Chapter 12

Author's note; this is it, the day of the judging of wedding dresses.

Alice and the others spent the next morning finishing their wedding dresses. The boys, the buddies, the nationals and Lady Rose watched as Alice finished her wedding dress.

"Your owner is a great designer Rosebud" whispered Nathanial.

"Thanks," said Rosebud smiling. "She mostly loves soccer, but she loves to design like me."

"You think they'll pick Alice's dress?" asked Nathalie.

"I don't know," said Mudbud. "That pampered lady Bethany and her mother are gonna be judging the dresses. And they're so stuck up."

"She always acts so nice," said Nancy. "She'd pick it just to make her look good."

Just then prince Edward walked in with Bethany and countess Alyvia. Bethany wore a white gown with light blue ribbons on the shoulders, a blue band around the waist and a blue bow behind the waist. Alyvia wore a lilac argyle pattern gown with a darker shade on the bodice.

"Now everyone," said Edward. "Today is the day lady Bethany will choose which dress to wear at our wedding tomorrow. You have all worked hard these past three days, and all your dresses are beautiful, but only one can be chosen. Lady Bethany will now start judging."

Bethany walked around the sewing room and looked at the dresses. She first looked at Shawn's dress.

"A little old fashioned," she criticized. "But at least it's gold."

She then went over to the next one.

After a couple more, Bethany finally came to Alice's dress. She stared at the beautiful medieval dress.

"I can't believe it's so beautiful Alice," said Bethany. "You're really a great designer."

"Thanks Bethany," said Alice trying to keep her excitement from bursting out. Though the dogs and Lady Rose stared distrusting at Bethany and her mother.

Finally, Bethany finished inspecting the dress and stood in the front of the sewing room.

"I've giving it much thought," she announced. "And I've made my decision."

Everybody stood quiet waiting for Bethany to declare the winner.

"I've chosen, Baahir Dawson of Egypt's dress" declared Bethany.

The room burst into applause, and a man in his late thirties stepped up, he wore Egyptian robes and pushed up a dummy wearing an ivory gown with a gold bodice and a flowing skirt.

Alice although clapped, she felt a little disappointed. The boys were surprised, Bethany hadn't chosen her dress. Though the buddies and the nationals didn't look surprised.

Tilly and Shawn felt sorry for Alice too.

As everybody got to work, Alice decided to talk to Bethany.

"Lady Bethany," said Alice softly. "I thought you said you were considering choosing my dress."

"I did think about it," said Bethany acting like she felt bad. "But you're just a kid, I didn't think you were ready to be a designer. So that's why I choose Mr. Dawson's dress, because he's a more experienced designer."

"Of course," said Alice trying to understand. But she was still upset.

The boys felt sorry for they're friend. Tilly and Shawn felt sorry for her too.

"Don't worry Alice," said Shawn. "I think you designed a beautiful dress."

"Yeah," added Tilly. "I don't think any other kid could design a dress like this."

"Thank you, guys," said Alice cheering up a bit. "Besides, it was fun to be here anyway, and we still get to go to the wedding tomorrow."

Edward watched as Alyvia and Bethany walked out of the room, he looked uncomfortably at his fiancée and he walked out after them.

The buddies and the nationals glared as Bethany and Alyvia left.

"I cannot believe she said that!" cried Rosebud feeling insulted. "She doesn't pick her dress because she's just a kid!"

"I'm gonna give that girl a piece of my mind" growled B-dawg getting ready to run after her. But Nora held him back.

"It's okay B-dawg," she said in a soft and kind voice. "It's not worth it."

"Pride is the deadliest sin in the bible" muttered Nina.

"Nina's right," said Buddha calmly. "Lady Bethany's pride has given her bad karma."

"We really need to get Edward and Dorothy together now," sighed Budderball.

Bethany walked down to the room where the crown jewels were. She held up the princess tiara and smiled.

"Tomorrow, I'll be wearing this tiara," she declared. "And be queen of Dove's Isle."

Author's note; Edward and the kids are starting to have doubts about lady Bethany, the reason she didn't pick Alice's dress is because she believes Alice is against her by bringing Edward and Dorothy together. Can the buddies stop her before it's too late?
