I do not own Encanto

" YOU'VE GOT TO STOP, MIRABEL!"

Mirabel's smile turned to a frown. Isabela backed away a little. So did Luisa. They wanted to help their baby sister, but they didn't want Abuela to get upset with them.

" The cracks started because of you. Bruno left because of you. Luisa is losing her gift, Isabela is out of control, because of you! I do not know why you weren't given a gift, but that is not an excuse for you TO HURT THIS FAMILY!" Abuela rebuked.

The rest of the family had gathered around by now. Abuela scowled at Mirabel. Isabela and Luisa looked ashamed. Mirabel looked shocked and hurt.

" I… will never be good enough for you… will I?" she asked.

Abuela's stern look did not fade.

" No matter how hard I try. No matter how hard any of us tries. Luisa will never be strong enough. Isabela will never be perfect enough. Bruno left because you only saw the worst in her-"

" BRUNO DID NOT CARE ABOUT THIS FAMILY!"

" HE LOVES THIS FAMILY! I LOVE THIS FAMILY! YOU'RE THE ONE WHO DOESN'T CARE! YOU'RE THE ONE BREAKING OUR HOME!" Mirabel screamed.

" Don't you ever-"

" THE MIRACLE IS DYING BECAUSE OF YOU!"

Everyone stood there in silence. Abuela and Mirabel both breathed heavily. Cracks spreaded across Casita. Surprisingly, they disappeared. Mirabel walked away.

" Where are you going?" Alma inquired.

" Somewhere far away from here. I am done. I love this family. Really, I do. But all of you have hurt me time and time again. The worst part is, you never even noticed. You took a family picture without me. And guess what? You didn't notice. I was treated differently. I was an outcast. I was unloved. And why? Because of some STUPID gift! I have been waiting on a miracle. It never came. Everyday just gotten worse. And you wanna know what? It's never going to get better. As long as we have that candle, nothing or no one will change. You all chose a candle over me, your familia. And I will never forgive you for that. It's too painful to stay here. I'm sorry."

Mirabel ran out of Casita. The whole family gasped. Alma's eyes were wide. Antonio cried. He yelled for Mirabel, but she never came. It began dark and dreary outside. Mirabel ran and ran. She didn't look back. She wanted to, but she found that she couldn't. The townspeople just watched her. They didn't know if they should stop her or not.

Antonio cried in his parents' arms. Isabela sobbed into Luisa's chest. Alma stood there in silence and shock.

" I should have stood up for her, Luisa," Isabela cried.

" What do you mean?" Luisa asked.

" I let her take all the blame. It wasn't all her. I got caught up in the moment. I used my powers. I was mostly to blame. Still, I let Mirabel take it all. I'm the worst sister ever," Isabela expressed.

" No, you're not," Luisa cooed while rubbing her sister's back.

" She's right. I'm the only one to blame here."

Everyone gasped. They turned around. Alma stood there with a determined look on her face.

" I lost sight of reality. I forgot why we gotten the miracle. I forgot who was most important. Mirabel is gone because of me. I was too harsh on her. On all of you. I must make it up to her. I must find her."

" You mean we must find her," Dolores corrected.

" Yeah, it doesn't matter who's fault it is. All that matters is getting Mirabel back," Julieta chimed in.

Everyone chattered in agreement. They set out to find Mirabel. They had to find her. They would find her. At least, that's what they told themselves…

Five months later:

Everyone sat at the table in silence. They had given up on finding Mirabel. They looked everywhere for her. Dolores couldn't hear her. That meant she must've been out of the Encanto. Finding her would almost be impossible. Dolores sipped her tea.

DING DONG!

" I'll go get it," Dolores said.

She got up. She opened the front door. Her sad and uninterested expression turned to shock.

" SQUEAK!"

" DOLORES, WHO IS IT?" Alma inquired.

" MIRABEL!" Dolores croaked.

Everyone pushed and shoved their way towards the door. Dolores stood there, frozen. Everyone else did too. It was indeed Mirabel. There was something wrong, though. Mirabel was cut, bruised, bloody, and looked like she'd been stabbed a bunch of times. She had a black and swollen eye. Her nose was bleeding. Her lip was busted.

Isabela was the first to snap out of the trance. She ran over and grabbed her baby sister. Mirabel yelped in pain.

" I think her arm is sprained," Isabela said.

Julieta felt Mirabel's right arm. Mirabel let out another cry of pain. Julieta sighed and shook her head.

" I'm afraid it's worse than that. It's broken," she announced.

" Well, get her in. Get her in," Alma commanded.

Julieta gently took Mirabel's other arm. It didn't seem to bother her. Mirabel allowed her mom to lead her into the house. Julieta took her to the nursery and laid her on the bed. Mirabel whimpered.

" I'm going to get you an arepa," Julieta whispered.

She exited the room. Isabela entered the room. Mirabel didn't even look at her. Isabela sat down next to her on the bed.

" What happened? Where did you go? Who did this to you?" she questioned.

" It doesn't matter," Mirabel weakly muttered.

" Of course it does. How can you say that?"

" You didn't stand up for me. You just let me take all the blame," Mirabel whispered.

" I know. I'm sorry," Isabela apologized.

" Someone is out to kill this family," Mirabel murmured.

" What? Who?" Isabela questioned.

" I don't know. He was wearing a cloak," Mirabel told her.

" Is that what happened? Did he try to kill you?"

" Yes. He's the reason I came back. I honestly thought about just letting myself die. But I couldn't. Not without warning you guys," Mirabel said.

Isabela opened her mouth to say something else. Juliete entered the room with a plate of arepas. She handed Mirabel one. Mirabel shook her head.

" C'mon, eat, mi mariposa," Julieta commanded.

She held the food arepa up to Mirabel's mouth. Mirabel took a bite out of it. Her eyes lit up. It'd clearly been a while since she last ate. However, after finishing one arepa, nothing happened.

" What? How is that possible?" Julieta gasped.

She gave Mirabel another arepa. Still, nothing happened. Alma entered the room with Pepa and Felix.

" How's she doing?" Alma questioned.

" My food, it- it isn't working on her," Julieta told her.

" Magic," Alma sighed.

" You mean like the people who invaded this kingdom 50 years ago?" Pepa inquired.

" Afraid so," Alma confirmed.

" Mirabel said someone's out to kill us," Isabela announced.

" Who?" Julieta questioned.

" She said she didn't know. He was wearing a cloak. He tried to kill her," Isabela answered.

" They're surely after revenge. I'm the one who got away," Alma muttered.

" No, that can't be it. Maybe part of it. Not all of it, though," Pepa disagreed.

" It doesn't matter. We need to find who it is and stop him," Julieta stated.

" I'll inform the rest of the family and the townspeople," Alma said.

" Don't worry, mi mariposa, you're safe now," Julieta cooed, giving Mirabel a kiss on the forehead.

" He's coming for you," Mirabel hissed.

Those were her last words. She fainted. Julieta and Isabela shared a worried glance. Who did this and why?
