahili was one of Kamehameha's most trusted advisors, the king would indeed take offense to a structure that size and that was not something the aging wizard wanted to deal with. As the current residents of Kaho'olawe gathered around the beginning of their wizarding academy built upon the summit of the extinct shield volcano on the island, Pahili declared its name to all around him:

Hale Ho'okalakupua 'O Pu'u Moaulanui, the Wizarding Academy of Mount Moaulanui, so named for the volcano which the academy was erected on.
