Sonic heard the voice and looked around.
There was nobody. But there was still a laugh. The voice stopped laughing and said:" You problably don't know about the chaos emeralds'protector's curse. Finish the dark transformation and you'll be like this forever." Sonic backed into the wall and asked:" Who...who are you?" Then he saw that the painting moved. It said:" I am you."
King looked down to the city. Armor walked behind to him and asked:" Sir, what can we do?" King turned to him and said:" Search for the chaos emeralds' protector and bring him here. There must be a way to stop him." Knuckles joined in:" Yes. Maybe chaos emerald will stop him. I'm not sure but i heard that chaos emeralds could help to control their protector's powers." King said:" It's on the table behind the throne. Shield walked there and said:" It is little odd." Knuckles noticed that she was holding the chaos emerald. That chaos emerald was without it's glow. Knuckles took it and said:" It's not good! Sonic's negative powers are affecting the chaos emeralds." Shield asked:" Can we do something?" Knuckles turned around and walked to the balcony. He said:" I'm not sure. It never happened to me and nobody told me about anything if it could happen." Shield said:" But what about your friends?" Knuckles shook his head and said:" I am the most experienced with chaos energy." Shield asked:" But can others help at least calm him down enough so chaos emerald won't be with negative power for some time?"
Amy, Tails and Chase's team were near the castle. They saw Shield and the king talking to Knuckles. Knuckles then turned around and walked away. Amy asked:" What's going on?" Chase shrugged but then noticed that Amy walked out of their hiding place and went towards the king with hammer.
Tails started to follow her and took from her wrist. He said:" Amy, let's think it through! He could hurt you very badly." Amy said:" I don't care! Because of him Sonic is hurt! I'll show that king what will happen if he messes with him!" Tails now tried to pull Amy away, only to slide while being sticked to her hand.
Amy then pushed Tails away and rose her hammer. Knuckles noticed that and stopped the hammer. It almost hit Shield. Amy asked:" What's the big idea? You're brainwashed or something?" Knuckles said:" Don't worry, if you don't give them a reason to attack you, then they're on our side." Amy shouted:" I knew it! You're brainwashed!" She rose her hammer but them Tails ran between Knuckles and Amy. He said:" Let him explained! This time." Knuckles said:" Oh yeah, Dr. Eggman and his traps. But this time it's true. They had a chance to kill me but they didn't. They were just afraid of Sonic's dark form. And it was justified. Dark Sonic is dangerous. He almost killed me." Tails said:" I know that he's dangerous in that 'dark mode'."
Sonic shook his head and said:" You're not me. You're so mad." The hallucination floated near him and said:" I know what you want deep inside. You're done being perfect little hero because most of the people doesn't appreciate your deeds. Instead they want that you are doing so much more than you're capable. Is it exhausting to be always there when everybody needs you? Do you want to live your own life and everybody could just stop counting on you everytime something goes wrong?" Sonic looked down.
He remembered what could happen if he is not there to stop Dr. Eggman. No! He will not let him take the world again! Sonic rose his head and looked into the hallucination's eyes. He said:" No matter what i want deep inside, i will never let anyone down, again. The world is so much important than my life." Hallucination hovered closer and said:" That's bad." It grabbed Sonic's neck and said:" We are not the same after all. But don't you want revenge for your family? It's not wrong." Sonic said:" Two wrongs doesn't make it right! I won't let you get into my head!" Sonic kicked it, only to go through it. Hallucination laughed and said:" But how about Tails? They injured him. Don't you want to harm them after they broke Tails' tails, kidnapped him and made them bleed? They were also ready to kill Knuckles." Sonic looked away and felt like he was losing. He wanted to make the knighters pay for what they did to his friends. Hallucination laughed again and said:" I knew you could come around. I'll give you the power what you need to make those monsters suffer." Sonic looked back at it and said:" I agree with you but do not harm my friends!"
Tails gave Knuckles the chaos emerald. Knuckles gasped and said:" You found the chaos emerald what Sonic dropped!" Tails asked:" Sonic dropped it?" Knuckles said:" I knew that Sonic dropped the emerald for you and then gave you enough time to figure this out."
Tails was about to say something but then Dark Sonic appeared and attacked Shield. Shield fell backwards as Sonic went on top of her. He rose his fist, only to being stopped by Knuckles. Dark Sonic looked at him with angered and confusied expression. Knuckles said:" Sonic, calm down! She's not worth it." Sonic growled and freed himself from the grasp and then punched Knuckles into the face, making him fly into the building's wall. Amy gasped and asked:" What's wrong, Sonic?"
Tails ran between Sonic and Knuckles, when Sonic walked towards Knuckles with angry face. Sonic stopped right in front of Tails. Tails said:" Please, Sonic! Do not hurt Knuckles!" Sonic then grabbed him by the shoulder and threw him to the ground. Amy took her hammer and was about to attack, Sonic but Sonic grabbed the hammer, took it from Amy and broke it in half. He threw the pieces away and grabbed Amy by the throat, choking her. Chase ran towards them and shoot Sonic with her laser gun. Roy joined her.
Sonic's aura around him acted like shield and blocked the lasers to get to him. Sonic looked at two attackers and threw Amy on Roy. Chase ran towards Sonic. Sonic grabbed Chase's arm and made her swing over his head and to the ground. King took out his sword and ran towards Sonic. Shield did the same. Knuckles chaos controlled over Sonic and slided into Sonic's head with his fist. Sonic lost a balance for a second. King and Shield were ready to slice Sonic, running towards him with swords towards Sonic. Sonic jumped away and took king's sword and threw it towards Knuckles, who was trying to keep chaos emerald with positive energy. Shield noticed it and ran front of the sword. The sword hit her chest and she flied into Knuckles. Knuckles fell down and noticed Shield on him. He shouted:" Sharvari!" He turned to his back and sat up, putting her head on his lap. King stopped what he was doing and looked at Shield. He said quietly:" No!"
Shield opened her arms and said to Knuckles:" I'm sorry for everything." Knuckles replyed:" Sharvari, you just followed your emotions. You didn't know that it will happen." Shield turned her face to the battlefield and said:" No. Sonic warned me and i ignored him." Knuckles followed her gaze and said:" We'll fix this, Sharvari." Shield shook her head and said:" No, you will fix this. I know you can." Knuckles looked at her and closed his eyes. Shield asked:" When it's over, will you say that he will meet his family again?" Knuckles said quietly:" Sharvari..." Then he noticed that Shield stopped breathing. Knuckles opened his eyes and saw that Shield has closed her eyes. Knuckles rose up gently and put the body on the ground. He said:" Will do."
Sonic has injured others very badly already. Tails had very bad bruises, Chase covered her wound on her shoulder, Roy was on the ground unconscious and Amy tried to rise up only to fall back. King had dissappeared.
Knuckles growled and started to run towards Sonic. Tails noticed him and shouted:" Knuckles, no!" Sonic heard it and turned around to see how Knuckles punched him into the chest. Nothing happened. Knuckles looked at Sonic's face and saw a smirk on his face. Sonic kicked Knuckles into Tails. Sonic asked:" Why are you protecting him?" Knuckles helped Tails sit up and said to Sonic:" Because it's right thing to do. It's something what you normally want. You want that we do the right thing. It is your dream, right?" Sonic froze up. Knuckles continued:" Tails knows you. He has told me that your dream is to make a world better place, that's why you're always there when somebody is in danger. You are always there when anybody needs you, so please, be there for us this time too."
Sonic's fighting with his mind started to be more visible. Knuckles said:" You can do this! Win this negative energy!" Sonic started to flicker from his dark mode to his normal mode. Then it stopped. Everybody started to back off. Sonic's dark mode stayed. Knuckles looked at the chaos emerald in his hand. The color of it was complitly faded. Knuckles felt like he was failed. If he didn't stopped Amy from attacking Sharvari and that king then he could have been able to save the chaos emeralds from this negative energy. Knuckles closed his eyes in defeat and held the chaos emerald near his heart. He needed to do something.
Knuckles heard Amy shout his name. He opened his eyes and saw Sonic right in front of him. Sonic rose his arm, ready to hit Knuckles. Knuckles held out the chaos emerald and shouted:" Chaos control!" Everything froze up, expect for Sonic. Knuckles went behind Sonic. Sonic was about to turn around when Knuckles punched Sonic. Sonic stumbled little bit but Knuckles punched him again, making him fall. Knuckles ended the chaos emerald before he gives all his chaos energy to the emerald. Knuckles asked:" Give up yet?" Sonic smirked, rose up and said:" It was just a warm up!" Knuckles got battle ready but then desided against it. Did Sonic hit him when he had lost control? No, Sonic tried to reason with him and helped him get his own control back.
Knuckles said:" Sonic, come to your senses! Are you really want to lose your own brothers? Yes, i consider myself as your brother. We care for each other so much, even if we don't show it. We are always for each other. You were there for me if i lost control. You held yourself back from hurting me. I try to do the same to you." Sonic stood there with suprised expression.
Sonic asked:" Are you really saying that we are brothers?" Knuckles nodded and said:" I do. But you know me. I'm horrible at words. But i needed to say it at some time. And i can help teach you those powers what you have but don't know yet. But only if you stop it so nobody could end up like Sharvari." Sonic looked at the place where Shield lied.
The voice in Sonic's voice said:" Don't even think to try and break away. I'm always part of you." Sonic said quietly:" I'm done with you! This is my life and no evil part of me won't tell me other wise!" Voice replyed:" I don't care. I'm your other side. And now when i'm activated then i can get rid of you."
Sonic was now badly struggeling. Knuckles saw this and felt panic rising. He heard that chaos protector can live without their other side, and now that dark mode tries to get rid of Sonic. Knuckles looked at the chaos emerald and saw that it started to flicker. Knuckles thought:" It's best plan so far." He ran towards Sonic and grabbed his hand and put the chaos emerald into that same hand. Then he moved Sonic's hand near Sonic's chest.
Then the chaos emerald complitly faded out.
