STRAWBERRY MEMORIES- ICHIGO NO KIOKU

Chapter IX

"White, paint...you"

I do not own death note.

Cry, little Kleis

You gotta cry for the two of us,

and all over the world, if you still have tears.

And in the end, when you will know that in the world

there are no more tears to shed,

cry about your life.

Only then, perhaps, will you be happy.

Only then the time

will stop its long sequence of horrors

to let you choose

the gift that will help you to live.

Even if we can't even conceive this hope.

Cry, daughter.

Cry, cry.

"Sappho"

"We have arrived."

L closed the door behind him while Misa looked around attentively.

Before entering, she promised herself that she would analyze every corner of the room, but when she entered she was very disappointed.

"But Eru, this room is completely empty! There is only one bed and one computer on the ground ..."

"I know, I was the one who removed all the furniture, the empty rooms are relaxing."

"I don't agree with you, I'm scared from them, Eru chan." The girl replied, shivering.

L approached her, curious to peer at the actress's face.

"And why should they scare you?"

Misa lowered her sad look.

"Let's say that the last time I saw an empty room, it wasn't just the furniture that was gone forever ..."

Misa still clearly remembered the smell of fresh paint and new celophan.

She remembered very well the white walls like the faces of her dead parents.

She also remembered the scared face of her sister, and the model at that time was afraid that even on her face all that suffering would show through.

She hated to let her emotions traspired, it didn't sound like her.

It didn't sound like Misa Misa.

And that room smelled not only of fresh paint, it smelled of loss, it smelled of death, of loneliness ...

Those beautiful white walls hid a crime, that crime that played hide and seek on that clear surface, carrying its acrid smell with it.

Actually that white wall seemed to be impregnated with blood and the smell of this pierced her skin and made her sick.

Misa wondered if even her face was nothing more than a shadow of that wall, a face strewn with loss, death, loneliness. Because that was how she felt.

"When your parents died, did you feel alone?"

Misa raised her face and immediately met his piercing black eyes.

For all that time she had self-pityed but only in that moment, only with that look had she realized that she was not the only one to feel so alone, Eru too was completely alone in the world.

But while she had spent her whole life pampered by the love of her family, he probably had never had one, he had never been embraced. Perhaps that thing about his concentration and the 40% less intellect was just a lie and in reality L put himself in that squatting position to compensate for that void of hugs he never had...

"And you, Eru? Do you feel lonely?"

She asked seriously, getting a little closer to him.

L immediately showed on his firmness as an expert detective.

"You shouldn't answer a question with another question Mis ..."

But the boy did not have the time to finish because the model, suddenly, had put her arms around his neck and had throwed herself to his chest crying.

"Don't feel alone Eru chan ... Misa is here for you."

L's eyes widened in amazement.

He didn't think he needed that, at least he didn't think it until a few seconds before... Misa's small body gave off heat, yet he couldn't understand how that small body could warm his chest so easily.

"I will let you know affection and friendship if I can ... because even if Misa has lost her family forever it is worse never to know love and not suffer at all, than to know it and lose it forever."

L softened his gaze and tried to peer into the girl's face. With such surprise he found that she was crying.

He detached the small body from his slowly and smiled at her.

"I've never seen anyone cry ..."

Misa smiled slightly, their worlds were colliding slowly and they are almost touched eachother.

He put his hand close to the girl's blushed cheek, and once resting on that wet white skin, he withdrew it to put his finger in his mouth.

"They taste like salt, as everyone says ..." He whispered to himself, widening his eyes.

"I don't like salt." He went on to say addressing the girl.

"But Eru chan! I can't have sugar's tears! "

Misa replied amused, crossing her arms.

"Maybe they could become like that if Misa chan started smiling again."

The model showed her tongue amused, it was incredible how with his naive and somewhat weird jokes, he always managed to make her forget all her worries.

"But if I smile, I cant cry Eru! One thing or another ...not both."

"In my opinion you could do it," he replied, returning to his panda gaze.

"As an actress surely ..." The model replied with some pride.

"I was talking about the real Misa."

The girl stopped laughing and looked again at L.

Nobody had ever talked about the real Misa.

She was Misa Misa, or simply Amane, for everyone.

Suddenly that hint of warmth she had felt when she had embraced that overgrown child had spread all over her chest.

Only with her parents she was the real Misa.

Only with them she was herself.

"That's not true Eru, you've already seen me cry when we were kids."

She said suddenly, looking up at him again.

"Those weren't real tears, they were the tears of a fikle little girl."

The boy replied confidently. "Misa chan has grown up, while Eru chan is still childish."

He finished saying in his usual listless tone.

"That's not true, Misa chan too is childish!" The model replied spiteful.

"You're wrong, you just play your acting role, but the real Misa is this." He replied impassively.

"For example, I hate losing, Kira hates losing too, that's why we're both very childish ..."

His gaze returned to being directed upwards, and his thumb reached the lower lip.

"I am very interested in that boy. I want to understand why he is like that, if he really is himself or not ... "he said suddenly, not knowing how to stay more than half an hour without talking about Kira.

"And you, why are you like this?" Misa approached him again. L was impressed by her question, he putted his finger on his chin and after a while answered her.

"Because I never go out, I think ... I see the world through that."

He went on pointing to the computer.

Misa laughed, apparently the best detective in the world had no problem analyzing others, but never did it with himself.

"Then you're like him." Misa simply answered looking at him calmly.

L looked at her curiously.

"He too sees the world through a lens, but that lens is his thoughts. When a target is too intense it only acts as a blinker..."

She whispered more to herself than to him, surely Rem would have definitely supported her thoughts, since she had to fight with her crazy plans every day.

"In my opinion Eru chan and Light chan are the same person, two sides of the same coin ... but as positive and positive they can never touched one another."

Misa finished saying, happy to have just started studying chemistry the day before at the university, let's say it was one of the things she liked most, it seemed mystical ... like the horoscope.

"Misa is not at all childish." L commented eyes widened.

"Ugh! Yes she is! " the model screamed starting to jump.

"It's not fair, Eru chan always throw stones without responses!"

"That's why I'm childish for real."

He replied impassively, heading for the computer.

"Now let's get to work, I wouldn't want Misa chan to lose her job for a couple of dark shades under her eyes ..."

«Look, I'm telling the truth when I complain that I might not pose because of the dark circles under my eyes, Misa's work is very tiring!"

"I've never been fired because of my eyes." He commented with his hands already on the keyboard.

"But you don't model Eru chan!"

She laughed as she approached him.

"I don't consider myself unattractive." He replied by opening a file.

Misa was silent for a moment and she suddenly blushed, she had to bite her tongue in order to not tell him that, yes, he was right, he wasn't ugly at all: he was the most cute and attractive panda boy she had ever seen ...

"Did I say something wrong Misa chan? However I need the microphone may you pass it to me, please?"

He asked without giving her time to answer.

"Er...yes of course ..."

The girl answered after a few seconds.

She was so thoughtful that she didn't even bother to turn around to remove the microphone from her bra.

Only when she saw L's face getted red as a lobster for the first time and his eyes widened, Misa realized of how she had slipped off of her perfect cleavage that little microphone.

The girl remained with her hand in midair as the spike of the microphone dangled solitary between her small fingers, while L was still totally immobilized by the embarrassment.

After a few seconds, Misa awakens and let out one of her hysterical screams.

"PERVERT!" She shouted, suddenly pushing away the poor guy, who fell miserably on the ground with his knees still on his chest.

In the meantime, the model had got up covering her breasts.

"Damn it, what a dumb I am, how can I be so ..."

After a while that L didn't move at all, Misa get worried a little and feeling guilty she leaned towards the poor fellow.

"Eru, are you okay? Did I hurt you?"

L looked at her apparently without expression.

Then, despite himself, he opened his mouth.

"I told you that Misa chan has grown up."

About 10 minutes later they were finally working on the Kira case, it seemed like a normal scene apart from the fact that Misa was holding some ice on L's eye, and that the latter complained occasionally about the pain.

"Come on, it's not that bad Eru chan, you already had black eyes."

"Now one of them it's purple." He reminded her seriously.

"Besides, I didn't say anything bad, just the truth." He finished saying with a painful groan.

"You should keep controlled your sincerity a little more, Eru chan."

Misa smiled trying not to hurt him with the ice.

"Why should I say something that's not true? It does not make sense."

He replied in a grimace.

"Because the whole world does so."

Misa replied turning serious.

"If someone tells a lie and the whole world accepts it, does it become a truth?"

He asked turning to the girl, heedless of the ice that was about to get out of her hand.

"Well no ... but there are some things that is better you do not tell to a girl."

She replied, raising her face proudly.

"Ok, but then you'll turn around next time or put it in a more appropriate place."

He said as he going back to work on the computer.

"Damn it! Eru chan is always good for a quote!" She complained, taking the ice out of spite.

"I'm the one who's right."

He replied impassively.

"So give me back the ice."

"No, because Misa didn't do it on purpose, while Eru chan is a pervert ..."

She replied, crossing her arms in annoyance.

"I'm not a pervert, Kira would have already killed me, I'm just a man."

He finished saying quietly as he started typing again on the keyboard with his long fingers.

Of course she already knew it but ... she didn't think he realized it too... shit! what type of thoughts had came to her? Of course he was a man, he wasn't a robot though!

And then looking back on it, she was flattered underneath like any woman who managed to make someone like Eru chan blush!

She was happy because ... because ... he liked Misa too!

"Then you don't like just sweets!"

She exulted, making the poor guy stop to written again.

Misa laughed.

"Eru chan you're too funny!"

L didn't answer for a while, but after they had finished to work and it was time to finally go to sleep, he had his own revenge ...

"Good night Misa, remember to get out of the back, there is a black car waiting for you there... "

"Don't worry, I'll do as you said, see you tomorrow Eru chan!"

"Ah Misa wait ..."

He suddenly stopped her before she opened the door.

"Yes?"

"A strawberry smoothie eh!"

Author little corner:

As for the initial poem, it is not a poem, but a tragedy based entirely on the solitude of power. This is the final act: after so much suffering, Sappho cannot say anything more to his daughter Kleis than to "cry", humanity's most effective liberating tool (the Greeks know something about it xD). We could have replaced the name of Kleis with that of Misa who after so long in this chapter melts and shows the true part of herself. Part that only his parents and L saw. And L himself says that only her would be able to cry and laugh at the same time, because loneliness and love for me comes together like tears and laughter. Anyway they are both alone in the world, despite the fact that she is the model most known of Japan and he is the most famous detective on the planet. Both know very well what it means to be lonely and famous/powerfull at the same time. ^. ^

After this reflectioncompletely out of place I run away. xD
