Chapter 15:

(Felix POV)

I finished tying my tie in the back room of the church. Pepa was going to be here soon and then we were going to be married. I couldn't believe it. Augustin had helped me back everything up from the shack and I was going to move into Casita tonight. I loved Pepa so much and the fact that I was going to be a part of a family made it even more amazing. I couldn't wait to see her today in the church. I looked out the window at Casita. I had been told that she hadn't come to the church yet. I smiled looking towards it. I couldn't wait for her to come. Suddenly though I saw some clouds forming over the house. I hoped that she was alright.

(Pepa POV)

I looked myself over in the mirror everything needed to be perfect today and I had to make sure that everything was in order. Julieta came into my room and was smiling, "You know we should probably go to the church soon." I looked at her, "We aren't running later are we?" She shook her head, "No not at all." Bruno came into my room so, "Woah looks like rain." My eyes widened, "What? It's going to rain today. ON MY WEDDING DAY!" "No, Pepa that wasn't-" He started but I wasn't paying attention anymore as I focused on the clouds forming over my head. I kept trying to push away the clouds to stop the rain that was beginning to come down but that was only making the clouds grow bigger. I needed it to stop.

Mama came into my room, "Pepa, we need to go to the church." She then saw the clouds. "Pepa?" I was speaking frantically, "Bruno had a vision that it was going to rain today. My wedding. Mama." I wasn't sure what to do Mama let out a breath, "Well let's get out the umbrellas and get to the church." Mama seemed to accept this fate but, I kept wanting it to stop which was only making it worse. I was still in my room trying to calm down. There was then a knock on the door, "I need a minute." "Pepa?" I turned and saw Felix standing there.

(Felix POV)

I looked at Pepa as she seemed to be panicking. I went over and wrapped my arms around her, "Hey what's wrong?" "It is going to rain today and it is going to ruin everything and I don't know what to do," She began to say as she was becoming more and more stressed, "Pepa nothing is going to ruin today. We are getting married today do you think that I care that it might rain a little." I began to look her over and smiled at her, "You look gorgeous Pepa." She gave me a weary smile, "But what if the rain doesn't stop?" I just smiled, "Then the rain doesn't stop. Do you think that you can come to the church?" She looked up at the clouds as thunder clapped again and the wind picked up slightly, "Let's go."

The rain was picking up as the roof of the church began to leak and I knew that it was going to freak out Pepa. I talked with people in town and then they held up umbrellas for Pepa to walk under as she made her way down the aisle. I could tell from the look on her face that she wasn't expecting it but, I just couldn't get over how beautiful she was. Her Mama brought her down to the end of the aisle and then I took Pepa's hand. Throughout the entire church ceremony the rain continued to pelt down on the church but I couldn't stop smiling. Today I was marrying my best friend.

(Pepa POV)

After the ceremony it was decided to hold off on the reception as the rain wouldn't let up and everyone wanted to make their way back to their houses in case it got any worse. Still Felix came home with me and he wouldn't let go of my hand the entire walk home. Home. Felix was finally coming home. I smiled at him and rested my head on his shoulder still stressed that the rain and winds wouldn't stop not matter what I tried.

As I got ready for bed that night I could hear the rain and wind beating down on the doors. I left the bathroom and went into the bedroom. My jaw dropped as I looked around at all the candles that were lit. I then saw Felix standing in the center of the room with a hand extended out towards me, "May I have this dance Señora Madrigal?" I smiled, "Of course Señor Madrigal." I took his hand and we began to dance around the room. "Why did you do all of this?" I asked. He looked at me confused, "Isn't it obvious. I thought that the wedding was a pretty good indicator, but I guess I could say it again, I love you." I smiled, "I love you too." I leaned in closer to his chest and rested my head on his shoulder, "You are too good to be true Felix." I could feel the smile in his voice, "Hey it's Felix Madrigal now." He kissed the top of my head and we danced the rest of the night.

(Felix POV)

- a few years later -

Thunder and lightning filled the air and all I wanted to do was get back to Casita, but I couldn't. I looked down at the chorizo in my hand that I had to get from Luca, the absolute worst part of my day. Pepa was at home without me and about to give birth to our first child. I was going to miss it. I couldn't believe that I was missing this. I had been pulled into the church because it was too dangerous to travel right now, but I kept trying to make my way out. Padre Sanchez kept pulling me back though, "As soon as the rain lets up a little you can go out but, you getting hurt won't do anything to help her right now." I sighed nodding my head.

(Pepa POV)

I wanted Felix to be back here. Why did I send him away? Why wasn't he here right now? I don't think I can do this alone. I kept screaming and I knew that the world outside was definitely reflecting this. Mama was trying to help but, she was more focused on the baby and Julieta and Augustin were busy taking care of Isabella right now. I saw Bruno in the corner of the room, "What are you doing-" I started to ask when I started another contraction. He came over and grabbed my hand, "Hey I know that you want Felix to be here and I'm sorry that I can't bring him here. What I can do though is hold your hand." I angrily glared at him but my gaze softened slightly. "Come on, I ruined your wedding, don't be afraid to hurt me."

I let out the scream I was holding in as I squeezed his hand. A few more contractions passed and Bruno was there for it all. This last one had been really difficult and he never pulled away from my hand. As the feeling passed I had some tears that had begun to fall as I looked over at him nodding my head, "Thank you." He just smiled nodding his head, "Of course Dolores. I'm your brother I'll always be here for you." I smiled up at him, "Do you think that you can always be here for the baby?" He cocked his head to the side, "What do you mean?" I smiled, "Will you be the baby's godfather." He smiled at me nodding his head, "What can I say, I'll always be there for Dolores." I looked up at him eyes wide, "Dolores? It's going to be a girl?" He looked up at the sky and back at me, "Sorry. Take it out on my hand." A few moments later I began to scream again as I squeezed the life out of his hand.

(Felix POV)

Soon the rain started to let up and I rain out of the church and up the steps of Casita. I saw Bruno leave the room and I looked at him, "How is everyone?" I asked. He smiled at me, "Your wife and daughter are doing great." "Daughter?" I said as the word got choked up in my throat. He nodded his head, "Yeah. They are waiting for you." I nodded my head and I made my way inside to see them both sitting down on the bed. My girls.

I climbed into the bed with them and Pepa looked up at me, "You made it back." I nodded my head, "I'm so sorry I wasn't here." She smiled, "It's ok." She handed me the bundle and I looked down at our daughter. She looked up at me with wide eyes as I saw tufts of her curly hair coming out from under the blanket. I gently stroked the pieces and smiled as I looked down at her. Pepa placed her hand gently on top of mine, "I'm glad I destroyed Bruno's hand instead of yours." I let out a half laugh, "I am going to owe him for that." She smiled at me, "I kind of already asked him to be her godfather." I nodded my head, "Yeah he earned it. So what do you want to name her?" She smiled at me, "I was thinking Dolores?" I smiled looking down at her, "Dolores. I love it." I looked at my girls and smiled. This was only the beginning of our family and I couldn't wait to see how it grew in the future.
