Seven years after after ending a plot to brainwash Valentina Grady, her cousin Reese was now a US Marine in the famed 2nd US Marine Division, more precisely in an Infantry Company of the division. But Valentina's life on Isla Nublar wouldn't last long, since Jurassic World's dinosaurs had to be transfered to the mainland before transfering them on a sanctuary island while the employees all quit afterwards, including Owen.
Speaking of Owen, he and Claire didn't date anymore but they did remain good friends while Owen dated Lex Murphy before both of them moved to a small nation named Genovia. And it was in the context of the invasion of Ukraine that Reese was deployed as part of NATO's forward presence, which comprised eight NATO battlegroups in Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Georgia and Bulgaria to deter any Russian adventurism. Barry, Lex and Owen also bought a bar in Genovia where they met Owen's sister Sonja and Owen's former battle buddy Joey Brigman who owned the bar right next to his.
But back to Reese, who now disembarked the C-17 Globemaster III carrying her company to Genovia, where they joined their British Royal Marine allies, as well as several waiting helicopters. Reese then saw her commanding officer, Major Dan Cummings, giving orders to the battalion and introducing everyone to each other since they would be living together for twelve months straight before rotating. Just as Reese took her place in the NATO battalion, Major Cummings climbed on top of a Humvee where a female US Marine captain was already standing.
"Attention!" The captain said.
After Reese and every other NATO troop stood at attention, Major Cummings said, "At ease!"
After Reese and the others stood at ease, the US Marine officer, who was in charge of the battle group, said, "Okay troops. We'll be here for twelve months, on a rotational basis. But our job won't be to just deter Ivan from attacking in the Mediterranean Sea, but also to improve interoperability between American, British and Genovian troops. You're all part of NATO's exercise Maritime Endeavor, which means we have to work with our allies, like in the three Baltic States, Slovakia, Poland, Romania, Hungary, Georgia and Bulgaria where thousands of NATO forces were stationed in response to Russian forces being illegally stationed at the borders of Russia. So I expect you to all display good behavior and to be disciplined and efficient troops for the whole duration of this exercise alongside the British Royal Marines from 47 Commando. Any question?"
Seeing no one was going to answer, a British captain said, "Dismissed! And welcome to Genovia!"
With that, Reese and the other NATO troops went to retrieve their equipment. Reese's equipment consisted of her heavy bulletproof vest loaded with grenades and Magpul polymer magazines and pistol magazines, a Kevlar-made heavy combat helmet, her backpack and a loaded SIG-Sauer M17 handgun. Reese then took her M4A1 carbine which was fitted with a multipurpose Trijicon VCOG scope, an AN/PEQ-15 laser, a torchlight, a vertical foregrip and a Crane buttstock. Reese then loaded her M4A1 carbine before boarding a CH-53K King Stallion helicopter while other US Marines and the British Royal Marines boarded CH-53K King Stallion and AW-101 Merlin heavy transport helicopters, which were all escorted by AW-159 gunships and US Navy MH-60R attack helicopters. After everyone was in the vehicles, the helicopters then started rolling towards it's destination, which was placed somewhere near the airfield where the helicopters took off.
Once there, Reese realized the American forces would operate under British command despite US troops being the most numerous forces of the battle group. But this didn't bother Reese, since she was a US Marine who got used to operate alongside allies, in particular the British Royal Marines with whom she trained so often that she knew all of their procedures and also knew how dangerous and deadly these Brits really were, since the Royal Marines had commando training, like the US Marines did.
But if one person disagreed with that view, it was Valentina, who was still as naive and obedient as she was when she was a toddler. Valentina still believed weapons were useless and evil in nature, even to their users and feared anything military-related, even dreading her cousin joining the US Marines instead of the Air Force. This time however, Valentina was living with her uncle, but the little girl intensely disliked Lex, who she saw as a stranger, unlike Reese, who got used to Lex dating Owen and even tolerated Lex as her stepmother. This, combined with Valentina being a girl scout, created a chasm between the two cousins, a chasm between the naive Valentina and the responsible and adult-behaving Reese. Little did Valentina know she would be reunited with her cousin faster than expected.
