Living in the Highlands
Lady Countryrose
Ch. 4
Over the years, Severus Snape would tell Harry the same story. Only adding a few things as he had gotten older. Along with teaching Harry to use a toy sword and wand. By the time, Harry reached the age of ten. He learned how to use a real sword.
With the knowledge that it is never a good idea to use against anyone. But only to use it to block and defend. Unless there was no other choice. But in time, it had helped Harry with some anger issues.
During primary school, Harry had a spike of accidental magic. Which latched out, after a couple of bullies had tried to hurt him. Only for said bullies to have spiked orange hair.
Severus Snape was the unlucky one to go to the school. He found the reason for why he was called. Only to turn his sharp eyes on the principle. "Why does this have anything to do with my nephew?"
"Well, you see, Mr. Snape, these boys were chasing after Mr. Potter…"
Severus glared at the man. "Now we're getting somewhere," he purred. He turned towards Harry, only to see the young boy, biting his lips from laughing. "Harry, what were they doing?"
"They were chasing me, Uncle Sev. They said that they were going to give me a whirly."
Severus's eyes flashed in anger. "Where was the teacher?"
"Watching," stated Harry, he lowered himself down in his chair.
Severus then turned towards the man before him. His eyebrow raised.
The principal gulped, "I will have the boys suspended from school for a couple of weeks. Including Mr. Potter."
Severus just glared at the man. But waved for Harry to follow him. The two had left the school before Severus turned to the boy. "I don't like bullying as much as the next guy, but orange hair?"
Harry shrugged his shoulders. "I don't control what's going on, Uncle Sev. All I thought about was orange cotton candy."
Severus shook his head. "Well, I guess I should tell you about Hogwarts. You'll be starting on September 1st, after the summer months are over."
Harry looked at him in disbelief. "It's not even the end of May, yet. Does Gram know?"
Severus smirked, "Harry, Gram and I work at Hogwarts. We had special permission to come home every night for you. As well as spending weekends at home."
Harry sighed, "Is that why Dolly liked to take care of me? Because no one was really home."
Severus groaned, he hadn't realized that Minerva hadn't told him about their work arrangements. "Since you are not going to school for a couple of weeks. I should bring you to Hogwarts. But you will have to stay in my personal rooms there."
Harry nodded his head. "Yes, Uncle Sev."
Severus led Harry to a back alley away from the school. With a twist and a hold of Harry. They were back at McGonagall Manor. The two entered through the gates, then into the house.
"Severus," he heard Minerva called out. The two made their way to the sitting room. "Harry," she smiled. "What happened at school that Severus had to get you?"
Harry turned towards Severus with a plea in his eyes. But Severus raised his eyebrow at him. "I hate how you use that on me, it's funnier when it's towards other people," Harry huffed. He then turned towards Minerva. "Sorry, Gram, I had a magical outburst at school today."
"Oh," she glanced at him in wonder.
"I turned some bully's hair orange," he gave a sheepish smile. "Spiked orange hair."
Minerva had chuckled loudly. Trying to hold her belly as more laughs had ripped through her. "Oh, Harry. That reminds me of how your father, James, had done."
Severus nodded his head. "Yes, on St. Patrick's Day he had turned everyone's hair green."
Harry smiled softly. "What else did he do?"
Severus thought about it for a moment. "He had made the suits of armor sing Christmas songs, in December, one year."
Severus had made himself promise that he wouldn't tell Harry about his father's bullying ways. It wasn't Harry's fault, about who his father was. No, Harry will only know his parents with good memories attached to them.
"I am also kicked out of school for two weeks, Gram."
"What," gasped, Minerva with heated anger in her eyes.
"Now Minerva, Harry will spend time with me. My chambers are near the potions' classroom. He will be fine."
She glared at him for a moment and then huffed out. "I guess that should be fine." She then waved the two off, since there was time before dinner.
Severus had decided to work with Harry with his sword fighting. He had found that Harry had gotten better with time. Instead of an obvious looking fight. It became an intensive dance.
Another thing that Severus had taught Harry was to read minds and how to block someone from doing it to him. It wasn't easy, but Harry had managed to use a mirror-like mind to deflect someone. It was something that Severus had never thought to use. He would normally use a library with a moat around it. But mirrors, it seemed a much better option.
Harry had also gotten better at reading people with their body language. It was one of the reasons that Harry was good at blocking Severus from their sword fighting.
Since the moment that Severus had been with Harry, Draco Malfoy would come over for him to spend time with his godfather. Which caused Draco and Harry to become friends.
Only Narcissa Malfoy knew about the friendship. Not allowing Lucius to know of such friendship, due to those he had worked with. Which Draco had learned early in age, how to keep a secret. He didn't want to lose Harry as a good friend. Away from his father's influence.
Severus had also taught Draco about sword fighting. In most cases, the boys would fight each other. While Severus tried to correct their stance or help them become a smaller target.
Shortly after they had started, a house elf popped in and told them to wash up before dinner. So they did, and came down in clean dinner clothes. As Harry had grown older, Severus was ordered by Minerva to teach him high society manners. How to dress and act at a high function dinner.
Severus had soon found that he was happy how life had turned out.
