Mission Impossible:
Paris Fanfic
With Jim waiting outside the vault, Paris put on the headset that Barney had given him. His mission was to get in and out within ten minutes or his brain was fried due to the sonic sound they had in there. With the headset on, he went in as quickly as he could to the box that had the fake money plates. He picked the lock of the box before he opened it up and started to switch the plates. He felt the sweat rolling down his face as he switched them but stopped when a huge pain hit his head. The batteries seemed to be wearing off, and he tried to put the plates back before shutting the door. When he did, he put the plates back into his pocket before he started going down the hallway that would take him out. His head began to swim and the room seemed to be moving. He tried to look for the way out, but somehow ended up facing the wrong way.
By the time he was at the door, his face was covered in sweat and he knew he only had a matter of minutes before he was a goner. With the last of his strength, he managed to push the button and get into the regular area of the safe. After the door shut behind him, he sat there pulling off the headset taking a few deep breaths. His body still seemed unsteady as he stood up, grabbing onto the wall as he felt the room spinning. His head was pounding as well and he knew he would go to the hotel and get some much needed rest before the more.
As he opened the vault door and took off their timer, he was met face to face with Jim, who had a worried look on his face, "Paris, are you alright?"
"Yea Jim, just batteries didn't seem to last as long as Barney thought." Paris remarked but stumbled.
Jim caught him and held him steady, "Let's get you back to the hotel."
"Thanks, head is pounding and not feeling steady on my feet." Paris explained.
Although Jim knew they needed to get out of the building quickly, he helped Paris out of the building with ease seeing as his agent was having a hard time focusing. He prayed that the room hadn't done too much damage besides dizziness and headache. Outside in the darkness, Jim got Paris to lay back in the car as he drove them to the hotel where he was met with Willie, and Barney wondering what had happened. Jim got Paris into bed before he explained the batteries didn't seem to work as long. Barney's face fell, assuring them it should have worked but was worried at how Paris was doing.
"He complained of a headache and being dizzy, luckily that was all." Jim remarked.
"Jim…" Paris called from the bed.
Barney came over, "Hey Paris, I'm so sorry about that."
"It's alright….got the plates." Paris struggled to get them out of his coat pocket.
Jim helped him take them out, "Just get some sleep Paris, we still need to finish the mission."
"Do you think he's going to be up for the mission tomorrow?" Willie questioned.
"Long as he rests, he should be fine." Jim explained hoping he was right, "Why don't we all get some rest, we need to finish our parts tomorrow."
They all agreed but couldn't help but wake up every few hours to check on their friend. Luckily by morning Paris woke to find the dizziness had left and although his headache was still there, it wasn't as bad as the previous night. He agreed that he could continue with the mission as he went to the building with Willie and Barney. Together they met Igor who now had the fake plates to make the money. Barney and Willie set up the acid which would kill the other money in the other room before starting to work on the money.
Hours passed as they finished the job and they all left to go outside waiting for Jim to come out knowing he was the last one before they headed off to await their next mission. In the car while waiting, Paris leaned his head back against the seat. When he was working with the guys to make the money, he didn't notice his headache had gotten worse. And he seemed to be experiencing dizziness again. He tried to act natural, but knew the guys could tell he wasn't feeling right. They didn't comment though since the mission was almost over and they would get a few days rest at least hopefully. Jim came out shortly and noticed Paris was looking pale. He questioned if he was alright, and Paris agreed he was alright, but knew he wasn't telling the truth. He didn't dispute it however as they drove back to the airport that would take them home.
A day passed since they had returned home when Paris got a call from Jim about their next assignment. Although the dizziness seemed to come and go, the headache was still there and he had tried every over the counter medicine he could find. He knew going to the hospital would be wise, but he refused to go. It was one place he hated with a passion, ever since he was a kid. He had been there with the orphanage due to an outbreak of illness. The nuns and priests had no other choice to bring them there, but after being left alone for overnight with the fever, he became terrified. He remembered walking through the halls and getting lost trying to find someone to help him.
He had ended up in some old guys room, who had reacted badly to him being in there. Paris shuddered at the thought of the man leaping from his bed and shaking him demanding to know why he couldn't leave him alone. Paris tried to explain he was trying to find help, when the man began shaking and collapsed to the ground screaming. The man went limp after a few minutes and Paris stood there unsure what to do. A nurse came in a few minutes later finding him and taking him back to his room yelling at him for leaving. From that day on, he never went to a hospital unless it was out of his control, and a headache was indeed within his control.
Popping a couple of medicine powders into his mouth and washing them down with water, he drove to Jim's apartment where the team was waiting. He apologized if he was late, but Jim assured him it was alright, asking how he was. Paris assured him the dizziness was gone and that the headaches while still there, weren't as bad. Jim nodded before he began telling them that they were needed to help rescue a royal family. After their roles were explained, they all headed there, going their separate ways. Paris went with Tracy who had joined them for this mission as a psychic.
While Barney, Jim and Willie had a bigger role, Paris was just set to act as a magician and switch places with Nicolai, who was one of the princes that needed to be saved along with his cousin Francesca. With the help of a double agent, Paris was able to make the switch easy enough. At least that was after going to Francesca to tell her they were going to rescue her and the other prince Stephan. He had given her the bullet with the gun and the pill she had to take at her wedding. At least it would make her look like she had killed herself or he had killed her by accident. The magic show he was set to put on and switch with Nicolai went well until his dizziness returned with a vengeance.
After he had switched and waited for his que to come out of the tent as the prince, Paris had to hold onto the poles within the tent. He took deep breaths to get the dizziness under control before he came out, and watched the audience cheer at the trick. He was more than willing to sit down in his seat and motioned for Tracy to continue with the act. The rest of the magic show seemed to draw on forever until it was announced that the Bishop had arrived to marry Francesca to the evil General Sabattini.
To Paris, the wedding seemed to take forever until it was his que to point out she had a gun hidden in her flowers. He took the gun and faked a struggle with her, turned the gun around and shot her. She went down gently as he began crying that he had killed her. Everyone tried to console him, but he returned demanding she be buried. No one seemed to want to go against his wishes, so she was carried down to the crypt where she was placed in her tomb. He knew the rest of the mission was up to Jim and Barney to get the prince out, as well as her out of her tomb. His only job was to go back to his room full of clocks to wait until he was done. Which he hoped wasn't much longer since he barely could stand without his head pounding and the room shifting.
He got to his desk and sat there, his head in his hands wishing he could sleep forever. He actually had drifted off until he heard a knock on the door. He sat up too quickly grabbing onto the desk for support asking who it was. A guard entered with another clock remarking it was a present. He nodded and told him to put the clock down before getting out. He stared at the clock and went back to drifting trying to ignore all of the chimes. The room was filled with clocks and it was not helping his head. He tried to relax and drown them out, but for some reason he couldn't focus.
He managed an hour of sleep before he heard the knock at the door. He sat up slower this time and pretended to look happy around all the damn clocks. When Sabattini entered the room, Paris tried to hide his surprise wondering what was going on. Sabattini spoke to him a few minutes asking where Colonel Vargas was. Unaware, Paris shook his head watching as he started to leave the room remarking about stupid guards. It was then the clock from earlier exploded and Paris had only seconds to duck underneath the desk to avoid the blast. He blacked out, not waking until he felt his head cradled on someone's legs.
"The magician!" He heard Sabattini exclaim.
Paris cursed in his head when he realized the explosion had torn off his mask. It took him a few minutes to try and figure out what was going to happen. He watched Sabattini leave the room, his back bloodied from the bomb. Paris was yanked to his feet by the guards and he realized that his right leg was screaming in pain. He must have twisted it going down he thought as he was forced to walk and taken to a room where Tracy was being guarded. As he was forced to sit beside her, he could see from her worried expression that he didn't look well. He didn't need anyone to tell him though, his leg was throbbing and he swore it looked swollen. His headache was back with a vengeance, and his right side had been throbbing. He figured he would have a nice bruise there where he had fallen and hit the corner of the desk. He could see Tracy looking at him with concern and he knew if they were to get out of there alive, he had to take charge. He reached into his pocket slowly and grabbed the button that would bring Lucifer the falcon to him. It was only minutes before Lucifer flew through the open window scaring the guard.
Paris took that as his opportunity to knock out the guards. Tracy asked if he was alright in which he agreed he would be fine. She didn't believe him but didn't say anything either as he grabbed one of the guards. Together, they got out of the palace making it look like the guard was taking them to the prison, when the truth was, they were taking the guard. As he went along, Paris limping got better and he was able to push the pain to the back of his mind. Together in the car, they drove to the rendezvous spot waiting for Jim, and the others. When they were there, Paris let Tracy get into the van first before he got in, sitting down quickly so no one would think something was wrong.
That only lasted a matter of seconds before Jim was asking him if he was alright. Paris nodded, "I'm alright Jim, luckily the other guy got it worse than me."
"I have to say, you aren't looking great." Jim remarked.
"I know, but I look worse than I feel." Paris lied.
Jim nodded, "You should still get checked out by the doctor when we get back home."
"That's the first thing I'll do before getting some rest." Paris nodded.
Rest was actually the first thing he did when they got back home. He left the group and went straight to his apartment putting ice on his leg to try and get the swelling down. He didn't think it was broken, but knew he had twisted it bad enough. With some luck and ice, he would be able to walk as if nothing had happened. He passed out on his couch with his leg propped up and his hand against his right side trying to ease up the pain. He didn't wake up until the next morning, his stomach growling and his phone ringing. The swelling in his leg had gone down, although the ice he had, was all melted and nothing but water soaked in the towel he was using. He jumped off the couch and grabbed for the phone hearing Jim's voice on the other end.
Jim questioned if he was alright for another mission remarking, the next one was very serious. Paris, not wanting another mission, agreed knowing he couldn't let his teammates down. He told Jim he would be there shortly after he grabbed something out of his kitchen. Jim seemed to be fine with that as he hung up. Paris walked over to his kitchen relieved that he had some beagles which he grabbed a couple of, eating them as he walked to his car glad to find his leg wasn't hurting as badly and his side pain had left for the moment. By the time he got to Jim's place, he was feeling much better, he was walking without any limp, his headache was gone and his side pain had left. The food he had eaten made him full and was well ready for the next mission.
Jim explained the mission was simple, taking the king of Europe who was just a kid into hiding until they could show him that Aragis was actually out to kill him. The king had been fooled into thinking Aragis loved him but it was the other way around, he wanted the boy dead so he could take the throne. Paris along with Willie and their female agent Zorka was to dress as gypsies and transport the king that way. When they got to the area where they were to take the king, that part seemed easy. However after the king woke up from the accident they had staged, the king was not too happy. Paris tried to stay in character acting like a carefree gypsy but with the king acting like a royal brat, he wanted nothing else to do but smack him.
After a while of traveling, Paris was relieved to find the king liking them and listening to them more. Especially after the scare they had when the owner of a shop noticed the king dressed in a disguise of a female gypsy. They made quick work of getting him out of there and took him to the warehouse where they would await the major plan of getting Aragis to show his true colors. It was working well with Paris standing by with Aragis while Willie and Zorka had the king. What he didn't see was the guard ready to knock him out when he told Willie that it was a trap. His vision went black as he felt the blow on the back of his head and he hit the ground.
Jim had arrived with the Grand Duke who was there to take the king away until he was at the proper age to take over the throne of his country. The Grand Duke was more than relieved to see the young king safe, as he ordered his guards to take Aragis away. Willie and Zorka were glad that they had finished the mission but were alarmed when Jim asked where Paris was. They all realized that their friend hadn't come back after yelling that it was a trap. Right before they were to start searching, Barney came half carrying Paris against his side. They all rushed to Paris noticing he was looking a little pale.
"Paris!" Jim exclaimed at seeing his friend in such a state.
Paris winced at the noise, "Please Jim, not so loud. Stupid guard hit me hard and my head is hurting once again."
"We were worried." Zorka remarked.
"I'm fine, I just want to get back home and rest for a very long time." Paris commented.
Willie nodded, "That sounds like a great idea, we've had three missions back to back. Jim, you think we deserve a vacation?"
"I think we do, I'll turn down any missions if any comes up." Jim promised, "Paris, why not go to the embassy and get checked out by their doctor before meeting us back at the apartment until we head back home."
"I'll do that Jim." Paris assured them, not lying this time.
He was able to catch a ride with one of the guards to take him there and get checked out. However when he arrived at the embassy, he was a little agitated that the doctor was out. And when he inquired about when he would be back, they remarked he was in another town due to an outbreak. He wanted to scream out but knew it would hurt his headache and that he was starting to feel dizzy again plus his side was beginning to hurt once again. This time though it was worse and he felt cold even though the temperature outside was hot this time of year. He knew Doug was going to come and join them soon, so he decided just to wait until he could have Doug check him out.
He came out of the building and met the guard who thanked him for helping them once more. Paris assured him it was nothing as he caught a cab and told the driver which hotel to go to. On the way there, he was caught off guard as smoke began filling up the backseat and he realized that there were no handles on the inside. He should have seen that right away but figured with the headache, that he wasn't thinking straight. He hit the window but with the headache and dizziness he didn't have the strength to break it. He could only slump against the seat as the knockout gas hit him.
When he came too, he was in the back of a van, his hands tied in front of him. His headache was worse, and his stomach was churning with the motion of the van. He wished they would stop but when he heard a man speaking he tried to turn. He saw Robert Siommey who was nothing but trouble. What the hell was he doing there? Paris tried to clear his thoughts as he heard Robert speaking to someone that he had kidnapped Walter, the hotel guy. It was then it hit him, they thought he was the hotel guy. Paris agreed he looked similar to the man, but knew he wasn't Walter. His only hope though was they didn't find that out since it would mean certain death. He would just have to keep up the act until he could find a way to get a message to the team.
Hours later at the hotel, Willie, Doug and Barney was waiting in the room for Jim. Paris had yet to show up and Jim went to the embassy to see what was going on. When he was told that Paris had been kidnapped, he rushed back to the hotel to tell the others. They were all alarmed at the news but knew they would just have to wait until Paris got them a message telling them where he was being held. And then they could go in and get him out. They didn't have to wait long before they were getting a message over the radio for medicine for Walter, remarking he was very ill. They took that as a sign that Paris had sent them as they put a plan into action. Sending fake medicine to his location and tracking it.
With the help of the air force they were able to find his location and get in without being found. Barney, transforming into a guard, was able to sneak into the camp and find Paris in a cell still looking ill. Since he figured Paris was still pretending, he handed him a vial of liquid telling him if he drank it, he would look dead for fifteen minutes. Paris drank it down and laid back on the bed while Barney stood over him with a gun firing into the air. Siomney arrived after Barney had switched with the other guard, watching him check Paris over. After Carlos demanded Siomney give himself up, Barney took over a guard helping take Siomney and his guard to the point to hand him over to the embassy. And Paris's body which they had wrapped in a blanket.
At the point of taking them, Doug took over for Barney pulling Paris's body out of the van and putting something under his nose to wake him up. Jim and Willie waited beside them but all were alarmed when Paris didn't wake up. Doug checked Paris pupils cursing under his breath remarking they had to get him back to the hotel right away. Everyone jumped into action carrying their friend and putting him in the car where Willie wasted no time stepping on the gas pedal. They drove into town to the apartment but didn't dare speak until they got Paris up to the room.
As Doug was examining Paris, Jim and the others stood off waiting, "Why didn't he wake up?" Barney asked.
"Has Paris been hit on the head recently?" Doug asked.
Willie nodded, "Our last mission, he was hit and Barney found him unconscious."
"What's wrong Doug?" Jim questioned.
Doug sighed, "I'm afraid our friend is very ill. He's gotten a concussion from the knock to the head, which is why he isn't waking up. And I'm not sure how but he's got a nasty fever that I need to get under control."
"Just tell us what you need." Barney remarked.
"Water, and any towels you can find." Doug instructed, "I need to get him to wake up also."
Willie rushed off to get the towels and water while Barney stayed with Jim and Doug to get Paris to wake up. Doug shook him gently before smacking his face lightly in hopes to get him to wake up on his own. Although it took a few minutes, Paris finally opened his eyes, shutting them right back once he saw the bright light. He could hear Doug talking to someone but wasn't sure who. It took a moment before he realized he was talking to him and that he was supposed to open his eyes. He shook his head but stopped when that brought pain. Didn't his friends know his head hurt and the lights were too bright.
"Jim, close the blinds just a little bit." Doug ordered.
Jim stood up, closing the blinds halfway before coming back to Paris side, "It's alright now Paris, please open your eyes for Doug."
"Jim?" Paris asked, managing to open his eyes.
"Right here, Doug's going to examine you. He believes you have a concussion and you have a fever as well." Jim explained.
Doug went into doctor mode asking Paris some questions before he told him just rest, "I'm afraid he does have a concussion. Probably from the blow to the head, we just need to keep him comfortable and make sure he can wake up on his own for the next few hours. What worries me is that fever, it seems to be getting higher."
"Here's the towels and water Doug." Willie remarked coming back into the room, his arms full of towels overtop of a bowl of water.
"Thanks Willie." Doug smiled, taking one of the wet rags placing it on Paris forehead, "Paris, is there anything else hurting you?"
"Everything?" Paris spoke.
Doug shook his head glad that his friend could still joke, "I need you to be serious, you have a fever and I need to know where it is coming from."
"My right side, been hurting since the bomb went off. My leg hurts as well." Paris reached to touch his side.
Doug gently lifted his shirt, alarmed that Paris' right side was slightly swollen. He began putting pressure on the spot, only stopping when Paris screamed and tried to curl up. He frowned, "His appendix has ruptured, we need to get him to the hospital for emergency surgery."
Upon hearing the word hospital, Paris struggled away, "No, no I won't go…please Jim don't make me."
Jim frowned, knowing the reason for his fears but knew it had to happen, "Paris, listen to me, you have a appendix that needs to come out now or else you are going to die."
"No please Jim….I'll go on another mission, anything but hospital." He pleaded.
Willie stepped over, "Paris, we are all going with you."
"You won't be alone." Barney agreed.
"Promise?" Paris looked at everyone.
"Promise." Jim agreed.
"Alright I'll go." Paris agreed.
Doug nodded, "Let's go."
Willie picked Paris up carrying him down to the car while Doug called ahead to get a room prepared for operation. He was alarmed that with the fever and concussion, Paris would have a rough time, but if he waited much longer, than his friend wasn't going to make it. They arrived at the hospital with record speed and Doug had Willie put Paris on a gurney. Willie, Jim and Barney stayed back as Doug along with other doctor's wheeled Paris away from them. All they could do now was wait and see if Doug could save Paris.
Hours seemed to slow down for the three men until finally Doug came out covered in his doctor scrubs, "It was touch and go but Paris is going to be fine. He still has a slight fever but we are giving him medication for that. You can visit him in a few minutes."
"Thanks Doug." Jim let out a sigh of relief.
"Yeah thanks." Willie smiled.
Barney nodded, "I'm glad you are with us."
"I'll be back shortly once I've washed up and changed." Doug commented.
When Paris woke up, he was aware of a couple of things. One he didn't feel any pain, but still was cold and seemed to have an IV attached to his arm. The second thing was that he was in a hospital room alone. His childhood fear came back as he looked around trying to figure out where his friend's were. They promised to be there, but they weren't. Had something happened to them? He pulled the IV out of his arm as he began going through the halls. He didn't know this hospital and soon got lost. When his energy had left him, he curled up in a corner crying and shaking from the fever.
Doug had gone to check on Paris a few minutes after changing when he was alarmed to find the bed empty. He rushed to the waiting room telling his friends Paris had gotten out and they needed to find him now. Each split up going through the hospital hallways wondering how Paris had gotten away so quickly. Jim blamed himself since he knew Paris was terrified of hospitals from what happened when he was younger. As he came around a corner, he heard crying and was alarmed but relieved to find Paris sitting in the corner crying. He rushed over to his friend's side, reaching out gently to get his attention.
"Paris, easy it's Jim." Jim smiled.
"I'm sorry, I got scared and no one was there. It was like that time before." Paris shook uncontrollably.
"You aren't in trouble in Paris, but we need you back to your room. Your fever is climbing again and you need rest. We aren't going to leave you until you are released." Jim assured him.
"I'm sorry." Paris cried as he stood up with the help of Jim.
Jim frowned glad that no one else was seeing the strongest agent break down, "Hey it's alright I forgive you. It was an accident."
Paris seemed to accept that as he dried his eyes letting Jim take him back to his room before calling the others. Doug rushed into the room hooking the IV back up to his friend before he gave something to let Paris sleep. Willie and Barney stood off to the side knowing they weren't going to leave until he was back on his feet. Jim even contacted the IMF and let them know the situation relieved when they told him, no missions were coming his way for at least a week.
Paris was walking through the hallways of the hospital. He was lost and couldn't find any of his friends. Why had they left him alone when they promised? They had to be around there somewhere. He just had to find them no matter what. He continued to go through the empty hallways until a man jumped out from a room. He jumped back, but the man grabbed him holding him against the wall.
"Why are you here!" The man screamed.
"Please I'm trying to find someone." Paris shook his head.
"You are in my territory!" The man yelled.
"Let me go! I'm sorry!" Paris shouted.
"I'm sorry!" Paris yelled waking up.
"Easy Paris, it was just a nightmare." Jim assured him.
Paris eased against the bed realizing he felt better but wasn't sure what was going on, "What's happening?"
"You had you're appendix removed, it had burst when the bomb went off. You're in a hospital, but Doug agrees you can be released tomorrow." Barney smiled.
Doug entered the room, "Well look who's awake, good to see you on the side of the living. Thought we had lost you a few times."
"It's been a couple of days Paris." Willie explained seeing the confused look on his friend's face.
"Yes, but you're fever is gone and you are on the road to recovery." Jim assured him, "Just rest and soon you will get to go home."
"Good, hate hospitals." Paris remarked drifting off to sleep.
Doug checked his vitals before he turned to look at the team, "He's going to be just fine. In a few days he's going to be back to the emotionless Paris we know."
"Until then, we will stay with him just like the family he always wanted when he was a kid." Jim promised.
"Always together." Barney smiled.
"And ready to help when the family needs it." Willie smiled.
"Yes, we will never leave each other." Doug agreed.
"My….family." Paris muttered in his sleep.
"That's right Paris, you have a family now. One that will never leave or abandon you, no matter what." Jim smiled.
Together all four of them gathered around his bed holding onto his hand or shoulder. Just as they promised, they stayed with him until he was clear to leave the hospital. And then they returned to the hotel staying by his side until he threatened to kill them, if they didn't give him any peace. Each laughed and let him rest alone but knew it meant Paris loved them just as much as they loved him. And until they weren't agents any longer, they would remain his family forever and ever.
The End.
