Yanina thought she was getting the hang of guild life.
In all honesty it wasn't that much different from being a traveling mage. Guilds just got a lot of different jobs, which made a lot of sense. They were known around Fiore, unlike the traveling job boards where a random mage could pick up the job.
For the last week she had been bunking with Lucy and while it had been alright, her apartment was a little small. Perfect size for one person, but for two people? Yanina knew she needed her own place but had no clue where to look.
She had previously tried to get a room at Fairy Hills. Even though it was a little pricey for one room, it was her best chance at finding anything on such short notice. Though as she figured all the rooms were taken. There was no extra rooms until the add-ons were made, and Mirajane said that could take up to a year to complete. Which Yanina understood. Ever since they won the Grand Magic Games, the guild had been a hot spot. Everyone wanted to join, some new and old members who had once been a part of the guild before they had disappeared. So it was understandable that the housing would be taken. It sucked, but Yanina would live.
Searching for a place to live was a tiring experience. Sitting in the guild hall she was flipping through housing magazines, trying to find a place that wasn't so expensive. Either it was too expensive, or it was too much room for just her. Maybe she needed to find a roommate?
With a sigh she continued to flip through the pages, eyeing each of the housings. "Looking for a new place?" A voice piped up, causing Yanina to jump. She glanced up to see Cana standing there, her bottle of beer in hand as she joined Yanina at her table.
"Why is it so hard?" Yanina groaned as she flipped through the pages. "Either it's too expensive, or too much space for just me. I cannot seem to win! I like living with Lucy but her place is a bit cramped for the two of us..." She trailed off with a sigh.
Cana was quiet for a moment as she watched her friend flip through the pages. "How about we room together?" She asked out loud, causing Yanina to look up at her in surprise. Cana had been thinking about moving out of Fairy Hills, though she didn't know who she could room with. This was like the perfect opportunity to start looking for a new place.
"What, really?" Yanina asked, blinking. She had found a few houses for rent that she really adored, but they had been too expensive for just her. If she had a roommate she could easily pay for rent, and most of these houses were two or three bedrooms. So it made sense to have a roommate to help pay for the rent and other costly bills.
"Sure! I've never had a roommate before and plus, having a bigger place sounds awesome! I can practice my card magic there without being interrupted!" Plus other stuff, but no need to bring that up. Cana was a master at sneaking around.
Yanina sighed in relief. "Oh thank the Gods, because I was thinking I'd lost hope and would have to live going on multiple jobs all the time just to pay rent..." She chuckled faintly. She didn't think finding a roommate would be this easy but then again, this was Fairy Tail.
Cana snickered at that. "Yeah, that would get annoying. Don't you have a savings from traveling though?" She questioned with a tilt of her head.
"A little bit," Yanina nodded her head. She didn't really have a bank, you needed an address for that so she had a special pouch that she learned to re-equip. She had to learn something in order to protect her funding. However that was really the only thing she was able to re-equip. She knew that she could probably learn others if she really wanted to, but she learned that out of desperation.
"We can use that to help start us out! I have a little bit, but when we were on the Island for seven years I had to pay my rent that I missed. So that kind of drained my savings..." Cana trailed off with a wince. Yanina had heard about some of the members being lost on an Island for seven years, and being saved by the guilds first master. That had been a strange story to hear - but very intriguing.
"Well if we're going to be roommates we should start looking for a place to live! I have a few places marked out in this magazine that I found." And with that the girls put their heads together in order to find somewhere to live. Soon they found a cute little two story house near the guild that was up for rent. Something they could both easily afford.
It didn't take long for the two girls to call the owner. They were immediately let in after announcing that they were from Fairy Tail, and were able to get a look inside the house on that day.
Walking down towards the house, the owner was right outside. A middle-aged woman stood there with a bright smile on her face - velvet-y maroon colored hair trailed down her shoulders in a serene wavy style. She seemed to be a nice, natured woman as she beamed at the girls. "Hello, Yanina and Cana?" She inquired with a tilt of her head. When both of the girls nodded the older woman grinned. "Nice to meet you, Fairies. I'm Sonya Glider. I'm glad you inquired about the place, I had almost lost hope of ever renting it..." She trailed off with a chuckle.
"No one wanted to rent?" Yanina was surprised as she looked at the house. It was a cute little white house with a modern-vintage feel on the outside. It had bushes lining up beside the door as decoration, with pretty pink flowers blooming from it.
"I had to lower the rent, and even then no one wanted to rent the place." She stated sadly, sighing. "I just needed something to make some Jewel for my ailing grandmother. You see, she's in the hospital right now and her bills are pretty expensive. I figured renting my fathers old place would help with bills." Yanina felt a pang in her heart at the story.
"Well, let us see the place then!" Cana grinned to hide the chill she had. She wanted to see the inside to make sure it matched up with the pictures on the magazine.
"Oh of course, of course!" Sonya sang, brandishing the keys in her hands. "Come in!" Unlocking the door, Sonya moved so the girls could get a look inside. Yanina glanced around in awe of the house. It was so pretty on the inside with oak wooden flooring. There was a hallway and as soon as you entered the house stairs lead up to the top floor, which Yanina suspected where the bedrooms were.
Walking down the hallway was an open kitchen with beautiful marble counters and matching oak-wood cabinets. A nice stove and sink, with a beautiful silver refrigerator sitting beside the sink. And a nice open-concept for the living room.
Yanina glanced over at Cana, who was also in awe of the house. Yanina had fallen in love with the house and didn't want to let it go.
Cana glanced over at her and they had a silent agreement. Without having to see much more of the house they both turned to face the owner, who had a knowing look on her face. "We'll take the place. How soon can we move in?"
