Nuvema Town, a small, yet quaint town, infamous for housing the famous Professor Juniper, both junior and senior.
In one particular house, there were two people arguing, one was a teenage boy, while the other was a younger, preteen girl.
The girl asked, "Why should I go?"
The boy huffed, "Sarah, you can't just stay in this house forever. I enrolled you so you can meet new people. Maybe get your own Pokémon."
"But, I want to stay with you."
"Sarah, I know, but, I talked with Mr. Blossom himself, he said he will help as long as you put the effort. Please do this for me, okay?"
"I- well, um..." after pondering, she caved, "Fine, I'll try it out."
Her brother smiled, "Good, glad you could work with me."
Sarah sighed, "As long as you stop annoying me..."
Spotlights shined down on a stage as a man with slight unkempt brown hair, wearing black slacks and a blue dress shirt. He also had black dress shoes and a white lab coat. He greeted will a slight Kalosian accent, "Hello, and welcome to the world of Pokémon. I am Augustine Sycamore, but people tend to refer to me as a Pokémon Professor."
He continued, "You may wonder what Pokémon are? They are creatures that possess mysterious powers."
Taking out a Pokéball, he released a goat-like Pokémon with shrubbery around it's neck. It released a lively 'baah', as Professor Sycamore explained, "Pokémon live many location. Through the sky, the grassy plains, the mountains, the deep as ocean trenches. Even in various cities and towns."
As various screens turned on, Sycamore continued, "Pokémon are often treated as pets, however people often use Pokémon for the purpose of battling, these individual are referred to as Pokémon Trainers."
The screens switched to various individuals, a man in armor, an elderly woman, a pink hair woman, and a male chef, "Many trainers goals are to become the strongest in each region, known also as the Pokémon Champion!" As the screens flickered to two individual; Diantha and the other was a younger Melas with two feet.
"This world has many excitement... now time for your story to begin!" As the lights shined blindingly.
An Aggron smashed through a psychic barrier, shoving a Gardevoir back several yards.
A much younger Diantha wiped sweat away, calling, "Gardevoir! Are you alright!?" A nod answered her.
A younger Melas commended, "You've done well, Diantha, was it? Not many people've gotten this far..." he gave a slight grin, "But... it ends here!"
"What?" He revealed a necklace that resembles an hour glass, as it began spinning rapid, before stopping, revealing a key stone as the sand emptied.
"Allow ascension of evolution! Aggron, Mega Evolve!" As four streaks of light erupted from his key stone and a stone on Aggron's gauntlet, as the streaks met in the middle, resulting in a magenta shell to surrounded the Steel-type, as Aggron begun mutating. An explosion erupted, aa rainbow DNA insignia shined. A newly Mega evolved Aggron roared primally.
Sarah was watching, as a woman with pink hair and red shades spoke, "One of the most well known fights of Kalos history, when the former champion had fought the current champion. Three times in fact, the final fight happening after an incident resulting in the loss of Melas' legs."
Sarah stared at the image of Mega Aggron, the ferocity of it made her shudder slightly. She wasn't as interested in Pokémon, She was just scared of them.
"Hey, are you going to Kiloude City for the Pokémon School?"
Turning to the voice, she saw a girl she thought she saw at a Pokémon Center with her brother in Unova. She was wearing a pink t-shirt with a stylized Chansey design, along with several symbols in Johtonian above it. She was wear in denim overalls, with the two straps that went to what seemed to be sunflower button on the bib of the overalls. She was wearing brown sneakers on top of ankle-length socks.
Sarah asked, "Umm, yeah... have we met? I feel like I've seen you before."
The girl shook her head, slightly amused, waving her hand slightly in a dismissive way, "No, no, this is the first time we're meeting. I'm Mikasa. And you are?"
Sarah blink, "Oh? Oh, I'm Sarah. It's nice to- EEP!" Feeling something tapping her leg, she jumped back.
Staring down from the seat she was standing on, a small pink Pokémon with an egg-like object in a pouch. The creature tilted her head in innocent confusion, "Hap?"
Mikasa blinked, "I'm sorry if she scared you, this is Happiny. She's a very friendly Pokémon to others." Picking up Happiny.
Sarah climbed down, embarrassed, "No, no. It's fine, I've... never been accustomed to Pokémon outside my brother's Pokémon."
Mikasa nodded, understanding, "Alright, I think I understand." Changing the subject, she asked, "Where are you from?"
"Unova, you?"
"Johto. Me and Happiny signed up to become a strong team." The Happiny turned away, huffing. "Well, I do anyway."
"Oh... I didn't know it was that big if a deal..." Sarah murmured.
Mikasa jumped, "It's a very big deal. Numbers upon numbers of students are applying, but from what I hear, only a select few are being allowed the school. I'm very happy I got accepted. A Pokémon school ran by some very good individuals, I hope I can achieve my dream."
"O-oh..." was all Sarah could muster, as she thought about her own problem, 'How did I get in if I can't handle any Pokémon.'
Mikasa sighed, "I just hope there's no problems with the other students..." as the tomboy looked down at Happiny, who seemed saddened at the comment.
Their attention was divided when the train begun to slow down.
Melas was hard at work, a few files levitating around him, as he read them in a rush. Finding perfect candidates for this experiment was the challenge. As much as he disliked the idea of rejecting numerous files, he didn't have a choice, he needed specific individuals. They were the lab rats, for the lack of a better word, for this experiment. If the camp succeeded, it won't be as selective and would include a refined system for this year.
He was still getting files, but it had slowed slightly, giving him ample time to pick a select few. He would select more until he felt the roster was filled.
"Tou-sama... I'm back with the sweets you requested." Melas' eyes flicked to the new arrival.
A young girl was in the door way, her eyes gleaming with a shiny yellow, her hair match Melas' own hair, only difference being the fact she lacked any gray hairs. She was dressed in a white blouse, a pair of pink tights, a light black skirt, and what seemed to be a black dress shirt and a white tie over it. Her skin as pale as her hair.
Melas smiled softly, as the files shifted, forming a separate pile from the other papers. "Chroma. It's good to see you. Have your fellow academy students arrived?"
She nodded, her eyes surprisingly shifting to a grayish-pink, "A few have... yes."
Melas noted her eye color, "What are you scared of?"
She murmured reluctantly, "I'm... scared that... no one will like me..."
Melas sighed, "Now, now, let's not assume people will treat you the same as in that other Kalosian school. Anyway, how was Wulfric?"
Not even a second, her eyes became a green, as her mood brightened substantially, "Yup! Mr. Wulfric and his team were so nice. He even gave me one his Pokémon's babies."
Melas smiled, relieved at the change, "Good." Glancing at an hourglass, he recommended, "You should go wait with the students that have arrived."
She nodded, her eyes flashing pink before becoming orange, as she turned and left the room.
Near the gates that went into the Pokémon Academy. An Aerodactyl flew overhead, as it dodged three arcs of Ice energy and a blast of electricity. Following it was a young girl and her Pokémon, a Frogadier and Sliggoo.
She has medium length straight black hair tied into a ponytail by a large ribbon. She had unusually dark gray, borderline black, eyes and fair skin. She was dressed in a light blue sweater, yellow skirt, black stockings, and brown shoes.
"Frogadier, hold it with Extrasensory! Sliggoo, Thunderbolt!"
The ninja frog preformed several hand signs, before it's eye shined blue, as Aerodactyl froze. Frogadier begun to sweat, as Aerodactyl begun to reign control over it's strength. Sliggoo roared, electricity crackling around it, before it launched a lightning bolt, though it was a little off.
Aerodactyl let loose a screech, breaking free of the energy, being grazed by the electricity. Infuriated, Aerodactyl released a another screech, as it was enveloped by a green aura, before it swooped downward. Frogadier reacted, kicking his trainer out of range, before it dodged the Giga Impact. Sliggoo wasn't so lucky, being hit hard by the move.
The girl cried out, "Sliggoo!" She flinched as Aerodactyl brought one of it's talons down on her.
DING!
Hearing a clang caused her to open an eye. Much to her shock, a Bronzor hovered in front of her, a green barrier stopping the talon.
Bronzor's next attack was quicker than she could react, a destructive burst of psychic energy struck the prehistoric bird, and unlike Sliggoo's attack, it overpowered Aerodactyl.
Picking itself up, Aerodactyl glared at Bronzor, before taking off with a roar.
Once out of sight, Bronzor begun spinning through the now open gate. The girl checked Sliggoo, "Are you alright, Sliggoo?"
Despite the rather derpish look and the partial blindness, Sliggoo conveyed that it's alright, "Goo..."
Recalling the slug, she notice the Bronzor hovering on the other side of the gate. As it's mirror-like body rotated, it let loose a "ZORR!" as the gates glowed blue with it's eyes, before they were slammed open with more force than the required, as one of the gates fell off it's hinges.
The girl and frog stared at the Psychic, as it let loose a low, "Bronz..." before it slowly rotated away, repeating it's comment without a care.
Snapping out of her stare, she rushed after it, Frogadier in pursuit.
Exiting the train station, as Sarah and Mikasa came off. They had differing reactions at what they saw, it was beautiful city, plants going into their final bloom with the end of summer, tree's starting to change. The buildings were in pristine shape, combined with the natural geography. It made for an astounding sight. Combine that with various species of Pokémon flying, scuttling, crawling, walking, you name it, in tandom with the people living day to day.
Mikasa looked stunned, seeing the bustling city, while Sarah had a slightly unnerved look. Sure it was pretty, but they couldn't handle the large number of Pokémon.
She flinched as a crash occurred, followed up by, "Get back here, you damn troublemaker!" As a pink Aipom slid under her, causing her to freeze. The little ape gave a peace sign, before taking off.
Mikasa stared at the now missing Aipom, "What was that about?"
Sarah breathed, collecting herself, "I... don't know..."
One of the workers, a brawny man, "You must be new, but that Aipom's been a problem ever since the trains were refurbished. It's sneak, and know how to evade capture."
Mikasa bowed, letting a bit of her Johtonian roots show, unintentional thanking, "Oshiete kurete arigatō... oops."
The worker, bewildered, carried on. Sarah, on the other hand, questioned, "What was that?"
Mikasa blushed heavily, "That... was the shared language of Kanto, Johto, and Sinnoh... a force of habit. Sorry."
"No, I think that's cool." Sarah reassured.
That's when it occurred to them, Sarah asking abruptly, "What time is it!"
Mikasa panicked, "I-I don't know!" With that, they both rush, Mikasa recalling her Happiny.
Melas rolled himself to the dining hall, as he begun pondering, 'I wonder how many are present... I sent several acceptance papers to. It could be anyone of them.'
As he reached, he pushed the door open. Getting a good look at each of the students, he rose a brow, there were seven students, including Chroma.
'Well that's disappointing, I thought there would be more, oh well, it's the beginning of the week, there'll probably be more..."
A loud crash was heard, the outside door opening, revealing Sarah and Mikasa, panting, and in Sarah's case, heaving.
Melas analyzed them, before musing, "Well, better late than never... how good of you both to join us." His amusement evident.
The duo bowed, as they both apologized, "I'm sorry I'm late!/ Dō ka, watashi o oidasanaide kudasai! Nidoto okureru koto wa arimasen!"
Melas chuckled, "Now, now, I don't punish or expel student for tardiness. Infact you're early in comparison to my slacking Assistant. Take a seat with the others."
After a few moments, everyone seated, Melas introduced, "It's a pleasure to meet you all, my name is Melas Sakura, but just call me Professor Melas. And welcome, to the Pokémon Academy."
AN: I won't reveal anything, but I've shown four of the nine, the ones not shown will be introduced in the next part.
Know this though, I will keep the SYOC open until either the end of this arc, or the beginning of the next arc.
Mikasa translation:
Line 1: Thank you for telling us.
Line 2: Please, don't expel me! I won't be late again!
Until next time: ja ne.
