Summary: "It takes a long time. The multiverse is so large already, and it's only expanding. But they do find him." Loki reunites with his Mobius following the events of the season finale. One-shot. Spoiler warning!
A/N: I'd just like to announce that I'm now on Archive Of Our Own (AO3) as well, under the same username (Buckhunter). I've begun crossposting some of my works (obviously not doing for all 300+, that's insane) over there too. But, yeah, I mostly wanted to say this in case anyone gets worried that "the other person" is stealing my work LOL. Anyway, hope you guys enjoy this piece and that it helps you heal after that cliffhanger of a Loki finale.
Friends Across Time
It's not hard to convince Mobius of the truth.
Well, it is, until Loki steals his Tempad, takes them to some random place and point in time, then restores the memories of his pre-TVA life. It's easy, after that, to convince him to help Loki track down the other Mobius, the one that Loki had called a friend as they'd stood at the end of time.
They travel across space and time together, evading variants of all sorts of creatures, in their search to locate him. It takes a long time. The multiverse is so large already, and it's only expanding. And there's only more versions of the TVA.
They meet a couple of other Mobiuses, and it's awkward. They're relatively similar, thankfully, and don't cause much of a problem. Though one recognizes Loki and he thinks it's his Mobius, until he realizes they never met.
He's almost lost hope by the time they finally do find him. He's glad that the one beside him keeps pushing on, just as hopelessly optimistic as the one he knows.
"Hey, look, we need to keep going, okay? You got me into this, I'm going to make sure we actually see it through. We'll find him, Loki. I promise."
But they do find him.
He's on Lamentis-1, out of all places, sitting on the same rock Loki had sat on as he'd awaited his doom alongside Sylvie- she's on the list to find next. But this Lamentis-1 is long before the apocalypse that wipes out the entire moon's population.
He stirs at the sound of their Timedoor, casting a wary glance towards them over his shoulder before his gaze softens at them. He doesn't look shocked to see himself, but Loki knows he's seen weirder things before.
Loki throws caution to the wind, because he knows it's his Mobius just by looking at him- it was surprisingly easy, considering all the other versions of him that were running around the multiverse. He hugs him in an embrace tighter than the one on the Void, burying his face in Mobius's shoulder and shaking with relief. He silently sobs into his friend's coat. Mobius lets him.
"You might wanna keep an eye on that one!" The other calls from the portal.
He feels Mobius stifle a chuckle. "I'll do that. Thanks for bringing him back."
They wish each other good luck, and then Loki hears the portal close after the other Mobius leaves them.
Loki and Mobius stay in that position for at least another five minutes, the God of Mischief crying into the shoulder of the greatest agent any TVA variation has ever seen. Mobius refuses to interrupt him, as patient as ever. Loki is grateful for the understanding, even if he is humiliated at his position. God, he missed his Mobius.
When they finally break contact, when it seems Loki can control himself again, he pulls away and turns to look at his friend.
His voice is broken and hoarse, but he doesn't care. "Mobius...we need to talk."
"I know. We will." Mobius's voice is gentle. His hand is on Loki's shoulder. "I get that things are a mess right now, but you need to calm down. We'll talk about it back at the TVA- don't worry, they know, it's fine- and you can start from where I left you guys." A pause. "You gonna be okay?"
Loki nods, swallowing to compose himself.
"Good." He takes out a Tempad of his own and opens a portal. "Come on, I have a lot to catch up on."
