A Paige from the Past
Police station
Cole was sitting on the bench stuck in between a biker guy with about twelve earrings on his face, and two toothless, dirty homeless men. Cole wasn't impressed. Darryl walked over to him.
Cole looked at him, "Is this the way you treat every driver with a busted headlight?" He asked.
Darryl nodded, "No, just the ones without ID." He returned. "Now, I convinced Lopez not to sight you. But no more driving without a license." He said.
"Am I free to go?" Cole asked.
Darryl nodded, "Yeah." He said.
Cole got up, "Finally." He muttered.
Darryl looked at him, "Finally?" He repeated.
Cole looked at him, "I mean thanks." He corrected.
"Finally?" Darryl asked again. "You think I need this? You see this assignment board?" He asked and pointed to it. "It's full of cases. Open cases that Andy and I should be working on, instead I'm cleaning after your mess."
Cole said, "Hey, I don't like it either."
Darryl looked at him, "It's bad enough I have to clean up after the suspects..." he said.
Cole said, "I'm just trying to fit in but I have no ID, no job."
They talked over the top of each other, "Doesn't anyone ever say thank you?" He asked.
Cole said, "I can't even go to the grocery store without even getting arrested."
Cole and Darryl at the same time finished their sentence, "It just sucks!" They stopped and stared at each other.
Cole looked at him after a moment of silence, "You good?" He asked.
Darryl nodded, "Yeah."
Cole said, "Me too."
Darryl said, "Okay."
Piper, Michael and Paige walked in and went over to Darryl and Cole, "Oh my god, Cole. How's my car?" She asked.
Michael chuckled and Paige tried to hide her smirk. Cole gave her a weird look, "It's fine," He answered.
Piper looked at him with dangerous eyes, "That was the first and last time you borrow my car. Got it? Good. Let's go." She said and they all walked out of the station.
Outside
Piper, Michael, Paige and Cole walked outside, "Being human was supposed to make my life easier, instead it's getting worse by the minute."
Piper nodded, "Yeah, I know the feeling." She said.
Michael made a look of sympathy, "I'm sorry about that Cole," He stated.
Cole looked at him with a weird look, "It's not your fault," He said.
"Well, Phoebe thinks otherwise," Michael returned. "She blames me for you losing your powers just as she blames me for you killing a witch," He said.
Piper put an arm around him, "Oh sweetie, we'll talk to her," She promised.
Cole said, "I swear, Phoebe was closer to marrying me when I was a demon."
Piper looked at him, "Well, to be honest, Cole, getting busted by the cops is not the best way to win her over." She said.
Paige looked at her, "Oh, Piper, gosh, I'm sure Cole already feels like a big enough loser. I know I would."
Cole gave her a weird look, "Well, thanks a lot." He muttered.
They heard a car screech nearby, "Oh god," Piper said.
Piper, Michael and Cole ran across the road where a car has rolled over while Paige stayed behind. The car burst into flames, "It's about to explode." Cole warned.
Piper threw her hands out and flicked her wrists and froze the car, "Come on." She ordered and Cole, Michael and Piper ran over to the car while Paige just stood there. They tried to open the door. "It's stuck." Piper stated and looked over to a Paige who was frozen in fear, "Paige!" Paige stood there in shock. Cole got the car door open and he reached in and pulled out a woman. "Careful. Hurry before anyone sees us." Piper warned. They carried her over to where Paige was standing. The car unfroze and blew up. "What happened to you? Paige!" Piper asked.
Paige stared at the burning car.
"Paige?" Michael asked.
Opening Credits
Manor
The next morning Phoebe and Cole walked down the stairs, "Cole, why are you being so vague? I only asked you where you were going." Phoebe stated.
Cole didn't even look at her as he continued walking, "And I told you, I'm going to get a life."
Phoebe looked at him, "See, that's the vague part I'm talking about." She said as Cole put on his coat. "The last time you left like this, you went out and got a gun." She stated.
Cole nodded, "I'm not getting a gun." He pointed out.
Phoebe said, "Okay, then, please, tell me what's wrong."
Cole looked at her, "It's just, I need action." He said.
Phoebe looked at him confused, "I kinda thought we were doing okay in that department." She said.
Cole looked at her with narrowed eyes and nodded, "Not that kind of action, Phoebe. I went from all powerful demon to mere mortal overnight." He explained.
Phoebe said, "You are not mere. Baby, you are anything but mere."
Cole said, "Next to the Charmed Ones and Michael, the most powerful demon, I'm a potted plant. But last night, pulling that woman out of the car felt so good." He explained.
Phoebe said, "Well, that's because you're a good man."
Cole said, "Well, I won't last long without a reason to get up in the morning."
Phoebe said, "You have me. I'm a reason."
Cole said, "That's all I have, Phoebe." He kissed her on the cheek. "And I'm not even sure I have that." He admitted and left the house.
Michael came down the stairs and saw the argument, "Pheebs, you okay?" He asked. She just looked at him there was evidence of fear and hurt in her eyes and she walked away, "Great talking to you," He muttered and slowly made his way to the kitchen.
Kitchen
Piper and Leo were making breakfast and Prue and Andy were sitting at the table feeding Sophie when Phoebe walked in, "Am I the world's biggest bitch or what?" She asked the room.
Piper and Leo looked at each other, "Nah, too easy."
Prue looked at her, "Pheebs, language." She warned.
Phoebe covered her mouth and ran over to Sophie, "I'm so sorry Baby," She said in a baby voice.
Phoebe looked up to her sisters and brothers-in-law, "Cole vanquished his demon half. He has given up everything he has ever known for me, and I can't even muster up a simple yes to marriage." She stated.
Leo looked at her, "Well, you're not the marrying type."
"So you keep telling yourself." Piper stated.
Phoebe looked at her curiously, "You think I am?" She asked.
Prue stood up and put a supportive arm around her younger sister, "We thing your afraid," She said.
Phoebe looked at her, "Oh, of what?" She asked.
Piper said, "Cole's humanity. He was actually a much safer boyfriend when he was a demon. Even though he could rip your throat out with his teeth."
Phoebe looked at her, "Wanna explain that to me?" She asked.
Leo put a hand out as he started talking, "Well, on some level you knew it couldn't last. A demon and a witch. But now that Cole is a human, the safety net's gone and for the first time in your relationship, the future lies in your hands." He explained.
Phoebe looked at him, "Yeah, okay, I don't wanna analyze me anymore, let's try somebody else. How's Paige feeling this morning?" she asked as a change of subject.
Piper nodded, "No idea. She flew out the door this morning like nothing happened."
Phoebe looked at Piper, "So we still don't know why she froze up?" She asked.
Piper nodded, "Nope."
"That is so weird." Phoebe said as Leo looked down into his coffee. "I mean, she can handle demons now, but she can't handle a car wreck?"
Piper said, "Yeah, it doesn't make any sense."
Phoebe cleared her throat and nodded towards Leo, "Um, if you put your nose any deeper into that coffee cup, you're gonna need a snorkel. What do you know?" She asked.
Leo looked up at the here sisters and Andy staring at him, "Paige told me something in confidence."
Piper said, "Okay, but it's kind of a dangerous time for us. If she freezes up again at the wrong moment, are you gonna be sorry you didn't tell us?"
Leo said, "Paige's parents died in a car wreck."
Phoebe put her hands to her face, "Oh my god." She muttered.
Prue looked on, "Leo, when did that happen?" She asked.
Leo said, "About eight years ago when she was in high school. She never really dealt with it."
Piper said, "Of course not. How do you deal with something like that? Plus she was a teenager and all alone."
Phoebe said, "So maybe we can help her deal with it."
Michael walked in and saw the tension on everyone's faces, "What?" He asked as he saw them all staring at one another.
Prue walked over to him and grabbed his arm, "Take us to Paige," She ordered as Piper walked over and grabbed Prue's other arm. "Pheebs," She said.
Phoebe let out a huff, "Fine," She said and grabbed his arm, a little too harshly.
"Ow," Michael said. "Let's go," He stated and they flamed out.
South Bay Social Services
Paige was at her desk, talking on the phone, "No, I'm not family, I'm from social services. I was just calling to see how she was after the accident." She listened to the other end. "Thank god. Okay, I'll call back and check in on her. Thank you." She said and hung up the phone.
She saw Prue, Piper, Phoebe and Michael walking in and over to her, "Hi. Got a minute?" Piper asked.
"No, I'm busy, you guys." She said and she got up and headed for the copy room
Phoebe said, "Uh, we just wanna talk, it's kinda important." As they followed her.
Paige didn't even look at them, "Yeah, so is my work, maybe later." She offered.
Prue looked at her, "Paige, its about what happened last night," She stated.
Paige nodded, "Not right now."
Michael spoke up at that moment, "Paige, there your sisters. Please let us help you," He pleaded.
Paige threw her hands out in irritation, "I said not now!" She yelled.
Everyone in the room turned and looked as Paige stormed into the copy room. Prue, Michael, Piper and Phoebe go after her.
Phoebe said, "Paige. We know about your parents. We're worried about you and we want you to know that you're not alone."
"And we're here for you." Piper added.
Paige finally turned and looked at them, "Fine. But just not here, okay? I'll just tell my boss I have to leave. We'll talk at home." She said as she walked out of the room.
Michael turned to Phoebe, "hey, can we talk?" He asked.
"Nope," She said and stormed out of the room.
Prue watched the interaction between them, "Is something wrong?" She asked Piper.
"Phoebe blames him for Cole losing his powers and apparently for Cole killing a witch," Piper answered.
Police station
Cole walked in and went over to Darryl, "Got a minute?" He asked.
Darryl looked at him and sighed, "Whatever it is, no. You see this assignment board?" He asked.
Cole said, "Well, that's why I'm here. If you've got such a heavy case load, let me help you."
Darryl looked at him, "Oh, you wanna help?" He asked.
Cole nodded, "Yeah. With Andy staying home with Sophie and Mikey not being able to help out with out Andy here I figured I's come and ask."
Darryl said, "Great, well, you can help me by following that little exit sign." He tried to drag Cole out of the door but Cole pushed Darryl into an office and shut the door. "That's it! Do you wanna fight? Because without the ability to throw energy balls, I think I can take you!" He said.
Cole held up his hands, "Just relax, alright. I need to get back in the game."
Darryl looked at him, confused, "What game?" He asked.
Cole looked at him, "The good versus evil game, it's all I know."
Darryl looked at him, "Oh, wow. You wanna be a cop?" he asked.
Cole nodded, "I worked for the DA's office, I know the law, I'm a former demon, I know the streets. Please, Michael gets to help out,"
Darryl looked at him, "You wanna be a cop." He repeated.
Cole said, "I wanna help with your investigations, like Mikey does,"
"As a cop?" Darryl repeated.
Cole said, "On my own. Of course the DA inspectors are still after me but you could close that case, clear my name, get my identity back."
Darryl looked at him as if he was crazy, "No, no, no, no! Now you're talking crazy."
Cole said, "No, what's crazy is me sitting around the manor all day with nothing to do. All I got in my head, all I could do with it going to waste, now that's crazy."
A man walked in, "Captain," Darryl said.
"Mind if I get my office back?" The captain asked.
Darryl nodded, "No, sorry about that." He turned to Cole "We'll talk about this later."
Cole looked at the captain, "Excuse me." And left the room.
High School
It was Parent teacher conference night at the school. Andy walked into the main hallway and headed towards the English room, "Hello," He said and smiled as he walked in.
"You must be Mr. Trudeau. Please have a seat," The teacher said and Andy sat down in one of the student's desks. "Michael is one of my best students," She stated.
"I know," Andy said followed by a sigh. "How's he doing in class?" He asked.
"He's getting caught up. I understand he was sick for a few months?" She asked.
"Yeah," Andy confirmed. "Before my daughter was born, Mikey kind of got very ill. He was almost in a coma," He stated and that caused the teacher to put a hand to her mouth. "But everything is fine now,"
"Glad to know he is doing well," She smiled.
Andy nodded with a small smile, "Just some minor issues at home we have to get through,"
The teacher frowned, "That's odd." She stated as she picked up several stapled papers, "I asked the class to write an essay on who they admire most and he wrote several wonderful papers on you and his cousins," She said handing him the paper.
Andy made a small frown as he read over the papers. He looked up, "Thanks." He said. "I've already been to his other classes…am I able to leave or is there more?" He asked.
The teacher nodded, "You may leave." She confirmed. "I do hope those issues get resolved soon," She said as he got up and walked out the door.
Manor: Living room
Prue, Piper, Phoebe, Paige, Michael and Leo were all seated by each other.
Paige began to talk, "So I wasn't the ideal high school student, you know. I, um, skipped classes, partied all night with my friends. Pretty much anything they wanted to do I was up for." She explained.
Piper smirked, "Hm, sounds like somebody else I know." And made a glance towards Phoebe, who gave her a look. "What I mean to say is that high school is a time of searching and figuring out who you are for everybody." She turned to her side, "Right, Mikey?"
Before Michael could reply Paige continued, "Yeah, but I was cruel. Especially to my mom and dad. The day they died I told them they weren't my real parents. Which is stupid because it wasn't even how I felt. I mean, just because I'm adopted it didn't mean they weren't my real parents, because they were." She explained.
"Of course they were, sweetie," Prue said putting a hand on Paige's knee.
Phoebe said, "Well, you were just feeling lost and you made a mistake. I made so many mistakes, you know, but I got through them. I changed and so have you."
Paige nodded, "Not in time."
Leo looked at Paige, "What do you mean?" He asked.
Paige said, "It was, um, family night. Just something we did every week. And my dad left the fire station early, to pick up my mum and I."
Phoebe looked at her, "Your dad was a fireman?" She asked. she made a small laugh, "I believe Andy would say your father was a brave man,"
Paige nodded, "Yeah. And I started bitching, I was too old for this and I was super lame." She started to cry. "He was so angry with me. He-he didn't, he didn't see the car that swerved into our lane, and the next thing I know I'm on the pavement, the car's on fire. I still don't know why I survived and they didn't."
"Oh," Michael said and got up from his spot and hugged her tight. She cried into him.
Phoebe said, "But you can't blame yourself for that."
Paige said, "Well, I feel guilty every single day."
Piper looked at her with her own tears forming, "I know it-it's hard but you gotta try and move forward."
"How can I move forward, Piper?" Paige asked. "I killed my parents."
"No you didn't sweetie," Prue tried to defend as Paige buried her head in Michael's chest ad she cried harder.
Piper turned to Leo, "What do we do? How can we help her deal with something that happened in the past?" She asked.
Leo appeared thoughtful, "Send her back to it."
Later that morning In the attic, Prue, Piper, Phoebe, Paige, Michael and Leo were there. Phoebe lit some candles, "Okay, wait, so I don't get it. You wanna summon the ghost from the past? From where, the fiction shelf?" Phoebe asked.
Leo looked at her, "Dickens didn't make that stuff up. He was visited by a malevolent spirit." He explained.
Paige looked at him, "Doesn't malevolent mean bad?" She asked.
Leo nodded, "Clyde's not the friendliest ghost that I know but he is the only one who helps the living visit their past."
Piper looked at him and gave him a weird look, "Clyde. The malevolent spirit's name is Clyde?" she asked.
Leo nodded, "Yeah, he doesn't like it either." He stated.
Paige said, "Wait, we're using bad magic to time travel? Should I be worried about any of those personal gain issues? What if what happened with Mikey happens to me?" she asked.
Leo nodded, "Not at all. You're only going back to learn why your parents died, that's all. Everyone ready?" he asked looking around the room.
Piper nodded, "Don't we need a summoning spell?"
Leo nodded, "No, Clyde ignores them. There's only one way to get Clyde down here." He looked up to the ceiling and his voice changed to an angry tone, "Clyde! Get your butt down here you fetid worm from the bog of eternal stench!" he turend to the sisters and Michael with a softer tone, "You gotta make him mad." He looked up with an angry tone again, "Your mother was a chunky substance from a gin cesspool. And she smelled bad too!"
Suddenly, a gust of wind appeared and flew over the attic. It turned into Clyde who looked angry, "Leo! I was with a client! 1969, Woodstock, Hendricks was on stage. This better be good." He said.
Leo held out a hand, "I need you to take Paige here back to the day of her greatest pain." He explained.
Clyde looked at him, "A job? Why didn't you say so in the first place?" He asked.
Leo said, "Not a job. A favor."
Clyde nodded, "I don't do charity work."
Leo said, "You owe me, Clyde. Or do I need to remind you of your client that I healed? The one you returned from the past, on the edge of a cliff! I believe there were thirty two broken bones."
Clyde interrupted him, "Alright, alright, I remember." He turned to Paige. "Are you sure you wanna do this? I only open the door to your past, so don't guarantee no safe trip."
Piper scoffed, "Obviously."
Paige nodded, "Yeah. I need to do this."
Clyde said, "Fine." And turned to Leo "You guide her." He ordered.
Clyde clicked his fingers and a door appeared in the middle of the room, "I won't be able to hear your call. You guys will be on your own. Of course you can always call Natilie," He said.
Piper said, "We'll be okay, just take care of Paige."
Clyde opened the door. Leo turned to Paige, "Just don't look down."
Paige nodded and went through the door and Leo followed,. Clyde turned to Prue, Piper and Michael, "How's about you three? Care for a little trip to the past?" He asked as Two cloud-like objects escaped out of the door. "See it all a second time. my rates are steep but fair." He added.
Prue nodded and smiled, "No thanks,"
Clyde turned and looked at Phoebe, "how about you?" He asked.
Phoebe appeared thoughtful, "Can you take us back to meet John Lennon?"
"No!" Piper said sternly.
Phoebe looked at her, "No, no, right. We'll pass."
Clyde said, "Suit yourself." He closed the door, then clicked his fingers and the door disappeared. "If you ever need my services just yell." He added before clicking his fingers again and disappearing.
Phoebe looked at her two older sisters, "We need to be here when Paige gets back." She stated.
Piper said, "Yeah, I'll cook dinner and we can just hang out for a while. I hope this plan works." Piper left the attic just as Andy enetered.
"Hey, your back," Prue pointed out as Micahel followed Piper out of the attic.
Andy nodded and turned towards Phoebe, "You should look at these," He suggested and handed her the essay, "Its an essay on who Michael admires most and he wrote a wonderful paper about you and your sisters. I've already read mine," He said.
"Maybe later," Phoebe said and tried to hand it back to him.
"Phoebe," Prue spoke. "Read it." She ordered and turned back to Andy, "I'm going to check on Sophie," She said and left the attic. "Andy?" She called out and he followed.
Phoebe sighed as she sat on the couch and read what Michael wrote about her. Phoebe is one of the best. She is always there for me. But I am beginning to question if she still is. After what happened when she got her boyfriend back. She blames me for his actions. She's been avoiding me. Every attempt I make she pushes me farther away. I wish she and I can sit down and talk. I mean, I love her dearly and no one will ever replace her in my heart. "Aww." Phoebe said as tears formed in her eyes, "That is so sweet. Maybe I should go talk to him," She said to herself as she got up. One of the cloud-like creatures floated down and went inside Phoebe, possessing her.
Phoebe looked up and in a country accent she said, "So do I." Referring to what Piper said about the plan working. She looked to the other creature "Don't worry, Frankie. I'll find you a body too."
The past. Paige's old bedroom
The door appeared and Paige and Leo fell out of it and it disappeared, "Rough ride. Are you okay?" Leo asked her.
Paige stood up. She was a teenager again, "Yeah. I'm alright. I'm all..." She looked in the mirror. "Wrong! Oh my god! I'm so screwed, I'm supposed to come back as a ghost, not a ghost with... braces?" She added as she looked at herself.
Leo looked at her, "You're meant to relive the experience not observe it, Paige." He explained.
Paige said, "Yeah, but I just wanted to come back and sit on the sidelines and make sarcastic comments about my lack of style."
Leo rolled his eyes, "Just take a look around, Paige." He ordered.
Paige looked around her room and saw all her old posters on the wall, and all her items on the shelves, "Hey, you're right, I was cool, even then." She said as she picked up a necklace. "Oh, Philip Lewicky gave this to me. My first love. Can I call him?" she asked.
Leo widened his eyes, "That's not why we're here." He stated.
There was a knock at the door and Paige paniced, "What do I do?" She asked him.
"Open the door." He answered.
Paige went and opened the door. Her dad was standing there, "Dad," She said.
Mr. Matthews looked at her, "Ready for school? You don't wanna miss your ride." He said as Paige hugged him. "What's with all this... Is that smoke? Are you smoking in here?" He asked. He went over to the window sill and put out a cigarette. "You know, I don't know how much more of this your mother and I can take." He said as he left her room.
Commercial Break
The past. Paige's house
Paige ran down the stairs and Leo followed, "Wait, wait, where are you going?" Leo asked.
Paige said, "To talk to my dad. Did you see the look in his eyes? I can't believe I hurt him like that."
Leo looked at her, "Rules first. Define what you came here for. You need to follow the same path you took eight years ago."
"What if I don't remember?" She argued.
Leo said, "I'll guide you. You're the only one that can see me. Just don't forget the goal. You're here to learn what really happened the night your parents died."
Paige nodded, "I understand. Thank you, Leo. Step aside." She headed for the kitchen but stopped when she heard her parents talking.
Mr. Matthews was sat at a table, "She's smoking again. This time in her bedroom. And when I went in, she had the nerve to give me this big hug, like I wouldn't be mad."
Mrs. Matthews sat across from him, "She told me she'd quit smoking."
Mr. Matthews said, "Oh, yeah, right, just like the time she quit drinking. She passes out at another one of those parties and I had to go pick her up and bring her home."
Mrs. Matthews said, "School called yesterday, you know, she's been cutting her classes again."
Mr. Matthews said, "She's not gonna get into college if she keeps this up."
Mrs. Matthews said, "Oh, well, haven't you heard? She's not going to college."
Mr. Matthews said, "We'll see about that."
Paige looked over at Leo, "I changed my mind, Leo. I don't wanna go in there. They think I'm awful. I was awful."
"It's alright. You can do it. Just remember why you're here." He stated and they walked into the kitchen.
"Mom?" Paige asked and went to hug her. "Oh my god, I've missed you so much." She added.
Mrs. Matthews looked at her, "What's gotten into you?" She asked.
Mr. Matthews looked at his wife, "Didn't I tell ya?"
Paige said, "Uh, guys, I have an announcement to make. Starting now I-I'm turning my life around."
Mr. Matthews nodded, "You're not borrowing the car."
Paige looked at him, "No, I mean it."
Mr. Matthews scoffed, "Yeah, like you meant it when you said you were gonna stop cutting classes."
Paige said, "Uh, mom, you understand me? You've gotta believe me."
Mrs. Matthews said, "Oh, so now I'm mom. Last night we weren't even your real parents."
Paige said, "No, you are. I was just saying that to... hurt you."
Mrs. Matthews turned to Mr. Matthews "Did you feed the cat?" She asked.
Mr. Matthews nodded, "Yeah."
Paige held her hands out, "You guys, I'm not a screw up. I promise I'll change, I promise I'll go to college and, oh, please stop. Please, we need to talk."
Mr. Matthews said, "Oh, you are right about that, and we are going to talk. About everything. Tonight at dinner."
Paige narrowed her eyes, "Dinner. The family dinner." She said.
"Paige, be careful." Leo warned.
Paige said, "Please, we really need to talk before we drive."
A horn beeped outside, "Oh, ah, Paige, that's your ride." Mrs. Matthews said.
Leo turned to Paige, "You have to follow the events of the day, Paige. No exceptions." And they left the kitchen.
Manor: Kitchen
Piper was cooking dinner and Phoebe was admiring herself in the mirror. The second cloud-like creature floated above. Michael sat in the chair by the table with his arms folded across his chest.
Piper began to speak, "I don't think I've ever cooked for Paige before, I hope she likes pork roast." She said.
Phoebe spoke while checking herself out, "Just out of curiosity, do you think that I am a natural beauty or is this like one of those gem bodies?"
Piper rolled her eyes, "Oh, Phoebe, please, like you haven't always been beautiful." She stated.
Phoebe said, "Oh, that's good because I hate lifting heavy objects."
Piper looked at her, "What is with the blanche dublah?"
Cole walked in at that moment, "Phoebe, hi." He said. And walked over and kissed her.
Phoebe looked at him after the kiss ended, "Well, if you're not the most to say the least..."
Cole looked at her, "Did I miss something?" He asked and chuckled
Phoebe looked up at the creature and it floats down into Cole, possessing him. He gasped. "Yeah, me." She replied and they kissed, hungrily. Cole picked her up and they made out up against the fridge.
"Uh… Piper," Michael said as he saw the two.
Piper continued to talk, "I think this sister's night is a good idea." She stated as she took a pie out of the oven, she turned around to see Phoebe and Cole making out. She rolled her eyes. "There's still so much we don't know about Paige... yet."
Phoebe and Cole stopped kissing and spotted the pie, "Oh boy," Cole said as he and Phoebe raced over to the pie and Phoebe grabbed a handful. She stuck it in Cole's mouth.
Piper widened her eyes, "Hey! What is the matter with you two? That is for Paige." She scolded.
Cole said, "Sorry, ma'am. We're starving!"
Phoebe said, "In so many ways."
Piper made a fake smile, "Uh-huh. Well, go to lunch."
Cole said, "Good idea." And he picked up Piper's keys. "Let's cut out, Lulu." They kissed
"Lulu?" Michael asked in disbelief.
Piper said, "Alright, enough with the pet names and the accents, and the kitchen. And could you come up with something better than Lulu, it sounds like a poodle." She asked as she turned around and faced the stove Cole picked up a knife
"Piper," Michael said as he pointed to Cole.
Cole grabbed Piper, "Are you making fun of my girl?" He asked.
"Uh..." Piper mumbled.
Phoebe said, "My Frankie is so protective."
Piper looked up to Cole, "Frankie." Cole spun her around to face Phoebe and she gasped "And Lulu."
"Hi. We're ghosts." 'Phoebe' said.
Cole said, "Boo!" And laughed.
Phoebe said, "And we've been waiting about fifty years to finish a job. So now if you'll excuse us." She knocked Piper out.
"Uh…" Michael said as they turned to face him. "Hey," He said with a fake smile.
"Hi?" 'Phoebe' replied.
"Haha," Michael laughed. "Bye." He added.
Before 'Cole' could grab him flames surrounded Michael and he was gone.
The past. Paige's school
She opened her locker, "I can't believe I remember the combination. I used to live out of this locker." She stated as a pager in her locker beeped "My pager." She said and looked around for it.
Leo looked at her, "You had a pager in high school?" He asked.
Paige snapped her fingers, "Ugh, get with it, Leo, it is the nineties." She stated. She found the pager and read it. "Michelle Niglith. Uh, I can't deal with her drama right now." She said as she closed her locker. Michelle approached her. "Michelle." She greeted
Michelle said, "Remember your whole peppermint schnapps theory?"
Paige nodded, "No."
Michelle said, "You know, how you can't tell it from a breath mint? You're wrong, I got so busted."
Paige said, "Oh," She laughed "sorry." She added. And they walked off.
Leo looked at her, "You drank at high school?" He asked.
Paige leaned towards him, "What are you? My guide or my judge?" She asked.
Michelle looked at her curiously, "Uh, excuse me?" She asked.
Paige nodded, "Nothing."
Michelle continued, "I got grounded for two weeks. My mom pulled this whole estrogen fest thing. I swear to god she's so damaged."
Paige nodded, "She's not damaged."
Michelle nodded in agreement. "You're right, she's beyond repair." She said.
Paige said, "No, Michelle, she's not beyond repair, she's actually just trying to set boundaries and believe it or not you need them. So maybe you should just lay off. I mean, god, how would you feel if she dies tomorrow?"
Michelle looked at her, "Geez, Paige, morbid much?" She asked as the bell rang. Paige walked off. "Wait for me."
In Paige's class The teacher was teaching, "Although the magna carter was a document of great importance to England and the American colonies, it originally granted concessions to few but the baronial families." He explained as Paige looked at her watch. "The vast majority of England would remain without an active voice in government for another seven hundred years."
Michelle handed Paige a note. It read, "'Donny is soooo hot!'"
Paige looked at her, "You don't want Donny, trust me. He winds up bagging groceries for a living and driving a Camero."
Michelle smiled, "I love Cameros."
Teacher looked at the two girls, "Would you girls please, I'm trying to teach."
Michelle popped her gum she was chewing, "But nobody's listening." She said.
The class laughed and the teacher said, "Yeah, I know. That's why all you delinquents are in this class." The teacher continued to read from a book.
Paige looked at the clock, "Ugh, this is ridiculous, I have to get out of here." She said.
Michelle nodded, "I know the feeling."
Paige looked at her, "No, you don't understand, it's my last day with my parents." She stated.
Michelle turned to her, "Okay, what are you babbling about?"
Paige rolled her eyes, "Excuse me, Mr. Martin, can I have a bathroom pass, please?" She asked.
Leo appeared at that moment, "Don't even think about it, Paige. You have to follow the same path."
Teacher looked up, "What is the problem, Ms. Matthews?" He asked.
Paige turned to Leo "I am tired of wasting my time here."
Teacher looked at her, "Well, I'm sorry if I'm boring you."
Paige turned to him, "No, I'm not talking to you, Mr. Martin." She said.
Teacher looked at her, "Who were you talking to?" He asked.
"Yeah, really, who?" Michelle asked.
Leo leaned in and whispered, "Paige..."
Paige said, "This is stupid. Uh, this is all just a bad memory, I need to get out of here." She said and headed for the door.
Teacher stood up, "Ms. Matthews, you will sit down and be quiet and wait for the bell to ring just like everyone else!"
The class began to cheer, "Go! Go! Go!"
Teacher said, "Sit down Ms. Matthews."
Paige nodded, "No, I won't." Paige opened the door and a security man was standing there.
Security Guard looked at her, "Going somewhere?" He asked.
Present- Prue and Andy's room
Prue and Andy were wating a few moments to wake up Sophie. "Andy, something is going on between Phoebe and Mikey," She said.
"I figured. Haven't you noticed she has been distant and shot down every idea he made?" He asked. "Or the time when Cole lost his powers how she didn't want him too,"
"Yeah," Prue nodded. "I swear if they keep it up I am locking them in a room and they are going to talk to each other." She said as she picked up Sophie. "Let's go see Aunt Piper," She said and headed towards the stairs. She went down into the kitchen only to find no one there. "Mikey?" She called. "Piper? Phoebe?" She yelled.
"What is it?" Andy asked as he came down the stairs. His phone rang, "It's Darryl."
Police station
Piper walked in, holding her jaw. She was followed by Michael and they walked over to Darryl, "Did you find anything?" She asked.
Darryl nodded, "Yeah, there was a Lulu and Frankie in the database. Some crazy young couple. They robbed a series of jewelry stores in the fifties. They killed three people before they were gunned down." He explained.
Piper said, "Uhh, I knew they were criminals."
"Who?" Darryl asked as he looked between Michael and Piper.
"Ghosts," Michael answered.
"The ghosts that possessed Phoebe and Cole." Piper corrected.
Some cops looked at her and Darryl takes her and Micahel across the room, "Shh. Please, do not use the G word around here." He said,
Piper said, "Okay, fine, but we need to find them before they finish their job."
Darryl looked at them, "What job?" He asked.
Piper said, "They must have some sort of unfinished business here on earth and they either can't or won't move on until it's done."
Darryl looked at Michael, "You know this?" He asked.
Michael was about to speak but Piper beat him to it, "Well, they didn't take me aside and share their plan with me but it's how most ghosts work, Darryl."
Two cop looked at her and Darryl dragged her into a room, Michael looked at the cops, "Hi," He said. A hand came out of the room and jerked Michael inside as well.
Darryl looked at them, "Oh, no creepy talk in the precinct. Will you just keep down the creepy talk."
Piper said, "Darryl, I'm sorry, but what do you want me to say? My sister was just possessed with a supernaturally born killer, My oldest sister is trying to get her baby to sleep while my husband is in 1994, and I do not mean in the fashion sense. He time traveled back with my other sister. And my cousins best friend is out of state visiting family and his girlfriend is god knows where with her father so the only one left to help me and Mikey is you."
Darryl looked at her, "Gee, thanks."
Piper said, "Darryl, you know what I mean. What if they hurt somebody? What if they kill somebody? Then Phoebe and Cole will take the fall."
Darryl said, "Look," he showed her a map "the data says that Lulu and Frankie were gunned down here, outside of a jewelry store. Maybe that's the job they were trying to finish." He suggested.
Jewelry store
Phoebe and Cole walked in and they took off their sunglasses and looked around, "One security guard, armed. Right corner." She observed.
'Cole' nodded, "Got it." He said.
'Phoebe' pointed in a direction, "Two female customers." And they wandered over to the glass counter where very large expensive diamond rings were being displayed. The sales assistant approached the counter
Sales Assistant looked at them, "Can I help you?" He asked.
'Phoebe' looked at him, "We're looking for a diamond engagement ring."
Sales Assistant looked at her, "You came to the right place."
'Phoebe' looked at 'Cole', "They're all so beautiful I don't know which one I like best."
'Cole' said, "You like the biggest one, baby."
'Phoebe' said, "Oh, there. That's the one I want, baby."
Sales Assistant said, "Excellent eye for quality, it's the perfect solitaire."
'Cole' said, "I don't know. The cut looks a little off."
Sales assistant said, "Oh, no, I can assure you."
'Cole' turend to a security guard "You, you look like a regular guy, can I ask your opinion?" The security guard nodded and walked over to them. "I just wanna know... can I borrow your gun?" He laughed and punched the security guard in the stomach, then his face. He fell to the floor and Cole pulled out the gun. "You stupid." He laughed "Move over, baby!"
'Phoebe' moved away from the counter and everyone in the store ducked. 'Cole' shot the glass. He screamed in excitement.
'Phoebe' looked at him, "We're back!" She cheered. She grabbed a ring and put it on.
'Cole' said, "Ooh, gotta hand it to you, Lulu. This body's a live wire. The guy digs action, I can sense it." He shot at two display cases. He screamed in excitement again.
'Phoebe' said, "This woman loves the feeling of this diamond on her finger although she'd never cop to it."
He walks over and kissed her, "Let's split, baby." He said.
They headed for the door. The security guard got up. 'Cole' turned around and shot him in the leg. 'Cole' and 'Phoebe' left the store, unaware of the security cameras watching them.
Commercial Break
Jewelry store
A detective was dusting for prints, some interviewing the witnesses and paramedics were wheeling out the security guard on a stretcher.
Darryl, Michael and Piper walked in, "Oh, no, is he okay?" Piper asked.
Darryl said, "Looks like it was just his leg."
Piper said, "We're too late, they did it."
"Maybe I should go back and try and scry for Phoebe," Michael suggested.
Darryl said, "Hold on just a second." He walked over to a cop who was interviewing a witness. "Excuse me. What went down here?" He asked.
The cop said, "Weirdest thing, Inspector. They could've cleaned this place out and all they take is a diamond ring." The cop walked away.
Piper said, "That doesn't make any sense."
Darryl said, "Looks like your ghosts still have unfinished business."
Piper said, "Okay, we've gotta find them before they kill somebody. But, uh, first, is there a surveillance tape?"
"Where is it?" Michael asked.
Darryl looked around and saw a man ready to eject a tape out of a VCR. "Yeah, it's over there." Darryl said and pointed over to it. Piper gasped and quickly flicked her wrists and froze the scene. She unfroze Darryl. "Piper..." He said.
"Uh-huh." She replied
Darryl said, "You froze the crime scene."
"Uh-huh." She repeated.
Darryl said, "You cannot freeze a crime scene."
Piper made a face, "Well, I did." She stated as if she was a little kid, "Okay, we got to protect Phoebe and Cole, so start wiping fingerprints."
Michael went to the door and wiped the doorknob
Darryl looked at the two, "No, no, no! Look, I am sick of you and your entire dysfunctional family unit. I will not falsify evidence, I am a cop."
Piper said, "Okay, cop, do I need to remind you that you bailed Cole out of jail last night."
"So?" Darryl asked.
Piper waved her hands as she spoke, "So I was wondering what you were gonna tell your captain when he sees Cole on the surveillance tape."
Darryl rolled his eyes, "What are you waiting for? Go get the damn tape!" He ordered and Piper went and ejected the tape. Darryl wiped the fingerprints. "I can not believe I am doing this." He said.
Piper said, "Shh, it's for a good cause. Check his pockets." Darryl looked in the detective's pockets and pulled something out. Piper handed Darryl the tape. "Okay, back in position." They went back over to where they were standing. Darryl tucked the tape into his pants. "You good?" She aksed.
Darryl nodded, "Yeah." He said.
Piper flicked her wrists and everyone unfroze. The man tried to eject the VCR but nothing came out. The cop walked over to Darryl, "Inspector," He said.
Darryl looked at him, "Yeah."
Cop said, "I thought you'd like to know, a couple fitting the description just hit a bridal store on Fourth. Just stole a dress."
Darryl looked at him, "A what?"
Cop said, "You know, a dress. A wedding dress. Go figure." He walked away.
Piper said, "First they're all over each other at the manor, then they steal a ring and then a wedding dress? Frankie and Lulu's unfinished business isn't criminal, it's matrimonial. They wanna get married!"
"Oh my." Michael said and then gave her a weird look, "How did I not figure this out?" He asked.
Darryl said, "Do you people have any normal weddings in your family?"
Piper rolled her eyes, "Come on, we don't have a lot of time." And they left
The past Paige's school.
Paige was waiting outside the principal's office. The principal was talking with her parents.
Leo appeared beside Paige, "You okay?" He asked.
Paige nodded, "No, Leo, I am nowhere near okay. My time here is running out, I haven't done anything." She said.
Leo said, "You've done enough."
Paige said, "I haven't done anything. I came to stop feeling guilty, only now I feel guiltier than ever because I know what a damn disappointment I am."
"Is that what you believe?" He asked.
Paige said, "Hello? Have you been watching or eating popcorn? My mom and my dad think I'm a total failure. I'm not. I can't let them die thinking that. In fact, I'm not gonna let them die at all."
Leo said, "You can't change history, Paige, only learn from it."
Paige nodded, "I am not letting them get in that car tonight, Leo."
"Yes, you will. And if you break anymore rules..." Leo argued.
Paige got up, "Screw the rules, Leo."
Leo said, "Oh, is that the teenager talking or the adult. The reason we journeyed to the past was so you could learn from it. You see what breaking the rules has gotten you so far?"
Paige said, "They're my parents. I have to do something." She walked in the principal's office. "Sorry to barge in like this."
Principal said, "That incident in class was the last straw, Paige. I'm suspending you from school."
"Just for that?" Paige asked.
"Just for that?" The principal repeated. "Cutting classes, starting fights, smoking on campus, possession of alcohol." She added.
Paige said, "I swear I don't turn out like this."
Mr. Matthews said, "Unfortunately your actions speak a lot louder than your words."
Outside the school
Paige's mom and dad were leaving the school and Paige followed, "It looks bad, I know. But it doesn't turn out this way, I promise. I-I get a degree in social work, I help others, I even get into Berkley thanks to high test scores and a powerful essay on the death of my... ooh, let's just say a powerful essay. Uh... mom and dad, you've got to believe me." She said.
Mr. Matthews said, "How can we do that, Paige?"
Mrs. Matthews said, "We've seen your act too many times."
Paige said, "Please, just look at me as though you actually saw me. I'm not who you think I am."
Mr. Matthews said, "How do you know what we think?"
Paige said, "'Cause I can see it in your eyes. Disappointment. And, okay, yeah, I deserve it, I do. All I can say for myself is that I'm searching and one day I will find myself."
Mrs. Matthews started to talk, "Paige..."
Paige held a hand out and interrupted her, "Let me finish. I'll find myself because of you two. You shaped who I am. I am not a bad daughter, you did not raise a bad daughter. I'm good. I just, I wish you could see it."
Mr. Matthews said, "Sweetheart, of course we can see it."
Paige looked at him, "What?" she asked.
Mrs. Matthews said, "We know you're good. We've always known. But we also know that you're lost and that scares us. And there's nothing in the world we want more than to help you find your way home. We just don't know how."
Paige said, "I think you just did." They hugged. "I will stay up on my word."
Mrs. Matthews said, "Mm-hm. Promise?"
Paige said, "I promise." They headed for the car. "Uh, you guys, can we just stay in tonight and not go to the restaurant?"
Mr. Matthews said, "We still have to talk."
Paige said, "Yeah, we will, just at home."
Mr. Matthews said, "Okay, let's go home."
They got in the car and Leo appeared, "What?" Paige asked him as they drive off.
Mr. Matthews said, "Well, what's it gonna be tonight? Should we have pizza?"
Paige said, "I kinda miss mom's cooking."
Mrs. Matthews laughed, "Like you don't have it every night."
Leo said, "You shouldn't do this, Paige, you can't change the past. Not without consequences. Think of Mikey. He altered a whole day and he still had to face them."
Paige looked at him, "I already changed it," She said.
Mr. Matthews looked in his mirror, "Did you say something, honey?" He asked.
Paige nodded, "No, nothing."
Leo said, "You don't know what you're doing."
Paige said, "Yes, I do." And Leo disappeared A truck headed for their car. "Watch out!" She cried and shielded her face. Suddenly blue and white lights surrounded her and she orbed out.
The truck hit the car and it rolled over. Paige orbed back in on the road. The car exploded. Paige got up and started crying.
Commercial Break
Road (Past)
Paige headed for the car but Leo ran over and grabbed her Let go of me! I have to save them!" She screamed.
Leo nodded, "They're gone." He stated.
Paige tried to elbow him, "Why did you bring me back here? Why!" She aksed as she cried more, "I thought I could stop the accident." She added.
"You couldn't stop the accident because it was never your fault." Leo argued.
Paige nodded, "It was my fault. It was my fault."
Leo nodded, "They would have died anyway, it was their destiny. Just like it was your destiny to be saved by magic." He explained.
Paige's eyes lit with realization, "That's how I got out of the car. I orbed out." She stated.
Leo nodded, "That's right."
Paige looked at him, "I could always orb?" She asked.
Leo said, "Magic's always been inside of you. It saved you because you were meant to do great things with it, and you have, and you will. This is what you came back here to find, what caused the accident, why you survived it. You need to forgive yourself."
Paige said, "But it doesn't matter, it doesn't matter, they'll never know how much I love them. They'll never know what good parents they were."
A chapel
Piper and Darryl rushed out of it, "How many more chapels have we got?"
Piper said, "That was the last big one, there's one more in the neighborhood." She replied.
Darryl said, "What if they're not there?" Darryl asked.
Piper said, "Then we expand our search to the entire city." They got in Darryl's car and drove off.
Manor
Michael flamed in in Prue and Andy's room, "Piper needs your help," He stated as he became corporeal.
"Oh. Okay," Prue said handing Sophie to Andy. "I'll be back." She said and kissed him and grabbed Michael's hand and they flamed out.
Chapel
'Phoebe' and 'Cole' were getting married. 'Cole' had the chaplain at gunpoint, "Do you take this woman to be thy wedded wife, to love, comfort and honor, in sickness or in health, for sorrow or joy, so long as you both shall live?" The chaplain asked.
'Cole' said, "I sure do. I'm gonna take good care of her this time. Whoo!"
'Phoebe' looked at him, "You okay, Frankie?" She asked.
'Cole' said. "Yeah, it's just this guy's all jumpin' inside. Almost like he wants to get married as much as I do." He giggled
'Phoebe' said, "I know what you mean. This one's like, quivering inside of me." She turned to the chaplain "What are you waiting for?" She asked. "Continue." She added.
Chaplain said, "Right. Do you, Lulu, take this man to be thy wedded husband..."
Piper and Darryl barged in at the same time Prue and Michael flamed in, "We object to this union." Piper said.
The Chaplain held his hands up, "I didn't call for any objections." He stated.
Piper said, "Yeah, well, I still object." And froze the room but 'Phoebe' and 'Cole' didn't freeze "You two are not frozen, why aren't you two frozen?" She asked.
'Phoebe' said, "Well, I know I'm not the most technically minded, but I wouldn't think it would have something to do with the fact that we're ghosts." They laughed
'Cole' turned to Piper, "I warned you, witch." And pointed the gun at her.
Darryl pulled out his own gun, "Freeze! Put the gun down slowly." He ordered.
'Cole' laughed and shot the gun. Darryl shot at him and the bullet hit him in the chest, "Damn it!" 'Cole' said and He fell on the floor. Frankie exited Cole.
'Phoebe' looked at it, "Don't worry, baby. We'll try again. Next time we'll get it right." Lulu exited Phoebe.
Phoebe sat down beside Cole. "Cole! Cole! Cole. Cole. Leo!" She called.
Darryl looked at her, "I had no choice." He stated.
Piper said, "I-I know. uh, get him outta here," She ordered and unfroze the chaplain "and, uh, call an ambulance."
Chaplain looked around, "What happened?" He asked.
Darryl said, "Come, come with me." And took him outside.
Phoebe looked at Cole, "Please don't die, please don't die. Leo!" She called.
"Phoebe, it's gonna be…" Michael started and she glared at him.
"Don't," She barked. "Leo!"
Piper looked up to the ceiling, "Clyde, get your ass down here you son of a bitch!" She ordered. Clyde appeared in a gust of wind. "Bring back Leo now." She ordered. Clyde clicked his fingers and the door appeared. He opened it and Paige and Leo jumped out of it. "Cole's been shot." She told him.
Leo rushed over to Cole, "Step away, Phoebe." He ordered and she moved away for Leo to heal him.
Clyde looked up, "Frankie! Lulu! Where do you think you're goin'?" He asked. He pulled the ghosts in the door. He clicked his fingers and the door disappeared He grunted, "Ehh, it's an unfortunate slip-up. I told ya, it's a dangerous journey." He clicked his fingers and disappeared.
Cole got up, "You never answered the Chaplains question," He said to Phoebe
Phoebe looked at him, "I never answered your question. Ask me again."
Cole looked at her, "Will you marry me?" he asked.
Phoebe said, "Yes, I will." They hugged and everyone smiled
Manor
Michael sat on the couch in the living room talking to Paige, "How was the past?" He asked her.
Before Paige could answer Phoebe walked in, "Paige, can I talk to Mikey for a minute?" She asked.
"Sure," Paige replied and got up and left the room
"Oh no, I know that look," Michael joked. "What's up?" He asked.
"I have been extremely rude to you for the past few months." She stated. "I guess deep down I do blame you for Cole's actions and I shouldn't," She added. "I'm sorry." She said.
"Why were you doing it though?" Michael asked.
In the other room Prue was eavesdropping on their conversation, "What are you doing?" Piper whispered as she saw Prue with her ear to the door. As all the doors were closed to give them their space.
"I put Phoebe in the living room in the hopes she would talk to Mikey about why she and him are at each other's throats," She replied. When she put her ear back to the door she heard crying. "Oh boy," She said as she opened the door.
She found Phoebe and Michael hugging each other, "I guess I was afraid to lose my only cousin and I thought being distant would stop that," She said
Michael pulled out of the hug and said, "You'll never lose me. Or Cole or your sisters." He said and they hugged again.
Manor. Dining room
Later that night, Prue, Piper, Phoebe, Michael and Paige were having dinner. They clinked their glasses, "Thanks you guys," Phoebe said.
Piper looked at her, "Just no weddings until we vanquish the Source." She said.
Paige went to take a sip but stopped, "Apple cider?" She asked.
Piper nodded, "Apple cider, yes."
Paige, took a sip and Prue was the first to speak, "Paige... you haven't told us, and we're dying to know. What happened in your past?" She asked.
Paige sighed, "Well, I found out I wasn't responsible for the accident."
Piper said, "Of course you weren't."
Phoebe noticed the tension and sadness in Paige's eyes. "Then what's the matter?" She asked.
Paige said, "It just makes me sad that my parents won't see us or what I've become."
Leo stood in the foyer, "Actually, that's not quite true."
Paige's parents appeared in the foyer and Paige stood up, "Uh, Leo?" Piper asked.
Leo smiled, "Let's just say that I owe Clyde now."
Mrs. Matthews said, "We know who you are, honey. Who you've become."
Mr. Matthews said, "We've been with you every step of the way and we're so proud of you, sweetheart." He turned to Prue and said. "Please, take care of her," He said with a smile.
"I will," She replied.
Paige ran over and hugged them.
They pulled out of the hug and Mr. Matthews looked at each of the sisters, "Paige," He started. "We knew all about your sisters and your destiny." He revealed.
"What?" She asked.
A few weeks after we adopted you," Ms. Matthes said and then looked at the three other sistrs, "our Grams came to us and told us about it." She said. "We couldn't tell you because it was all kept secret."
Mr. Matthews put his hand on Paige's shopulder, "You were supposed to meet your sisters and start your destiny a lot sooner than you did." He added.
Michael stood up and said, "Probably around the time I came into there lives?" He asked.
Mr. Matthews shook his head, "Before that." He answered.
"When we got our magic?" Prue asked knowingly.
"Yes." Mr. Matthews stated.
Paige hugged her parents again and this time Ms. Matthews looked at the remaining sisters, "Come join the hug," She stated and the sisters all went and hugged them.
Mr. Matthews open his eyes during the hug, "You too," He stated and looked directly at Michael.
Michael smiled and joined in on the hug.

On another note, Phoebe was being distant to Michael because she blamed him for Cole killing the witch in season three and then blamed him for Cole losing his magic. But that's all resolved in the end of this one.
Next episode is going to be Enter The Demon. Don't worry though…Size matters, Trial by Magic are defiantly coming up before they vanquish the source. I am NOT doing the brain Drain episode though. Haha.
