Spring 2017

The case was done, the day almost over, but Kensi still didn't feel like going home.

'Everything okay, Miss Blye?' Hetty asked.

'Not really. I'm not sure why either.' Kensi replied.

'Well, come over to my office. We'll discuss over a nice cup of tea.'

Hetty's office

'Something about the case troubling you?' Hetty asked.

'I guess. The mother I talked to today was expressing concern over being able to get pregnant, and then it hit me: I might have problems getting pregnant one day because of my spinal cord injury.' Kensi replied.

'Do you know for sure if you'll have trouble?'

'The doctor says it's likely. And, I don't know what I'll do if I can't have a baby.'

'I get it. I didn't have a spinal cord injury, but for some reason. You never do forget the day you're too old to have babies.' Hetty sadly replied.

'How did it feel? Did you ever want to have babies?' Kensi asked.

'I never expected to marry, or have a baby. But when I was told I couldn't have children because of my age, I, took it harder then I thought I would. I drank a bit, woke up with a hangover and felt terrible. I eventually went to see a therapist for a bit.'

'That sounds awful.'

'It was. It was like a small part of me wanted to have children, and then reality full on hit me. I'm not saying it'll happen to you like that. But, when the day comes that you're too old to have a baby, and you need someone to talk to, call me.' Hetty said.

'Thank you. And, thanks for the tea.' Kensi replied.

'You're welcome.'

4 years later

Hetty heard a knock at the door, when she answered the door, it was Kensi, and she looked really sad.

'It, doesn't look like I'll ever get pregnant, natural or through fertility treatments, and I don't know what to do!' She replied, trying to hold back tears.

'Ohhhh.' Then the 2 ladies hugged.

'Shh shh. It'll be okay, dear.' Hetty soothingly said.

'No! No it won't!'

'It will. It may not look like it now, but it will. Trust me.'
