Friendships Take Time
Summary: After the events of the picture book A Magical Match, Sofia and Lucinda realize they hadn't started off on the right foot either, just like their bunnies.
"You know Lucinda, we were just like Clover and Hexie when we first met," Sofia recalled.
The aforementioned bunnies were happily raiding the castle's vegetable garden as Lucinda cleaned up what was left of the antidote to the Fast Friends potion.
"Really? I don't remember such a thing," the little witch smirked.
Sofia rolled her eyes playfully as she assisted Lucinda in her cleaning, picking up a sponge to wipe down the table with.
"Surely you do," The Enchancian princess insisted. "You threatened to hex me because I wanted you to be nice."
"At least nobody had a Fast Friends position around to make us friends!" Lucinda giggled. "Could you imagine how much of a disaster that would've been?"
Sofia nodded. She couldn't imagine being stuck to another human for hours while waiting for an antidote to arrive.
She preferred the building up to her and Lucinda's friendship with a conversation that felt like hours but had only been twenty minutes.
Getting the little witch to be friends with everyone else, especially Jade, had taken a lot longer than she thought but wouldn't trade it in any way.
"You've gotten better with being a good witch since then," Sofia spoke after a moment.
The potion had been cleaned up as Lucinda laid her hands on the now spotless and wiped down table, restlessly twirling a lock of her hair.
"Why thank you!" She grinned. "It wasn't easy but I wouldn't have done it without your help, Sofia."
"It was no trouble at all. Aside from dangling off your broom," Sofia shuddered.
"You've gotten better with riding them. In fact, you seemed to be enjoying yourself this morning."
"That's because I was with you, Lucinda. Meeting Hexie was the best part!"
"She seemed to like meeting you too as normally she's not friendly around strangers except for my mom and me," Lucinda revealed.
Sofia giggled upon hearing the remark, placing a hand to her lips. "I can't help it if animals like me! They just know I'm a good person!" She gazed at the window, smiling softly as she watched Clover guide Hexie to his favorite lettuce patch. "You should bring Hexie more often. Clover seems to like her."
Lucinda took her hands off the table and smiled, gazing at the two bunnies sharing a ball of lettuce. "Hexie seems to like him too."
"So will you?"
"A witch never breaks a promise unless she wants to."
"That's a yes to being Hexie over to the castle next time?" Sofia wondered.
"Of course!" Lucinda giggled.
The former wicked little watch and the Enchancian princess conversed their plans for the next visit until Lucinda sighed, putting a hand to her face.
"You don't think my mom will be mad we used one of her potions do you Sofia?" She questioned, keeping herself preoccupied with gazing out the window.
Sofia shook her head. "Not if you tell her it was for a good cause. I'm sure she'll understand."
"Thanks Sofia."
"Anytime."
The two girls gave each other warm smiles as they left the room in search for their bunnies, hoping to get to them before dusk.
As for Clover and Hexie, their friendship was taking its time while they ventured into the castle gardens devouring the various foods they could find.
Even if they, like their owners before them, hadn't gotten along at first.
