Hi everyone! PrimroseRaspberry here, and welcome to my second fanfiction story! Frankly, I'm a bit surprised no one's done a Miraculous/Star Darlings crossover yet, because both shows contain magic, adventure, funny parts, and drama amongst older girls; plus, there are so many characters from Miraculous that would make excellent wishers, and whom the Star Darlings could relate to in one way or another. I'm not saying anyone has to make a story like that; it's just my honest opinion.
There are so many adventures I can imagine the Star Darlings having with the citizens and superheroes of Paris, and I'm planning to write about them sooner or later. But there is one citizen of Paris that I personally believe needs Star Darling help more than anyone. Who is that citizen, you may be wondering? Well, the first chapter of my story says it all.
Note: This chapter takes place right after the Star Darlings short episode, "Piper Dreams."
Chapter 1
Piper closed her eyes, a soft, serene smile on her face. This was more like it. The environment around her was filled with peace and quiet. She breathed a long sigh, and all of the stress that had built up inside her faded away.
It had been very difficult to find a place to meditate tonight. With Vega complaining about being stressed with her studies, Leona singing, and Libby talking about pink parties, Piper hadn't had much tranquility. But now that she'd used her emotion manipulation skills on Libby, they were meditating together.
The two Starlings remained in the glorange tree forest for many minutes (or starmins, as everyone on Starland called them), and slowly, the meditation reached its conclusion. Piper and Libby, now feeling more relaxed, made their way back to their school's Cosmic Transporter, which took them back to their dorm rooms. While Libby reunited with her roommate Gemma to begin a conversation about starmazing topics, Piper entered her dorm room and discovered her own roommate was asleep. Not in her bed as usual, but at her desk, her head resting on a holo-book.
Piper sighed. Vega hadn't been kidding when she'd said her classes were stressing her out. It wasn't a starprise that she placed so much time into her schoolwork; Vega had always been quite the perfectionist, especially when it came to grades. There were occasions where she was a little too focused on her classes, like the time she got upset because Leona received a higher grade in Aspirational Art than she did, but none of those moments had been quite this stressful. It probably had something to do with final exams coming up soon; Piper had never seen her roommate so overworked before.
As she climbed into her bed and slipped a sleeping mask over her eyes, Piper wondered if there was anything she could do to help Vega. She clearly needed a break, but just couldn't seem to find the opportunity to take one.
At breakfast, the Star Darlings were deep in conversation. Tessa had left Starland for her second Wish Mission two nights ago, and her teammates (especially her overly chatty sister Gemma) were all hoping she was doing well. However, even with such starmendously huge matters to discuss, it didn't take the others long to realize Vega seemed a little more anxious than usual. Cassie and Adora were both quick to guess that she was overwhelmed by her schoolwork.
"Maybe you should take a break," suggested Scarlet.
"No," wailed Vega, "I can't just skip class! I have to review for our Wish Theory exam, and I've got to get an A in Aspirational Art—starf, I can't be late!" She got up and ran out of the Celestial Café, leaving her breakfast only half-finished.
"But class doesn't start for another ten starmins," Clover remarked, checking the time.
"Vega's definitely overworked," stated Sage.
"Moons and stars!" Gemma exclaimed, "We have to help her catch a break!"
"She doesn't have to go to class," Scarlet said, "She can just relax in her room and get the rest she needs."
"No way, Scarlet," replied Leona, "That might work for you, but it won't work for her. She's just gonna study no matter where she is."
"If I can disappear without a star-trace, so can she," Scarlet insisted. She and Leona got face-to-face, ready to intensify their argument.
"You're both right," Libby cut in, "I think a day off would be good for Vega, but she's not going to accept one. You know how much she cares about her grades."
Piper thought for a bit. "Whenever I meditate, the environment around me helps me clear my mind. The quiet, the serenity…" She sighed, a distracted and dreamy smile on her face.
"Yes," said Astra, "and your point is?"
"My point is that if Vega takes a break in the right environment, one that won't remind her of her schoolwork, then it'll calm her the way my meditations calm me."
"I say we send her to the hedge maze," said Clover. Everyone nodded in agreement. They knew how much Vega loved the hedge maze. Going in there and finding their way through it drove every other student crazy, but it didn't bother the puzzle-solving perfectionist one bit. Travelling through the hedge maze had always helped Vega clear her mind and calm her, and there was nothing in there that could possibly remind her of schoolwork.
"I already tried that suggestion when we woke up," Piper said apologetically, "She said she has too much studying to do and can't let herself be distracted."
All the Star Darlings gasped. "She did?" Gemma gasped, "That's so unlike her! She loves the hedge maze! She's the only Starling who loves it, actually. But still! How could she avoid the hedge maze just because she…"
As Gemma droned on and on and on, the other Starlings nervously eyed one another. If the hedge maze wasn't going to de-stress Vega, than what would?
Suddenly each of the Star Darlings' Star Zaps vibrated. Picking them up, the girls saw they had all received the same message: report to Lady Stella's office immediately. Quickly they got out of their chairs and went toward the exit, trying to be as casual as possible so the other students wouldn't get suspicious. After all, they weren't supposed to know that twelve of the students at Starling Academy were given the chance to go to Wishworld before graduation. That was a secret between the Star Darlings, their headmistress Lady Stella, and some of the staff members. Not even the girls' families knew.
Vega met up with her friends at Lady Stella's office door, and in they went. Together they sat at the circular table in the middle of the room—the one reserved just for them—and glanced at one another, trying to figure out why they'd been summoned to the office. Tessa's seat was empty and no one had seen her yet today, so Gemma assumed she was still on Wishworld.
"Maybe she needs help with her mission," Libby suggested, and everyone instantly agreed. Every time a Star Darling needed help on her Wish Mission, this was exactly how every help-summoning began; the other eleven Star Darlings were called to the office, and Lady Stella would allow the wish orb to choose which one of them would travel to Wishworld and lend a hand.
"Who do you think will be chosen to help Tessa?" Gemma asked. Within a starsec, she and everyone else were deep in discussion, each of them wanting to be the one to help Tessa. Well, except for Cassie; she was never too keen on things when someone was about to be chosen for a Wishworld journey.
Before long, Lady Stella entered the room, looking calm but noticeably worried. The Star Darlings fell silent, realizing at once that something serious had happened.
"Star greetings," said Lady Stella.
Gemma perked up. "What's going on? Is Tessa in trouble?"
"No," Lady Stella said, "Tessa is fine. She was able to complete her Wish Mission and gather enough Wish Energy without any problems. But…I'm afraid a different kind of problem happened while she was on her way back to Starland. Something that has never happened before."
"What kind of problem?" Adora inquired.
"Well," explained Lady Stella, "Tessa's wisher happens to live in Paris, a Wishworld city that's currently being terrorized by a mind-controlling villain known as Hawk-Moth. The wisher was placed under his influence shortly after making her wish, but she was restored to normal by two Wishling superheroes. After that, Tessa was able to help the wisher without any interference."
"But what does that have to do with the problem?" asked Vega.
"Someone else was placed under Hawk-Moth's control while Tessa was preparing to go back to Starland," said Lady Stella, "The victim gained super strength as a result, and he threw a Wishling into the sky just as Tessa's shooting star took off. The Wishling landed inside the star just before it left the atmosphere, and by then it was too late to turn back."
At that moment, Tessa entered the office. She was okay, but on her face was a mixture of guilt and worry. Coming in behind Tessa was a teenage girl none of the Star Darlings had ever seen before. The girl had short orange hair with a white headband and round dark glasses. She was wearing a white shirt, a purple vest, a black bow tie, cyan shorts, brown tights, and white shoes. The girl would have easily blended in with the students at Starling Academy, except for two obvious differences: her hair and skin didn't sparkle like theirs did, and her clothes looked too dull to be Starling clothes.
"Star apologies," Tessa said anxiously, "but there is now a Wishling on Starland." Everyone gasped. While it was the Star Darlings' job to make their wishes come true, Wishlings weren't supposed to know about Starland. Lady Stella had made the reason for that clear: if Wishlings found out about the Starlings' ability to grant wishes, they would start wishing for things a lot more often. Most of the wishes would be for personal gain.
"Um," the Wishling nervously asked them, "what are you guys talking about? Where am I?" Her eyes widened in fear, and she added, "Are you working for Hawk-Moth?"
"No," said Gemma, before Tessa could shush her, "we're on your side. As long as you're not working for Hawk-Moth.
"Oh goodie!" exclaimed the Wishling. "Then we're on the same side. I'm Sabrina Raincomprix. What are your names?"
The Star Darlings looked at Lady Stella, unsure of what to do. "Just be yourselves," she told them, "We'll figure out what to do all in due time."
Sage nodded and then stood up with a friendly smile. "Star greetings, Sabrina. I'm Sage. This is Lady Stella, Cassie, Libby, Scarlet, Vega, Leona, Tessa, Gemma, Adora, Piper, Clover, and Astra."
"Star greetings," everyone said. Sabrina chuckled. "You sure seem to like stars. And look at your outfits! You must be soooo rich! Even Chloe doesn't have outfits that fancy. She's going to be so jealous!"
"Who's Chloe?" Leona asked.
Sabrina looked starprised. "You don't know my BFF? Her daddy is the mayor of Paris and her mom's the fanciest fashion queen in the world! Everyone knows who Chloe is!"
"Sorry," said Astra, "but we've never been to Paris before."
"Well you should totally go there," said Sabrina, "I'd be happy to give you a tour! Unless Chloe refuses, but I'm sure she'll agree when she finds out how fancy your outfits are! By the way, can you show me what shampoo you used to make your hair look so sparkly? I've got to show Chloe how it's done!"
As the starday went on, the Star Darlings introduced Sabrina to their life on Starland and how it all worked. Lady Stella figured out a plan a little later, and she explained it to the Star Darlings when Sabrina was busy in Libby's sparkle shower, trying to make herself and her clothes look sparkly. The plan was simple: once a shooting star was caught by the star wranglers, one of the Star Darlings was to use it and take Sabrina back to Wishworld. As for her memories of her experience on Starland, the chosen Starling would just hug her; every time the Star Darlings gave their Wishers goodbye hugs, it automatically erased their memories of them. If it worked on the Wishers, it would definitely work on Sabrina too.
When Sabrina came out of the sparkle shower, there was glitter all over her, and she looked much more refreshed. Apart from the layout of her clothes, she looked a lot more like a Starling.
"Maybe you should try on some Starling outfits," suggested Adora, "Then you can see how you'd look if you were a student here like us."
Sabrina jumped up in excitement, and Sage sighed. Despite the fact that Wishlings weren't supposed to know about Starland, she along with the other Star Darlings really enjoyed having fun with this girl. From what she'd told them about her life back home, Sabrina seemed like a nice Wishling. The only problem with her was that she tried a little too hard—okay, a lot too hard—to impress a Wishling named Chloe; even harder than when Libby tried too hard to impress, well, everyone. And Chloe…well, she sounded even worse than Vivica, Starling Academy's meanest student, and that was really saying something.
But apart from that, Sabrina was a good friend. The Starlings were sure going to miss her when they brought her back home. Sage almost wished they didn't have to erase Sabrina's memories of her Starland adventure, but she knew they had no choice. If Sabrina kept her memories, she would go and tell Chloe, and then Chloe would try to control the Starlings' lives, just like she was controlling Sabrina's. How Sabrina even was friends with that spoiled Wishling, Sage had a feeling she would never understand.
Tessa and Adora led Sabrina to their dorm room. Gemma skipped after them, grabbing an orange star-studded dress out of her wardrobe on the way out. "Can you try this on first? Orange is my favourite colour, and your hair is orange, so I think it'll look starmendous on you…"
Sage chuckled and then glanced at the remainder of her fellow Star Darlings. Leona was singing to herself, probably practicing so she could give Sabrina a performance, and Libby, Clover, and Astra were listening to her. Cassie, Scarlet, and Piper were nervously watching Vega, who had opened a holo-book and was studying feverishly.
"Vega," Cassie said kindly, "don't you think we should save the studying for later?"
"No," said Vega in a frantic tone, "I HAVE to get this right, I can't fail any of my—"
Astra took the holo-book out of Vega's hand. "That's it," she told her, "You need a break, and you're not gonna get yourself out of it."
"GIVE THAT BACK!" Vega yelled. She grabbed the holo-book, but Astra held on tight. As the two of them fought over the holo-book, Cassie sighed and shook her head. She went over and directed Sage, Libby, Scarlet, Piper, Clover, and Leona into the sparkle shower room.
Once the door was closed, Cassie eyed each of her friends with a serious face. "We have to do something about Vega's stress. She can't go on like this!"
"She needs more than just a break," declared Leona, "She needs a vacation."
"But where can she…" Scarlet's voice trailed off as a thought crossed her mind. Then, within a matter of starsecs, a crafty and mischievous smile came onto her face. Sage froze. She herself had worn that expression many times before. It was the kind of expression that meant only one thing: the Starling wearing it was coming up with a plan that was so crazy, it would most likely mean breaking some school rules.
Clover, who looked more nervous than anyone else did, trembled a little. "Scarlet…what do you have in mind?"
Scarlet seemed to enjoy her plan so much, she smiled and even paused for dramatic effect. "I think that for seven stardays…Vega should switch places with Sabrina."
Oh boy…what will her friends think? Will Scarlet's plan work? Will it benefit Sabrina as well? Chapter 2 coming soon!
Many things actually inspired me to write this story. One was Vega's complaining scene in Piper's episode, and another was the classical tale of The Prince & The Pauper. Plus, there's also what happens every time I watch a Miraculous episode with Sabrina in it: no matter how mean Chloe is to her or anyone, she still ends up siding with her! There was even that time I watched "Miraculer" with my mother, and in the bee signal scene, she was like, "Why is she still friends with her?" And when I saw the scene in "Sole Crusher" where Sabrina was literally running after Chloe's limo with a big suitcase instead of just riding with her, I knew it instantly; Sabrina needs a visit from the Star Darlings more than anyone. And if even Marinette couldn't get through to her, then that visit would have to be unlike any other—in the most magical way possible. I hope you guys enjoy what's coming next!
Please feel free to leave reviews regarding what you thought. :) I'll see you soon in the next chapter…
