Chapter 16

Well things certainly calmed down after Alyvia and Bethany left the castle. Edward and Dorothy stared at each other lovingly.

"Mom, dad," said Edward turning to face his parents. "Dorothy is the one I want to marry. She's sweet and loves animals like me."

The king and queen smiled acceptingly at their son's choice. Edward turned to face Dorothy again.

"Dorothy Felicity Coyne, will you marry me?" asked Edward.

"But," said Dorothy. "I'm a maid, princes don't marry servants."

"You're not a princess," said Edward. "But I love you, my mother wasn't a princess either, but my dad loved her anyone, she was the daughter of a politician on the Kentucky government. When my dad was a young adult, he accompanied his father on a business trip to Kentucky and he met my mom. It was love at first sight. My dad made six more trips to Kentucky to see mom and the seventh time was to propose for her. He loved a commoner and so do I."

Dorothy smiled.

"I will marry you" she said happily.

The throne room was full of cheers. The puppies and the cat smiled; their plan had worked.

"Alice," said Dorothy walking up the kids. "I'd be honored to wear the dress you made for our wedding." She said kindly.

Alice smiled excitedly; she had won the competition after all. And her friends and the buddies, nationals and Lady Rose were happy for her too.

A few minutes later, everyone was sitting in the throne room again as Dorothy walked down the aisle wearing Alice's wedding dress carrying a bouquet of daffodils, crocuses and tulips.

"Do you prince Edward Markle," said the priest. "Do you take Dorothy Coyne to be your lawfully wedded wife."

"I do" said Edward happily.

"And do you Dorothy Coyne take prince Edward to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

"I do," said Dorothy.

"Then by the powers vested in me," said the prince. "I now pronounce man and wife, you may kiss the bride."

Edward and Dorothy kissed and everyone cheered.

Nathalie and Rosebud rested their heads against Budderball and Nathanial's shoulders Rosebud wore a pink ruffled dress with puffy sleeves. and Nora licked B-dawg on the cheek. B-dawg blushed in surprise and licked her back.

The priest held up the princess's tiara.

"I hereby dub thee princess Dorothy Felicity Markle-Coyne" said the priest and placed the tiara on Dorothy's head.

Dorothy threw the wedding bouquet and Tilly caught it.

Everyone enjoyed the party especially Rosebud and Nathanial.

Budderball and Nathalie gathered around the looking excited for the wedding banquet.

B-dawg and Nora danced to the music.

Buddha and Nina watched Edward and Dorothy dance.

"The bible says to cherish marriage until death due us part," said Nina. "And I think these two will be together till then."

"I think your right," said Buddha. "Love is the greatest power of all." The two puppies rubbed their foreheads together.

After the party was over. The prince and princess walked down the front steps to the horses and carriage.

"Where shall we go for our honeymoon?" asked Edward.

"I've always wanted to go to Tallahassee," said Dorothy.

"It's a shame we're going back to Fernfield tomorrow," said Rosebud. "We'll miss you all."

"We will too" purred Lady Rose.

"Don't worry," said Nathanial. "We'll never forget you."

"Neither will we," said Rosebud.

"Lady Rose," called Dorothy. "Come on girl."

"You too nationals!" called Edward.

Lady Rose and the nationals all hopped aboard the carriage. And the driver made the carriage start.

The children and the buddies and the guests waved goodbye as the carriage rode off out the gates.

Author's note; The prince and princess got their happily ever afters. If this were a movie picture this if it came out on DVD. The case would have the buddies and Lady Rose on the cover surrounded by a pink background (with Rosebud wearing her Valentine's day dress) and the title would say "Love Buddies" with the word 'Love' in cursive hot pink writing. How good does that look?
