Chapter 15
In the throne room, people gathered inside and took their seats. The commoners sat on the left side and the nobility sat on the right. Alyvia sat in the front row with the other ladies of the court, she sat on a chair next to the aisle.
The kids sat up front too with the other contestants in the sewing competition. The boys wore the same black suits they wore at the engagement ball and Alice wore a black halter neck dress with purple and blue flowers. Tilly and Shawn sat next to the kids too.
King Harold and queen Kristi stood on the alter with Edward. Edward and Harold wore black suits and the queen wore a light pink gown with puffed sleeves and a ruffled skirt.
The musicians started playing music and Bethany entered the throne room walking down the aisle.
Everyone watched as Bethany walked down the aisle carrying her wedding bouquet.
"Where are the buddies?" whispered Billy.
"I don't know," said Sam. "They're probably with the nationals."
"They'll miss all the fun if we don't find them," said Bartleby.
The buddies and the nationals ran to the entrance to the throne room and watched Bethany walk up the stairs of the altair.
"People of Dove's Isle," announced the priest. "We are gathered today to announce the engagement of the crown prince Edward Henry Markle and lady Bethany Hillson."
The puppies listened silently.
"How are we gonna stop the wedding?" asked Nathalie.
"I know," said Rosebud. "Prince Edward would never marry Bethany if he knew what she was really like."
The others nodded.
"So why don't we show him who she really is?"
The puppies smiled getting Rosebud's plan.
"Do you prince Edward take lady Bethany to be your lawfully wedding wife?" asked the prince.
"I," said Edward unsure of what to say. "I-I."
But before he could say anything, he stopped by the sound of barking.
The buddies and the nationals started running into the throne room and scattered around.
Budderball and Nathalie ran over to a treat stand and started devouring buttercream cupcakes.
B-dawg and Nora brought in a radio and turned the radio on playing hip hop music.
Mudbud and Nancy got covered in mud and ran up to Bethany and started shaking mud on her wedding dress.
Bethany screamed. "Get away from me you horrid dogs!" she cried surprising Edward.
Rosebud and Nathanial started jumping up on Bethany and ran around her, twisting the skirt of her dress.
"You're ruining my wedding you mangy beasts!" snapped Bethany. Budderball then launched a half-eaten cupcake and it hit the back of Bethany's dress.
Buddha laid on the ground and showed Nina a stretching pose and she copied him.
Bethany backed up trying to get away from the puppies and tripped over them and fell on her back.
The throne room was full of chaos with all the guests scattered around trying to avoid the mess.
Bethany picked herself up and glared at Nathanial and Nancy.
"I have never been more humiliated in my life!" she said grabbing them by the necks.
"Get your filthy hands off my dogs!" said Edward firmly, grabbing Bethany by the arm.
Dorothy entered the throne room calmly, carrying Lady Rose. All the noise had calmed down and everyone starred in surprise.
Alyvia walked over to her daughter and started tending to her.
"Dorothy," said Edward walking up to her. "Where have you been?"
"Countess Alyvia locked me and the puppies in the dungeon!" said Dorothy. "Because she felt I was interfering in the wedding."
Everyone gasped and starred at Alyvia and Bethany.
"You locked our puppies up!?" said Alice crossly.
"How could you do that?!" cried Peter.
Bethany coward as she looked at the five angry kids.
"Bethany," said Edward crossly. "The engagement is off."
He turned to look at his parents.
"I am sorry mom and dad," he said calmly. "I know you worked hard on this arrangement, but I will not marry a girl who hates animals."
"I don't blame you Edward," said Kristi who was also cross. "I can't believe you two would lock our pets up!"
Harold nodded in agreement.
"Countess," he said. "You are hereby dismissed. You and your daughter are no longer welcome in this court. Guards, please escort them out."
Two guards walked up to Alyvia and Bethany and gently pushed them along as they escorted the two ladies out of the room huffing.
Author's note; Bethany and her mother have been defeated and now Edward will be able to marry Dorothy.
