This is a one-shot but it's going to have a direct sequel, you'll see why at the end. Technically ALL of these stories have sequels because it's part of a series! The first story in the series is Star-Crossed and the previous Luisa installment is Book Club, but there are also the Isabela fics. Check them all out honestly because they all go together and they're all building up to something really fun and great and I just have a lot of fun with my OCs and Isabela and Luisa.
"Ready for book club?" Luisa asked, linking arms with Alejandra as they walked from the library to the casita.
"Very." Alejandra took Luisa's hand and pressed a kiss to it. Luisa blushed and snuck a kiss to the top of Alejandra's head.
"I like hanging out with your family," Alejandra said.
"Yeah, they really like you too. I think…" Luisa got serious for a moment.
"I think I'm almost ready to tell them. I mean, if you are."
Alejandra beamed, "Absolutely. As soon as you're ready let's do it."
"Let's play it safe for a little longer with another book club, and see where it goes from there."
"Sounds perfect."
They unhooked their arms when they got near the house and then headed inside.
"Let's go tell my tía that it's time for book club. Dolores probably already knows, since she hears everything."
"Alright." They headed to Pepa and Félix's room and knocked.
"Come in," Pepa called in a quiet voice. When Luisa opened the door she saw that Pepa was in a rocking chair, holding Antonio.
"Hi, Luisa, hello, Alejandra, I can't make it to book club today, Antonio had a bit of a rough night so I need to stay here with him. You have fun, though."
"Alright, maybe next time. Feel better, Antonio." Luisa gently shut the door.
"I guess it's just you, me, and Dolores, then," Luisa said.
"Actually, I have a date with Mariano. Guess I didn't realize that book club was today." Dolores let out a pleased little squeak, nodded at Luisa, and walked away. Luisa beamed and wrapped her arm around Alejandra, not taking the time to figure out if anyone else was watching as they headed to Luisa's room.
Bruno stepped out of the shadows and knocked on his sister's door when they were out of sight.
"Come in," Pepa said wearily, even quieter now that Antonio had fallen asleep in her lap.
"Who was that with Luisa?"
"That's Alejandra. She's a librarian, apparently. We have a book club together."
"Here? Instead of at the library?"
Pepa shrugged.
"She's a lovely young lady."
"She and Luisa do seem very close…" Bruno said thoughtfully.
Pepa's eyebrows raised.
"What are you insinuating?"
"Nothing! Nothing… But if there were something between them, I would obviously support Luisa."
"As would I! Do you think I wouldn't support my own niece?" There was a distant rumble of thunder and then Pepa took a deep breath.
"Well, I happen to remember when this family was not so supportive," Bruno said with a shrug, "I just want what's best for my nieces and nephews." He reached out and gently stroked Antonio's hair.
"I do too. But it won't do us any good to jump to conclusions… Perhaps you could have a vision about them?"
Bruno shook his head, "Too risky. But I do have other ways of figuring things out… No matter what, we're going to support Luisa, right?"
"Right. I'm not going back to when we didn't support each other. The cost is far too great." Pepa smiled sadly at her brother, who nodded in agreement. That lack of support had nearly torn this family apart. It could never happen again.
