Hi everyone! The second chapter's ready at last. It's time to find out what Scarlet's friends will think of her idea. Will they agree to it? Let's see…
Chapter 2
"What?!"
"It'll help them both," insisted Scarlet, "Vega won't have to be so stressed out anymore, and Sabrina can grow up and realize there's more to friendship than serving people."
"No way we can do that, Scarlet," said Clover, "You heard Lady Stella. Sabrina is supposed to go straight back to Wishworld as soon as the star wranglers catch a shooting star!"
"Actually," Sage said, thinking it over, "I think Scarlet's plan might work. Vega and Sabrina have the same hairstyles and similar faces. They're even the same height. We just have to use our Star Zaps to switch their hair colours and clothes, and then we can teach Sabrina how to talk like a Starling. Then, when the star wranglers catch a shooting star, Vega will just get on it instead of Sabrina."
Piper nodded, catching on. "While Vega relaxes on Wishworld, Sabrina can spend time with us and learn the meaning of true friendship."
"And then," Libby finished, "Sage and Gemma can use their Wish Energy Manipulation skills to sneak Sabrina onto another shooting star once everyone's asleep, and after erasing her memories, Vega can use the same shooting star to get back to Starland!"
Scarlet smiled. "So…you're all in?" Sage, Piper, and Libby nodded, but their friends still looked uncertain.
"I don't know," said Cassie, "Even if she wasn't overworked, Vega wouldn't be able to handle missing class for that long."
"Sabrina can take notes for her," said Sage, "And for the classes where she needs to use wish energy to get things done," she turned to Clover and Piper as she said this, "you two and Astra can help her out without anyone knowing the difference."
"What about band rehearsals?" Leona asked, "What do we do if Sabrina can't play the bass? And even if she can, Vega's so much better at it! If Vivica walks in on us again, she would know the difference right away!"
"We'll only have to do one band rehearsal without Vega," Libby reminded her.
"Alright," said Leona with obvious reluctance, so Scarlet turned to Cassie and Clover. "Are you two in?"
"I think it's too risky," said Clover, "Besides, there's also a chance Tessa, Adora, Gemma, and Astra won't agree to it."
Everyone turned to Cassie, who gulped. She agreed with Clover, but at the same time she wanted to help Vega. At this point, Scarlet's idea seemed to be the only thing that would work. So, to be fair, she said, "Let's tell them about the plan, and then we'll all vote. If enough Star Darlings vote for Scarlet's plan, we'll stick to it."
"Deal," said Scarlet, and she and Cassie put their foreheads together to confirm the compromise. After that, Sage sent Astra, Tessa, Adora, and Gemma holo-messages, asking them to meet up in the Lightning Lounge. As for Vega and Sabrina, they were simply told to remain in Libby's dorm room until further notice.
Once the girls were in the Lightning Lounge, Scarlet explained her plan again, with Sage, Libby, and Cassie providing the pros and cons about it. Much to Scarlet's starmazement, Astra, Tessa, Gemma, and Adora all thought it was a good and well-processed idea, and they all voted for it. Sage, Libby, and Piper agreed to the plan as well, forcing Leona, Cassie, and Clover to reluctantly go along with it.
"Okay," said Sage, "Now we just have to tell Vega and Sabrina about the plan and switch their appearances."
Scarlet groaned. "The hard part of the plan."
"It won't be as hard," reassured Piper, "If Vega disagrees out of stress, I can always use my emotion-changing powers on her."
It took a lot of convincing (and Piper's powers), but Vega eventually agreed to the plan. "But promise me that you'll record everything that happens in class on my Star Zap," she told Sabrina (Vega recorded her lessons every day).
"Don't worry Vega," said Sabrina, who had willingly agreed to the plan the moment they discussed it, "I won't miss a single detail."
Vega took a deep breath and pulled out her Star Zap, accessing its Outfit Selector. Studying Sabrina closely, she replaced her own outfit with one that looked identical to hers, and then gave her Wish Pendant belt to Sabrina. In return, Sabrina handed over her headband and glasses, which Vega put on. Next, Vega concentrated on her ocean blue hair, allowing it to turn orange. She then gave her Star Zap to Sabrina and helped her change her outfit and hair so they looked just like hers originally did.
Standing back and locking eyes with Sabrina, Vega did the last step required: reciting the magic words. "Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight." Once she was finished speaking, all the sparkles on Vega's hair and skin flew off of her and onto Sabrina, thereby completing each of their transformations.
"OMS," exclaimed Gemma, "you look exactly like each other!"
"It's like staring in a mirror," Sabrina said in awe as she looked Vega up and down, "You're so cool!"
Tessa checked her Star Zap. "Still no holo-message about the star wranglers."
"Okay," said Vega, a little nervous. Turning to Sabrina, she asked, "Are you sure you're going to remember to record each class?"
"Of course," said Sabrina confidently, "I won't let you down."
"Anything she should know about your life before she lives it for the next few stardays?" Astra asked her.
"Well, there are some things Chloe will probably ask her to do that I should prepare her for," Sabrina replied. To Vega, she said, "First of all, Chloe always wants me to do her homework for her. You can use my office. It's in Chloe's wardrobe, so you'll have to do our work in the dark."
Vega groaned. Homework wasn't anything she couldn't handle, and the kind Sabrina did probably wasn't as stressful as her own upcoming exams, but still. Why couldn't Chloe just do her own homework?
"And if she asks you to help her make fun of anyone," added Sabrina, albeit reluctantly, "just play along. She always gives me fancy dresses, really nice hats, and neat accessories as a reward! None of them are as fancy as the ones here though."
Scarlet let out a loud groan—the kind of groan she let out whenever Libby talked nonstop about boys, parties, shoes, and pink, and whenever Gemma talked nonstop about, well, everything.
"Also," said Sabrina, "make sure you carry my suitcase with you at all times. It contains anything Chloe might need in a terrible situation. You know, like a hair emergency or something."
Scarlet groaned again, a little louder this time. Her friends tried to ignore her, but many of them agreed with her. Hair emergencies weren't really emergencies!
"And finally," concluded Sabrina, "if she takes off without you in her limo when it's time to go to school, she's not abandoning you. It just means she wants you to run after her limo the whole way to school."
"What the stars?" Gemma shouted. Tessa, who normally elbowed her or told her to be quiet at times like these, just nodded in agreement. Scarlet just kept quiet. She hadn't expected that to be one of Chloe's expectations of Sabrina; even Vivica wasn't cruel enough to do such a thing. Suddenly Vega was starting to think taking a vacation and switching places with Sabrina wasn't such a bad idea after all. This girl clearly had a much more stressful life than her, but the worst part was that she didn't seem to think it was even a bad thing! If Vega could just get Chloe to start acting like a real friend, then maybe Sabrina would start making her own decisions and realize spoiled Wishlings weren't very good friends.
"Okay," decided Vega, "I'll take a vacation."
Once a shooting star was caught, the Star Darlings, Sabrina, and Lady Stella went to the Wishworld Observation Deck. Sabrina, disguised as Vega, did her best to act normal and not say anything un-Starling-like.
When they arrived, a star wrangler was waiting for them. He was using a lasso made of wish energy to restrain a shooting star. "Better get her on," said the star wrangler, "This one's a feistier one."
Lady Stella looked towards Vega, fooled by her disguise. "Are you ready, Sabrina?"
Vega was very nervous. She felt bad about lying to Lady Stella and anxious that Sabrina would forget to record her classes for her, but it was too late to back out now. She simply nodded, and Lady Stella asked Sage to accompany Sabrina on her journey back to Wishworld. Sage agreed and held Vega's hand, leading her onto the shooting star.
Once they were both safely attached, the star wrangler released the shooting star, allowing it to begin its journey to Wishworld. Sage used her Star Zap to disguise herself as a Wishling, and a starmin later, she and Vega touched down on the roof of a large building. As soon as they landed, Sage folded the shooting star up so she could use it to get back to Starland.
Paris was a city of many landmarks, so it didn't take them long to realize they were in the right place. "Moons and stars," breathed Sage, "check out the landscape!" Vega joined her as she walked toward the edge of the building. She agreed; the view was starmendous. There were buildings all around, trees with bright green leaves, and a bright blue sky. They could even see two Wishlings leaping over rooftops together, deep in conversation. Judging by their unique outfits, Vega assumed those two Wishlings were the superheroes that protected the city from Hawk-Moth.
"I should probably get going before they see us," said Sage, noticing that the heroes were heading toward the building they were on. She held Vega's hands and told her, "Remember. No matter how hard Chloe pushes you, remember that you're here to relax and make Sabrina's life better along the way."
Vega nodded. "Keep an eye on the real Sabrina for me."
"I will," Sage promised. They shared a hug, and then Sage took off on their shooting star. When she lost sight of her, Vega took a deep breath and waited for the superhero Wishlings to land on her building. This is it, she thought, For the first time in all of Starland history, a Starling has switched places with a Wishling.
"Sabrina?"
Vega spun around to find the Wishling superheroes standing behind her. They didn't seem bothered by her presence, but they did look a little confused.
"Oh, um," Vega said a little nervously, "star—I mean, hi!"
"Where were you?" asked one of the superheroes, a blonde teenage boy with a black cat-like outfit and pointy ears on top of his head. "We saw you get thrown into that shooting star, but by the time we activated our space power-ups and soared up to find you, you were gone. How did you get back to Earth?"
Vega was quick to think of an excuse. "The shooting star changed its course. You didn't see it?"
"Oh," said the other superhero, a teenage girl with navy hair in little pigtails and a ladybug-like suit. "Well, we were pretty busy dealing with Horrificator, so sorry if we didn't see you."
"Horrificator?" Vega asked in confusion.
"Your classmate Mylène," said the girl superhero, "remember? This is the second time she's been akumatized."
"And the second time she's been de-akumatized," added her partner with a charming wink.
"Cat Noir, please," said the girl in an annoyed tone. Vega chuckled. It was like watching Tessa scold Gemma for saying the wrong thing!
Turning toward Vega, the girl superhero said, "I think I'd better take you back to your BFF before she gets too worried." She held out her hand, and as soon as Vega took it, the heroine lassoed a nearby building with the yoyo she was carrying. Both of them swung off the ground, flew through the air, and landed on the building that had been lassoed.
As they swung away together, the other hero, Cat Noir, called, "See you around, m'lady!"
Well, that's the end of the second chapter. Sorry if this one seemed a little short; I'm really trying to work on making the chapters longer. Maybe when things start to get suspenseful, the chapters will get longer. I don't know, I guess maybe we'll just have to wait and see. See you in Chapter 3 (hey, that rhymes!) *chuckle*
