Living in the Highlands
Lady Countryrose
Ch. 3
The next morning found Severus Snape, checking on young Harry Potter. Only to see the young boy playing with a house elf. With a sigh, he left Harry be and went down the stairs. After finding himself lost a couple of times. He finally found his way to the dining room. Where he found Minerva with Harry.
He then made his way around the table. Before he found his seat near Minerva. Across from Harry and sat down. The three then enjoyed their own breakfast. Once done, Minerva had called the elves to take stuff away.
"Severus," she turned her green eyes towards him. With her hands in her lap. "I would like to discuss how we should raise Harry."
Severus grabbed his cup of coffee. He then turned towards her. His ankle resting on his knee. "Yes?"
Minerva had taken a deep breath. "I will watch Harry, mainly with the elves. But I want you to show him the way of a gentleman. Plus, I would like him to know the ways of the Highlands. With sword and battle knowledge."
Severus gave her a thoughtful look. "I agree. We need him to be smart and ready. We don't know if Death Eaters would come and harm him. Or, simply, a Dark Lord."
"That is what I am afraid of," huffed Minerva. She glanced at Harry with a kind smile. "Should he learn protective Runes for added protection? Since he can't have a wand until he is eleven."
"Minerva," he looked at her. His dark eyes flashed with a hint of emotion. "He will have to learn things, and I agree. But he will have to learn through me how Death Eaters act, and how to read them. He will have a better chance with us, as his guardians."
Minerva nodded her head. "You are right, Severus. So, what are your plans today?"
"Packing up my home and bring what I need here. Then set up the potions' room that you have." He finished his coffee. "We are going to need things on hand. Since we have a growing boy on our hands."
Minerva chuckled as she laughed. Her eyes looked towards the young boy. "Yeah, a growing boy. Come, Harry, let's get you outside and enjoy the highland weather."
With that, Severus had gotten up and made his way to the front door. He walked down the drive. Once out of the gates, he popped out of existence. Only to pop back in, at the most digressing place in England. Spenders End.
Once inside, he packed and warded the house. Taking only his books, clothes and potion stuff. After everything was brought into his travel bag. He left the house, with thick wards on it, and left.
Severus then went to Diagon Alley and bought some needed things. Not just potions and ingredients. But also things for Harry, like clothes, books and a toy wand and sword. 'It's never too early for him to learn.'
After a good hour in the alley. He headed back to McGonagall Manor and set to work in the basement. By dinner time, he had shown himself, and gave the things he bought for Harry to Minerva. She gasped in surprise, after seeing a highland looking mini sword.
Minerva smiled wholeheartedly. "Thank you, Severus." She then turned towards Harry, after he had finished his food, and showed him the toy sword.
Harry had giggled, causing Severus to smile. 'Lily, forgive me. He is going to be a highland warrior. Just like how his Gram wants him to.'
After dinner, Severus had taken Harry to his room. Where he washed and dried him, before putting him into snitch pj's. Then went over to a rocking chair and sat down with Harry.
"Let's have a story, shall we, Harry." The young boy laid down on his shoulder. Just as Severus pulled out his wand. Casting images on the ceiling.
"In the kingdom far away." An image of Hogwarts came to be. "A Queen Lily with firelight hair and green emerald eyes." Lily Potter came into the picture.
"Ma," Harry giggled at the image.
'I am doing this for Lily.' Severus smiled, as he held Harry close. "King James."
"Da."
"With his dog and wolf."
"Paw and Mo," smiled Harry. After seeing the other two on the ceiling.
"They lived in a kingdom that was surrounded by shadow and snakes." Showing a ghostly image of the mark he carried. "Not all are evil, only a couple fought within the shadow." Showing an image of himself, helping the light.
"Those who are pure of light, fight for those that can't help themselves." Showing shadowed images of muggles falling and fire burning. "Heroes are spoken of legend and myth, just simply living. Harry, you are that hero. Because you simply lived…"
