Hi everyone! Sorry for the long wait—this chapter took a while for me to plan out. Well, here it is now. ;) Hope you like it!
Chapter 10
Things were very suspenseful in the Agreste Mansion's secret respiratory. Hawk-Moth, his accomplice Mayura, and Star Perfectionist had kidnapped Adora, and now apparently, she was about to be forced to heal an unconscious Wishling woman for reasons no one would explain. She didn't even know who the woman was, but she had a hunch it was another supervillain—after all, why else would an evil person's greatest wish be for her to be healthy again?
"What are we supposed to do now?" asked Star Perfectionist, who Adora analyzed hadn't figured out the obvious.
Hawk-Moth pressed a button on the coffin, causing the glass lid to open up. Turning to both of the Starlings, he smiled sinisterly. "I want this woman healed. Right now." He waited for Star Perfectionist to make Adora obey him, but to his surprise, she didn't. "What are you waiting for?" the villain demanded.
"Star apologies," said Star Perfectionist, who, despite her master's control over her mind, now felt a bit confused, "but I don't understand. You sound even more evil than Lady Rancora, and yet you hurt hydrongs of people over the starweeks…just to heal someone?"
Mayura narrowed her eyes. "It wasn't as if he had any choice in the matter, young lady."
"No ma'am, she has a point," said Adora, secretly hoping Star Perfectionist's sudden uncertainty would cause her to turn good again. "If all you wanted was to heal someone, why couldn't you have just, I don't know, maybe akumatized Mayura and given her healing powers?"
Hawk-Moth glared at her. "Just heal her, and all this will be over. Star Perfectionist?"
Star Perfectionist crossed her arms. "We're not healing her until you tell us the truth. As a puzzle solver, we may have a deal, but there's still something that's not right about this."
"I see," Hawk-Moth snarled. He tensely clenched one of his fists, and suddenly Adora quickly stepped forward, her healing powers readying themselves. As for Star Perfectionist, she felt a sudden pain in her arm (the one with the wrist brace on it) as it began to vibrate, smoky dots the colour of the akuma coming out of her shoulder.
Star Perfectionist glared at him. "I thought you made it clear that I'd be in charge of controlling my victims' actions, not to mention my own!"
"You broke our deal first," stated Hawk-Moth, "Now as punishment, you will stand out of my way, because now your victims are mine."
Adora gulped. She desperately hoped the remainder of her friends would come to her aid—and fast!
Sage, Libby (now transformed with the Ladybug Miraculous), Sabrina (now transformed with the Cat Miraculous), Scarlet, and Astra walked through the mansion together. Sage was leading the way, using her Star Zap to track Adora's location. Soon they arrived in front of a portrait of a blonde woman.
"That's Emilie Agreste, Adrien's mother," said Sabrina, recognizing the woman in the portrait, "She was a great actress, but then she disappeared. No one in Paris knows what happened to her, but ever since her disappearance, something changed in Adrien's father. Now we barely ever see him in public, and he even tries to stop Adrien from going to school with us."
"That's so sad," sighed Libby. She looked down, and seeing her new ladybug-themed outfit, she asked, "Hey, what should we call ourselves now that we're…miraculoused?"
The girls thought for a moment until Sage frowned. "My Star Zap says we need to take the elevator to the respiratory, but there's no elevator here."
Scarlet looked around. "Maybe it's a secret elevator hidden somewhere, kind of like that trapdoor I found the other starday."
"You found a trapdoor? When?" Astra exclaimed.
"Explore the Crystal Caverns more, and you'll know," mumbled Scarlet, getting down to her knees. She began feeling the tiled floor, trying to locate a trapdoor or something.
Libby knelt down and helped Scarlet search. "I think my superhero name should be Starbug," she decided as she did.
"Good name," said Sabrina. She thought for a bit. "I still don't know what I'm going to pick."
"Whatever comes to you is fine, okay?" Scarlet groaned.
"Okay," Sabrina told her. As Libby (or Starbug, as she'd decided) and Scarlet continued examining the floor, she gazed at the portrait of Emilie Agreste and stepped toward it to look at it more closely. To admire the tiny multicoloured squares around the woman close up, Sabrina placed her hands on the portrait so she could lean forward more. However, by doing so, she unintentionally discovered there were two buttons hidden in the areas she was holding—and pressed them. The tile Starbug was sitting on descended underneath the floor, startling her and her friends. Scarlet, Sabrina, Sage, and Astra quickly jumped on top of her before she could get too far, and together they entered a secret elevator that led to what appeared to be a respiratory.
Sage chuckled. "Nice job, Sab…I mean, um…whatever you decide to call yourself."
"How about Mosaicat?" Sabrina suggested. "My suit design and what just happened seem to point to that."
"Mosaicat," repeated Astra, thinking it over. She smiled. "Yeah, that's got a nice ring to it."
As the elevator descended, the quintet could see a coffin with a dormant Emilie Agreste (which even Mosaicat hadn't expected) inside of it in the front of the room. Adora was reluctantly using her healing powers on Emilie, with the sinisterly satisfied Hawk-Moth and Mayura watching a few paces behind her. Star Perfectionist was standing by the right wall, clutching one of her arms, which was shaking.
"Uh, Mosaicat," gulped Starbug, "is Emilie a nice Wishling or a bad one?"
"She's nice," reassured Mosaicat, "but I'm not sure why she's involved in all this."
"Guess we'll find out when we start fighting them," said Scarlet.
The elevator reached the respiratory's level and stopped. The doors opened, and the girls stepped out. Unable to help it, Mosaicat struck a dramatic cat-like pose, prompting Starbug to chuckle and strike a pose as well. Star Perfectionist somehow recognized Sabrina despite her transformation and snarled at her. It was obvious that she was the next person she planned to cast a spell on.
Hawk-Moth was furious. "Mayura! Star Perfectionist! Help me deal with them! And you, miss," he told Adora, "keep healing her."
"My name's Adora," said Adora in annoyance.
"Yes, yes. And once you're finished healing her, help us with the battle."
While Adora continued using her powers on Emilie against her will, many battles simultaneously ensued behind her: Sage against Hawk-Moth, Mosaicat against Star Perfectionist, Starbug against Mayura, and Astra and Scarlet against the giant akuma sentimonster, which Mayura had secretly recreated during Hawk-Moth's outburst by placing a blue feather inside a tree near the coffin. Those of them who were current Miraculous holders spun their special tools around to deflect spells, and those who were Starlings used the powers they started out with.
Luckily, Astra was able to distract the sentimonster with her super speed long enough for Scarlet to pin it down with her gravity manipulation powers. Seeing this, Starbug had an idea and used her wish energy talents to restrain Mayura. Once the villain was trapped, Starbug focused on her peacock brooch and turned it into a toothbrush, which then fell onto the floor. Instantly the sentimonster disappeared, and Mayura transformed into an ordinary Wishling woman with short dark hair that was slightly dyed red. The woman started to walk up toward Starbug, but suddenly fell to her knees and began coughing.
Unfortunately, Star Perfectionist saw the heroes were winning and, while battling Mosaicat, used her mind controlling powers to force Scarlet and Astra into helping the villains out. Against their will, the two Starlings headed straight for Sage and used their skills to knock her to the floor just as she was about to snatch Hawk-Moth's butterfly brooch. Starbug rushed over to save Sage, but Scarlet used her gravity manipulation powers on her, and soon she was immobilized as well. Starbug yelped, and hearing her, Mosaicat hollered, "Say Lucky Charm!"
Starbug was confused, but she trusted her. "Lucky Charm," she said, and then suddenly she gasped as her yoyo opened and a swarm of glowing pink ladybugs flew out of it. When the insects cleared away, a red spray can with black spots on it took their place and fell to the floor. Seeing Starbug was in no position to pick up the spray can and Hawk-Moth was walking toward her to take the Ladybug Miraculous, Mosaicat did some quick thinking. She held Star Perfectionist back with her staff, unclipped her belt, and wrapped it around the akumatized Starling's eyes like a blindfold. Star Perfectionist became too busy trying to unwrap the blindfold to deal with her opponent, which gave Mosaicat enough time to sneak behind Scarlet and Astra. She spun them both around in circles, making them lose focus, which freed Sage and Starbug from their clutches. Sage used her powers to hold Hawk-Moth back long enough for Starbug to grab the spray can and spray the cruel man with it. He instantly recoiled and covered his eyes.
"What did I just do?" Starbug exclaimed in fear.
"It must be a can of pepper spray," said Mosaicat, "My dad sometimes uses it before he arrests someone. It stings people's eyes, but the effects are only temporary."
Star Perfectionist yanked off the blindfold with a loud grunt. Mosaicat quickly went back to battling her with her staff. "I'll save Vega. You and Sage handle the rest of them!"
"Got it," Starbug and Sage affirmed in unison. With both of their powers combined with Starbug's pepper spray (which she felt really bad about having to use because of her kind personality), the two of them were able to overpower Scarlet, Astra, Hawk-Moth, and the woman who was really Mayura (or Nathalie, as they then found out her civilian name was). At the same time, Mosaicat used her staff to deflect the blue rays Star Perfectionist sent her way, while continuously cartwheeling out of her eyesight to avoid being placed under her action controlling spell. This went on for quite a while, until Sage was finally able to hold Hawk-Moth, Nathalie, Scarlet, and Astra in place with her telekinesis, allowing Starbug to sneak behind Star Perfectionist and tie her up with her yoyo. As Starbug held the villain in place from behind her, Mosaicat quickly stood next to her partner so Star Perfectionist could no longer see them and place her under her spell.
"Yes," whispered Adora, who was watching the scene and was still busy using her healing powers on Emilie (a process that seemed to be making some progress at this point).
Star Perfectionist fidgeted crazily, trying unsuccessfully to free herself from the yoyo's string. When she realized there was nothing she could do, she simply glared at the wall in front of her and yelled, "You still won't get away with taking my life from me, Sabrina!"
"Let's save the talking for after you're the real you again," said Mosaicat with a smile. Jumping into the air, she spun around and hollered, "Cataclysm!" Black energy surrounded Mosaicat's right hand as she landed on her feet, and she used that hand to touch Star Perfectionist's wrist brace, causing it to dissolve into dark brown dust.
As the akuma flew into view, Mosaicat told Starbug to release Star Perfectionist. "This is the part where you have to capture the akuma and purify it, which you need your yoyo to do."
Starbug untied Star Perfectionist, who fell backwards and into Mosaicat's arms. While black and purple smoke covered Star Perfectionist, Starbug (with the guidance of Mosaicat) swung her yoyo around. "Okay akuma," she said, "it's time to stop controlling my friend!" She gave the yoyo one strong swing, and it flew towards the akuma, trapping it inside the yoyo. "Got it!" Starbug exclaimed in excitement, and Mosaicat, Sage, Scarlet, Astra, and Adora cheered.
The black and purple smoke cleared away, revealing Vega, who was now back to normal, but also unconscious. Starbug noticed this, and her eyes widened. "Oh no, is she okay?"
"It's normal," said Mosaicat, "don't worry. She'll wake up in about ten seconds."
"Oh," Starbug replied. Peering down at her now-closed yoyo, she asked, "Um…so now what do I do?"
"I think you just tap the yoyo," said Mosaicat, "The purified akuma flies out, and then to undo all the harm the villains caused, you'll need to toss the pepper spray into the air and yell 'Miraculous Ladybug.' Or maybe 'Miraculous Starbug' instead. It's not often someone other than Ladybug does all that."
Starbug nodded. She held up her yoyo and gently tapped it. It opened, and out fluttered a now-white butterfly. Smiling, Starbug picked up her pepper spray and tossed it into the air. "MIRACULOUS STARBUG!"
With that, the spray can turned into a swarm of glowing pink ladybugs. Half of the swarm swirled around Vega's hand (restoring her now-normal-again wrist brace), then around Adora, and then around Scarlet and Astra, while the other half flew outside, freeing Ladybug and Cat Noir and restoring Alya, Rose, Juleka, Lila, Nathaniel, and everyone who had been placed into unconscious states. Then that group of ladybugs left Wishworld and entered Starland, turning the hedge maze back to normal, restoring Lady Stella, Professor Lucretia Delphinus, Leona, Cassie, Piper, Tessa, Gemma, and Clover. "We're free!" Gemma squealed once they were revived, and everyone cheered.
Back in the respiratory, Sage released Scarlet and Astra (who, along with Adora, were no longer under Star Perfectionist's spell) from her magical hold, but kept Hawk-Moth and Nathalie suspended in the air. The four Starlings rushed toward Starbug and Mosaicat, and while Scarlet hung back, Sage, Astra, and Adora started to give them a group hug, but stopped when they noticed Vega.
Sage gently touched her hand. "Vega?"
Vega stirred softly and, dazed, she opened her eyes. "…what…what happened…?"
Mosaicat held her hand. "You were aku—"
"Gabriel, would you mind explaining this to me?!"
The girls jumped and looked behind them. Emilie Agreste, now awake and completely healed, was sitting up in her coffin with a look of bewilderment. Adora's powers had worked.
Hawk-Moth's anger instantly made way for false worry. "Emilie, you're awake! Quick, get away from these supervillains!"
"Now hold on," said Emilie, climbing out of the coffin, "I didn't see everything, but I heard plenty! The only supervillain here is you. All these girls were doing was saving their friend from the horrible mind corruption you gave her!"
"Mind corruption?" Vega exclaimed, horrified, "What's going on?" Then, looking around, realization slowly came over her. "Wait, was I…akumatized?"
Starbug's Miraculous beeped, and she transformed back into Libby. The red ladybug kwami appeared on her shoulder, looking a little tired. Adora went over so she could heal the kwami, but she shook her head. "I'm okay, I just need something to eat."
"Libby?" Vega said, recognizing her friend.
"We just borrowed some magical jewels from Ladybug and Cat Noir. They, um…needed a little help saving you from Hawk-Moth's control."
Emilie sternly walked toward the villains, who were still suspended in the air with Sage's powers. "Nathalie, give me an honest answer."
Nathalie swallowed hard and then began to explain how, after her Miraculous made Emilie fall into a coma that no medics could cure, Hawk-Moth became determined to take the Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses for himself. Apparently when the same person wielded both of them at the same time, that person gained the power to destroy the universe and create a new one where everything went their way.
"But as you know, the only Miraculous in our possession were the Butterfly and Peacock Miraculous," she explained, "The rest of the Miraculous were in the custody of the Guardian of the Miracle Box, whose identity and location were unknown at the time. The only way to bring the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous out of hiding was by creating mayhem that would force the Guardian to choose new wielders for them."
"But you didn't have to—" Mosaicat was interrupted by her Miraculous, which suddenly began to beep. Immediately she transformed back into Sabrina, and the black cat kwami appeared on her shoulder. "As I was saying," Sabrina continued, "you didn't have to keep putting Paris in danger just because you didn't have access to the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous! Do you have any idea how many people almost got killed because of the villains you created? Especially Chloe! I've lost count of how many times she was the main target of an akumatized villain, and how many times she was used as bait to lure in the heroes!"
"Why would you need to make an alternate universe anyway?" Sage added.
"Yeah," said Adora, "The only thing you wanted to change was the fact that Emilie was sick." She frowned. "Hey, how come she even had access to Mayura's Miraculous?"
"Because he's my husband," sighed Emilie.
Sabrina gasped. "No, that's impossible! Adrien's had to suffer a lot from the akumatized villains too! Not as many times as Chloe did, but so far he's been thrown off a building by Gorizilla, injured and challenged to a fencing fight by Riposte, turned into a kissing zombie by Zombizou, and turned into a glitter statue by Style Queen! His own father would never do such a thing to him!"
Astra rolled her eyes. "Sabrina, some people just don't care about anyone."
"Emilie, I did all this for you!" Hawk-Moth pleaded, "My greatest desire is for us to be together!"
"My greatest desire is for the right choices to be made," Emilie told him, "But that's not what you did. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going upstairs to make sure my son is alright."
"Uh, I don't think you want to go up there just yet," the cat kwami quickly said, "I uh, he's sleeping over at his friend Nino's house and didn't want to tell his father because he never lets him outside."
Emilie turned to Sabrina, the Star Darlings, and the kwamis. "This might take a while, ladies. Why don't you return the Miraculous to their rightful owners?"
"Just the heroes' Miraculous or the ones here too?" Scarlet asked.
"All four," said Emilie. Sage nodded, and snapping her finger, she removed Hawk-Moth's brooch from his possession and levitated it into her hand. Once the brooch was removed, the cruel villain transformed into an ordinary Wishling man that Sabrina realized was indeed Adrien's father, Gabriel. At the same time, Libby picked up the toothbrush that used to be the Peacock Miraculous, and she used her powers to turn it back into its original form. Sage then released Gabriel and Nathalie from her clutches, and while Emilie had a stern discussion with the duo about what they had done to the city, Sabrina, the Star Darlings, and the kwamis used the elevator to go back to the level they started out on.
"Once we get outside, remember to keep your eyes closed until my owner says you can open them," said the ladybug kwami.
"We will," said Sabrina. She sighed. "Wow, I…I can't believe it's over now. From this day on, the city won't have to worry about akuma attacks or sentimonster attacks ever again. And neither will Starland!"
Vega stared at the floor in guilt. "What did I do to everyone?"
"Nothing you'll need to worry about," reassured Libby, "It's all been undone anyway."
"But I caused so much trouble. I mean, how else could you have found out I was akumatized? And why were you and Sage using your powers in front of the Wishling adults?"
"Because you brought Hawk-Moth and his peacock partner to Starland!" Astra shouted before anyone could stop her, "You told them everything about us, and in case you're wondering why not all of the Star Darlings are here, it's because you turned most of them into stardust!"
"Hey, calm down," retorted Scarlet, "You know she only did all that because she was under a spell herself."
Astra took a deep breath. "You're right. Star apologies. The point is, since you already told them everything, there wasn't any point in hiding the truth."
Sage held Vega's hand while simultaneously using the other one to collect the Ladybug, Peacock, and Cat Miraculouses as they were handed to her. "It's okay, Vega. The Ladybug Miraculous was able to undo the spells you placed on our friends. And the villains will forget all about this once we give the Wishling heroes goodbye hugs and erase their memories too."
The elevator reached the right level, and everyone got off. Sage, Scarlet, and Astra wasted no time in bringing the kwamis and the four Miraculous outside, with the Starlings making sure to close their eyes before they went to reunite with the Wishling heroes' civilian forms. Libby and Sabrina started to follow them, when they noticed Vega had stopped a few paces away from the elevator's area. She was sadly staring down at her wrist brace, blue glittery tears in her eyes.
Libby rushed toward her, followed by Sabrina. "Vega, what's wrong?"
"I can't go back to Starland," Vega whimpered. Her tears ran down her cheeks like comets, and she turned to Sabrina. "Before I got akumatized, your whole class found out my true identity. Chloe told her dad and your dad, and they put this wrist brace on me. There's a camera inside, and your dad's the only one who can remove it. Whether he remembers me or not, there's no way he'll take this off without suspecting anything!" She hugged Libby tightly as she continued to cry.
"Just use your mind controlling powers on him," said Libby, "Then he'll get the wrist brace off of you."
"I can't," Vega sobbed, "He's been there for most of the akuma attacks. He'll know a spell is influencing his actions!" She peered up at Sabrina. "Star apologies, but…I'm afraid we'll have to live each other's lives forever."
Sabrina gasped as an idea came to her. "That's it!"
Libby and Vega were confused. "What do you mean?"
"You'll just pretend to be me one more time. Then things can go back to normal."
Luckily, the girls didn't have to go out looking for Sabrina's father. While they were upstairs, Emilie had called the police so Gabriel and Nathalie would be arrested. Roger arrived in his car a few minutes after Sage gave the four Miraculouses to Ladybug and Cat Noir, who were then able to transform without anyone learning who they really were. Since they didn't have any other tasks to do at the moment, both Wishling heroes were able to stay at the Agreste Mansion and watch the arrest.
Cat Noir seemed noticeably more shocked and even hurt that his enemies turned out to be Gabriel Agreste and his assistant. Ladybug noticed her partner's expression, and she along with Astra asked him what was wrong. Cat Noir simply replied, "Nothing…I'm just worried about how much this'll hurt Mr. Agreste's son."
Ladybug sighed. "You're right," she whispered, "He's going to be so upset." Was it Emilie's imagination, or did she see the black-spotted heroine blushing as she mentioned her son?
While Emilie, Roger, Ladybug, and Cat Noir dealt with Gabriel and Nathalie, Vega hid by one of the mansion's side walls. She was using her Star Zap (which Sabrina had brought to Paris and, along with her Wish Pendant, given back to her) to change her appearance so she'd look like her Wishling friend again. Sage, Scarlet, and Astra were there too, discussing their new plan. After Ladybug and Cat Noir transformed again, Sabrina had suddenly yawned and decided she'd better head home before it got too late, so Libby had decided to accompany her on the bus ride there. It hadn't been a big deal; Ladybug and Cat Noir would just be the ones to receive the goodbye hug instead. Whenever the Star Darlings gave those kinds of hugs to their Wishers, it didn't only erase the Wishers' memories of them, but also the memories belonging to any other Wishlings that had met the girls on the same Wish Mission. Either way, Sabrina's memories of her adventure with them would still disappear. As for Vega's wrist brace, Sabrina had come up with the perfect strategy to get it off—but Scarlet knew it would only work after Roger's memories of his daughter's disappearance were erased.
While Vega, mostly (she'd returned Sabrina's headband and glasses to her before she left) disguised as Sabrina, waited in the shadows with Astra and Scarlet, Sage went up to Ladybug and Cat Noir, who were preparing to leave. They noticed her and paused what they were doing.
"I just wanted to thank you for helping us save Vega," said Sage. It wasn't part of the act either—she meant it.
"You and your friends helped us too, you know," replied Ladybug, "We've been trying to stop those guys for months now, but it's never gone well."
"Yeah," added Cat Noir, in a bitter tone. Sage felt bad for him; he was obviously taking the Gabriel/Hawk-Moth thing pretty hard. She was confused by that, but decided to let it go. For all she knew, his reactions could be for a very personal reason.
"Hey um," Ladybug said, glancing around to make sure the adults couldn't hear her, "when you get the chance, tell Sabrina and um…what was your friend's name? The one who borrowed my Miraculous."
"Libby."
"Yeah, Libby." Ladybug winked. "Tell them they were awesome substitute Miraculous holders."
"I will," said Sage. She sighed. "So…I guess this is goodbye."
"Yeah, it is," mumbled Cat Noir. He extended his staff and leapt over a building, out of sight.
"Don't worry," reassured Ladybug, "If you're planning to cast a memory spell on our planet so we won't endanger yours, you have my permission."
"How…how did you know I was going to do that?"
Ladybug smiled. "Superheroes have their secrets. I can only assume you do too."
"Yeah, we do." They both laughed.
The bus parked in front of Sabrina's home, and she and Libby got off. Before heading for the big vehicle, Libby had used her Star Zap to change into her Wishling form. It was partly to avoid anyone learning her true identity, but mainly because Sabrina had wanted to see in her Wishling form again. "You just looked so cute in New York," she'd said, "Not in the crush tense though. You know what I mean."
When the bus was gone, the girls hurried inside. Roger was still at the Agreste Mansion, so they had all the privacy they needed for at least another half hour. "Better hurry," warned Libby, "They could erase those memories at any starsec."
Sabrina nodded and pulled out her Power Crystal. She was tempted to just stand there and admire its beauty, but she knew there was no time for that. If she waited any longer, her memories of the Star Darlings would be erased, just like Ladybug's, Cat Noir's, her father's, Miss Bustier's, the mayor's, the villains', Chloe's, and the rest of her class's.
Remembering how she'd been introduced to Libby's Power Crystal back on Starland, Sabrina pressed her own Power Crystal against her chest. Suddenly she felt a strong, almost overwhelming surge of strength and power within her, and she was swept into the air by a powerful force. She was surrounded by a purple glow that was so bright, anyone who watched her in that moment would have assumed every part of her, clothes, eyes, and all, was a bright, blinding purple.
As Libby ducked behind a table, Sabrina suddenly felt another sensation within her, though this was mostly inside her head. She could feel her memories fighting to stay inside her—not something that normally happened when Wishlings' memories were being erased by Starling goodbye hugs. Yet somehow, Sabrina wasn't scared at all. Somehow she knew exactly what she needed to do to keep her memories in particular from being erased as well. Without even thinking, she screamed, "NEBULA…MEMORITE!" Then she focused on her Star Darling memories with all her might; Vega trusting her with her life, Astra's advice about balance, the true fun that Sage, Cassie, Piper, Leona, Scarlet, Gemma, Tessa, Adora, and Clover helped her have, and most of all, the true BFF relationship she and Libby developed together.
Using a Power Crystal was an experience Sabrina knew would always be unlike any other—whether it was past experiences or experiences she'd have in the future. This feeling could only be described as a sudden sensation of ultimate power, nearly overwhelming. She doubted that even the feeling of undergoing a Miraculous-caused transformation or an akuma-caused transformation felt like this. It was truly a unique experience; if she wasn't so focused on saving her memories, she would have thought more about how actually activating her Power Crystal felt.
Sabrina kept at it. She focused on her Star Darling memories like everyone's lives depended on it, which went on for about two more minutes. Then suddenly she saw a blinding flash of white light and fell on the floor, landing on her knees and breathing heavily. The bright purple glow that had been surrounding her disappeared, and she was left sitting there, her Power Crystal lying on the floor in front of her.
Libby rushed to Sabrina's side. "Are you okay? Did it work?"
Sabrina looked at her friend. "Yeah…it did. I still remember you and everything else! Starland, you, our friends there, the battle against Star Perfectionist…I still have my memories!"
Suddenly Libby's Star Zap beeped. Checking it, the girls saw Sage had sent them a holo-text.
Just erased everyone's memories. Is Sabrina okay?
Libby wrote back. She's fine - doesn't remember a thing.
Good. See you back at the mansion.
You too! :)
Libby put away her Star Zap and turned back to Sabrina. "You still remember me and everything else, right?"
Sabrina nodded reassuringly. "My memories are here to stay."
Libby laughed, and they hugged each other tightly. It wasn't a goodbye hug though—it was more of a "see you later" kind of hug, so it didn't erase any memories.
Wow; only one chapter left to write now! It's hard to believe how fast that time went by. *chuckle* I'll be back soon with the final chapter of "Star Perfectionist". See you then!
