Hi Everyone, I hope you all love this story and love the concept of seeing Order 66 happen in front of your eyes. I've had this idea in my head for a while now and decided to write it down on paper, as an outline first. This week I took what I had in the outline and typed it up and then had it beta read. I want to thank my beta readers for helping me out and taking the time to read it and suggest new idea I hadn't considered for the story and am looking forward to sending them more of the story. Don't forget to comment and follow the story to read more. I've enjoyed writing this story and can't wait for you all to see where it goes and the adventure Barris goes on. Enjoy…
Barris Offee
Takes place right before Order 66 and during the Great Jedi Purge. Darth Maul makes his way to the Prism and breaks out Barris Offee. All he asks in return was for her to bring Grogu to him. Just as the Emperor ordered Order 66, Barris was breaking into the temple to find the child. Question was would she deliver the child or bring him to those who survived Order 66.
Prologue
Barris Offee was sent to the prison during the Clone Wars, after she had grown disillusioned with the Jedi Council and their role in the war. In her opinion, the Jedi had lost their way, and the citizens of the galaxy no longer trusted them. Many people felt forgotten by the Jedi and began to lose faith in them.
Hence, a plan was devised to cause more distrust, even leading the Jedi Council to believe that Padawan, Ahsoka Tano was behind the explosion in the Jedi Temple Hanger. She had been charged with the murders of Letta Turmond and several clone troopers, but in the end the truth came out.
In the aftermath of Ahsoka's arrest, all charges were dropped against her, and Barris went before a tribunal and expressed her concerns about what the Jedi had become.
She was sentenced to prison and taken away by the Temple Guards not to be heard again. After being stripped of her Jedi entitlements, Ahsoka opted to leave the Jedi instead of returning as a Jedi Knight, and she has never been heard from again.
In the Diab system, a prison called the Prism was constructed by the Jedi Council to house the most dangerous criminals and force users during the Clone Wars. During reopening of the Prism, a Jedi Master was assigned by the Council to oversee the prisoners. The identity of the Jedi Master was never revealed. There was no information about the Jedi master, other than that she was female. At the facility were 100 Security Droids, whose job was to help with daily operations.
Barris was sitting on the floor of her cell and was deep in meditation. She was nice and calm and in a relaxed state. While in her meditation, she had a vision and sees the deaths of Ahsoka Tano and her former Master Luminara Unduli. They had been eliminated by their clones. Why was the force showing this to her?
The sounds of her door slide open revealing the unknown Jedi Master standing before her. She looked at Barris and said, "I'm sorry I didn't mean to interrupt you. I'll come back."
"You didn't and please come in." Barris replied, as she opened her eyes and looked towards the doorway.
Barris stood up and pointed at her chair and indicated for her to sit. She grabbed the glass sitting by the sink and poured herself a glass of water and drank the contents of the water. The unknown Jedi Master looked at her and said, "I see you took my advice and have begun to mediate."
"Yea well not much to do here, but think." Barris replied sarcastically.
The unknown Jedi Master could feel that there was something on Barris's mind and need some time to talk about it. She looked at Barris and said, "I can feel you had an experience that has made you uneasy."
"I had a vision about my Master Luminara and Ahsoka Tano and they were killed by their clones." Barris replied folding her arms and staring out the window of her cell.
The Unknown Master felt her emotion and was worried it might lead her down the path to the dark side. She looked at her and said, "You must train yourself to let go of everything you stand to lose."
"And if I can't." Barris replied, as she turned to look at her and in an angry tone.
The Jedi Master looked at her and said, "Then I can't help you."
"My anger has always clouded my judgment, but I never crossed that line. The first time I used the darkside it made me stronger. In the past I resented the Jedi and wanted nothing to do with them."
"I almost joined the darkside because of how I felt, but now after learning these techniques and mediation. It has given me new insights in what I want in life." Barris replied.
Barris had been trained in the art of Jar'Kai and Soresu, which was the third of the seven classic forms of lightsaber combat. Soresu was created during a time when blasters were on the rise. It focused on strong defensive techniques and it would allow a well-trained Master to be effective against multiple opponents, who had blasters or lightsabers and prolonged a battle. One of her another abilities was in Telekinesis and force healing was taught to her by Stass Allie.
The unknown Jedi Master remembered her lessons and said, "You get to choose your own path. Don't let others choose it for you. "
"I will think about what you said and give you my answer." Barris replied.
The unknown Jedi Master nodded in acknowledgement and proceeded to head back to her duties. She knocked at the door and then said, "Guard open the door."
The door slid open and the unknown Jedi Master walked through the door and went about her duties. She could feel the conflict within Barris's heart and knew she was a skilled warrior.
Back on the bridge of the station, the unknown Jedi Master watched on the radar, an unknown ship entered their region of space. She immediately contacted the unknown pilot and got no response to her hails.
The security droids were about to put the shields up, only to see the ship speed up and crash through the docking bay door.
She looked at her security droids and said, "Take a team of droids and find out who docked at the station."
Security droid leave her side and head for the elevator and head down to where the ship had landed. The alarms began to blare all over the station causing the prisoners to shout and wonder what had happened. Barris who was resting stood sitting at the edge of her bed wondering what had happen and what caused the sounds of a ship crashing the Prism.
Sitting at the edge of the bed, she was deeply concerned about the premonition. It preoccupied her mind and worried her. Only to be brought back to reality by the sounds of blaster fire and what sounded like a lightsaber. A red blade pierced through the door, as it slid opened revealing the person standing before her.
Darth Maul stood at the edge of the door and looked at her and said, "You will leave your cell or die by my blade."
"I see you aren't giving me much of a choice. I will leave with you. But I don't understand why you would rescue me unless someone wanted me free." She replied and followed Maul down the hallway, not before seeing all the bodies in his wake.
At the end of the hallway, awaiting their arrival stood a female looking Jedi with 10 Security droids beside her. She looked at them and said, "Stay where you are and surrender."
Maul smiled and force pulled her and grabbed her by the neck. Holding her by the throat Maul began squishing her throat causing her to grasp for air. He pulled his dual lightsaber from his belt and ignited the one side. Maul jabbed the blade through her lower ride side, then he tossed her a side. Immediately, he turned his attention to the 10 security droids and killing them with ease.
Barris could see the unknown Jedi Master scream in agony and knew she was bleeding out and needed to save her. She placed her hand on the wound and began force healing it. Maul returned to her side and was about to strike the unarmed Jedi.
"No."
Barris shouted and used her force ability and forced choked Maul into the air in anger. She released him and snapped out of the mind state she was in. This wasn't the path she wanted to walk and dropped Maul to the ground. He stood up and walked up to her and grabbed her by the throat and said, "You hesitated to kill me and that can get you killed."
He released her and dropped her next to the Jedi and then walked off in the direction of his ship. He was taken by surprise at how strong in the force Barris had grown since the early days of the Clone Wars.
She knelt down next to the unconscious and checked for a pulse and felt one. The unknown Jedi Master slowly came to and saw Barris standing next to her. She looked at her and said, "Why did you help me?"
"I made my choice and decided it was the right thing to do." Barris replied.
With the help from Barris, she aided the unknown Jedi master and placed her body again the wall of the hallway. She hesitated at first to grab her weapon, but in the end picked up the lightsaber hilt and belt. Barris now standing turned to look at Maul running off down the hall.
"Thank you. What will you do now?" The unknown Jedi Master asked.
Barris looked at the Jedi and said, "Train and from there I haven't thought that far."
The unknown Jedi Master said, "Don't let the darkness win and become the Grey Jedi I see you to be."
"You always saw the best in me, even when I didn't, so thank you. I really hope someday, we can meet again. Goodbye." Barris replied and ran in the direction of the lightsaber sounds.
Together they made their way to the location, where his ship had been waiting. Maul and Barris arrived just outside the ship and he pressed a button on the ship causing the ramp to appear. They get on board and begin taking off towards the entrance of the spaceport. She looked at him and said, "Why would you free me from the prison and how did you know I was there?"
"I was told you'd be there." Maul replied.
"That isn't the answer, I was expecting Maul. Give me a name." Barris asked.
Maul looked at her and said, "General Grievous on Utapau."
"Why would he tell you about me in prison?" Barris asked.
Maul smirked and said, "I heard your name in a recording while I remained in the shadows. My Master hoped to train you in the ways of the Sith. "
"Well I hate to disappoint you, but I am not going to be easily turned like you were." Barris replied.
Maul said, "It's only a matter of time. I felt your anger when you drew to the darkside and force choked me. It made you strong and I can help you harness that energy and become my apprentice."
"Don't make me kill you." Barris replied angrily and pulled out the lightsaber and pointed it at Maul 's head.
She dropped the lightsaber at her feet and walked off and headed for a different part of the ship. Barris could feel the darkside swelling within her and decided to meditate and calm her nerves down. Darth Maul knelt down and grabbed the light saber off the floor, and then walked towards the middle of the ship. He tossed the lightsaber on her lap and looked at her and said, "I want you to find a young Padawan named Grogu.
Barris opened her eyes and looked up at him and said, "I've heard of that Padawan, but have never met him. What makes you think I'll help you?"
"You cannot stop what has been set in motion by Sidious. It's coming and you alone can't stop it." Maul replied.
"What has been set in motion?" Barris asked.
Maul looked at her and said, "I wasn't told the specifics of the plan since my Master decided I wasn't going to be his Apprentice. But he had his eye on someone else."
"What did he have his eye on?" Barris asked, as she stood up to face Maul. She placed her lightsaber back on her belt.
Maul looked at her and said, "During my last battle with some clones I used the force to pull some disturbing information about one of his plots. It has to do with Skywalker becoming his new Apprentice."
She was surprised to hear the name of Skywalker and looked at him and said, "What makes you think he'll turn to the Darkside of the force?"
"He has been grooming him ever since he met him on Naboo. I also learned that Darth Sidious has begun his plans for the end of the Jedi." Maul replied.
Barris was shocked by the revelation and plans that his master had for the Jedi. She was also concerned about her master. It appears that her premonition was a warning from the force about what was to come. But how would the force know?
She was still confused by the notion that there was a Jedi purge coming and that he knew about and did nothing to warn them. She said, "Why not use the information and tell the Jedi about this?"
"They would never believe such a notion that one of their own was being groomed by Sidious. They'd rather place me in jail or better yet kill me. Maul replied.
Barris said, "I see your point Maul, but I must make my way to Coruscant and warn them."
"You are a fool if you think they will welcome you with open arms after what you did." Maul replied.
Barris said, "Then what would you have me do.
"Bring the child to Dathomir while I set my plans for the Siege of Mandalore and lure Both Anakin and Kenobi. I will kill Anakin and prevent Sidious from achieving his new apprentice." Maul replied.
Barris looked back at him and said, "Well then, I'll find another means to travel."
Maul grabbed Barris by the arm and threw her in an escape pod and launched it into space. He then plotted a course for Mandalore to finalize his plans for Obi-wan and Anakin Skywalker.
